00:00When I was 22, I started seeing a guy who I met on a dating app for a while.
00:15His name was Hunter.
00:16We went on like four dates in the span of a little over a month.
00:20At first, things seemed alright.
00:22Our first date was a quick coffee date, less than an hour.
00:25More of a screening process to make sure he seemed normal.
00:30Our second date was at a nearby bar for some drinks.
00:33We both got a nice buzz, and it was a nice time.
00:36Our third date was dinner, and this was when I started to question things.
00:40Question if I really clicked with his personality, or if I felt like there was something slightly off about him.
00:46The date ended with a kiss still, the first and only time we ever kissed.
00:50So I convinced myself that because I let him kiss me, things went alright.
00:55It wasn't until a couple weeks later that we went on our fourth and final date.
01:00We went out for drinks once again.
01:02However, this time, I went into it with a less excited mindset, and I was paying more attention to little quirks in his behavior that I realized were kind of unusual.
01:11It's hard to explain exactly what I mean, but some of his mannerisms just gave off anti-social and borderline creepy vibes.
01:18He started to drink way too much on this date as well, and he started getting really touchy-feely at the bar trying to kiss multiple times.
01:27I'm not a fan of PDA, especially not when sitting at a bar with people next to me.
01:32I politely turned down his advances, and within a few minutes, I mentioned I was tired, heavily implying we should leave.
01:40He asked for the check, paid it, and then we grabbed our coats and left.
01:44As we were walking to our cars, he stopped me and very bluntly asked me if we could go home together.
01:52I said not tonight, I'm tired and have work tomorrow, which was a lie.
01:57He shockingly kept trying, saying he'd drive me to work tomorrow and such.
02:01I found it to be absurd, whether he was drunk or not.
02:05I also wasn't a fan of him drunk driving home.
02:08I made the decision at that point that I wouldn't see him again.
02:12I went to my car in the parking lot across the street, and started driving home slowly, just because I had a couple drinks in my system.
02:19I wasn't drunk, but I was still very cautious.
02:22I was also overly alert of my surroundings, looking around for cops.
02:26Which perhaps is why I picked up on the fact that the same car was behind me still, after I made at least three turns.
02:32And at a certain stoplight, I realized it looked like Hunter's car.
02:36I texted him, are you following me?
02:39He texted back pretty quickly, saying, yes, I just want to make sure you get home okay.
02:44I called him, but he wouldn't pick up.
02:47This was so weird, and quite frankly creepy.
02:50I pulled over and texted him to stop following me, I'm fine.
02:54He stopped in the middle of the street for a second, I presumed to read my texts, and then he drove off past me.
03:01He didn't text back, not until I got home and was in bed.
03:05He said as follows, I hope I didn't weird you out tonight.
03:09Sorry I got so drunk.
03:11Next time we should do something a little more low-key, like dinner at my place or something.
03:15I didn't answer.
03:17So the next morning, he followed up with, oh no, is the vibe dead?
03:21I still decided to wait a bit to respond.
03:26Not even two hours later, he sends me a question mark.
03:29So I decided to reply now before it got worse.
03:33I said, hey, I had a great time getting to know you, but I just think our personalities don't click that much.
03:38I also really just want to focus on myself right now, I hope you understand.
03:42After this was when the angry texts started coming in.
03:46The worst of which being, no, I don't understand.
03:49You strung me along for four dates to tell me that?
03:52How about you pay me back half of everything I bought for you then?
03:56There were a few other angry texts that involved personal information, so I'm not going to include them.
04:01But they were enough to prompt me to block him.
04:03I thought this would be the end of it, but then I started receiving no-caller ID phone calls non-stop.
04:10I ignored all of them until he finally seemed to get the message and stopped.
04:15The next day, when my parents weren't home, I got home from work to find a bouquet of flowers on the stoop along with a card.
04:23The card was an apology from Hunter, asking for a second chance.
04:27He somehow knew where I lived.
04:30That disturbed me.
04:31In his mind, he somehow must have thought that this would come off as charming or sweet,
04:36when in reality it was extremely alarming.
04:39I sent a long and final text to him to please not contact me anymore,
04:44and never come to my house again, or I'd file for a restraining order.
04:48I kept his number blocked so I wouldn't see his response.
04:52I thought things would be over now, but I couldn't be more wrong.
