CNN's Van Jones Calls Donald Trump Victory a "Nightmare" in Emotional Reaction

Van Jones shared an emotional message on CNN late Tuesday night when Donald Trump was on the verge of defeating Kamala Harris and re-gaining the presidency. The cable news commentator described Trump returning to power as a "nightmare," and showed particular empathy for Black women who supported Harris, along with trans youth and immigrants.

00:03who are hurting tonight.

00:05Van Jones shared an emotional message on CNN late Tuesday night

00:09when Donald Trump was on the verge of defeating Kamala Harris and regaining the presidency.

00:13The cable news commentator described Trump returning to power as a nightmare

00:17and showed particular empathy for black women who supported Harris,

00:21along with trans youth and immigrants.

00:23There are African-American women who know a little bit about being talked down to

00:28and know a little bit about having their economic dreams crushed

00:31who tried to dream a big dream over the past couple months.

00:37And tonight they're trading in a lot of hope for a lot of hurt.

00:40He continued, and they were hoping that maybe this time one of their own could be seen as worthy.

00:45And once again, they're facing rejection, and that hurts.

00:48Jones went on to say that black women who supported Harris are not the only ones hurting.

00:52If you're a parent of a trans kid, your child's face was used as a springboard to power for somebody.

01:01That doesn't feel good.

01:02Jones also spoke about immigrants, saying in part,

01:05they're going to be people who are going to be cleaning your teeth tomorrow

01:08who don't have papers, and they are terrified tonight.

01:11And so it's easy to blow this off.

01:12Oh, look at the elites. They're going to get their comeuppance.

01:14It's not the elite that's going to pay the price.

01:16It's people who woke up this morning with a dream and are going to bed with a nightmare.

01:23He concluded by saying,

01:24and those people deserve to be respected and held and talked to.

01:27Those are the people who are going to pay the price of whatever Donald Trump decides to do.
