00:54a significant meaning behind different colors that he wears throughout the series. And pink

01:03is a new one, and it's pink with red, and we've got the pink flowers here. Um, we've seen some

01:09of those before, but like, I'm really curious about this one. Like, I'm curious what the vibe

01:15with the pink robe with the red collar and the red details is. I think part of it could be a thing

01:22where he's- could be leaning into more showing his softer side while at the same time starting to be

01:31more honest about all aspects of himself. So pink would be like the softer parts, but even pink- pink

01:39is made with white and red. And then there's the red collar, the red details. That could be like he's

01:45more openly- I mean, he wears- he's worn a lot of things with red. But when I think about it, at this

01:50point in the story, in combination with the pink, we also haven't seen him wear as much red stuff

48:46The Sword Immortal has pledged to fight the ghosts in the Ghost Valley.

48:54So even though before he was trying to do this favor for Wen Kexing, now that he hears that, he's not gonna do it.

49:04And he might also come to try to fight him.

49:10It's so funny that he's like really rude and doesn't have good manners.

49:44Well, we're...we're not reconi-we're not reckoning with that yet at the end of this episode.

49:50But we are at a point where I'm sure it's all gonna come up in the next episode.

49:56That's great. That's cool.

49:58Yeah.

49:59I'm saying this just to mention watching something in a similar genre in a similar vein and not to make, like, a direct comparison.

50:08But, like, I remember when I was watching The Untamed and every time that Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian had, like, any kind of touchy moment, it was always like, whoa.

50:22Like, wow. Like, some of the things in that show are like, whoa, they really did that.

50:26You know, how did they get, like, so-and-so past censorship?

50:30At this point in this show, it's like, the amount of things are so intensified.

50:37There's so much more that is shown or said in this show that I don't know if it could have been said in The Untamed.

50:44Because it's my understanding that, at the time, the level of censorship scrutiny also depended on, like, how big of a production?

50:54How many people do they think are gonna see it? What is the budget? Where is it being shown or streamed? And, like, how was it promoted or was it promoted initially?

51:06And I imagine because The Untamed was based on Mo Dao Zushi and Mo Dao Zushi already had, um, an animation.

51:15And I guess it already just, like, had more recognition and more viewers.

51:19So The Untamed already within its, like, genre of xianxia was, like, really low budget, you know, all things considered.

51:28And there might have been a similar feeling that it wasn't gonna get super big.

51:32But I think there was at least enough buzz around it or enough promotion around it that they probably had, you know, just a regular amount of, like, scrutiny as far as how strict the censoring was going to be.

51:46Versus this show, apparently, they really didn't do, like, any promotions.

51:50They just kind of suddenly dropped it on the world on, you know, whatever streaming site.

51:54I guess it was Youku.

51:55And it was even lower budget.

51:57And the- everyone thought that it was going to flop and not get big at all.

52:03And that's pretty much the opposite of what happened.

52:05But I think it's because of that, really, that, I don't know, they didn't have certain things as, like, stringent- stringently applied over the show.

52:16But it's- the experience of watching it is, like, when I started out watching it, I was like, wow, they really said that, wow, they really did that.

52:23But it's- there are certain scenes where I go back in my head later and I'm like, they really did that, they really showed that.

52:30But in the moment in the scene, I can't even- it doesn't even, like, register with me anymore.

52:37Because I can't even have a moment to be like, oh my god, because everything that's happening is, like, so emotionally devastating and I'm just, like, wrapped up in it.

52:48Like, I don't even have a moment to just be like, you know, and I said it about the scene where they're waking up from these dreams and I'm like, the- the little bed mat things are right next to each other.

53:04And as I've been watching different things that were, like, adapted from BL and made in China and have, like, censorship rules applied to them, it's usually, like, they might have a situation where two characters are like, uh-oh, we're somewhere and there's only one bed and they're, like, sort of, like, forced to sleep in the same bed.

53:25So it's not like they would never, ever show that, but it's like a, well, we only show that if it's, like, a forced scenario, you know, kind of thing.

53:34And they make it very, um, I mean, it still will definitely get something across, don't get me wrong, but I think they kind of would have to make it very, like, just, you know, mundane and not have anything that seems, like, remotely intimate at all in that scenario.

53:52And in this, obviously, well, one, they're just, like, these little mats on the floor.

53:57But two, obviously, no matter how much less scrutiny they seemingly were under, obviously they couldn't have actually shown them in the same bed, at least, like I said, without, like, an excuse.

54:09But they did the next closest thing, which is, like, they're just really right there.

54:15And it's not like, oh, it's a small room and everyone's packed together because Chung Ling is, like, over there, like, far away.

54:23And they really just did that and have them, like, comforting each other from their nightmares.

54:28But I couldn't, it's like, I can't even have the moment to just be like, ooh, whoa, you know, because the moments are just too, like, emotionally important to even pay attention to that.

54:41And I'm sure I'm gonna go back watching certain things later and just being like, huh?

54:46But right now it's like, I'm over here crying.

54:49And I want to point out something that I just thought about in that episode, which is Wen Ka-Shang being like, he got to a point where he couldn't handle things.

54:58And he's like, I need to go outside and get some air.

55:01And that was a really good thing for him to do before he, like, said something else.

55:08Because at the end of the day, he knew that, I, I think that showed growth in a lot of ways.

55:14Because, you know, even though he's still talking about, like, the mortal is gonna heal you and all this stuff, I think he pretty quickly, he, he did something where he was like, this is really hard.

55:24I can't handle this right now. I'm gonna step out. And he respected Zishu's, like, feeling on the topic in that kind of way.

55:35And then he, it turns out, he didn't even just go outside to, like, cool himself down from freaking out and then, like, go back to bed.

55:44Like, he went outside, presumably cooled himself down, and then he did something for Zishu, like, playing the flute.

55:51And then he went and did another really nice thing for Zishu.

55:55And obviously there's nothing wrong with, like, having a breakdown and not being able to, you know, do anything else for anyone in that moment.

56:04But it's just the fact that they're showing, oh, oh, they're showing, they're showing the difference in, like, what he had done before.

56:13Which was just, like, not being able to deal with it and then, like, breaking his flute and running away versus, like, taking a breather, playing the flute, and, like, really being as kind and caring and respectful about everything as he possibly can.

56:31So, yeah, that is, like, that is really showing us growth from him.

56:37And I think after that conversation, he probably understands a lot more just about how he's not the only one in the relationship that, like, did something really bad, you know?

56:50Just to have, like, a concrete story instead of just hearing, like, you know, I failed my sect members and I did this and I'm so horrible.

57:00He actually has, like, a real idea of, like, some of these things.

57:05So I still don't know what's gonna happen because everything is happening so fast, it, like I said, it wouldn't be at all surprising for someone to show up and reveal who he is to Zishu before he says something to him about it.

57:19But at the same time, he's, like, at a point in this growth and understanding where I also wouldn't really be surprised if he did just, like, decide to come forward and say something about it.

57:31But because of the timing and the situation going on, it's anybody's guess what is going to, you know, happen first.

57:39Who's gonna say something first?

57:41And I still don't know. There's a chance with all that that Zishu might turn around and be like, I knew all that already.

57:47But I don't think he knows all that already. I think he knows some of that already.

57:52That's my guess, but I feel like we're gonna find out really soon what everybody knows.
