00:00I once met this dude named Matt when I was out with friends at a bar one summer.
00:12I was out with a big group, and Matt and I made friends at the bar vibing over the Cubs game that was on.
00:18My group kind of dispersed away from me as I spoke with Matt, so it wasn't like Matt really spoke to any of my friends.
00:24We ended up exchanging Instagrams, and he had a decent amount of followers on Instagram, and his pictures made him seem like a normal 20-something-year-old dude who likes to go out, travel, and stay active.
00:36After we exchanged info, I went to go find my group.
00:40Honestly, whenever you bro out with another guy while you're at a bar, the odds of ever actually contacting each other again after exchanging info are slim to none.
00:48You always act like you'll hit them up, but come the next day when you're sober, you just have no interest.
00:54Well, the next day, which was a Saturday, I went out to another bar slash restaurant with my friends.
01:00This was an outdoor spot on the water.
01:03It was for my friend Tyler's birthday.
01:06I put something on my Instagram story as we all sang at the bar for him.
01:10After about an hour, we were done with dinner and just hanging around the outside section of the bar, when I got a tap on my shoulder.
01:18I turned around, and it was Matt.
01:20He dabbed me up with a smile, and said this was his favorite Saturday night spot.
01:25I introduced Matt more officially to my friends this time, saying,
01:29You guys remember Matt?
01:30Even if they hadn't really spoken to him, they did see him the night before.
01:34Well, as the night went on, Matt kind of hung around for a while, and it was fine because everyone was drunk, including him, and everyone was just having a good time.
01:42The next time I saw Matt was when he invited me golfing on a hot day.
01:48Honestly, I suck at golfing, but it's something I want to get better at, so when he invited me early one Sunday morning, I went.
01:54I think it was literally the following weekend after I saw him last.
01:59It was just him and I going.
02:01I tried to get a couple of my friends to go, but they were too hungover and said it was too early.
02:07Matt and I just vibed playing golf.
02:09I think it was only nine holes.
02:11It took us like two hours.
02:13Afterwards, we got food, and then I went home to relax before work the next day.
02:18I saw Matt one more time out after that, before he invited me on a hiking trip with him to Arizona.
02:24Honestly, Arizona and the Grand Canyon were always on my bucket list.
02:28I just checked the dates with work and confirmed I was able to go first, and I was an immediate yes.
02:34I asked Tyler and a couple of other friends to come with, but they were heavy no's.
02:39They said they couldn't get the time off work and needed to save money, the typical responses from any of my friends when I try to get them on a trip.
02:45I asked Matt if any of his boys were going, and he said nah, he was going solo-dolo.
02:51I actually hadn't met any of Matt's friends yet.
02:54His Instagram painted him as this super popular guy though, so I didn't find it weird.
02:59We flew out on August 15th, and our return flights to Chicago were August 18th.
03:05We landed at night.
03:07Matt rented a car for the weekends, and on the way to the Airbnb, we stopped for food and alcohol.
03:12By the time we got to the Airbnb, it was late.
03:16We had a couple of beers when we got there, and I could tell that Matt was down to stay up longer, but I was admittedly shot and wanted to go to sleep.
03:24This was when I realized there was only one bed in the Airbnb.
03:28I had never asked him to confirm that there were two bedrooms.
03:31When I brought it up, he pointed to the couch I was sitting on and said it's a pull-out couch.
03:36He then said relax, and that he's not going to charge me for the Airbnb.
03:39Honestly, if we stay in Arizona, I couldn't complain about the couch.
03:44I pulled out the sofa bed, set up the sheets, and went to sleep.
03:48It was surprisingly comfortable.
03:51In the middle of the night, I woke up to Matt walking through the living room to the kitchen to get water.
03:56I'm a light sleeper, the sound of a pin drop will make me wake up.
04:00I rolled over and went back to sleep.
04:02The next morning, Matt woke me up early.
04:06It was a sunny, gorgeous day, and we drove straight to the Grand Canyon.
04:10I had no idea just how massive it truly was, or how many individual trail options there were.
04:16We hiked the Bright Angel, I think.
04:19I didn't realize how out of shape I was until that day.
04:23Matt was perfectly fine, laughing and telling me to keep up while I was dripping in sweat and out of breath.
04:28We took numerous breaks, which we used to take a million amazing pictures.
04:33It was beautiful.
04:35Eventually, we got back to the car.
04:37We had been hiking for over two to three hours, and I needed food.
