00:06There's a secret war going on in the outback town of Claremont.
00:14The gold here is so good and the value of gold now is so high.
00:19Dog eat dog. The wars are on.
00:22We've had nothing but issue after issue.
00:25I need to step up a bit. You are the mine manager.
00:27You've got to make the money.
00:28How good's that?
00:30Three mining teams.
00:32We have to throw money into the mine, so we have to make it work.
00:36Fighting it out on the one patch of land.
00:40This is just some of the stuff Donny's been walking over.
00:43Guy's full of .
00:44I'd be lucky if I don't walk over his big nose.
00:47This time.
00:49My main concern is Dan at the moment.
00:51Richie's mega investment call to salvage 1870's season.
00:56All I see is red flags there already from what's happened in the past.
01:00But Kimberly's just not buying it.
01:02So multiple times now I've had to watch over the years that Richard's given away businesses
01:06or given partnerships away to try and help other people succeed.
01:09And it has always failed.
01:12Whoa.
01:14Because it's just so hard.
01:17Matt and Damo cut a deal with Dennis.
01:20Good stuff.
01:20To solve their hard rock mining headache.
01:23It doesn't take long for the days to add up without gold to start putting pressure on.
01:27We really need this to fire up because the end of the season is coming in real fast now.
01:35Yeah correct.
01:36Never once in my whole life did I ever say to you that you could have my logo.
01:41And Donny and Lee go at each other's throats again.
01:45The sooner this gets put to bed the better.
01:47We can all get back to doing what we spoke of doing which is bloody mining for gold.
01:51In an epic showdown.
01:53I don't want to battle I'm over.
01:54Battle.
01:54You're a nothing but thief.
02:19Yeah right I'm gonna pull up for a minute mate.
02:22I'll tuck some of these stickers on this machine.
02:25Swiss diggings early morning.
02:30Yeah we can line it up.
02:31I'll line it up directly in the middle.
02:34And Donny's not a happy camper.
02:37Yeah go further to your right.
02:38To your right.
02:39To your right.
02:40The other.
02:41Right.
02:43He's just discovered that Lee, his old business partner and now sworn enemy is using his business
02:50logo, a picture of a man and a donkey, to promote his new tourism prospecting business.
02:57When we're going through these maps, so this map here will show you where our lease is.
03:03I allowed Lee to use it for one purpose and one purpose only and he just ran with it and
03:08he decided to keep it.
03:09And next thing you know he's got it on all his merch and everything.
03:13And that wasn't the deal.
03:15It's been my logo well before I even knew who Lee was.
03:19The logo is on Donny's shirt and he's also on Lee's shirt.
03:24And that's the problem.
03:26Donny's furious because Lee's claiming he now owns the logo.
03:31The battle of the logo.
03:33Who'd have thought that a donkey and a prospector could cause so much trauma and torment?
03:39I don't get it.
03:45The logo dispute is an unwanted distraction from Donny's main mission for the season.
03:51He still needs to find one and a half ounces of gold to pay Dennis the 50% down payment
03:58on the 1880 mining lease he so desperately wants.
04:03But he just can't seem to shake his irritation about the logo.
04:08I trademarked the logo and I went to a trademark attorney and I had a cease and desist delivered on
04:15Lee to stop using my logo.
04:19At least Donny and Ronnie are back on talking terms after last week's blow up.
04:26What did I say? Don't get me checked until I turn it off.
04:30Look you f*** back.
04:32Take your f***y checker, get the f*** out of the pit and f*** off.
04:42They're all friends again.
04:44And Ronnie's even offering Donny advice on how to deal with his logo dispute with Lee.
04:50I think it's one of these things Donny that you've now done what you need to do.
04:59And I think probably if he goes through with what you require to be done, you'll be able to move
05:08on.
05:08Oh, absolutely. Yeah, I agree.
05:10I mean, as long as he doesn't cause a fuss.
05:14You know, just for once in his f***ing life, if you can just do the right thing by someone and
05:20admit that he's done the wrong thing.
05:21What worries me is he won't.
05:23Well, if he doesn't, I'll take him to court.
05:25Yeah.
05:26And that's simple as that.
05:28The Claremont Wars continue.
05:33So these are your rock teeth.
05:34Yep, yep.
05:35But not for everyone.
05:39You've got your three pens. Yep.
05:41And your three collars.
05:42Okay, cool.
05:44So I know there's a lot of warring going on in the background, but there is some of us that
05:47get along and stay off each other's toes.
05:51Despite running rival operations, Dennis and Matt are nutting out a mates rates deal over some mining equipment.
05:59One extra pin and lock?
06:00Yeah, if we can, just in case something happens and I have to bang another one in and we...
