00:00Congratulations on there! Thank you!
00:02What did you think when you first read these scripts?
00:05I couldn't believe that I had the scripts of The White Lotus Season 3 in my inbox, on my Gmail.
00:11I was like, this is like the most confidential, like, top secret information.
00:19And I have it all in my thing, and then I read it, and I was like, Mike, you've done it again.
00:24You've done it again. You have topped it somehow.
00:26Like, because I'm the biggest fan of The White Lotus.
00:29For the first two seasons, I'm like a devout, like, I'm obsessed with it.
00:34So, I was also nervous reading them, because I was like, what's three gonna be?
00:37Because sometimes a season three can get a bit, you know?
00:40And Mike's just such a genius. He's just, he's outdone himself. I think he's surpassed it.
00:45How do you feel like this compares to the first two? Because I know he said it's darker.
00:49It's darker, but I, weirdly, I'm like, from my character's perspective,
00:55like, Mike is so sharp and acerbic in his writing.
01:01And that's what we love about it, because he's so good at nailing everyone's worst bits,
01:05like the worst parts of humanity.
01:07But he's actually a very hopeful, enthusiastic, playful, optimistic person.
01:12And I feel like he's expressed that bit of himself through Chelsea.
01:15So, it felt really cool to, like, bring maybe some of the hope to the show.
01:19So, I think it's, it is definitely darker.
01:21There's more melancholy.
01:23The stakes feel very high from the get-go.
01:26There's a lot, it's like, even more tension.
01:29Like, all the things we love about White Lotus, but amplified.
01:32Exactly.
01:33But then I do think there's this added layer of, like, optimism.
01:37But I think that maybe is because I play Chelsea, who is so optimistic.
01:41But, so when I watched it back, I was like, oh my God, this is really, really tense and dark.
01:47And everyone's so greedy and their egos.
01:51But I was just in my own little, like, wow, the White Lotus, wow, wow, I'm so happy to be here.
01:56So, yeah, I think it is, there's a, there's a depth to it and a heaviness to it.
02:03Like, I watched episode five last night and I was left like, oof, that really, like, even in the, like, fun moments,
02:12there's a, there's a depth and a heaviness to it.
02:15You know, it's, it's, it's going there, it goes there.
02:18He's like, I'm going to take it to the absolute, because it's life, like, this season's theme is life and death.
02:23It's spirituality.
02:24So, it's very much about, like, destiny and fate and do we have choice and free will
02:31or do we have to go with what's written for us in the stars kind of thing.
02:34Yeah.
02:35From what I've seen, you have a couple of scenes with Lisa.
02:37What was that like in her first acting role?
02:40It was so amazing to witness because she was so nervous.
02:44Yeah.
02:45She's got so much humility.
02:46She was just, like, so scared about doing that first scene with me and Walton.
02:50That was her first scene.
02:51Wow.
02:52Carry over with Lisa.
02:53And she came over.
02:54And I think, like, in the scene, it's not Chelsea smiling.
02:57It's Amy.
02:58I was, I'm literally, like, I'm just grinning at her.
03:00Because I'm like, she's so good.
03:02She's so good.
03:03Because she was so scared.
03:05And then she just absolutely nailed it.
03:07Like, smashed it.
03:08So I was so impressed by her.
03:10That's a big first scene.
03:11It's a big first scene.
03:12And she's so, like, lovely and open.
03:15And, like, she and Tame, like, their storyline is one of my favourite of the season.
03:20Like, it's so beautiful.
03:22And both of them are so amazing.
03:24Amazing.
03:25Amazing.