04:56It was not long after this that I was home alone for the night.
04:59My parents' house is big, and I had a loft bedroom, which meant my bedroom was the highest point in the house.
05:06I awoke in the middle of the night to something.
05:09I wasn't sure what it was at first, but I felt as though I was hearing noises from downstairs.
05:14I tried my best to listen closely, and then I heard what was very obviously a door opening from outside my bedroom.
05:22One of the upstairs doors.
05:25Nobody was supposed to be home that night.
05:27Even in my haze from freshly waking up, I still immediately thought intruder.
05:31I crawled out of my bed onto the floor and shimmied under the bed.
05:36Before calling 911, I texted everyone in my family asking who was home.
05:41I heard some distant noises from somewhere in the home.
05:44One of the other bedrooms.
05:46And then, my bedroom door opened, and footsteps came up the carpeted stairs.
05:52After they reached the top step, there was silence.
05:55The whole room was carpeted, so I couldn't hear any potential footsteps.
06:01And then, I heard the drawers next to my bed begin opening.
06:06I held my mouth with my hands to mask my breathing.
06:09I could feel my heart racing.
06:12I heard a man's voice say,
06:13God fucking damn it, under his breath.
06:16In that moment, I thought,
06:19Wait, that might have sounded like Hunter's voice.
06:21I still didn't move, and I prayed my phone did not get any notifications now.
06:27I heard more rummaging sounds.
06:33He was going through my entire dresser.
06:36Then, I heard and felt the bed move as he sat down.
06:40I was staring at the outline of two shoes through the bed skirt.
06:44Even in the dark, it was visible.
06:46I don't know what he was doing on the bed,
06:48but he sat there for over two or three minutes before getting up.
06:51And I heard him say under his breath,
06:53Fucking bitch.
06:55I heard all the drawers close.
06:57And then, I heard footsteps walk back down the stairs,
07:00the door shutting.
07:01And then, sounds of footsteps walking down the stairs to the living room.
07:04I called 911 now.
07:06And I still whispered into the phone just to be safe.
07:09I stayed on the line, and stayed under the bed for 10 to 15 minutes
07:13until one of the police officers showed up.
07:15And I went down to meet them at the front door.
07:17And even that was tense.
07:19After letting him in, I told him everything he didn't already know from the phone call
07:23he responded to.
07:25As such, he did a sweep of the house.
07:27And during that, another officer arrived.
07:29This one female, who also assisted in the search.
07:33It turned out every window was unlocked.
07:36And one of the windows, the dining room one,
07:38is big enough for someone to crawl through.
07:41Though I don't think anyone ever pictured someone squeezing through the bush in front of
07:44the window, and then crawling through it, I gave a verbal statement of everything.
07:50I was given a report number, and they left.
07:53When my parents returned home the next day,
07:55they already knew everything from my texts and phone call with them.
07:59We went to the police station with my report number,
08:01and gave as much information as possible,
08:03such as text screenshots, including him admitting he was following me home.
08:07They said they'd investigate, though without solid proof it was him inside the house,
08:12it was tricky.
08:13I think the case lost steam when I really didn't have any proof of anything.
08:17I did, however, successfully get a restraining order against him,
08:20and I was advised to never accuse him of having broken in,
08:23nor ever contact him again.
08:26He thankfully didn't,
08:27but from that point till the moment I moved out of my parents' house,
08:30I was always uncomfortable he would be creeping around outside.
08:33Even today, I sometimes fear he might find out where I currently live.
08:47I was in the sixth grade when this happened.
08:50This all started on the week of Halloween,
08:53when I would stay after school to help decorate a haunted house for my school's Halloween carnival.
08:57I often got to stay and fool around with some of my friends
09:00while getting awarded with pizza for helping decorate.
09:04Along with my friends,
09:05there was also this other kid who would stay late,
09:07I'll call him Chris.
09:09We had gotten along for the entirety of the time that we would stay after school,
09:13and he never once gave me any reason to feel uneasy around him.
09:16He was genuinely a funny and cool kid.
09:19But anyway, fast forward two weeks.
09:22I was suddenly approached by a group of girls in my grade
09:24who were all excited and had wide grins on their faces.
09:27I asked them what was going on,
09:30only for them to tell me that I had a secret admirer
09:32and that he would be texting me tonight.
