00:07Ken Jennings, the Jeopardy! contestant who went on to win this year's greatest of all time tournament,
00:12will be taking over for the late Alex Trebek as the show's interim host.
00:17He'll be the first in a series of guest hosts since the death of the great Alex Trebek on November 8th.
00:22The show is holding off on naming a full-time host for the time being.
00:26Other guest hosts will be announced in the coming weeks.
00:28Executive producer Mike Richards spoke out saying,
00:31Alex believed in the importance of Jeopardy! and always said that he wanted the show to go on after him.
00:37We will honor Alex's legacy by continuing to produce the game he loved with smart contestants and challenging clues.
00:43By bringing in familiar guest hosts for the foreseeable future,
00:47our goal is to create a sense of community and continuity for our viewers.
00:51Jennings won the primetime Jeopardy! the greatest of all time tournament earlier this year,
00:55defeating James Holzhauer and Brad Rutter in the best-of-seven format.
01:00He also holds the show's record for consecutive games won at 74
01:03and most winnings in regular play, earning $2,520,700.
01:10Jennings' first episodes as host will air the week of January 11th.
01:14Trebek's last episodes of the show taped on October 29th and will air the week of January 4th.
01:19Producer Sony Pictures TV opted to hold the host's final shows until after the new year
01:25so that holiday preemptions on local stations wouldn't deprive viewers of the chance to see his last episodes.
01:31During the weeks of December 21st and 28th,
01:34Jeopardy! will instead air 10 of Trebek's best episodes from his 36 years as host.
