00:08The Election Commission said voter turnout stood at 56.78% as of 3pm, which was lower
00:15than the 59.09% in the 2020 election.
00:19They said they expect the turnout to be around 60% when the polls close at 5.30pm.
00:25In Tamparuli Town, voters said the process was well organized and the election officials
00:29were efficient in carrying out their duties.
00:59The election commission chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said the results of the election
01:07should start coming in by 10pm, and the full results should be known by midnight.
01:12He said some polling centres were closed at noon because they had a low number of voters.
01:17He said most of them had fewer than 100 voters.
01:20The commission also mobilized helicopters at 85 polling centres in remote areas and islands
01:26to gather ballot papers.
01:28A total of 596 candidates from 23 parties, as well as independents, are vying for 73 seats
01:36in the state legislative assembly.
01:38There are some 1.78 million registered voters in this election.