04:41We stopped by a deli on the way back.
04:44It was a long drive back to Phoenix, and when we got there, we took a midday nap,
04:49and then after that, we explored around Phoenix.
04:52And of course, in Matt fashion, we drank at multiple bars.
04:56I barely knew the guy, but I could already see he liked his alcohol.
05:01Fast forward, we got really, really drunk.
05:04But I think I got drunker, and I'm not sure how, because Matt was downing as many drinks as me.
05:10We had to leave the rental on the street and Uber back to the Airbnb.
05:14It was late.
05:15Time flew by somehow.
05:17I don't remember much besides Matt blasting music in the Airbnb for a bit,
05:21and my plugging my phone in next to the couch.
05:23I guess I just went to sleep after that.
05:27That night, I woke up randomly, probably a couple of hours after I fell asleep.
05:33My bladder was about to explode, and my mouth was drier than the Grand Canyon.
05:38I got off the couch and headed toward the bathroom, but I heard something.
05:43A crack in the floor.
05:44Like a crack from pressure.
05:45I scanned around the dark room with my eyes and saw nothing, so I went to the bathroom.
05:52While I was in there, mid-stream, I heard a door clicking shut.
05:56It had to be Matt's bedroom door.
05:59When I finished peeing, I went to try Matt's door, but it was locked.
06:03I knocked on the door, but there was no answer.
06:07Whatever.
06:07I went back to the couch and fell back asleep pretty easily.
06:10The next morning, I woke up at like 8am, head throbbing.
06:15The first thing I noticed was my phone.
06:18It was in a weird position.
06:19I had it charging last night and left it laying on the floor next to the couch bed,
06:24but now, it was sitting on the table next to the couch, and it was unplugged.
06:29I was questioning why I might have done this, but ultimately, my answer was simple.
06:34I was just super drunk.
06:36That day, we obviously didn't do any hiking, otherwise I would have puked.
06:40We just Ubered to the car and then did some driving around,
06:43exploring different neighborhoods, scenery, and checking out the botanical gardens.
06:47I didn't really want to drink that day, but later on, Matt convinced me.
06:51And wouldn't you know it, it was another night of getting really, really drunk.
06:56Our flight was at like 1pm the following day,
06:58so at least we didn't have to worry about getting up really early.
07:02We got back to the Airbnb late again.
07:04I'd say between 1 and 2am this time.
07:08Matt insisted on letting me sleep in the bed that night, just because it was fair.
07:12Honestly, I didn't argue.
07:14I eventually took my bag to his room, and then said goodnight and shut the door.
07:18I didn't lock it.
07:20Not that it mattered, because the locks from what I remembered
07:23had those doorknobs with locks that you could easily unlock with like a butter knife or something.
07:27I wish I could say the story ended there, and that we went home in peace the next day.
07:31Well, I woke up that night, probably not long after I fell asleep.
07:37I didn't know what woke me up at first.
07:39It's like waking up to a sound, but you didn't fully consciously hear that sound,
07:42because you were still technically asleep when it caused you to wake up.
07:45I looked around the room, and then for my phone.
07:49My phone was missing.
07:51I had it plugged in next to the bed, and had the phone on the bed next to me.
07:55But now the cord was just dangling from the outlet to the ground with no phone.
07:59How could this happen again?
08:00I looked on one side of the bed on the floor, and then the other, and I jumped up and screamed
08:06at the top of my lungs, when I saw Matt laying face down sprawled out on that side of the
08:11bed on the floor.
08:12He looked up, looking like he'd just woken up from a deep sleep.
08:16I shouted, what are you doing?
08:18He looked around the room, acting confused, like he didn't know how he got there.
08:22He stood up and said that he must have been so blacked out that he just walked in here
08:26to go to bed, but then remembered I was in the bed, and he crashed on the floor.
08:31But that didn't make sense, because he was on the side of the bed further from the door.
08:35I then accused him of taking my phone, and he played dumb.
08:39He said I should check under the bed, maybe it fell.
08:42Then he got on his knees, looked under the bed, and instantly said,
08:46Bro, here it is, and he pulled it out from under the bed.
08:49I looked at him, and I genuinely felt like I was staring at a different person now.
08:54Who was this guy?
08:55Did he really try getting into my phone twice?
08:59I told him I'll just go back to the couch, but he insisted he would, and then he left
09:03the room.
09:05You bet your ass I locked the door this time.
