Nikki M. James chats with THR at the 'Daredevil: Born Again' premiere and talks about filming in her hometown of New York, saying there is "nothing more exciting than New York stories." Plus, she shares what she was excited to explore with her character.

00:00Oh my gosh you look gorgeous. Thank you very much. Thank you. Okay so I heard you are a born and bred

00:05New Yorker. Well I'm from New Jersey I have to say. I am from New Jersey. Caveat. But I moved

00:12here the second I could and I have never left. Okay so you were the one that said that New York

00:17is number one on the call sheet so what was it like kind of shooting in your home tour? Oh I love

00:23it. I love it. Well for a lot of reasons. One it's very nice to sleep in your own bed but secondly

00:29like I just think there's nothing more exciting than New York stories and then to add this layer

00:37this like this really cool street level like sort of like crime and and just like the idea of like

00:43getting involved in the corruption and the politics of a city this size and it's beautiful. They make

00:49my city look really beautiful. Are there any like boroughs that we get to really explore? I think

00:56we're gonna head over the river and spend some time in Brooklyn. Okay okay we're gonna be we're

01:01gonna be Brooklyn people. We love that. Yeah yeah for sure. So you know a lot of fans are curious about

01:08you know the past iteration and now this being a new iteration of the series. Would you call this

01:12a continuation or do you think that this does feel like it's something new and can stand on its own?

01:18I think you can't you can't ignore the fact that Charlie and Vincent created these beautiful

01:24characters on another series and I think this show is definitely in the spirit of that but it's all

01:30new. Yeah for sure and what were you excited to explore about your character and kind of you know

01:35bring yourself into the fold? Oh god Kirsten is just she's just the smartest person in the room

01:42always. I love that she's just like this really tough smart girl woman who is who doesn't believe

01:52that every she believes that every single person is her peer you know she's not easily intimidated

01:56and but also it was just it was really really amazing to just get to work with Charlie and to

02:03watch him work he's an incredible artist and he's a really really good person and it was the perfect job

02:09to come out of I've become a mother right before we started shooting this show and we spent a lot

02:15of time Charlie and I talking about our kids off stage and it was really nice. Yeah I love that and I also

02:21know that there was a big creative overhaul midway through the season so what was that like on your

02:27end and how do you feel about the sort of finished product and sort of changes in production? Well I'm

02:32excited to see the finished product along with everyone else in the world you know I feel like all my

02:36friends who hear that I'm working on this think that I have spoilers or information that they don't

02:40have but the truth is like you know they protect our product by keeping us in the dark too so I'm

02:46excited to see it but um I think that we just came back to work and took the great work that we've done

02:53in that like first half and then elevated it and like added to it I think it's all it's all like

03:00additive it was really it was really amazing
