The ABC reality dating series concluded with an up-in-the-air relationship and unscripted drama involving a near-Weber family blowup on live television.
Transcript
00:00I feel like I'm about to pass out right now.
00:06Wild, unpredictable, the most dramatic season ever, Chris Harrison wasn't kidding.
00:11Peter Webber's journey to find love on the Bachelor finale came to a close on Tuesday
00:15night filled with a broken engagement, a twist ending and one vocal Barbara Webber.
00:20Boy were fans in for a turbulent ride. The second part of the two-part finale picked up
00:25from Monday night's cliffhanger that saw frontrunner Madison eliminate herself from
00:29the competition, leaving Peter with just one lucky lady, Hannah Ann.
00:33Peter decides to forge on with his relationship with Hannah Ann, giving her his final rose
00:37and proposing on the final day.
00:39I love you, Hannah, and the love that you show me is all that I've ever wanted.
00:47It seems like Peter will finally get his happily ever after, or so we thought.
00:52On Tuesday night, host Chris Harrison steered a live show that included pre-taped footage
00:56of Peter's final week in Australia, as well as footage of his time after filming up until
01:01this week's live finale after show. This is where it was revealed that Peter spent the last
01:05few months still being torn over Madison and breaks off his engagement with Hannah Ann.
01:10Back on the live stage, Harrison was joined by Peter himself, who opened up about his struggles
01:23on the relationship, saying,
01:24The two later came face to face for the first time since their split on the finale stage,
01:31and Hannah Ann held nothing back, even earning claps of approval from Peter's own mother.
01:36So word of advice, if you want to be with a woman, you need to become a real ma'am.
01:45After her exit, fans were treated to more pre-taped footage, which showed Harrison flying
01:49to Auburn, Alabama to speak with Madison.
01:52So you regret what you did?
01:54Yeah.
01:56After admitting that she still has feelings for Peter, and realizing he broke off his
02:00engagement due to his feelings for her, she decides to forgive him. The two reunite,
02:04and decide to give things another go. Back at the live show, Peter and Madison come face to
02:08face for the first time since that day, and decide to take things day by day and start
02:13over in their relationship. Again, it seems like Peter might finally get his fairy tale
02:17ending, but not quite. The finale then took a wild turn in a moment that had social media
02:22in a frenzy, and no one, not even Peter himself, could have predicted, and that was
02:27Barbara Webber. Peter's mother, who many have called the true villain of the season, was
02:31sitting in the live studio audience and featured a number of times throughout the finale
02:35when cameras showed her reaction to the pre-taped footage. From applauding and cheering
02:40on Hannah Ann even after their breakup, to rolling her eyes and shaking her head in
02:44disapproval of fan favorite Madison, Barb was shockingly very vocal on Tuesday night.
02:49Things took an uncomfortable shift when Harrison turned things over to Barbara to weigh in on
02:53the new relationship. The bachelor's mother held nothing back, claiming that Madison was not
02:58madly in love with her son, would not accept a proposal, and added that she was three hours
03:03late to their meeting, which Mama Webber did not appreciate.
03:06So how do you expect a mother who loves her son with all of her heart to take that?
03:11Madison, who politely smiled throughout the segment, turned to Peter to jump in, who defended
03:15his family's passion but asked that they respect his decision. Still, Barb did not back down,
03:21which then turned into a rather uncomfortable back and forth, with Madison reiterating that
03:25this was her journey too, saying,
03:27this isn't just Peter choosing me, this is me choosing Peter.
03:30Whew, Chris Harrison was not kidding when he said to buckle up this season. And it was all
03:35downhill from there when Barb dropped a truth bomb about their relationship.
03:39Chris, he's going to have to fail to succeed. That's it.
03:43This rather cold take prompted major boos from the audience. Now, Peter, who had the final
03:49word, pushed back, creating a pretty tense family scene on live TV.
03:53I am telling you that I love Madison, and that should be enough.
03:58Whew, to be a fly on the wall for that family Thanksgiving.
04:03Tuesday's show also welcomed the new star of The Bachelorette, Claire Crawley, to the live
04:07stage, which had to turn into a rather brief exchange due to the unexpected
04:11Weber family showdown. Her season begins filming next week and is set to premiere May 18th.