09:07If it weren't for the phone, sure, I'd just see it as he was really drunk and did something
09:11goofy, like come pass out on the floor, but I was detecting bullshit there.
09:16He took my phone, and I know it.
09:19Since I was still kind of drunk, I didn't really have much trouble falling back asleep.
09:22Once again, I wish it ended there, but it didn't.
09:27I woke up one more time that night, and this time, I quickly realized why.
09:32At the foot of my bed was Matt standing there, but all I could really see was his silhouette.
09:37For some reason, I didn't jump or scream this time.
09:41He sat down on the bed, and started rubbing my foot, and that's when I screamed at him
09:46to get out.
09:47He wouldn't move, so I had to physically push him off the bed and out the bedroom door.
09:52I started packing my clothes into my bag, and then quickly packed all my toiletries,
09:57and whatever else I packed.
09:59He didn't say a word.
10:00He sat upright on the couch, watching me like a creepy NPC the entire time.
10:05It was the most unsettling part.
10:07I called an Uber to the airport.
10:09I wasn't staying there another minute.
10:11He didn't try to stop me.
10:13I got to the airport just as the sun was starting to rise, and as hard as I tried to sleep,
10:18I couldn't.
10:19My mind was just racing.
10:21I waited there the entire time for the flight.
10:24I paid like $35 to change my seat so I wouldn't be next to Matt.
10:28I looked out the window the entire time the plane was boarding so I wouldn't have to make
10:32eye contact with him.
10:34I didn't tell any of my friends until later that day.
10:37I just needed time to process and digest everything.
10:40A couple of my friends said, see, I told you he was weird, and pointed out that both times
10:45we ran into him, he was alone.
10:46It got me also thinking that the only reason he ran into me at the outdoor bar was because
10:52he saw my Instagram story and probably came there.
10:55Actual stalker behavior.
10:58I blocked his number and Instagram, but before doing so, I went to one of his older Instagram
11:03posts where he was with friends.
11:05No one was tagged in the picture, but I looked at the comments, and there was one comment from
11:10a guy who looked like he was in the picture.
11:12I saw that Matt wasn't even following him or vice versa.
11:15I took it upon myself to DM the guy, asking if he was still friends with Matt.
11:21The guy responded back within 10 minutes, saying this, nah, guy's a freak, run away.
11:27From there, he told me about his own experience along with the other guys who used to be friends
11:31with him, who all had to cut him off.
11:33The guy untagged himself for Matt's photo, but he said he can't forcibly get him to take
11:37down the picture.
11:38He wasn't surprised at all when I told him what had happened in Arizona, and the guy's
11:43response was, guy should be in jail.
11:46It's crazy that I thought Matt was just a normal dude who was looking for a bro, but
11:50he ended up being a potentially dangerous predator.
11:52I still just wanted to know what he was trying to access on my phone.
12:06This happened last summer, around mid-July.
12:09I was home from college for a few weeks, and I was just trying to enjoy the break before
12:13my next semester started.
12:15My name's Kyle, and I live in Maryland.
12:18I had been talking with my two closest friends, Jason and Marcus, about doing something together.
12:23Just the three of us, like we used to back in high school.
12:27We all go to different colleges now, so it's rare that we get time like this.
12:31We ended up planning a weekend beach trip to Ocean City.
12:35Jason's family owns a small beach house there that they don't use much, and he got permission
12:39for us to stay there for a few days.
12:41It was nothing fancy, just a two-bedroom place a couple blocks off the sand, but it
12:46was perfect for what we needed.
12:48Just time to relax, party a bit, and catch up.
12:52We drove down on a Friday afternoon.
12:55The weather was hot, upper 80s, with that heavy humid air that sticks to your skin.
13:00It smelled like sunscreen and salt water the second we got into town.
13:04We spent the day walking the boardwalk, messing around in some of the arcades, and people watching.
13:09The beach was packed with tourists, kids running around with beach balls, families with umbrellas
13:15and coolers, and lifeguards constantly yelling at people to move out of the restricted areas.
13:21Everything felt normal.
13:22It was just a fun summer day.
13:25Later, we went back to the house, grilled burgers, had a few drinks, and started playing
13:30drinking games.
13:31By midnight, we were drunk and bored, and someone, maybe Marcus, suggested we go back to the beach.
13:37There's something weirdly appealing about being near the ocean at night.
13:41The beach is almost completely empty, the air cools down, and there's just something peaceful
13:46about it.
