06:29No.
06:29No.
06:30It's okay.
06:30I don't want you, uh, I want you to introduce me because I'm the best
07:00of your ceremonies.
07:01Okay.
07:02So just thank you all for being here, and now to begin the ceremony, Neu Heidecker, Giamato's
07:10son would like to start the ceremony.
07:16Welcome to the Giamato's stage.
07:21I am here.
07:23I am master of ceremony.
07:26I am the master of ceremonies, Neu Heidecker.
07:30Um, and welcome me up here.
07:37All right.
07:44Thank you, everybody.
07:47Thank you for being here.
07:49I wish we were here under different circumstances, but we are here today to remember the life and
07:57celebrate the life of G, uh, Gabriel Giamato.
08:02And, uh, it's, um, been very difficult, but today is about, uh, trying to shine a light
08:08and remember the great life he had and not wallow in, uh, thinking about him passing away.
08:15Um, I need a program, Mark, because the first thing we're going to do is sing a hymn.
08:20One of, uh, Giamato's favorite songs from church, and I need a program.
08:25I was not given a program.
08:27If you open your program to page one or two, I guess, right there in the, open it.
08:34Uh, this is Be Not Afraid by, uh, well, this is Be Not Afraid.
08:55You shall cross the desert, but you shall, but you shall not die of thirst.
09:07You shall wander far in safety, though you do not know the way.
09:18You shall speak, speak your words in foreign lands, and all will understand.
09:31You shall see the face of God by living.
09:43You shall care.
09:49Be not afraid.
09:51I go before you always,
09:57Come follow me,
10:01And I will give you rest.
10:08If you pass, if you pass, if you pass through raging waters in the sea, you shall not drown.
10:22If you walk amidst the burning flames, you shall not be found.
10:35If you stumble before the power of hell and death is at your sight, you'll know that I will feel the truth at all.
10:59Be not afraid.
11:07Be not afraid.
11:09I go before you always.
11:15Come on.
11:17Be not afraid.
11:19Be not afraid.
11:21Be not afraid.
11:23Be not afraid.
11:25Be not afraid.
11:27Be not afraid.
11:29Be not afraid.
11:31All right.
11:32Thank you very much.
11:36Can you turn the music off, please?
11:38We don't have the third verse here.
11:41All right.
11:43That was beautiful.
11:51Yes, so we have a short video tribute to Mr. Amato that we would like to play right now.
14:01All right.
14:02All right.
14:08First in the program, we have a video message from a friend of Mr. Amato's, a friend of ours,
14:14who was recently deported to his home country of Italy.
14:19His name is Manuel from the band Dakar and DKR.
14:23He made a generous video contribution to the ceremony today.
14:28So this is Manuel from DKR.
14:35I'm devastated.
14:42This is Manuel Giusti.
14:44And then I'm in Italy right now.
14:48I got deported for all the immigration crap.
14:53And I just heard about the passing of Amato.
14:57And I cannot express how devastated I am.
15:01I can't believe such a good man got just passed away.
15:06I just can't believe it.
15:08It was like a mentor to me.
15:10Like we, I just can't, I remember all the talking about the Italian heritage when we're talking
15:17about Italian music and all the fun time that we spent together.
15:22And I just can't get it out of my head.
15:24I can't believe that such a great, great man passed away.
15:31I really wish I was be there.
15:33I could be there with you guys.
15:34Much love to all of you guys.
15:36And, and I'm totally devastated.
15:39I just can't believe it.
15:41Ciao.
15:54Hello?
15:55Kylie.
15:56Um, uh, Mr. Amato was a movie buff.
16:08Uh, he loves to talk about the golden days of Hollywood.
16:23And though he didn't collect movies themselves, he had a great collection of priceless movie
16:29memorabilia that I helped him locate.
16:31Um, in fact, this suit is a piece of priceless movie memorabilia.
16:36If you ever saw Decker, this is the original Kington the Codebreaker suit that we actually
16:42took out of storage for this, uh, funeral.
16:45Uh, Mr. Amato was also a movie producer.
16:49And it's regretful that the movie he produced, the Pep Boys story, has not yet come out.
16:55But one day it will.
16:57I was able to talk to Mr. Amato about movies on more than one occasion.
17:02And I have compiled for you here today a list of three movies that Mr. Amato loved, that
17:09you should try to see in his memory.
17:11Make it two.
17:12We're not doing three movies.
17:13We're doing three movies that he loved.
17:16And if you can see these within 48 hours of, um, this speech, that would be great in
17:22memory of Mr. Amato.
17:25Number one, The Ten Commandments.
17:30Now this, uh, movie is not just a popcorn classic.
17:33It's a Guinness Book Record holder as one of the ten longest movies of all time.
