Ambitious Alan (Michael David Wright) plans to marry a rich man's daughter. His carefree brother, Todd (Bruce Greenwood), plans nothing at all. Then the two inherit a bikini shop on a gorgeous beach, staffed by gorgeous saleswomen. Todd loves it, Alan wants to sell it. But the shop and a staffer grow on him. Alan's jealous fiancée convinces him to sell the place, but Alan begins to regret both the sale and his engagement, so he, Todd and the employees plot to get their shop back.

00:05:24Oh, what a place to live.
00:05:33If I were only young and single like you.
00:05:37I'm engaged.
00:05:39No.
00:05:55This was your aunt's home.
00:05:57Yeah, Ida was rather extravagant with her purchases.
00:06:02And I'm afraid she had a little trouble keeping up with her payments.
00:06:07Wow.
00:06:08Well, Alan, I think I should tell you now.
00:06:2851% of everything your aunt owned now belongs to you.
00:06:32You're kidding me.
00:06:34No.
00:06:34She felt that with your business education,
00:06:37that you could be trusted with the controlling interest in her estate.
00:06:43So who owns the other 49%?
00:06:45How's it going?
00:06:46Todd?
00:06:47Hey, little brother, isn't this a kick?
00:06:53Oh, hi, counselor.
00:06:55You want a brew?
00:06:56Please, don't get up.
00:06:57I'd rather remember you just as you are.
00:07:00Alan, you and your brother are now the sole owners of your aunt's entire estate.
00:07:07Why don't you get settled in, and I'll come back in a couple of hours and show you the rest of her holdings.
00:07:12Great. Thank you.
00:07:13Yeah.
00:07:14Oh, come on.
00:07:16I'll help you unpack them.
00:07:18I got in yesterday.
00:07:20So you still major in accounting?
00:07:21Todd, I graduated a few days ago.
00:07:23Oh, I was going to send you a card.
00:07:28Aunt Ida's bedroom.
00:07:30Remember the summer she stayed with us when Mom and Dad were on vacation?
00:07:32Yeah, Todd, I remember it.
00:07:36It took me four years of psychotherapy to get over it.
00:07:39That's probably why she left everything to us.
00:07:41All right.
00:07:53Let's hit the beach.
00:07:55Same old Todd.
00:07:56Same old Alan.
00:08:07So tell me, Todd, what have you been up to lately?
00:08:11Well, I was up in Seattle for a while.
00:08:13I finally found a backer for my solar-powered hot dog stands.
00:08:17Then it rained for 60 days in a row.
00:08:18The guy backed out.
00:08:19So I've just been traveling around, staying with friends.
00:08:23How about you?
00:08:23Todd, I have taken the most important step of my life.
00:08:31You finally got up the nerve to ask a girl out on a date.
00:08:35Yeah, and I'm getting married to her.
00:08:38You're kidding.
00:08:39No, really, I'm engaged.
00:08:40Her name is Jane.
00:08:41Here, look, I have a picture of her.
00:08:44It all happened so fast.
00:08:45We met on a blind date.
00:08:47And the next thing you know, I'm meeting her parents.
00:08:49But, you know, it's like Jane says, though.
00:08:51When you're sure, why wait?
00:08:55But Alan's...
00:08:56And Todd, I'd really be honored if you'd be my best man.
00:09:02You really love her.
00:09:04Yeah.
00:09:07Sure.
00:09:08Sure!
00:09:21See that?
00:09:39Dooh.
00:09:43Well, here we are.
00:09:45I think you boys may find this place rather amusing.
00:09:51Coast and through another beautiful day here at KTNA.
00:09:55Well, fellas, this is all yours.
00:10:04Mr. R, I think I've found my calling in life.
00:10:08Really?
00:10:10And I had you figured for a brain surgeon.
00:10:13Yeah.
00:10:17Oh, hi, Mr. Remington.
00:10:19Hello, girls.
00:10:19Hi.
00:10:20Hey, gentlemen, I want you to meet your new sales force.