13:47We didn't bring much with us, just some hoodies in case we get cold, our phones, and a flashlight
13:52Jason grabbed from the kitchen drawer.
13:55We didn't plan to swim around or anything, just hang out and maybe walk along the shore.
13:59We headed down a side street and onto the wooden boardwalk, then took the steps down to the
14:05sand.
14:06As expected, it was basically completely deserted.
14:10The waves were steady, and the only light came from a few lamps on the boardwalk and
14:14the moon behind some clouds.
14:16There was barely enough visibility to make out where the water met the shore.
14:20We walked along the edge of the surf, occasionally letting the cold water hit our ankles.
14:26We joked around, talked about random stuff, and just killed time.
14:30After a while, we stopped near one of the lifeguard towers.
14:33Those wooden ones they take down at night, and we just laid in the sand, looking up at
14:37the sky.
14:38That's when Jason noticed something.
14:41He suddenly sat up and said, is that someone walking over there?
14:43We all sat up and looked in the direction he was pointing.
14:48At first, I didn't see anything.
14:50It just looked like a dark blur near the shoreline.
14:53But then, yeah, I saw it.
14:55A figure.
14:56But it was just a silhouette at that point, walking slowly, right along the edge of where
15:01the water touched the sand, probably 50 or 60 yards away.
15:06We figured it was just another person out late like us, maybe just going for a walk.
15:10But then we noticed that their movement was off.
15:12They weren't strolling around like someone enjoying the beach.
15:16Their walk was stiff, slow, and almost mechanical.
15:20Their arms didn't swing naturally, and their posture was strange.
15:24Their head was tilted down, but not fully.
15:27It looked like they were staring at the sand, or maybe scanning it.
15:31We all stopped talking and just quietly watched them.
15:34Something about it put me on edge.
15:37I remember whispering, what the hell are they doing?
15:39Marcus suggested that maybe they're just looking for something.
15:43Jason joked that it was probably some drunk tourist who dropped their keys.
15:47We kind of laughed it off and went back to messing around, but I kept glancing at the person.
15:53A few minutes passed, and I noticed they had stopped moving.
15:56They weren't walking anymore.
15:58They were standing completely still now, and they were definitely closer.
16:02Maybe 30 yards away.
16:03That's when I started feeling uncomfortable.
16:07We tried not to stare or shine our light at them, but it was getting hard to ignore.
16:11There was just something off about the entire thing.
16:14Marcus finally said,
16:16They've been standing there for like 5 minutes.
16:18Who just stands like that?
16:20Then Jason said something that made my stomach drop.
16:23He said,
16:24He's not just standing.
16:25He's looking at you, Kyle.
16:27I didn't know if he was joking or not.
16:29I kind of laughed nervously and said,
16:31Nah, he's looking at the sand.
16:33But Jason shook his head and said,
16:35No, look closer.
16:36His head's tilted at you.
16:38That's when Jason pointed the flashlight at him.
16:41I didn't even want him to do that honestly,
16:43but he clicked it on and aimed the beam.
16:46The light hit the figure for just a second before the battery started dying,
16:50and it flickered out.
16:51But that second was enough.
16:53I saw him.
16:54He was almost grayish-white with no shirt.
16:59He was wearing wet jeans, clearly from the ocean.
17:02His arms hung completely limp at his sides.
17:05His head was tilted at a weird angle.
17:07Not broken, but unnatural.
17:10And his eyes.
17:11His eyes were wide open, almost bulging.
17:14The second that beam of light hit him,
17:16he moved.
17:17Fast.
17:18Without any hesitation,
17:20he broke into a full sprint straight at us.
17:22I can't even describe how unnatural it looked.
17:26There was no buildup.
17:27He went from standing completely still to running at full speed,
17:31almost like he launched forward.
17:33All three of us screamed and bolted.
17:35We didn't even look back.
17:36We just ran.
17:38I could hear Marcus behind me,
17:40yelling,
17:40Go!
17:40as our feet pounded into the sand.
17:43My lungs were burning.
17:45We ran all the way back to the steps leading up to the boardwalk
17:48and didn't stop until we got to the street.
17:50Only then did we turn around.
17:52But he wasn't there.
17:54The beach was empty.
17:56There were no footprints behind us,
17:57just the sound of waves.
17:59We stood there frozen,
18:01trying to make sense of it.
18:03We didn't talk much on the walk back to the house.
18:06When we got inside,
18:07we locked all the doors and windows,
18:09pulled the blinds shut,
18:10and stayed up until the sun came up.