06:03Sure.
06:04Matt needs new blades for one of his excavators and Dennis has equipment to sell.
06:09So, Matty and Damo, I know from they were contractors at 1870.
06:14At the end of the day, they're good blokes.
06:16We've got the cutting edge here, which is like 2130.
06:18I know yours is two metres.
06:20Yeah, that's okay.
06:21Seems everyone in Claremont has a side hustle.
06:27Dennis leases and sells imported mining equipment.
06:31Lee's got his tourism business.
06:34And Kimberley's...
06:35They'll definitely need a lot to...
06:36Pick all the boys out of here, huh?
06:38...a professional shopper.
06:40Use one of these and see what it's like.
06:41Gonna give one of them a go?
06:41Yeah, yeah, definitely.
06:43Matt and Damo need the new blades for their recently acquired lemon excavator.
06:49The hard rock at Scratchy Moo has taken its toll on the lemon.
06:54Yeah, double wear on it.
06:55Double wear.
06:56Yep, yep.
06:59It's the shards of metal coming off the lemon's blade that's creating headaches for Damo.
07:05Oh, listen to it.
07:07Oh.
07:10Tough stuff.
07:12The swarf is triggering false positives.
07:15And that is wasting everyone's time.
07:19Yeah, swarf is the bane of my existence.
07:22It's just the pain.
07:25Swarf is the little metal bits that come off the bucket when you're digging the ground.
07:29And it's particularly bad when you're digging really hard ground.
07:32And being that we're digging through a gravel, swarf is just horrendous.
07:38So, all up that'll be 718.
07:40Yeah, cool.
07:41All right.
07:41So, we can do it.
07:42I'm happy enough to do it on gold.
07:43No worries.
07:44Cool.
07:44All right.
07:45Good stuff.
07:45It's easy doing business with business people.
07:50Yeah.
07:52The $15 is a handy boost to Dennis' $400,000 season tally.
07:58Especially with the prospect of Donnie's donkey logo drama set to fire up the mine site at any moment in
08:06all the wrong ways.
08:08Look, at the end of the day, it's an unwelcome distraction, this whole logo.
08:12The sooner this gets put to bed, the better.
08:13We can all get back to doing what we're supposed to be doing, which is bloody mining for gold.
08:211870's stop-start season has stopped again.
08:25So, we're plumbing it up, and there's just a few issues.
08:30Basically, the water's getting too dirty too fast.
08:33The gold shaker table uses recycled water.
08:37Trouble is, the water has turned into brown mud, and that makes it impossible to spot the gold.
08:44It's literally like mud.
08:49So, when that's going over the table, well, the finer gold can stick to it and just track straight off
08:56the end of the table.
08:58It's just too clay.
09:00There's no, basically, we can't put clay brokers in it to help settle it.
09:04So, we just can't physically see it.
09:11To hit their 100-ounce season target, Team 1870 needs to come up with 45 ounces of gold in two
09:19weeks.
09:22You know, we've got the wash plant doing its part.
09:25Now, we need this.
09:26Otherwise, without this, it's...
09:28Might as well sit there for pen.
09:33Richie's on his way back from the outback town of Emerald.
09:36He was there chasing plumbing supplies to fix the dirty water issue.
09:41He feels over-committed and overworked.
09:44So, when I brought the mine, the whole idea was I was a hands-off owner.
09:48I got a mine boss in there.
09:50He knows what he's doing.
09:52Basically reports to me each week.
09:54Now, all of a sudden, no.
09:56It's now me and Kimberly up here bloody pretty much calling the shots to make sure things are getting done.
10:04Richie's worried Dan's lost his mining mojo, that he's become worn down by the repeated machinery malfunctions.
10:12And that's bad news for Richie and Kimberly's $1.2 million investment.
10:18I feel like, at the moment, Dan's sort of treading water.
10:21I think I need to push him a little bit harder, but maybe incentivise him a little bit more to
10:28make sure we do reach the goals.
10:31And, look, I need my investment back.
10:33You know, like, you don't just get into investments to lose money.
10:37But I need to make sure this thing bloody works.
10:42I don't even know what's going through his head at the moment.
10:45I've got no idea.
10:46I don't know what he's got planned.
10:49But whatever he's got planned, it has to work.
10:57Scratchy Moo.
10:58About that height or...?
11:00Well, we're going to have to put it on the ground to put the bolts in.
11:02It's too heavy.
11:03And Matt is back with the new excavator blades.
11:07Are you going to try to undo those bolts where they are first?
11:10Yeah, I'm going to see if I can save a couple.
11:17Alright.
11:18Yeah, so it's pretty good that Daniserie's import business has sorted some different things
11:24that are suitable for use for the machines.