00:10:24Kathy, Cindy...
00:10:25Hi.
00:10:26...and Ronnie.
00:10:27Hi.
00:10:28Hey, girls, these are the new owners.
00:10:31Alan and Todd Finston.
00:10:33They're Ida's two nephews.
00:10:35Perhaps she mentioned them to you?
00:10:36Oh, yes, she did.
00:10:38Which one of you two is Todd?
00:10:40Oh, I am.
00:10:45Uh, Mr. Remington, I'd like to look over the store's lease as soon as possible.
00:10:49Oh, of course, Alan.
00:10:50Why don't you meet me at the office tomorrow morning and we can go over everything then?
00:10:54If you have to, you can bring him.
00:10:57Oh, that's...
00:10:58That's okay.
00:10:59Alan's the businessman in the family.
00:11:01No kidding.
00:11:02See you tomorrow.
00:11:04Goodbye, everyone.
00:11:06Listen, Todd, would you mind...
00:11:11Todd, would you mind holding this hand at the corner of the floor over there, please?
00:11:17Oh, sure.
00:11:19We have to measure the store.
00:11:21I don't know what you're doing, but I don't know what you're doing.
00:11:28Mind your matters.
00:11:31Treat me right.
00:11:34Silly boy, not tonight.
00:11:39Well, it's not that I don't like all the things you do.
00:11:45I won't be as easy as you want me to.
00:11:53Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh.
00:11:54Silly boy, oh, mama told me about you.
00:11:59Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh.
00:12:02Silly boy, oh, can't you be nice now?
00:12:05Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh.
00:12:07Silly boy, oh, ooh.
00:12:09Ah!
00:12:09What a life.
00:12:15You and me living here, running a bikini shop.
00:12:20It's gonna be great.
00:12:21Of course, you and Jane can have Anna at his bedroom.
00:12:28I'll give you guys your price.
00:12:30Here, Todd, take a look at this figure.
00:12:33Well, what about it?
00:12:33Well, based on some ballpark estimations,
00:12:36this is how much you and I will divide when we sell the bikini store in the house.
00:12:40Sell them?
00:12:41Are you nuts?
00:12:42It's gonna be so much more fun staying right here.
00:12:48Fun?
00:12:48I'm a college graduate now, Todd.
00:12:52I have my future all planned.
00:12:55I had plenty of fun in college.
00:12:57I'll bet.
00:12:59Look, anyway, Aunt Ida left me the controlling interest, Todd.
00:13:02She knew she could trust me to do what was best for us.
00:13:05Best for you, you mean?
00:13:09As for me, it was ordained that I live out the rest of my days right here.
00:13:18It's my destiny.
00:13:25Well, you can live out your destiny for about a week, Todd,
00:13:28because that's how long it's gonna take me to get everything taken care of.
00:13:31It's almost opening time.
00:13:43Don't you girls think you should be getting dressed for work?
00:13:45They are dressed for work, Ellen.
00:13:49Show them, girls.
00:13:50No, Todd.
00:13:56Alan.
00:13:58You can't expect to sell the merchandise
00:14:01unless the customer knows what it looks like when it's on.
00:14:06I don't have time to argue with you, Todd.
00:14:08I have to go over Aunt Ida's books.
00:14:09All finished, young man.
00:14:24Gotta hand it to you.
00:14:26It's a very clever idea of yours
00:14:28installing a two-way mirror for security.
00:14:31Too much shoplifting among kids these days.
00:14:34That's right.
00:14:35You can't be too careful.
00:14:36So keep it right here on KTNA Santa Monica.
00:15:02No, there's nothing much striking a flesh
00:15:06Hello.
00:15:08Welcome to Ida's Bikini Shop.
00:15:21Miss Siree, the old size five rack.
00:15:24Yeah.
00:15:25You certainly are a size five.
00:15:27That's a mighty fine article of swimwear you've chosen there.
00:15:30However, I think you might find some of our other suits
00:15:32to be equally well-crafted.