09:35Now, I'd be lying to you if I told you that I wasn't excited
09:38or at the very least curious about this.
09:40I wanted to know who.
09:42Later that night,
09:44when I was about to go to sleep,
09:45I got a notification from Messenger.
09:48It was the only app I had at the time
09:49that I always used to communicate with my parents whenever I was home alone.
09:53The message was from Chris.
09:55I had completely forgotten that I added him on Facebook on Halloween.
09:59I opened the message, and it read,
10:02Maya, I need to talk to you.
10:04I was concerned and quickly replied,
10:07Yeah, what's going on? Everything okay?
10:09To this day, I wish I hadn't replied.
10:13The typing bubbles appeared and stayed there for a good two minutes,
10:16which meant that he was still typing.
10:19It felt like forever until his message finally came through.
10:23I didn't expect what came next.
10:26In a long paragraph,
10:27he confessed his love for me
10:29and how I've been driving him crazy since Halloween.
10:32He also proceeded to explain
10:34how he tried to impress me during recess and phys ed with his soccer skills,
10:38but that I never seemed to notice him.
10:40He said that he was growing tired of being ignored,
10:42and it ended with,
10:43I want you to notice me,
10:45so I guess what I'm trying to say is,
10:47will you be my girlfriend?
10:49I cringed at every word.
10:51I stared at the message for a long time.
10:54What the hell?
10:55I barely even know this kid,
10:56and I drifted apart from him a long time ago.
11:00I was trying to come up with a way to let him down easily,
11:02as I didn't want to hurt his feelings.
11:04I told him I didn't like him like that,
11:06and that I wanted to just be friends.
11:09I could tell right away that he didn't like this answer.
11:12He kept asking me why,
11:14and I had to come up with a reason each time,
11:16until he eventually stopped answering.
11:17The next morning was a nightmare for me.
11:21Some of his friends kept coming up to me,
11:22and telling me that Chris wanted to kiss me,
11:24which he told the entire grade he wanted to do,
11:27and that he would do it even if it meant cornering me.
11:30Taking this as a threat,
11:31I decided to tell my teacher.
11:34She told me to stay inside during recess and lunch,
11:36and that if he ever got even close to me,
11:38to run right back to the classroom.
11:41This wasn't enough for me.
11:42I reported him to the principal,
11:44who told me he would do something right away,
11:46and this gave me some relief.
11:48I feel I should mention that I lived right across the street from my school,
11:52and everyone knew this,
11:53including Chris,
11:54which leads me to what happened next.
11:57Later on in the week,
11:58I was walking home from school.
12:00I hadn't even been inside my house for more than two minutes,
12:03before I heard someone knocking on my front door.
12:05Knock, knock, knock, knock.
12:06I peeked out the window just in time,
12:10to see someone ducking behind a parked car across the street.
12:13It had to be Chris.
12:14He must have been following me.
12:16My mom opened the door to find a piece of paper on the floor,
12:19and not surprisingly,
12:20it was addressed to me.
12:22I read the note out loud,
12:24and it said there was a surprise waiting for me under the Cadillac in my driveway,
12:28which at the time belonged to my brother.
12:30My mom went to check,
12:31only to find nothing.
12:33But it was after this day,
12:34my brother's Cadillac stopped working.
12:37I still have no idea what Chris did to the car,
12:39but my brother was forced to sell it.
12:41Unfortunately,
12:42my nightmare doesn't end there.
12:44I was constantly harassed by Chris's friends,
12:46telling me to give him a chance,
12:47and that he would treat me right.
12:49There was even a moment,
12:50when I caught Chris taking a picture of me walking home,
12:53and the only reason I saw him,
12:54was because I barely heard the sound of an iPhone camera behind me.
12:58Who knows how many photos of me he had on his phone.
13:01And every morning,
13:02I woke up to a message from him,
13:03with something along the lines of,
13:05I can't wait to see you at school,
13:07or,
13:07I bet you'll look beautiful today.
13:09The harassment and stalking were only getting worse,
13:12and it was making me fear for my safety,
13:14especially now that he knew where I lived.
13:16Finally,
13:17I got a call into the counselor's office,
13:19and I felt relieved,
13:20expecting her to tell me that Chris was going to get in trouble,
13:23or that the cops would get involved.
13:25Anything.