11:26And those blades are quite good.
11:30Matt and Damo are hoping the new scraper blade will cut through the rocky ground
11:35without leaving metal shavings behind.
11:39We need a really good edge on this to be able to work this ground
11:42because it's just so hard.
11:44It's only going to take five minutes.
11:46Look, the corners are almost touching now.
11:50That's how hard it is there.
11:52Matt and Damo need to find a minimum of an ounce of gold a day
11:56to reach their season target.
11:58And they're still running with just one excavator.
12:06There you are there.
12:07That's how you do it.
12:09That cut it fine.
12:10Lost a bit of weight in swarf.
12:12Imagine how many bits of swarf that's created.
12:15It's the bane of our life.
12:22Don't do that to us.
12:23I thought we were going to have another lemon excavator scenario.
12:29They're a vizaloy blade, which some of the benefit around that
12:33is that it just doesn't drop as much swarf on that really scratchy ground,
12:38that really rough ground that's hitting a lot of rock.
12:40It's going to limit the amount of swarf,
12:43which will mean that more of the targets that I'm hearing
12:46are going to be gold targets.
12:49Will every one of those holes in the blade line up there or is it...?
12:53Yeah.
12:53OK.
12:55All right, am I better off down helping you or up here?
12:57Stay up there.
13:03They need to get the new scraper blade fitted ASAP
13:07so Damo can get back on the gold.
13:10Yeah, well, there's been so many distractions recently
13:13and it doesn't take long for days to add up without gold
13:17to start putting pressure on, so this is important.
13:20We've got stuff fixed on this machine now, so I need to get back into it.
13:24And I'll probably need to chase a little bit of shallow ground
13:26to put some gold in the pocket, actually.
13:331870.
13:34And Richie's back from his shopping trip.
13:37Mate, they've got nothing in town, hey? Nothing.
13:42I'll show you why we need to get up and running.
13:45All right.
13:45We've got all the water pods for you.
13:48Yep.
13:49So I'm just doing random pans out of each bucket.
13:54That's why we've got to go up and running fast.
13:57Which, where's that from?
13:58Just a scoop out of each pan.
14:01There's gold in all of them.
14:03All right, we'll get it here. I'll see the gear then.
14:07Richie did manage to pick up a pool filtration system
14:10that he hopes will help fix the shaker table's dirty water issues.
14:15We're so far behind schedule, it's so funny.
14:18Hey, Dan.
14:19Yeah, mate.
14:19We're going to have to work through the night tonight.
14:21We'll get the light towers going.
14:23We'll just run at night.
14:24We've lost the whole day.
14:26To solve the water issue, I put in more settling tanks
14:30and I put in, literally, a pool pump with a massive big filter.
14:35So I believe that will actually work.
14:38But he won't know if it works until the system is hooked up and running.
14:43Yeah, so the gut-wrenching thing about this is,
14:45while we're doing all this, the washer plant's not working.
14:47And if the washer plant's not working,
14:48we're not getting any pay dirt to run through.
14:50But we've got to get this up and going
14:53to obviously get the table going
14:55so we can start producing the gold.
14:57I hope Richie's idea pays off
14:59because I'm tapped out. I don't know.
15:05Copy, Dennis. Copy, Dennis.
15:08Yep, copy. This is Dennis.
15:11Dennis, it's Lee. How you going?
15:13I'm just popping over to see Donnie if I can.
15:15Maybe short.
15:16To see what's going on.
15:17A little letter from him.
15:18So I just want to try and sort it out.
15:19Yeah, righto. No dramas.
15:22I'll come up and let you in, eh?
15:26Donnie's solicitor has served Lee with a cease and desist letter.
15:30Lee has 15 days to stop using Donnie's trademark logo or he'll sue.
15:37The letter also says Lee needs to pay Donnie $1,500 in legal costs.
15:44So the logo design, according to trademark, is donkey with a pick on its back, cactuses, oval shape, old man
15:55leading the donkey with a gun in his hand and a beard.
15:58And that's the logo that's depicted and that's the logo that Lee decided his logo was no good and mine
16:05was better so he'd just start using mine.
16:08I don't know why you don't just ring up, say I want to use the logo, what can we do,
16:12blah blah blah, and actually talk it out civilly.
16:15So it's easy to go and talk to someone and sort it out rather than go through the legal channels
16:20saying it's got a load of money.
16:22How are you, mate?
16:23How are you, mate?
16:23Yeah, good, yourself?
16:24Yeah, not too bad.
16:25Long time no see.
16:26It's been a while.
16:27It's been a while.
16:28As it has.
16:29So, what do you want to come over here for, mate?
16:32Well, I have a letter.