00:15:39Yeah.
00:15:40Yep, here it is.
00:15:42The old dressing room.
00:15:45Well, I hope you'll find it comfortable.
00:15:47Uh, this is a new mirror we've recently had installed
00:15:55just for your convenience.
00:15:55Uh, if you'll excuse me, I'll, uh, I'll just, I'll be, uh, I'll be going.
00:16:13I can't believe it, man.
00:16:22This is going to be so great.
00:16:28I'm just glad that Aunt Ida is not around to see this.
00:16:31Oh, well, well, now, if I ever get married,
00:16:47it's going to be no size five.
00:16:50Todd, you should be ashamed of yourself.
00:16:53I am.
00:16:54I'm ashamed.
00:16:55I'm ashamed.
00:16:56Sure.
00:16:57May I help you find something?
00:17:08I need a new bathing suit.
00:17:16How about this?
00:17:20It must be crazy.
00:17:24Honey, I want to get a son to come.
00:17:27I'm going out there.
00:17:35Let's see if she needs any help.
00:17:52Ah!
00:17:57In case you're interested, Todd,
00:18:01I finished going over Aunt Ida's financial records last night.
00:18:04Yeah.
00:18:05It seems the bikini shop's been doing a decent volume of business, but it's been losing money all these years.
00:18:24Well, what was that?
00:18:26Well, Aunt Ida spent much more on her extravagant promotions and her parties than she took in from sales.
00:18:32She had a lot of fun.
00:18:34She didn't know how to run a business.
00:18:39Can I borrow your hair, darling?
00:18:42Definitely.
00:18:42So, anyway, she put all of her divorce settlement money into the store.
00:18:53When that ran out, she remortgaged the house to the hill just to keep the business going.
00:18:57Well, let's all move.
00:18:58What it means, Todd, is that we're going to have to work awfully hard to sell the store.
00:19:06You see, it's got to be turned into a profit-making business in order to attract a buyer.
00:19:10Now, I figure it'll take a couple of weeks to get everything taken care of.
00:19:18In the meantime, we can just live here.
00:19:22Now, you, Todd, can either help me out or not.
00:19:24It's up to you.
00:19:28It's no offense, Helen, but I think living with you is going to drive me crazy.
00:19:37I said no offense.
00:19:40Hi, Ronnie.
00:19:52Hi, Ronnie.
00:19:52Hi.
00:19:54How was your cooking class?
00:19:55Oh, not so good.
00:19:57Yeah, the teacher gave us a D on our project.
00:19:59Just because we were trying to be creative.
00:20:01What did you make?
00:20:03Pineapple inside out cake.
00:20:05You want a taste?
00:20:06Um, that looks really delicious, but I just ate.
00:20:12Maybe Alan and Todd would like some.
00:20:14I bet Todd will.
00:20:16Yeah.
00:20:17I think he's really cute.
00:20:19Yeah.
00:20:20But Alan's kind of a nerd.
00:20:22You know, he's so Mr. Businessman.
00:20:25I think he's really nice.
00:20:27He can't help it if he's smart.
00:20:29Yeah, well, if he's so smart, then how come he's getting married so young?
00:20:32God, I can't imagine being married at our age.
00:20:34Yeah.
00:20:35He's engaged?
00:20:36Yeah, you didn't know?
00:20:39No, I didn't.
00:20:42Hey, you've done any new designs yet?
00:20:43No.
00:20:44Let's see.
00:20:44They're not ready yet.
00:20:45Oh, so what else is new?
00:20:47Yeah.
00:20:48Uh, but, Jane, I don't have a favorite style of cummerbund.
00:20:52Look, the wedding isn't until September.
00:20:54Couldn't you just pick one out for me and I'll look at it when I get back?
00:20:58Oh, all right.
00:21:00But I wish that you could come home sooner.
00:21:05Daddy says his company has connections in California.
00:21:08And if you want, you can help you sell the store.
00:21:11Jane, I'd really like to do this on my own.