17:37And it's only one minute shorter than Gone with the Wind.
17:41Mr. Amato owned a priceless prop from The Ten Commandments, a sandal that he treasured.
17:47And that some of the residents at Grand Terrace were lucky enough to see in person.
17:52Mr. Amato also owned the famous can of soup from the Ma and Pa Kelo movies, which sadly,
17:58due to his own fault, um, not due to any prop master, anyone associated with the Pep Boys
18:06movie, um, Mr. Amato ate, which was not the best.
18:10Okay.
18:11Anyway, he ate the soup, which was not the best thing to do.
18:16Please do not bring a murder weapon at him, especially by the, delivered by the guy who
18:20delivered, delivered a weapon into my father's home.
18:24So cut that shit out.
18:27I apologize.
18:29Continue.
18:33The, basically the soup should have been kept in a trophy case, not in the kitchen.
18:38It should have been in a trophy case because it was a priceless collective.
18:41All right.
18:42No, no.
18:43What?
18:44Okay.
18:45Um, number two, The Searchers, starring John Wayne from True Grit, which he won an Oscar
18:59for.
19:00Mr. Amato loved Westerns and had pretty good knowledge of them, not VFA level, but definitely
19:04worthy of the title of True Blue Movie Buff.
19:08He definitely knew a lot more movies about, a lot more about movies than Tim, his son,
19:13who doesn't, uh, have basic knowledge on the subject of movies.
19:17Um, The Searchers is 119 Minutes and co-stars Natalie Wood from?
19:23Right.
19:24We have to rebel.
19:27Rebel without a cause, which also starred, uh, James Dean from Decker versus Dracula.
19:35Uh, number three, The Switch.
19:38Uh, this was from 2010, so a lot more recent.
19:42Mr. Amato liked newer films as well as old ones.
19:45And this one starred Jennifer Aniston.
19:47And I actually loaned it to him recently.
19:49We were in the process of dubbing it from DVD to video because it hadn't come out at video
19:55because it came out five or six years after they stopped manufacturing, uh, videos.
20:01But I loaned it to him at Grand Terrace and he asked what it was about and I said,
20:04don't ask, just watch.
20:05It's a popcorn classic, which is all you need to know.
20:08Uh, you should definitely see it and you should all see The Switch.
20:12It's very cool.
20:13Um, anyway, he died just a couple days after that conversation.
20:16Um, I don't know if he saw it or not, but he would have loved it.
20:21And if, when you see it, you'll love it too.
20:24Uh, it also stars Jason Bateman, um, from Teen Wolf 2 and Jason Bateman from Zootopia 2,
20:33which comes out this week.
20:35And Zootopia 2 is a great sequel, even better than the original.
20:39Um, same characters teaming up once again to solve another case.
20:44And it also has Macaulay Culkin in it.
20:46From?
20:51Macaulay Culkin?
20:56Home Alone.
20:57Home Alone.
20:58Thank you, Kylie.
20:59Very cool.
21:00Five bags of popcorn.
21:01I asked you not to review that money.
21:02I want to apologize for that, uh, breach in decorum and the disrespect that you showed Mr.
21:26Amado here up on this dais was extreme and unprofessional and, uh, not something anybody here wants.
21:36Uh, I normally would, uh, be reviewing movies with you, but this is not the week for that.
21:45I asked you not to bring up, uh, the Zootopia review because we will, there's always time for that in other forums, not here, not today.
21:56And for you to be specific about how he passed away with the details that you colored to make it sound like you have no responsibility for this is also not welcome.
22:12And I showed a lot of grace and dignity and humility by giving you the platform to speak on him because of your relationship with him and you abused it.
22:20No.
22:21And I, uh, there's, there was a lot of blame to go, there's a lot of blame to go around and I will ask Mark to escort you out of here if you continue.
22:30Mark?
22:31That's the, now just, that's your warning.
22:37But he loved the Ten Commandments and he would have wanted that.
22:42I agree.
22:44All right.
22:45We want to keep this moving.
22:47Uh, speaking of Mark, uh, we have a, um, an opportunity or, you know, this is coming out of, uh, my pocket, this, this, this, uh, day of celebration.
22:59And, uh, Mark, if you have the basket, if you want, just, uh, show, uh, would appreciate anything you guys want to contribute to the services today.
23:10And we also are planning a memorial, um, plaque or something.
23:16We're not sure what we're going to do.
23:17We got to talk to the family about that, but Mark's going to pass around a gift basket.
23:21And if anyone has anything to put in there, we would appreciate it.
23:25All right.
23:26Uh, we're going to ask a friend of, uh, Reese, a new friend of, uh, G to come on up here, uh, while this is going out, uh, going on.
23:44Thank you so much.
