00:11series Lanterns. Brolin was eyed to play Hal Jordan, the cocky Green Lantern hero previously
00:17played by Ryan Reynolds in the 2011 Green Lantern movie. According to multiple sources,
00:22the actor received an offer at the end of August. By the end of this past weekend,
00:26his mind was made up. No other details were available. Ozark's Chris Mundy is showrunning
00:30the eight-episode series that is described as having a gritty, true detective vibe as it focuses
00:35on Jordan reluctantly mentoring a younger Lantern, Jon Stewart. Mundy is co-writing the series with
00:40Damon Lindelof, the creator of HBO's Watchmen and seminal TV show Lost, as well as comics author
00:46Tom King. The casting would have been another title in Brolin's comic book resume. He is a regular to
00:51the genre, most notably playing Thanos in Guardians of the Galaxy, as well as in Avengers Infinity War,
00:56and Avengers Endgame. He also played Cable in Deadpool 2 opposite Reynolds. The internet was
01:01all abuzz at the prospect of Brolin playing Jordan, although he was never a sure thing.
