00:00How are you doing? How are you feeling? This is a big night.
00:02Good, yeah, I'm bubbling, man. I'm feeling the energy.
00:05I know a lot of people are excited.
00:06This is kind of breathing new life into the series.
00:09For yourself, what was it like kind of stepping back on set and that first day on set?
00:15It was, I was extremely nervous.
00:19I had also, you know, it was my first time back on a set after the strikes.
00:25And so I had kind of forgot how to be an actor during that time.
00:28I thought I was just a professional picket line walker for a long time.
00:34So it was nerve-wracking being on set again and also stepping back into the shoes of this character who I had been away from for so many years.
00:43But I will say that this character and this project is one of the things I've been most connected to in my entire career.
00:51So it also felt like, you know, putting on your favorite leather jacket and just like getting that skin right back on, man.
00:57It felt amazing.
00:58Was there anything new that you wanted to explore this time around that maybe you felt like you couldn't quite do the last time?
01:06Yeah.
01:06I mean, look, one of the things that's incredible about this character is just how sort of unpredictable he is in some ways.
01:13And obviously I'm not, you know, I don't get to pick where the story goes.
01:17But I will say that when you have a character like this, it gives so many possibilities to the writers who are approaching those directions.
01:24And it seems like every time they write a new scene for Dex, I am surprised and awed and freaked out.
01:33And it just feels amazing.
01:35It feels amazing to have the kind of role where I'm always being challenged and surprised what the next evolution is.
01:44And I know that there was also a big creative overhaul midway through the season.
01:50So what was it like kind of stepping back after the strikes?
01:52And how do you feel about that?
01:53Somebody who was not part of the original version of it and then got asked into it after the creative overhaul.
01:59All I can say is thank God for that creative overhaul.
02:01Yeah, I mean, again, I don't know exactly what the show was before I arrived, but I will say that once I showed up on set with the new creative team in place, Dario and Aaron and Justin and everybody else, it just felt like we were on, we were exactly where we were supposed to be.
02:23And I think there's so much exciting story yet to tell.
02:29And I think these are the people who are doing it.
02:31And who should be doing it.
02:32I know the fans are also curious about some of the other Defenders that could or may or may not.
02:39I don't know a little bit about that, but it sounds pretty cool.
02:41Sign me up for that.
02:42Where's Simone Missick at?
02:44How would you feel about Defenders movie?
02:47Cool, let's do it.
02:48Yeah, yeah.
02:48I mean, I don't feel bad about it.
02:51You're like, whatever they want to do, I'm game.
02:52Yeah, yeah, basically, yeah.
02:53And how would you say that this new iteration kind of compares in terms of the darkness and the gore of the Netflix series?
03:00Yeah, I mean, I would say we are on par with, if not surpassing where we have been in previous seasons.
03:09So, you know, they set a pretty high bar for that stuff.
03:12So it's no joke, not for the faint of heart.
03:15Maybe you can leave Grandma at home for this one.
03:17Aww.
03:17Aww.
