Johor polls: Polls close, early results trickle in

Polling for the 16th Johor State Election has officially ended at 6pm on Saturday (July 11) after all 1,076 polling centres across the state closed.  The mood at Barisan Nasional’s war room was upbeat as early voting results trickled in, showing that the coalition was leading in 45 seats out of 56. 00:01Polling for the Johor election ended at 6 p.m. on Saturday after all the 1,076 polling

00:08centres across the state closed.

00:10The voting process for the 2.6 million eligible voters to choose their representatives in

00:16the Legislative Assembly lasted for 10 hours.

00:20The Election Commission said, as of 5 p.m., 67.44 per cent, or over 1.8 million came out

00:27to cast their ballots, despite hours of downpour and flash floods in parts of the state.

00:36The voter turnout was not too far from the target of 70 per cent, and the Election Commission

00:41expects the results by 10 p.m.

00:44After the vote count, all ballot boxes were transported to vote tallying centres before

00:49the official results are announced.