18:12None of us could sleep.
18:14I kept expecting to hear knocking
18:16or see that pale face outside the window,
18:19but thankfully it never came.
18:21The next morning,
18:22we tried to laugh it off again,
18:24say it was probably just some cracked out homeless guy
18:26trying to scare people,
18:27but deep down,
18:28none of us believed that.
18:30The way he moved,
18:31the way he appeared out of nowhere,
18:33the lack of footprints,
18:35it made no sense.
18:36We stayed one more night,
18:38but we didn't leave the house.
18:40We left early the next morning.
18:42Over the next few weeks,
18:44we tried to move on,
18:45but then Jason texted me one night.
18:48He said he'd been having dreams,
18:50the same dream over and over.
18:52He'd wake up and see the guy
18:53standing in the corner of his room,
18:55soaking wet,
18:56head tilted,
18:57just staring at him.
18:59No movement,
19:00no talking,
19:01just standing.
19:02I told him that was messed up,
19:04but I didn't tell him
19:05that I was having the exact same dream.
19:07Everything was the same,
19:08the guy,
19:09the posture,
19:10just standing in my room,
19:12not moving and not talking.
19:14Sometimes I wake up thinking I hear the sound of wet footsteps in my hallway,
19:18but when I check,
19:19no one's there.
19:21Then,
19:22last week,
19:23almost a year later,
19:24I was scrolling through this local Facebook group
19:26that posts about stuff going on in Ocean City.
19:29Someone uploaded a photo they'd taken the night before from the beach.
19:33It was grainy and dark,
19:35but I recognized what they were talking about.
19:37They said,
19:38does anyone know who this creepy guy is
19:40that I saw standing by the water at like 1am?
19:43I clicked the photo.
19:45It was blurry,
19:46but I recognized him instantly.
19:49Same posture,
19:50same pale skin,
19:51he was just looking down at the water.
19:54The comments chilled me even more.
19:56There were dozens of people saying they'd seen him too.
19:59Some said he was there for hours.
20:01One person said they watched him walk into the water
20:03and never came back out.
20:05Another said they found wet footprints on their back porch
20:07two streets from the beach,
20:09no prints leading to or from them.
20:12I don't know what we saw that night,
20:14but I know this,
20:16I'll never go back to that beach at night again.
20:26I grew up in Massachusetts,
20:30and every summer since I could remember,
20:32I would spend the three months
20:34in a classic coastal New England town.
20:36You know the type if you've been in that area of the country.
20:39I had a big group of friends
20:41who always did the same thing,
20:42and we would get up to all kinds of shenanigans
20:44every day after our respective jobs.
20:47I was 19 years old when this happened,
20:49like most of my friends,
20:50and I had just gotten off of a dock boy job I had.
20:54So like any other night,
20:55I texted my friends what the plan was
20:57and picked up my friend who I'll call Emerson
20:59from his job to go get alcohol,
21:01as he was the one with a fake ID.
21:03We got the alcohol
21:04and went back to the small town where we lived.
21:07We decided to get on my family's boat
21:08that I was able to take out on my own,
21:10to have some beers while we wait
21:11for everyone else to finish what they were doing.
21:14We drove around the little peninsula we were on
21:16to this place where a lot of people anchor and hang out.
21:19There were a couple of boats anchored already,
21:22and it was about 7 p.m.
21:23but it still wasn't unusual.
21:26We found a spot between the two boats,
21:28threw the anchor down,
21:29and just chilled and drank.
21:31We were having a nice time,
21:33listening to the music from the boat to our left,
21:35when the one to our right decided to leave,
21:37and then eventually the other boat's music shut off.
21:40We thought they were going to leave as well,
21:42so Emerson and I, in our new drunken state,
21:44began to groan and yell to turn the music back on
21:47and keep the party going
21:48and a bunch of other stupid stuff like that,
21:50but it didn't happen.
21:52We were sitting on the bow and started to drink again,
21:55before Emerson said,
21:56Dude, look.
21:57I turned around to look at the boat
21:59and saw three people standing on the edge,
22:02just looking at us.
22:03My first reaction was to laugh because I was drunk,
22:06and then I turned back around,
22:07but Emerson kept staring at them.
22:10Now, admittedly,
22:11I don't have a great sense of danger.
22:13I tend to be optimistic and lighthearted about most things,
22:17but Emerson was obviously uncomfortable.