23:46Um, we're going to ask Mary Ellen to come up and read a passage from scripture.
23:54Let's go.
24:10G. Amato was with us at Grand Terrace for a short time, but he made friends with everyone
24:19and was an avid participant in the Sunday afternoon Bible discussion group.
24:28As we pray and trust that a soul finds peace in God's heavenly embrace,
24:37we give thanks for the blessing of having known Mr. Amato.
24:44Now, I would like to share a couple of verses with you now.
24:55Daniel 12 to 3.
25:02Everyone whose name is found written in the book will be delivered.
25:08Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake.
25:14Some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.
25:23Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of heavens.
25:31Psalms 144 11.
25:34Rid me and deliver me from the hand of strange children whose mouth speaketh vanity,
25:42and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.
25:48Proverbs 18 2.
25:52Fools find no pleasure in understanding, but delight in airing their own opinions.
26:02Wisdom 3, 1-6.
26:05But the souls of the just are in the hand of God, and the torment of death shall not touch them.
26:15In the sight of the unwise, they seem to die, and their departure was taken for misery.
26:23And they're going away from us for utter destruction, but they are in peace.
26:34Okay.
26:43And though in the sight of men they suffered torments, their hope is full of immortality.
26:50Afflicted in few things, in many they shall be well rewarded, because God hath tried them, and found them worthy of himself.
27:07Thank you very much, Mary Ellen.
27:35I was working with Grok yesterday on a speech, and I couldn't get it there.
27:47I couldn't put down into words what I wanted to say today in a written form.
27:52And I thought, I better just speak from the heart, and tell you all how much he means to me, and riff this, because I think that's going to be a more heartfelt way of expressing how I feel today, and have felt for a long time, and will feel forever.
28:13A lot of you guys know, a lot of people from Grand Terrace know, that I've been spending more and more time with G and you guys, beyond just our filming of the show.
28:29And one of the great bonding moments that we've had in the past few weeks has been arts, art night, I guess, arts and crafts night.
28:40And G and I would talk and draw and draw and talk all night long, which I had no idea.
28:51I knew I was creative, but I didn't know I was creative in that way that you express yourselves through that visual arts.
28:58And I had no idea that G held in him that creativity.
29:03And I wanted to just say a few things about what we were working on literally two days before he died from the way he died.
29:16We don't have to get into the details, but we had started talking about these characters,
29:23and we were imagining a whole world of characters that would be for children, and children of all ages, but specifically children.
29:32And we were talking about doodling, and the idea of doodling, and how good doodling is for your soul.
29:39Chicken soup for the soul, but as doodling, drawing.
29:43And we were playing around. I'll just show you guys a couple of characters.
29:49This is Sam. Basically, G drew this.
29:54And then he drew a version of Sam, and then I drew a version of Sam.
29:59It's kind of a combo. But this is Sam, and when I see this now, I see G.
30:07And maybe we'll call him G or Gabriel.
30:11Gabriel. And then I drew Cloud, and Cloud would be, in the show, would be probably sort of more of a mystical character.
30:22I'm not sure. Some sort of a, like a hippie.
30:26And then we talked about there being kind of, in those worlds, those kind of shows, almost like in Star Trek,
30:33you have the sort of, Sam would be Kirk. And then somebody like Baxter, we have here, would be more like the voice of reason,
30:42like Dr. Spock, or Mr. Spock.
30:46Anyways, and then Mel, sort of comic relief. I'm not sure who, that almost looks like Mark.
30:52But I don't know who would do the voice. I don't know if this would even be, this could be a storybook, or I don't know what it'll be.
30:58Anyways, it's been so helpful to be able to think about these characters, because they are my link to Dad.
31:07They are, they're the thing that we love doing together, is coming up with stories for the Doodle Dots.
31:12We're calling them the Doodle Dots for now. That might change.
31:15But it is a, it is an interesting world, if you think about it.
31:19Or if, you know, we, something that we would develop together, but won't, because he's gone.
31:25But I want to carry that torch into the future.
31:28And I want to thank everybody for showing up and getting dressed. Everyone looks great.
31:33And thank you for arranging for transport for everybody.
31:37Let's see if there was anything else I want to touch on.
31:42I should have, definitely should have, made, now I'm thinking I should have made a note.
31:56Let me see if there is anything in Grok.
31:59Because I did, supposed to save your notes.
32:02Yeah, here we go.
32:03Friends and family, we are honored, we are, this is what I started.
32:06We are honored, we are here to honor a remarkable man, my father.
32:09He was a beacon of kindness.
32:11Always ready with a laugh or a helping hand.
32:14His love for us was unwavering.
32:16And though he's gone, his wisdom and warmth live on.
32:19And every story we share and every life he touched.
32:22Rest in peace, Dad.