13:26Instead,
13:27what I heard was worse.
13:29The counselor proceeded to tell me that boys will be boys,
13:32that they do crazy things when they're in love,
13:34and that I shouldn't be mad about this.
13:37She told me I should feel flattered,
13:38as this kind of stuff was bound to happen,
13:40and that the only thing I could do,
13:42was to accept it,
13:43and learn from it.
13:44At the time,
13:45I didn't see the problem with her words,
13:46as I genuinely believed her.
13:48But looking back on it now,
13:50this was an insane and disturbing thing to say to a 6th grader,
13:53who was being sexually harassed,
13:55and who was fearing for her safety almost every day.
13:58That afternoon,
13:59I came home from school,
14:00telling my mom everything the counselor told me,
14:02and she was rightfully furious.
14:05I was called to the principal's office again that same week,
14:08this time with my mom present.
14:10I remember very clearly,
14:11my mom telling the counselor and principal,
14:14what are you waiting for?
14:14For something bad to happen to her before you do something?
14:17She continued to ask why it was taking so long,
14:20for something to be done.
14:22They both stayed silent.
14:24My mom ended it,
14:25by threatening the counselor,
14:26and telling her to never speak to me again,
14:28unless she was present.
14:29But unfortunately,
14:31I don't think the school ever did punish Chris,
14:33which to this day enrages me.
14:36He basically got away with everything.
14:38It doesn't even end there.
14:40One night during the weekend,
14:41when my parents had gone shopping,
14:43I was about to go to bed,
14:44after watching a YouTube video on my iPad,
14:47when I heard something at my window.
14:48Now,
14:50I'm on the second floor,
14:51so this was especially strange.
14:53The only thing that hits my window
14:55are birds accidentally flying into it.
14:57I sat up listening.
14:59Then,
15:00it happened again.
15:02It sounded as if someone had thrown something at the glass.
15:05Then,
15:06it happened again,
15:07and again.
15:08They were consistent thuds,
15:10and it was starting to freak me out.
15:11I finally got the courage to get up from my bed,
15:14and see what it was.
15:16My heart dropped into my stomach,
15:18when I opened the curtain and looked down,
15:20to see Chris holding a handful of rocks,
15:23looking up at my window.
15:24He somehow had managed to figure out which window was mine.
15:28He was about to throw another,
15:29when he noticed me.
15:31I could ever so slightly see that he was saying something,
15:33but I didn't stop to see what.
15:35I remember going to see if every window and door was locked,
15:39and thankfully everything was.
15:41When I returned to my room,
15:43I received four messages from Chris.
15:45Why did you leave?
15:46I just want to talk.
15:48I'm sorry,
15:49all I wanted was a kiss.
15:50Please forgive me.
15:52You are not who I thought you were.
15:54Bye.
15:55I blocked him after that.
15:57Thankfully,
15:58I never had another incident,
15:59even though I had to see him throughout the entirety of my school years,
16:02from sixth grade to senior year.
16:05The last thing I heard about him was that he was arrested.
16:08God only knows for what.
16:10The saddest and scariest part of my story, though,
16:13is the fact that a counselor was comfortable with telling me
16:15that this kind of behavior was a compliment
16:17and a learning experience for me as a girl.
16:19I just hope that woman no longer works with children,
16:22and that I never have to see Chris again.
16:35I want to stay as anonymous as possible with this.
16:38This was a very serious occurrence that I have PTSD about,
16:42and unfortunately,
16:43it scarred me.
16:45I'm changing all towns and names in this story,
16:47so there's no way it gets traced back to me.
16:49I've been a very reclusive person most of my life.
16:53It started at a young age.
16:55Even in my early school years,
16:56my teachers would tell my parents I had antisocial behavioral problems.
17:01I would even be included in some of the,
17:03I guess you would say,
17:04special 20-minute classes for speech and behavior in elementary school.
17:08At the time,
17:09I didn't comprehend why I was being brought there
17:11while the rest of my class wasn't.
17:13Middle school was when the pressures of the social hell that school is
17:17really started to set in.
17:18Kids started forming their friend groups,
17:20and that only carried over into high school and got worse.
17:24I never had learning disabilities or anything.
17:26I just had social issues,
17:28which had gotten better as I've grown older,
17:30but I would still consider myself an awkward, introverted person.
