The 'American Horror Story' and 'Ratched' actor will play a key DC Comics character in the upcoming series from exec producer Greg Berlanti.

00:00Finn Wittrock is joining the DC Universe. The American Horror Story and Ratched actor is set

00:04to star in HBO Max's upcoming Green Lantern series. Wittrock will play Guy Gardner, one of

00:10the many Green Lantern characters that'll be featured in the big-budget drama. The HBO Max

00:15character is described as, quote, a hulking mask of masculinity and, as rendered in the comics,

00:20an embodiment of 1980s hyper-patriotism. And yet, Guy is somehow likable. The new Green Lantern is

00:26said to reinvent the classic DC property through a story spanning decades and galaxies.

00:31According to sources, though, there were conversations with Ryan Murphy prior to production,

00:35as Wittrock is also attached as the male lead on season two of Murphy's drama for Netflix,

00:40Ratched. Green Lantern is one of multiple DC Comics titles in the works for HBO Max.

00:46There's also a Suicide Squad spin-off focused on Peacemaker, played by John Cena,

00:50as well as a series about the Gotham City Police Department,

00:52which also has ties to Matt Reeves' forthcoming The Batman.

00:56Elsewhere, J.J. Abrams is also working on multiple other DC Comics titles,