32:23We'll carry you in our hearts forever.
32:25Alright.
32:27Man.
32:38I guess the only thing I want to add to that is, you know, I don't know where I go from here
32:44because, you know, G was the only man that ever really believed in me.
32:54And maybe the only man who ever, you know, really loved me.
32:59And I don't, you know, I don't know, I don't know what that says about me.
33:08But he's gone and he ain't coming back.
33:13Speaking of that, I got a new song I wrote for Dad.
33:21And I think we'll take a look at that now.
33:25Daddy's Gone.
33:27Daddy's Gone.
33:29Daddy's Gone.
33:31Up to heaven.
33:33I can see him waiting by.
33:45Flying past the snow white clouds.
33:49Past the snow.
33:50Up into the beautiful sky.
33:55Daddy's gone
34:02But you never
34:04Raised my heart
34:06To see him
34:08Go
34:09But he's up

36:19Why, why'd you have to die
36:28Why, why'd you have to die
36:36Why, why'd you have to die
36:43Why, why, why, why, why, why
36:47Thank you, everybody.
37:10That was, I wish I had, you know, we're still working on the mix
37:12But I could, Axe, I could hear a little harmony from you on there
37:19It would be awesome, so
37:20I guess there's an elephant in the room here
37:26As some of you guys may know
37:28Dad had a twin brother down in Argentina
37:34And he's here today
37:37I wasn't knowing you were able to make it
37:40But I would love if you wanted to say a few words about your brother
37:44This would be a great time, so
37:45Okay, you do?
37:48Okay
37:48Nice to meet you
37:52Today we remember my brother Gabriela Mato
38:06Hoy recordamos a mi hermano Gabriela Mato
38:42Que querÃa mudarse a Estados Unidos
38:45Le dijimos
38:47¿Estás loco?
38:50No
40:11Ver a nuestro hermano triunfar
40:14En el paÃs que él amaba tanto
40:18Pero hoy estoy triste
40:22Me arrepiento muchÃsimo
40:24Ojalá nunca hubiera venido
40:28Ojalá le hubiera dicho a mi hermano
40:31Que volviera a casa y estuviera con su familia
40:34Ahora nos enteramos del que el final de su vida
40:39Estuvo marcado por malas inversiones
40:42Y personas sospechosas
40:46Pero Gabriel era tan terco
40:50Hoy recordamos los buenos momentos
40:55Y decimos
40:56Gabriel
40:58Es hora de volver a casa
41:01Nos encargaremos
41:04De que la morgue
41:06EnvÃe su cuerpo de vuelta
41:07A la parcela familiar
41:10De nuestra ciudad natal de Buenos Aires
41:12Y finalmente
41:15Investigaremos
41:18Cómo murió mi hermano
41:21Cómo tuvo acceso a ese veneno
41:26También auditaremos
41:28Con lupa
41:29Sus finanzas aquà en Estados Unidos
41:32Con la intención especÃfica
41:35De descubrir
41:37Cualquier fraude
41:38Contra
41:39Que fue
41:40Cualquier fraude cometido
41:44Contra mi hermano
41:46O la familia Mato
41:47Tienen mi palabra
41:51No dejaremos
41:53Piedra
41:54Sin remover
42:21Google Translate
42:39For that
42:39Beautiful speech nonetheless
42:43Anyone else
42:46Very quickly
42:47I actually want to say something too
42:50I just want to say
42:52I think it's sad
42:53I think it's sad
42:56That a man who spent
42:5840 years of his life
42:59Here in the San Bernardino Valley
43:01A man who was
43:03A respected member
43:04Of this community
43:05A man who had many
43:06Good friends
43:07Ended up here
43:12I'm sorry
43:15I don't
43:16It's just
43:17You know
43:17If it was up to me
43:18There would be
43:18300 people here
43:20It's a good turn
43:21These are the people
43:22That cared about
43:23You know
43:23You didn't listen to me
43:24You pushed people away
43:27And you didn't listen
43:27Alright
43:29Well thank you very much

45:16Another turning point
45:32A fork stuck in the road
45:36Time grabs you by the wrist
45:50Directs you where you go
45:53So make the best of this test
45:56And don't ask why
45:59It's not a question
46:02But less in landing time
46:05Something unpredictable
46:08In the end it's right
46:11I hope you had the time of your life
46:15I hope you had the time of your life
46:16So take the photograph and still frames in your mind
46:23Hang on a shelf in good health and good time
46:28Tattoos
46:30Tattoos and memories and dead skin on the track
46:34For what it's worth
46:38It was worth all the while
46:40For something, something, something unpredictable
46:47And in the end it's, but in the end it's right
46:53I hope you had the time of your life
46:58Alright, thank you everybody.