17:33However, I've made my close friends,
17:35and I'm grateful for that.
17:37But now let's talk about girls.
17:39Of course,
17:40being a social recluse comes with having trouble with the ladies.
17:43Honestly,
17:44not to get too graphic,
17:45but, you know,
17:46it means something to my story.
17:48I lost my virginity at 21.
17:50That's a bit late,
17:51I'd say.
17:52This was at the age of 23.
17:54I moved out of my parents' place already.
17:57I had been working a high-paying job in my field
17:59for a couple of years at that point already,
18:01and I bought a townhouse in my hometown.
18:03It was pretty affordable,
18:05but a nice and big townhouse.
18:07I don't live there anymore,
18:08but it was two floors.
18:10It was the kind of place that would impress girls at 23 if you owned it.
18:13So, one day swiping on Tinder,
18:16I matched a pretty decent-looking girl.
18:18I'll call her Emily.
18:20We went on a date at a nearby restaurant for dinner.
18:23I was a little in my head,
18:24thinking she was judging me or I was acting awkward,
18:27and by the end of it,
18:28I felt like she'd never want to see me again.
18:31But when I was in bed after getting home,
18:33she told me she really liked me and had fun,
18:35and I was ecstatic, honestly.
18:37So, we went on a second, third, and fourth date,
18:41and honestly, things felt great after I got out of my head.
18:44We became boyfriend-girlfriend fairly quickly,
18:46but the honeymoon phase didn't last forever.
18:50When you first start seeing someone,
18:52you get excited anytime they text or call you.
18:55You crave the attention because ideally it's a two-way thing.
18:58But slowly, I started feeling as though
19:01she was texting me maybe a bit too much.
19:04At all times of the day, she'd ask where I was.
19:07If I was doing something,
19:08or perhaps took my time in responding,
19:10she'd call me or send question marks to follow up.
19:14One day when we were on the couch,
19:15she demanded we share our locations with each other.
19:18I wasn't thrilled about this,
19:20even though I had nothing to hide.
19:21I did it anyway.
19:23So, we're a couple months into the relationship,
19:26our location shared,
19:27and this is where things went really sour.
19:30She'd start asking me why I was at Phil's house
19:32and not answering her texts.
19:34It got so bad that one night
19:35when I was with Phil and my friend Mark
19:37in Phil's basement on a Friday night,
19:39she actually showed up to his house
19:41and Phil's mom walked Emily downstairs.
19:44She didn't even hide the fact that she was pissed at me,
19:46and I immediately spoke in a loud voice,
19:48almost a yell,
19:49reprimanding me for goofing around at Phil's house
19:52instead of answering her texts
19:53about going to some winery the following day.
19:56I asked her if we could discuss this later,
19:58but she insisted I leave with her.
20:00However, I apologized to my friends
20:02and went outside with her.
20:03We had an argument in the street.
20:05She wanted to come home with me,
20:07but I told her no.
20:08We both drove separately, obviously,
20:10so I drove home and told her not to follow me.
20:13When I got home,
20:14I sent her a long text
20:16telling her we need a break
20:17and I need space.
20:19Should I have done this in person?
20:20Yeah, probably.
20:21Text message breakups aren't fair most of the time,
20:24but honestly in the moment,
20:26I was scared of what her reaction would be in person.
20:28Of course,
20:30she started calling me over and over,
20:32blowing up my phone with texts.
20:34When I eventually stopped answering,
20:36I got aggressive pounds at my front door of my townhouse
20:38and constant rings from the doorbell.
20:40It got so bad that my neighbor actually came out
20:43and asked her what she was doing.
20:45I heard Emily screaming at him
20:46that I'm a piece of shit and this and that,
20:48and my neighbor calmly told her to go home.
20:51I listened to everything
20:52with my ear basically up to the door.
20:54She did leave,
20:55and honestly,
20:56I was kind of disturbed.
20:57I'm not saying the crazy just came out of nowhere,
21:00there were definitely signs,
21:01but I was blind to some of it
21:02because of the honeymoon effects.
21:04The next day,
21:05I remembered to stop sharing my location with her,
21:08and immediately,
21:09as if she were obsessively checking our texts,
21:11she angrily blows me up for doing that.
21:14I was more and more sure of my decision
21:16to cut ties with her every text she sent.