00:21:14Um, I'll be home as soon as I can.
00:21:16You better be.
00:21:19Walk to you tomorrow.
00:21:21Sure.
00:21:24Kissy, kissy, kiss.
00:21:29Wow.
00:21:30Kissy, kissy, kiss.
00:21:35Alan, you are in love, man.
00:21:38I've been doing some brainstorming.
00:21:39I've come up with some great new ideas for improving business.
00:21:42Well, I'm really glad you want to help, Todd, but I've come up with my own ideas.
00:21:50Less expensive merchandise.
00:21:53No free gift wrapping.
00:21:55Longer hours.
00:21:58Alan, didn't they teach you anything about human beings in college?
00:22:01People want to have fun.
00:22:05This woman's name is Bertha Hillgaard, and I think we stand a good chance of selling her the store.
00:22:11She's had no experience in retail, but she's always dreamed of owning a shop on the board wall.
00:22:17Well, let's hope it works out.
00:22:19Thanks a lot for your help, Mr. Reddington.
00:22:21Well, thank you.
00:22:23It's been a pleasure serving you.
00:22:24Thanks.
00:22:32Well, look who's dressed like a grown-up today.
00:22:37Thanks a lot for dressing up, Todd.
00:22:38I really appreciate it.
00:22:39What's this problem?
00:22:40Great.
00:22:41Oh, Saul, isn't this marvelous?
00:22:52Marvelous.
00:22:54Miss Hillgaard, welcome to Ida's Bikini Shop.
00:22:57I'm Richard Remington, and this is Alan and Todd Finston, the store owners.
00:23:03It's a pleasure meeting all of you.
00:23:05This is my attorney, Saul Levine.
00:23:06Saul.
00:23:07How do you do?
00:23:07Miss Hillgaard, I've heard so much about you.
00:23:14I'm so pleased to meet you.
00:23:21Ah, what a darling look.
00:23:24Awesome.
00:23:25Darling, darling.
00:23:27May we look around?
00:23:28Oh, yes, yes.
00:23:29Feel free.
00:23:31Oh.
00:23:37Charming.
00:23:41Huh?
00:23:42Charming?
00:23:43Yeah, charming.
00:23:43Charming.
00:23:51Ah, Saul.
00:23:54Look, isn't this lovely?
00:23:57It's interesting.
00:23:58Listen, I really think we ought to examine the books now.
00:24:01Books?
00:24:02So, books?
00:24:03I don't think that's necessary.
00:24:05They're doing excellent business here.
00:24:06I don't think it's a secret.
00:24:11Yo!
00:24:12I got a delivery here from Double Exposure Sprimware.
00:24:16Ah, I'll take that.
00:24:18Great.
00:24:21Phew.
00:24:25Ha, ha, ha, ha.
00:24:29Hey, uh.
00:24:32Yes?
00:24:33I need a check.
00:24:35It's a C-O-D.
00:24:37Oh, what?
00:24:39Wait a minute.
00:24:41Are you...
00:24:42You're trying to tell me that, uh...
00:24:44We don't have credit?
00:24:46Credit?
00:24:47Ida's Bikini Shop?
00:24:49Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha
00:25:19Don't tell me that with books, because there are no books to use at this house.
00:25:22So, I just wanted to get into the bowling business like my best friend, Sissy.
00:25:25Come on!
00:25:26You're supposed to pray for a fire.
00:25:27Oh, my gosh.
00:25:28So...
00:25:29Listen, couldn't you use a good patch to light up?
00:25:32We can talk price.
00:25:34Hey, let's do business!
00:25:46Hey, Ellen.
00:25:48How would you like to make 500 extra bucks this month that we can put back into the business?
00:25:53Sure, Todd.
00:25:54How?
00:25:55Kathy and Cindy and Ronnie were telling me how their rent just went up.
00:25:57So, I thought, since we have so much extra room, we could just...
00:25:59Well, they could move in.
00:26:00Wait a minute, Todd.