16:34I have a letter from Mr Pascoe about the logo.
16:37Logo gate.
16:39So, we need to sort out what's going on with this logo.
16:42Alright.
16:42You can do me a favour and just keep it civil and hopefully he'll keep it civil as well and
16:49we'll move on.
16:50There's no reason why I can't be civil.
16:53That might be easier said than done.
16:56Last time Donnie and Lee ran into each other, their comms were anything but civil.
17:01You're full of me.
17:03You've ripped me off since day dot.
17:04It's meant to be a partnership.
17:06That's why they call you Leach McGrath.
17:09What?
17:10So why did I pay the extra pay?
17:12Because you never paid me, that's why.
17:14This time, Dennis will tag along and play peacemaker.
17:20Hey, listen mate, I've just got Lee in the car here.
17:24We're coming down.
17:25He wants to have a quick chat to you about logo gate, bud.
17:29I'll hear what he's got to say.
17:31I'll hear what he's got to say.
17:46Hear what he's got to say.
17:49But, um, yeah, I don't know why he bothered coming over.
17:53I mean, the paper that he's got is pretty self explanatory on how to deal with it.
17:58Talk to my attorney.
17:59That's why I paid him.
18:02I've obviously got a letter about the logo.
18:05So I'm just trying to work out what the go is with the logo.
18:08The go is, it's my logo, mate.
18:10My thoughts on all this is, I purchased the business and the logo came with the business.
18:15Never once in my whole life did I ever say to you that you could have my f***ing logo.
18:20So get my f***ing logo off your f***ing shirt.
18:25Any hopes of a civil resolution seem to be fading fast.
18:30I trademarked it.
18:31I own it.
18:32Get it off your f***ing gear.
18:34So what do you want?
18:35You've got the letter from the f***ing attorneys.
18:37You've got the letter.
18:39You do what you want to do.
18:42So do you want to drag this into court?
18:44I don't give a f***, mate.
18:45Lawyer up, Leach.
18:46We'll see who f***ing wins this battle.
18:48I don't want to battle.
18:49I'm over f***ing battles.
18:50Lee was trying to avoid an expensive legal battle.
18:54But Donny's like a bull at a gate.
18:56He can't see anything but red.
18:59Good.
19:00Get it off your f***.
19:00Get it off your website.
19:02Get it off your shirt.
19:03Get it off everything.
19:05You're nothing but a f***ing thief.
19:07Donny, Donny, Donny.
19:09Just be cool.
19:10At the end of the day, it's just another distraction that I don't need.
19:14It's the easiest way to sort it out is to go and see someone face to face.
19:18And I thought it could be a civil conversation.
19:21But obviously that's not who he is, so he's gone legal.
19:24So now I just need to make a decision what I do.
19:28Look, you know, any hope that I had that these two boys were actually going to handshake
19:32and settle their differences there and then and walk away and go the separate ways and be happy,
19:39that was completely out of the window.
19:40That just didn't happen.
19:47The Scratchy Moo Moo.
19:50Whoa.
19:52Good to be back at it.
19:54Fresh blade.
19:56And the Lemon Excavator is back up and running with a set of new blades.
20:05Feels, um...
20:06Yeah.
20:08Feels good.
20:10Season is getting close.
20:12It's getting hotter.
20:13Storms are starting and we need to get to target.
20:17It's within reach.
20:18I'm still pretty confident, but we need a good run.
20:21If there's gold there, it's not going to take too long to get to it.
20:26The ground Damo's mining is full of hard rock.
20:30That's what's causing the metal shards to shred off the excavator's blade.
20:34Yeah, it's really good to have a fresh blade on.
20:37Just a nice, sharp edge.
20:38It is a pleasurable day.
20:40Although, dropping it straight onto this rock blade is probably not going to look past quite as long.
20:46Damo's already wasted far too much time chasing false targets.
20:51A better blade should mean cleaner digging.
20:59That means more time chasing good gold.
21:02I'm actually looking a little bit forward to what's lying in front of me now, and I've got a little
21:08bit of optimism back about where we might be in the next few days in finding some good gold there
21:14again.
21:14Matt and Damo have been the gold field's leaders from day one.
21:19They're desperate to reach their 100-ounce target before the season ends.
21:25Oh, it's so hard, this ground.
21:27So, yeah, you can see the old spoil.
21:31So, they've chomped down.
21:33They've come into this line here.
21:35It's all black.
21:36It's all filled with old bits of timber.
21:38And they haven't gone deeper onto this gravel.
21:42So, on this side, I found the slate here.
21:45So, usually where you're going to start hearing sounds is just where the gravel drops away onto that slate.
21:54Come on.
21:55Where are you?