21:18My final text to her was,
21:20I'm sorry Emily,
21:21I have to block you for a while,
21:22you're scaring me.
21:23She surprisingly didn't come knocking or anything,
21:26however,
21:27I noticed she instantly stopped sharing her location as well.
21:30It was exactly one week later.
21:33I went over to Phil's house again
21:34and chilled with the guys.
21:36I left around 11pm and got home shortly after.
21:39I wasn't tired and I was hungry,
21:41so I threw some food in the microwave
21:43and plopped on the couch to watch a movie.
21:45I was browsing all the streaming apps for something good.
21:48I wanted a scary movie.
21:50When the microwave beeped and it went silent,
21:52I suddenly heard a click or thud from the dining room.
21:56So the layout of the downstairs of the townhouse,
21:58it looped around in a circle.
22:00It went from the kitchen to dining room to living room to den,
22:03and they were all separated by a wall in the middle.
22:06However,
22:06the dent of the dining room had a door,
22:08not an opening.
22:09I attached this photo to give a better idea.
22:12To allow for complete silence,
22:14I grabbed the TV remote and muted the TV,
22:16and it was then that I surely heard the door
22:19separating the den and the dining room clicking open.
22:22I peered into the dining room.
22:24I blurted out,
22:25who's in here?
22:26to of course nothing in response.
22:28I entered the dining room,
22:30my blood running cold as I saw that door was opened.
22:33I have a thing for keeping doors in my home shut,
22:35and that door was no exception.
22:37I went to the kitchen
22:39and grabbed the biggest knife from the knife block.
22:41I also called 911 right away.
22:43I had never called 911 once in my life.
22:47This was a first.
22:48On the phone,
22:49I spoke really loud
22:50so that whoever was in there
22:51would hear that I was on the phone with the police.
22:54Whether this was a good idea or not,
22:55I guess is debatable.
22:57I said,
22:57I think my crazy ex-girlfriend
22:59has broken into my house.
23:00Please send someone.
23:01The rest of that call
23:02was explaining what exactly was going on,
23:05why I thought it was my ex,
23:06and her instructing me to wait outside if possible.
23:09So I went outside
23:10and waited not far from the front door.
23:13Surprisingly quickly,
23:14a police car rolled up.
23:15I once again briefly explained
23:17what I thought was going on,
23:18and I led the officer into my home.
23:20We both performed the most thorough search
23:23of the place together,
23:24and I'm telling you,
23:24no one was in there.
23:26We checked the mini crawl space,
23:27hidden in the closet.
23:29We checked every closet for that matter.
23:31We checked under the beds,
23:32under the couches,
23:33even the mini attic too.
23:35When the coast was quite literally clear,
23:37he told me to call again if I heard anything,
23:39which said to me that he believed me
23:41and knew I wasn't making it up
23:42or going crazy.
23:44My night was obviously disturbed after that.
23:46No way I was going to be able to sit
23:48in the living room and watch a movie now.
23:50I ate my food,
23:51which had been sitting in the microwave,
23:52and went up to my room
23:53and locked the door.
23:55I texted all my friends and family,
23:57of course,
23:57about how spooked I was,
23:59but given that no one was in there,
24:00I had to dismiss it
24:01as just one of those creepy moments
24:03of something in the house
24:04moving by itself.
24:05I almost texted Emily,
24:07but refrained from doing so.
24:09I took a melatonin,
24:10and from what I remember,
24:11I quickly drifted off to sleep surprisingly.
24:14However,
24:15I'm a light sleeper,
24:16and something caused me to wake up.
24:18I didn't know what it was,
24:20but something in the room felt off.
24:22I checked my phone,
24:23and I had a bunch of texts
24:24from a random number.
24:26That must have been what woke me up.
24:28I quickly realized it was Emily.
24:31In short,
24:31without reading the paragraph she sent me,
24:33she was stating how sorry she was
24:35and that she wanted to talk.
24:37She was begging me to see her
24:38to talk tomorrow in person,
24:40and the rest of the texts
24:41were her saying,
24:42are you awake,
24:43and wake up over and over.
24:45She said wake up
24:45a total of eight times over text.
24:48Surprisingly,
24:48she hadn't tried calling me though.
24:50I responded,
24:51why are you awake right now?
24:53This is crazy
24:53that you're blowing me up
24:54at an hour like this.
