Here, we take a look at some of the most fun and interesting reactions from the 2018 Academy Awards, which aired Sunday night on ABC.
Transcript
00:00Every year at the Oscars, it's not just the winners that deserve all the attention.
00:04With every iconic speech or joke, there's usually a hilarious reaction from an audience
00:08member to go with it. And then that reaction becomes a meme.
00:12Here we take a look at some of the most fun and interesting reactions from the 2018
00:16Academy Awards, which aired Sunday night on ABC.
00:19The night started off with, surprise, jokes about Envelopegate from last year's ceremony.
00:25This year, when you hear your name called, don't get up right away.
00:29And Jennifer Lawrence couldn't help but make fun of pal Emma Stone for it.
00:33Stone was in La La Land, and it was the envelope announcing her Best Actress win that was
00:37mistakenly given to presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway, leading to the epic mistake.
00:42There's a mistake. Moonlight, you guys won Best Picture.
00:46At one point during the show, Jennifer Garner came to a grave realization, as was pointed
00:50out here by Jezebel writer Bobby Finger. The rest of Twitter immediately started guessing
00:55what she could have been thinking about.
00:57Both Get Out star Daniel Kaluuya and Jordan Peele's wife Chelsea Peretti had sweet reactions
01:02to Peele winning Best Original Screenplay. The writer-director also received a standing
01:07ovation for his win. Lady Bird director Greta Gerwig, the fifth woman ever to be nominated
01:11in that category at the Academy Awards, graciously mouthed,
01:14I love him, as Guillermo del Toro gave his acceptance speech after winning for The Shape of Water.
01:20This hashtag should be trending because, as always, there were so many fantastic moments
01:25courtesy of 21-time nominee Meryl Streep. If we had to pick our favorites, though, they would have to
01:30include her reaction to Jodie Foster walking out on crutches and saying,
01:33Streep, I Tanya'd her. Tiffany Haddish telling Streep, I want you to be my mama one day.
01:39And, of course, Frances McDormand ending her powerful speech by asking all the female nominees
01:44in the room to stand up. The actress pointed out, Meryl, if you do it, they'll all do it.
01:49Streep stood, and of course, so did pretty much everyone else.