22:19I told him not to worry about it,
22:21they were probably just trying to get a better look or something,
22:24but he kept looking with an uncomfortable look on his face,
22:27which I didn't get at the time.
22:29At this point, it's pretty dark,
22:31nothing illuminating the area but the lights from their boat,
22:34and therefore you couldn't really see who it was,
22:36just the silhouettes of these people.
22:39After a couple of minutes of trying to get Emerson to snap out of it,
22:42I turned back around and saw they were in the same position,
22:44staring at us.
22:46I thought it was a joke,
22:47so I got the megaphone from the compartment over the steering wheel
22:50and said,
22:5120 to watch, fellas,
22:52which pissed Emerson off because he sensed something wasn't right.
22:56I was putting it back when I heard one of them laugh,
22:59audibly a man,
23:00but something was off about it.
23:02It sounded almost sinister.
23:04It was slow and low,
23:06and it was kind of raspy.
23:08It was at that point that I started to feel uncomfortable.
23:12Emerson got up and said,
23:13let's get the hell out of here, bro,
23:14this ain't right,
23:15but I responded that it was fine.
23:17Right after that,
23:19we heard two splashes in the water from their direction
23:21and saw that only one silhouette remained on the boat.
23:24That made Emerson immediately start pulling the anchor up
23:27as I was laughing at the situation and at him,
23:30which, looking back now,
23:31was unbelievably stupid.
23:32He tried telling me to turn the engine on while I was laughing my ass off,
23:36watching him pull the anchor up as I was trying to drink my beer.
23:40In fact,
23:41I was laughing so much that I didn't notice the sound of the two people swimming near our boat.
23:45Emerson paused and looked at me with the anchor in his hands,
23:48which made me pause too.
23:50We couldn't see into the water as it was dark and the lights were off with the boat.
23:55I called out hello and got nothing,
23:58even the sound of the splashing water stomp.
24:00Right after that,
24:02I simultaneously heard Emerson yell,
24:04oh,
24:04and a sudden splash of water behind me
24:07before I turned and saw someone trying to climb onto the back of our boat.
24:11I freaked the fuck out,
24:12and while turning the key,
24:13I saw a hand grab the railing on the side of our boat near Emerson,
24:16who was yelling and holding the anchor up,
24:18ready to fight.
24:19I finally turned the boat on and instinctively gunned it forward,
24:23smashing into the sandbar that was right in front of us.
24:26I put it in reverse and drove backwards as fast as possible
24:29until we were out of the little bay and back into more open water.
24:33I threw it back in neutral,
24:35and Emerson and I just looked at each other
24:36before he started giving me the I told you so's and you're a dumbass.
24:41I fully agreed and said we should go back,
24:43at which he agreed.
24:45In hindsight,
24:46we should have hightailed it back to the boat docks near my house,
24:49but for some reason,
24:50we decided to pick up everything that was thrown around during our escape.
24:54We didn't even finish before I noticed in the direction we just came from,
24:58the lights of a boat approaching,
24:59and it was approaching fast.
25:01I said no fucking way,
25:03and jumped back to the steering wheel and pushed full throttle.
25:06Our boat is old,
25:07so it doesn't go super fast,
25:09and even though I was full speed ahead,
25:11they were gaining on us.
25:13Emerson started to lose it,
25:14saying things like,
25:15who are these guys?
25:16What do they want?
25:17Why can't they just let us chill on the water?
25:19So I told them to chill out,
25:21and focused on going straight to the docks.
25:23After about five minutes,
25:25the docks were in sight,
25:26but the boat behind us was so close
25:27that we could see the bow itself going up and down with the waves.
25:31I honestly didn't know what to do.
25:33I banged a hard left,
25:34and got as close to the shore as I could without beaching,
25:37and miraculously,
25:38the other boat peeled off in the other direction.
25:41We breathed sighs of relief,
25:42but I still went full speed back to the docks.
25:45After docking and being relieved at the fact
25:47that there wasn't any damage to the boat,
25:49we met up with our friends after that,
25:51and told them what had happened,
25:52and also came up with some theories,
25:54like maybe they wanted to rob us,
25:56or maybe they wanted to take the boat.
25:58We didn't recognize the boat,
25:59so they probably weren't from around here.
26:02I don't know.
26:03I don't like to think about what would have happened.
26:05I'm just glad we didn't find out.
26:07I do know that I'm thankful for Emerson being there.
26:10Without his skepticism,
26:12I think things definitely could have taken a turn for the worst.
