The director dives into the final moments of the latest 'Fast and Furious' movie and how it sets up more to come.
Transcript
00:00I think it's going to be a very interesting journey, you know.
00:03I think a lot of Nine, you know, is about introducing new characters, bringing back old characters,
00:10and in a way kind of recalibrating and setting everything up, you know, to be going in the right direction as we're heading into the final two.
00:18F9 filmmaker Justin Lin opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about how his movie sets up the 10th and 11th films in the franchise,
00:25as well as the surprising post-credits scene that gave fans the reunion they've been waiting for.
00:30Warning, spoilers ahead.
00:31The latest movie in the Fast Saga finally provides Justice for Han, played by Sung Kang.
00:36Han's death was originally depicted in the 2006 film The Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift.
00:41Then, filmmaker Lin revealed in his 2013 movie Fast and Furious 6 that the fan-favorite character died at the hands of villain Deckard Shaw, played by Jason Statham.
00:50F9 not only reveals that Han's death had been faked, but its post-credits scene sees Han come face-to-face with Shaw once again.
00:57Lin told THR this about finally providing the hashtag Justice for Han fans had been asking for.
01:02It's interesting because, you know, a lot of people, they assume that, you know, when Han comes back at 9, that's Justice for Han.
01:11And I never felt like that's the case because I think the issue with Justice for Han is not, hey, he's gone, we want him back.
01:16It was that something was not right, and we need to figure out how to correct that.
01:24Lin has two more Fast movies in the works, and he teases that the post-credits scene sets the stage for much more Han.
01:29The most critical element of this is the treatment of this character.
01:33So Justice for Han really is how we treat Han as he comes back and as we move forward.
01:38So there's definitely a lot to explore and to unpack, and I think that is just a moment I wanted to share with the audience that there's a lot more to come.