21:58Give us a big banana.
22:04Is the banana patch going to live up to its name?
22:07Maybe.
22:08Maybe.
22:09But you really can't assume that anything is swarf or is not gold.
22:16Like, you have to assume most of the time that, you know, any target could be gold and you could
22:20make a mistake.
22:22Excited about that one.
22:25Doesn't have the right.
22:26I'm just going to put those on.
22:33I'd say, I'd still say swarf.
22:36It's swarf from the old excavator blade.
22:41Out of here.
22:42Show me the gold.
22:59Team 1870 have clocked on for the night shift.
23:03Now you can see the overflow is working.
23:05We'll definitely have to put a clamp on there.
23:09Even if we got a bigger one of those.
23:13Richie and Dan have installed a series of water pods and pumps to the shaker table to try and clean
23:19the dirty water.
23:22So I reckon we're in about 10 minutes away from getting this running.
23:26Obviously slight water issue.
23:27But I'm just cleaning out the concentrate.
23:31And we're going to rerun it to see how much gold we missed the first time when we're experimenting with
23:36a table.
23:37So we know there's still gold in this.
23:41Dan has lost a full day of processing.
23:44And there's no guarantee that Richie's idea will fix their dirty water problems.
23:49For this shaker table to work properly we need the right water flow.
23:54Whatever goes out needs to come back in.
23:57And it needs to recirculate.
23:58And it needs to be cleared.
24:02Yeah man, go for it.
24:07Clean, translucent water is what they need.
24:11I reckon yours might be a bit too high, mate.
24:18Oh, it's gold there.
24:19Gotta get the vacuum.
24:22It's good news.
24:24The gold is visible and there's a lot of it.
24:28Richie's new filtration system is a winner.
24:31Water clarity is a lot.
24:33There's a big improvement.
24:34Like you can see, we can actually see the end of the table.
24:38The last time we ran we could not see it in the table after about 10 minutes.
24:43Like now I can actually see the gold.
24:45We knew we were losing gold last time we were doing it because obviously the water was filthy.
24:51So, and it's still not the best but it's trial and error.
24:58But now it's just a matter of catching all the little bits of gold as they're coming through.
25:05Richie wants to work through the night to make up for lost time.
25:09Mate, tonight we've got a load of buckets to concentrate to go through.
25:15We still haven't done a proper clean up at the wash plant yet.
25:19So it's going to be, we want to get it right on this first.
25:22So then do a clean up.
25:23So we know we're not missing anything.
25:27With the two operations we've got, the drywall and the wet plant,
25:29we should be pulling in over three ounces a day.
25:31So, if this works, we're laughing.
25:38All right girls, good luck.
25:40Make experience.
25:41Cheers.
25:42Come look at that nugget.
25:43Where's the nugget coming down?
25:44Ah, Kimberly.
25:46Got it.
25:47They're not sucking up.
25:48They're so big.
25:49Wait a minute.
25:50Ugh.
25:52Kimberley and Kira have lucked out and got the graveyard shift.
25:57Oh, oh, oh.
25:59Too big.
26:00Too big.
26:02That's what she said.
26:04Oh, oh.
26:05While the boys are getting some much needed shut eye,
26:08the girls are putting their vacuuming skills to the test.
26:12I think this is more my calling.
26:14It's just a bit more elastic, chilly, you know,
26:17just getting all the gold while having a bourbon.
26:20So, it's a win-win.
26:24Come on, Kira, you can suck better than that.
26:26I'm trying.
26:28Pedal, pedal.
26:30Kimber is swapping.
26:32Do we have to?
26:32Yep.
26:34There goes my drinking.
26:38There's some nice gold coming through tonight.
26:41Got a whole patch coming down now.
26:43Nice little amount.
26:46Try and catch it all at once.
26:48Ah, there's some little really fine bits too.
26:50Oh.
26:50Oh, my gosh.
26:52Oh.
26:52Hang on.
26:53This thing's not sucking up as fast as I need it to.
26:57There are, there's heaps of gold coming through.
26:59Oh, awesome.
26:59I can't actually suck it up all at once.
27:02This place is littered with gold,
27:04so we're finding all the fine gold that they said wasn't here,
27:07all the stuff that Donny left behind.
27:09And since we've turned on the watch plan,
27:10we're starting to really smash it.
27:11We're seeing the gold come through,
27:13which is really exciting.
27:15Hopefully, we get lots tonight.
27:16We've got quite a few buckets to get through.
27:18So we're going to be going all night, I think.
27:34The banana patch scratchy move.
27:37And Damo's still battling false positives.
27:41We really need this to fire up,
27:43because the end of the season is...
27:48It's coming in real fast now.
