Burt Reynolds was running his lines for 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' before he died of a heart attack at the age of 82 on Sept. 6, 2018, Quentin Tarantino says.

00:00The night he died, what he was doing before he passed on is he was running lines with his assistant.

00:07Quentin Tarantino revealed that Burt Reynolds was rehearsing his lines for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood before he died.

00:13The legendary actor died of a heart attack at the age of 82 on September 6, 2018.

00:19In a new interview with CBS Sunday Morning at his Los Angeles theater, the New Beverly Cinema,

00:24Tarantino opened up about casting Reynolds in the film even though they never got to shoot any footage.

00:28I got a chance to rehearse with him. I'm officially the last role he played because he came to the script reading, so that was his last acting.

00:38Reynolds was set to play George Spahn, the real-life owner and operator of Spahn Ranch,

00:42which was used for several westerns before business dried up and Charles Manson and his followers moved in as depicted in the movie.

00:49Bruce Dern took over the role after Reynolds passed.

00:51Tarantino said he knew Reynolds died happy having been cast in the major Hollywood project.

00:56He was so happy. I can honestly say he died happy.

01:01I'm not saying he died happy because of me, but he was happy. He was definitely happy when he passed on.