00:26:01No, there's no way they can move in here.
00:26:03Now, first of all, it's hard enough just you and I getting along.
00:26:05Secondly, how do you think Jane would like it if she knew that I was living with three girls?
00:26:12Yeah, I see what you mean.
00:26:14Well, good.
00:26:15There's just one problem, though.
00:26:18What's that, Todd?
00:26:21I heard he asked him.
00:26:25All right!
00:26:28Oh, God!
00:26:29You're so nice.
00:26:30I'm gonna be so upset.
00:26:31Ronnie will be here in a while.
00:26:32Well, I'll take your stuff down to your rooms.
00:26:34They happen to be right next to mine.
00:26:37Hey, have you guys made plans for dinner yet?
00:26:39What?
00:26:40No, we haven't.
00:26:41We'll make it.
00:26:42Yeah, we're for making those.
00:26:43Come on, Katie.
00:26:47See ya?
00:26:48Our own private chefs.
00:26:49I hope you guys like tuna sandwich casserole.
00:26:53Oh, it's so nice!
00:26:55Maybe just a little more of the crust.
00:27:00No.
00:27:06This stuff is great.
00:27:08I've never had tuna sandwich casserole made with Wonder Bread before.
00:27:10And mayonnaise.
00:27:11That's our secret recipe.
00:27:13Well, who feels like dancing?
00:27:15I do!
00:27:16Yeah, and there's this new place that opened up on Venice Boulevard.
00:27:21Um, I think I'll pass tonight.
00:27:24Me too.
00:27:25I never dance on a full stomach.
00:27:27Oh, well.
00:27:28Come on, Cindy.
00:27:29Let's go get our stuff.
00:27:30Yeah.
00:27:31Okay.
00:27:32I'll see you guys later.
00:27:33Um, Alan, if you're not gonna finish that.
00:27:34Be my guest.
00:27:36Hey, Kathy, what's this place like?
00:27:38I don't wanna be overdressed.
00:27:39Well, should we get rid of the evidence?
00:27:44Definitely.
00:27:50You know, I think it's nice you know what you wanna do so early in your life.
00:27:56You know, you're the first person that's said that to me since I've been out here.
00:28:01I mean, you've obviously already found the right girl.
00:28:04Obviously.
00:28:05And a college education's a real asset.
00:28:10I'm going to college part-time.
00:28:12You are?
00:28:13Mm-hmm.
00:28:14I didn't know that.
00:28:15What are you studying?
00:28:16Well, right now I'm studying art, but I'm trying to get into the Fashion Institute.
00:28:20I have this dream that I'm gonna be a fashion designer.
00:28:25No kidding.
00:28:26That's great.
00:28:27Do you have any designs yet?
00:28:29Only about a thousand.
00:28:30Right.
00:28:32And I experiment on the machine in the back of the shop whenever I get the chance.
00:28:35Well, that's great.
00:28:37I'd like to see some of your designs sometime, if you don't mind.
00:28:41Oh, thanks, but...
00:28:44I never show my work to anyone.
00:28:45I guess...
00:28:47I'm afraid they'll say it's no good.
00:28:50Yeah, but you'll never know unless you try.
00:28:54Yeah.
00:28:55I know.
00:28:56Well, I guess this is the last of it.
00:29:11Yeah.
00:29:12Would you excuse me, please?
00:29:13Mm-hmm.
00:29:14I think I'll just go take a jog on the beach before I go to bed.
00:29:27Well, you go ahead.
00:29:29I have a lot of work to do.
00:29:44Hello?
00:29:48Mr. Remington.
00:29:49Hello, this is Alan Finston.
00:29:50Do you have a minute to go over some figures with me?
00:29:52Sure.
00:29:53Oh, thanks.
00:29:55This is the operator.
00:29:56I have an emergency phone call for Alan Finston from Jane Rutledge.
00:30:00Will you release?
00:30:01Yes, I will, operator. Thank you.

00:30:36Oh.
00:30:37Well, Jane, if it means that much to you, I guess we could always change the date of the wedding.