27:52Damo's removed a new layer of topsoil
27:55and is now starting to push into virgin ground.
28:00You can see that line there.
28:03It's basically where that heavy gravel's sliding away,
28:08and this is the area where it joins the slate.
28:09And so this is the layer that I want to listen to.
28:11I've just taken that extra scrape off.
28:15There you go.
28:16There you go.
28:16That's in the right spot.
28:19That's gold.
28:21For sure.
28:24It's music to Damo's ears.
28:27Beautiful.
28:29Beautiful!
28:33It was pretty obvious suddenly when these different types of sounds started coming out,
28:39and we started hearing proper gold sound, and they sound totally different.
28:43What have we got?
28:45And you know straight away I'm onto the gold.
28:47They often sound just rounder, deeper.
28:49Sounds good.
28:51There she is.
28:52Doesn't even look like gold.
28:53That's how it comes out here.
28:55And it's a banana nugget in the banana patch.
28:57That's perfect.
28:59Yep.
29:02So, that's what it looks like.
29:04It comes out.
29:04It's all got that gravel on it.
29:06The two-grammer adds $400 to Scratchy Moo's tally.
29:15Whoo!
29:16Whoo-hoo!
29:18We have sounds.
29:19Makes for a happy Scratchy.
29:28Oh, yeah.
29:29There it is right there.
29:31Now, that's it.
29:33That's a little bit of gold there.
29:35It doesn't look like much, but that's actually gold.
29:40If you start to get onto a patch or an area that might be a pocket,
29:45they're the things that really start, you know, I really like those times
29:50because I just get this tensions building up, building up,
29:54and then suddenly it's like, ah, and the gold starts to flow,
29:57and the bottle starts to shake, and, you know,
30:01there's just a sense of relief that comes with it.
30:03Yeah, they add up quick, I tell you.
30:05As long as you can put them in at a weight like that,
30:08you're not doing 30, 40, 50 of them in a couple of hours,
30:12you start to get towards your tally.
30:14So, this is good.
30:15This is good.
30:16Happy Scratchy.
30:20I think there's two targets.
30:24That sounds okay.
30:25Give me the hat trick.
30:28I'll have a bit of gold, um, stuck to it somewhere.
30:33Um, oh, yeah, there it is there.
30:36See it?
30:37Just a little bit.
30:39I'll see if I can get that off there.
30:42The banana patch is producing again.
30:45Back-to-back nuggets is exactly what Damo needs
30:48to get Scratchy Moo's season back on track.
30:53Happy, happy days.
30:57At Swiss Diggings, the new day brings renewed optimism.
31:03Can you just run over that, run in that hole there, mate,
31:07and, um, over that root bowl and that for me, please?
31:10Yep.
31:15But Donnie's still a little distracted.
31:19Worrying about stuff I shouldn't have to be worrying about.
31:23I just want to dig.
31:26Donnie needs to regain focus and find the gold he needs to secure his future
31:31and the 1880 lease.
31:35I'm still another ounce and a half away from where I need to be,
31:40so, you know, I don't need this.
31:45Yeah, just in the hole where I pushed it arse overhead
31:48and all over the root bowl and that, mate.
31:57Oh, listen to that. Come on!
32:02This strong-sounding target could be just the nugget Donnie needs
32:06to seal the new lease deal.
32:09Copy, Dennis.
32:10Mate, we've just bowled an ironbuck over here
32:13and we've got to crack a target in the, uh,
32:16one of the big clods that come off the root bowl.
32:19Yeah, right.
32:20All right, give me five.
32:23A one-and-a-half-ounce nugget is all Donnie needs
32:26to seal his 1880 deal with Dennis.
32:29To fix the debt up to get this lease pegged,
32:34that's first and foremost on my agenda at the moment.
32:41What'd that come out of the bloody...?
32:42Yeah, it come off the bowl.
32:45Off the bowl, mate, off the root bowl.
32:48He's working on the edges of ground which I've already been and worked
32:52and, um, yeah, when he got...
32:55Then I got down there and he, uh, let that target go on the machine.
33:00It was just like, wow.
33:04Oh, it's not...
33:07It's actually on the ground.
33:08Underneath the quad.
33:10It may be, it may not be.
33:19Ah, it's a...
33:20It's one of my bolts.
33:34Donnie's miracle nugget is nothing more than an old bolt
33:37off Dennis's excavator.
33:40Donnie's off his A-game.
33:42Bolt.
33:44I think he might have been a little bit distracted,
33:47um, about, uh, that little meeting with, uh, with, uh, Lee.
33:52I'm calling Dennis down for false targets.
33:55Bolt in the ground.
33:56I thought it'd come out of the tree we knocked over.
