00:00On the campaign, I would often say, when we fight, we win.
00:05But here's the thing, here's the thing.
00:07Sometimes the fight takes a while.
00:10That doesn't mean we won't win.
00:14Vice President Kamala Harris publicly conceded the 2024 presidential election to Donald Trump on Wednesday
00:20by encouraging her supporters to continue, quote, the fight for freedom.
00:24On Wednesday at Howard University, Harris thanked her husband, Doug,
00:27as well as President Joe Biden and her campaign staffers, while the crowd chanted her name.
00:32The light of America's promise will always burn bright.
00:43As long as we never give up and as long as we keep fighting.
00:50During her speech, Harris called for a peaceful transition of power,
00:54but said she's not relinquishing the fight that fueled her campaign.
00:56While I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign.
01:10The fight, the fight for freedom, for opportunity, for fairness, and the dignity of all people.
01:20She went on to say,
01:22Do not despair.
01:23This is not a time to throw up our hands.
01:25This is a time to roll up our sleeves.
01:27This is a time to organize, to mobilize, and to stay engaged for the sake of freedom and justice
01:32and the future that we all know we can build together.
01:34The election was awarded to Trump on Wednesday morning after Wisconsin was called in favor of
01:39the former president and current president-elect, earning him the 270 electoral votes necessary to
01:44regain control of the White House.
01:46Towards the end of her speech, Harris addressed the country's young people, saying,
01:50Please know it is going to be okay.
01:52Don't ever give up.
01:54Don't ever stop trying to make the world a better place.
01:59You have power.
02:01You have power.
02:03And don't you ever listen when anyone tells you something is impossible because it has never
02:11been done before.
