Transcript
00:00House of the Dragon breakout Millie Alcock is opening up about landing her coveted role
00:04in the Thrones prequel series and the part that shocked her.
00:08The 22-year-old Australian actress, who plays Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, explained that
00:13she read for a mysterious character named Y.R., auditioning via Zoom.
00:17She also admitted to never having watched Game of Thrones, as she was only 10 years
00:21old when the original show debuted.
00:23Once she landed the pivotal role, getting the call at a friend's house, Alcock noted
00:27having to keep it a secret.
00:30I asked my friend if he had any wine, and I couldn't really tell him why.
00:32He thought something really awful had happened.
00:35Another shocker for the actress, Alcock discovered that the younger version of Rhaenyra wasn't
00:39simply a character who appeared in a few flashbacks, but was the main focal point for the first
00:44part of the season until Emma Darcy takes over the role for the rest of the show.
00:49I was surprised.
00:50I was just really shocked, adding,
00:51Alcock met with many of her dragon castmates ahead of production, but one performer she
01:03was discouraged from meeting was the other Rhaenyra.
01:05Me and Emma were like, let's meet up.
01:07We wanted to have a meeting with director Miguel Sapochnik and have a discussion about
01:11Rhaenyra's progression as a character.
01:13And Miguel didn't want us to meet, which was really interesting, so we never had that discussion.
01:17Miguel was like, just trust that you both have it.