33:59I could have sworn we had gold then.
34:05Bloody hot.
34:06Just a tad.
34:07Just a tad.
34:09At 1870, Richie has called a private meeting with Kimberley
34:13to discuss how to deal with Dan's lacklustre performance.
34:18All right, so...
34:20I've obviously got my concerns about reaching targets
34:23and all that type of stuff,
34:25but my main concerns is Dan at the moment.
34:28Any time I've had any business decisions to make,
34:31I always run up past Kimberley,
34:33she's a great sounding board and, you know,
34:35she, she understands everything.
34:37I've noticed that he's a bit demotivated,
34:41like, an example is the shaker table.
34:43Yeah.
34:44Like, he almost gave up on it, you know,
34:46but if he hadn't invested interest in it,
34:49he may have just put that little bit extra into it.
34:52So what I was thinking,
34:54I might offer him some equity in the mines,
34:57give him some shares.
34:58Okay.
35:00Right?
35:00We'll still be the controlling party of the mine.
35:03What kind of percentage are you talking about?
35:05I don't know yet.
35:06This is where I'm sort of stuffed.
35:07I don't want to offer too little.
35:10At the start,
35:11he could take that as a bit of a slap in the face,
35:13but I don't want to offer too much as well.
35:15Now, what are your thoughts?
35:19Um...
35:20All I see is red flags there already
35:23from what's happened in the past.
35:25You know, every time they've tried to help out a draft member,
35:28trying to give them, you know,
35:29a little leeway in life and business,
35:32it's always blackfired.
35:33Every time.
35:34So multiple times now I've had to watch over the years
35:37that Richard's given away businesses
35:38or given partnerships away
35:40to try and help other people succeed,
35:42and it has always failed.
35:44But then again,
35:46those past employees are not like Dan,
35:49like Dan's a different personality altogether.
35:52He doesn't have an ego like they do.
35:53He doesn't think the world owes him a favour.
35:57Um...
35:57That's a hard one.
35:58Oh, you've made it harder.
36:00I was pretty confident with the direction I was heading,
36:03but she obviously reminded me of some past experiences
36:05that which I hadn't considered before.
36:08Alright, thanks for the drink.
36:10I bet you you've got bloody tequila in yours.
36:11Not yet.
36:12Yeah.
36:13Alright.
36:14I've given them pros and the cons,
36:15but I know at the end of the day
36:17he'll make the right decision,
36:18I hope.
36:19Um...
36:20And, yeah.
36:21We'll see what happens.
36:27So we're going for a run out of here,
36:29because I want to show you this ground.
36:30Yeah.
36:32Go on, listen.
36:34You'll get stuck in a bit motivated, mate.
36:37Dennis, the peacemaker,
36:39has a plan to try and G Donnie up.
36:42He's decided to take him for a joyride
36:44to remind him of the prize on offer
36:47if he hits his end-of-season target.
36:51They're heading to the 1880 lease,
36:53which Dennis has offered to sell to Donnie,
36:56if Donnie can come up with the money in time.
36:59He's got a lot to give,
37:01and, you know,
37:01this all that's going on at the moment
37:03with these different people,
37:05he just needs to get rid of that white noise.
37:10The thing I like about it is the changing country,
37:13like the fact that the other side
37:15over towards Brigolo is so much different to this side.
37:20Donnie needs to get his head back in the gold game
37:23and stop worrying about Lee logos and legal threats.
37:29This is 1880.
37:3180 hectares of untouched virgin gold ground.
37:35The stuff mining dreams are made of.
37:38What do you think, mate?
37:39It's looking good, eh?
37:40I like it.
37:42You like it?
37:42I like it.
37:44Like, to have my own lease has been the end game
37:48since I started out here.
37:50At the end of the day, this could be yours inside 12 months
37:52if we play our cards right,
37:53but I need you to sort of really get focused, mate.
37:56You reckon you can get over it a little bit?
37:59What's going on with these couple of boys?
38:03We're nearly there, mate.
38:05We're so close to the finishing line here,
38:07we're getting the targets.
38:09Well, I've got to get over it,
38:10otherwise it's just going to eat me, mate.
38:12I can't concentrate on what I'm doing.
38:15The distractions at the moment are just, you know,
38:18they're not good in any way, shape or form.
38:20I'm battling at the moment,
38:22just trying to keep him motivated and so forth.
38:23When Donnie's in full swing, he's a gun miner.
38:27You've just got to get over that, mate.
38:29You've got to get over it.
38:31You want to move on?
38:33Yeah, I think he could tell that I was stressed.
38:37The whole thing's just starting to get me right down
38:41and that was good.
38:46Once I got there, it was instant fall in love.
38:49Love this country.