24:56Honestly,
24:56if I wasn't sure before,
24:58your actions
24:58just these past few days alone
25:00have confirmed
25:00that I don't want anything
25:01to do with you anymore.
25:03Please just leave me alone.
25:05Seconds after I pressed send,
25:06I heard a scream
25:07from inside of the closet
25:08next to my bed.
25:10It was Emily's voice,
25:11yelling the word no,
25:13and then the closet door
25:14burst open.
25:16I didn't have time
25:17to think of anything
25:17besides jumping out of the bed
25:19and getting that bedroom door open
25:20and getting out of the room.
25:22It wasn't locked anymore,
25:23mind you.
25:24Once out of the room,
25:25I pushed the door shut
25:26and held it shut
25:27as she tried opening the door.
25:29She didn't just try
25:30opening it though.
25:31She started stabbing the door
25:33and I saw the knife
25:34she was wielding
25:35piercing through my side.
25:36In the moment,
25:37I decided to scream,
25:38baby,
25:39I love you,
25:39stop,
25:40instead of something like,
25:41you're sick
25:42and you need help.
25:43When I said I loved her,
25:45she stopped
25:45and calmed down
25:46and I took this moment
25:47to call 911 again silently
25:49while still holding
25:50the door shut.
25:51At this moment,
25:52we spoke through the door
25:53to each other
25:54while I had 911 on the line
25:55and I came up
25:56with some bullshit
25:57on the spot
25:57that I was going
25:58through a rough time
25:59right now
25:59but that I loved her
26:00and was planning
26:01on getting back with her.
26:03She said in a frantic voice,
26:04that's all I wanted to hear,
26:05why couldn't you
26:06just be honest with me?
26:07She asked me
26:08to open the door.
26:09I had to stall though.
26:11I told her I was scared
26:12and wanted her
26:13to drop the knife.
26:15Eventually,
26:15she agreed
26:16and I told her
26:17to throw it across the room
26:18so I could hear it land.
26:19She did so.
26:21I heard the clang
26:22of the knife
26:23ricocheting off the wall
26:24and onto the floor.
26:25So what I did next,
26:27I yanked the door open
26:28and tackled Emily
26:29to the floor.
26:31She screamed and fought
26:32and went hysterical.
26:33I didn't care.
26:35I held her down
26:36as I yelled my address
26:37and everything
26:37into the phone
26:38which was still connected
26:39to 911.
26:40I held her down
26:41all the way
26:42until the police arrived.
26:44To my surprise,
26:45the police literally
26:46kicked the front door down
26:47and it was so loud
26:48it could be heard
26:49over Emily struggling
26:50all the way upstairs.
26:52Police entered
26:52the room quickly,
26:53a surprising amount
26:54of police actually.
26:56Emily was put in cuffs quickly
26:58and she was hysterically crying.
27:00I think the only reason
27:01I wasn't crying
27:02was because I was in such shock.
27:04This was the worst,
27:05most scarring night
27:06of my life.
27:08The nightmare
27:08didn't end there though.
27:10There was such a long
27:11and serious legal process
27:12that followed
27:13as far as getting
27:14Emily convicted.
27:15I never wanted my name
27:17or any info
27:18to be out there
27:18on the internet
27:19to end up on one
27:19of those crime
27:20YouTube channels.
27:21so I've been careful
27:22about leaking
27:23too much information
27:23that could get back to me.
27:25Emily's in prison
27:26for some very serious charges.
27:28No part of that
27:29makes me happy.
27:30This was someone
27:31I spent a little chunk
27:32of my life with
27:33more or less every day.
27:34Someone I thought I loved.
27:36Someone who tried
27:37to kill me.
27:38She was not right
27:39in the head
27:40and it still pains me
27:41how oblivious I was.
27:43Not only because
27:43of how infatuated
27:44I became at first,
27:46but because of my own
27:47lack of self-confidence
27:48to a degree
27:49that I was so focused
27:50on impressing her
27:50at first
27:51that I didn't even
27:52pay attention
27:52to certain alarming
27:53behaviors on her part
27:54early on.
27:56I know this will stick
27:57with me forever
27:58and honestly,
27:59even if anonymously,
28:00it would feel good
28:01to get the story
28:01out there finally
28:02if it's chosen to be read.