38:52Yeah, nice block of dirt.
38:56Like, I swear to God, if I never run into Lee again,
38:58I'd be a very happy man.
39:01Yeah, but you've dealt with that now.
39:03It's dealt with.
39:04You know what I mean?
39:04Like, you let the courts deal with the rest of it
39:06if he breaks things,
39:07but other than that, you've dealt with it.
39:09So, you've just got to focus your energies on to,
39:13you know, finishing off this season.
39:17Dennis's pep talk will hopefully sink in.
39:21Donnie needs to make hay while the sun is still shining.
39:24For me, it's more to be able to, um,
39:28have something to leave behind for my kids.
39:31That's my biggest reasoning behind it
39:34is so that my children benefit from it after I'm gone.
39:44Yeah, righty-o, well, Lee's supposed to be here,
39:46but he's gone off to do something with his bloody logo.
39:49Okay.
39:50Donnie's giving him a hard time about it, is he?
39:53He's gone AWOL.
39:54Never ending with that fella.
39:56At Scratchy Moo, it's weigh-in time.
40:00That's like a day and a half out of the banana patch.
40:03Guess?
40:03The big banana's in there.
40:05Nice pieces.
40:06Good chunks in there.
40:06So, this is going to set us up.
40:08If we, well, if we can get over 100,
40:10it's going to be a pretty good week,
40:11and I think that's over 100.
40:18114.6.
40:19Woo-hoo!
40:21That's good going.
40:22That's our eight ounces for the week.
40:25Despite the hard rock machinery busts and fails,
40:28they've managed to tough out a good result.
40:31Team Scratchy Moo is just $32,500 short of their season target.
40:37The boys are coming home strong.
40:40We needed, we really needed that after shocking week last week.
40:44Pressure.
40:45We have had problems, and the problems are slowing us down.
40:49But I feel okay.
40:51I feel as though that if we can just get a bit of a run,
40:54I think we could go all right and get our 17 hit target.
41:07All right, guys.
41:08Our next proper clan out.
41:12At 1870, Richie's hoping their gold weigh-in might just put a spring back in Dan's step.
41:18They have just one week's mining left to go.
41:23So, we've got Dan's wash plant, and Kira's dry blower.
41:28A little bit of a difference.
41:30A little bit of a difference, yeah.
41:31It looks like you're still showing him how to mine.
41:32Yeah.
41:33All right, let's just start off with Dan's first.
41:35We'll get the low one over and done with.
41:36So, all right.
41:38So, pour that in.
41:413.6 ounces.
41:43Why don't, sir?
41:44Still better than last week, man.
41:46Jan 12.
41:46We're going in the right direction.
41:48All right.
41:48Move on to the big stuff.
41:50Move on to the impressive stuff.
41:52Yeah.
41:54All right.
41:54Here we go.
41:55Here's Kira's.
41:59Here we go.
42:00We're at two, three.
42:02Oh, past the 3.6.
42:03Oh.
42:05Five.
42:05Six point nine.
42:07There's nothing right there.
42:07That's awesome.
42:08Six point nine.
42:09Where's my bloody handshake?
42:11I'll end it.
42:12Chuck them.
42:13Look at my scarves.
42:15The grand total for the week, 10.5 ounces.
42:23Well, that's our best week.
42:2610.5 ounces.
42:28It's 1870's best weekly result for the season.
42:32100 ounces is looking pretty lean at the moment and it looks like we're going to lift our
42:37game a little bit if we're going to make a target.
42:40Richie's desperate for more gold and more motivation from his mine manager.
42:45It's been a grueling season for Dan.
42:48And it shows.
42:50I'm just so burnt out right now.
42:52You know, like, burning a candle at both ends.
42:56I don't know how much longer I can keep going.
42:59Next time, the three-way race to the season finish line intensifies.
43:05It's supposed to be on holidays.
43:07What the am I doing out here?
43:09Front runners Matt and Damo.
43:12Overheating again.
43:14Get plagued by 11th hour breakdowns.
43:17And I can't really risk running it unless it can drop out of this high temp.
43:24Donny and Ronnie unearth a monster nugget.
43:27Hopefully he's going to come through on his tallies.
43:29But will it be enough to rocket Swiss diggings into the winner's circle and get Donny that
43:35lease he so desperately desires?
43:37Dennis is not going to let me get away without that half ounce of gold.
43:42I know he won't.
43:43You are the mine manager.
43:44I need to step up a bit.
43:46And Richie makes a shock investment offer to Dan.
43:49I couldn't believe it.
43:51That is literally life changing.
43:54There you go.
43:55It'll all come down to the final waves.
43:59Just who will come out on top for the season?
44:02Come on!