00:33:08We're going to have to shut this whole thing down right now.
00:33:11Wait a minute, wait a minute.
00:33:17That's okay.
00:33:18That's okay.
00:33:19We'll continue the party later tonight.
00:33:21For what?
00:33:24In our house, 12-hundred-ocean beach drive.
00:33:27We're going to have a party.
00:33:44We're going to have a good time.
00:33:46Todd, I need one Bloody Mary, one Tequila Sunrise, and a Tom Cole.
00:33:53Coming up.
00:33:57And a Tom.
00:33:59And I usually use number six for my face.
00:34:01Now, I start with number four for my arm.
00:34:04And if I don't get too burned, I move down to number two.
00:34:06We don't use sunblock, do you?
00:34:10I once broke up with a guy because he used sunblock.
00:34:12Cindy, have you seen Ronnie anywhere?
00:34:14Well, I think she's upstairs.
00:34:17Margie, this is Cindy.
00:34:19She uses number eight.
00:34:20Oh, you do?
00:34:21Well, I use number eight, but only when it's really bright outside.
00:34:23It's too hot, you know, and I want to burn my face.
00:34:25You have a great tan.
00:34:26What else do you use?
00:34:27One day, I was five days a week.
00:34:31Now, I'm ready for a party.
00:34:35Yeah, we're going to have a party.
00:34:43We're going to have a good time.
00:34:50Come on.
00:34:53Come on.
00:34:54I can't hear you.

00:35:09Who's this?
00:35:13Come on.
00:35:22Roger?
00:35:23Oh, thanks.

00:35:32The sumo wrestling finals are on.
00:35:43Whoa.

00:35:49All right, this is it.
00:35:49This is the last button.
00:36:00This has got to be it.
00:36:09I'm dying.
00:36:09I'm dying.
00:36:15Remington.
00:36:15Can I join you?
00:36:35God, don't let me wake up this time.
00:36:37Alan, um, I think you're getting drunk.
00:36:50Maybe so.
00:36:53But while I am, I want to tell you something.
00:36:56I think I'm going to be sorry when I sell the story.
00:37:02I mean, you probably wouldn't believe this, but I have had a lot of fun these past few
00:37:06weeks.
00:37:08I even started to enjoy being around Todd.
00:37:13And I'm really going to miss working with you girls.
00:37:19We're going to miss you guys, too.
00:37:25Look, Ronnie, there's something I want to say to you.
00:37:34Well, it's just this.
00:37:39Alan, Alan, what's wrong?
00:37:45Alan, Alan, what is...
00:37:47Alan, what are you doing?
00:37:50Are you okay?
00:37:54Hi, Jane.
00:37:56Alan, what's going on here?
00:37:58I came out here tonight because I thought you might be lonely.
00:38:01Oh.
00:38:02Well, this is sort of a promotion for the store.
00:38:06Oh, Ronnie, this is Jane, my fiancée.
00:38:11Jane, this is Ronnie.
00:38:13She works in the store.
00:38:15Hi.
00:38:22I'm going to leave you two alone.
00:38:23I'm just going to go up to my room and change.
00:38:25You live here?
00:38:27I thought you knew.
00:38:30No, I didn't.
00:38:34Well, at least you have your own bedroom.
00:38:37Oh, no, I share it with the other two girls.
00:38:42I can't just tell them to leave tonight, Jane.
00:38:45They gave up their apartment.
00:38:47Okay, fine.
00:38:48Then we'll just go to a hotel.
00:38:56Hey, Alan, what's going on?
00:38:58Jane, this is my brother, Todd.
00:39:07Todd, this is my fiancée, Jane.
00:39:10Hi, Jane.
00:39:11Welcome to the family.
00:39:15Nice girl.
00:39:16And another shrimp cocktail for the lady.
00:39:27So, Daddy said to tell you that you drive a hard bargain.
00:39:31But you can have your first race after three months.
00:39:34But, Jane, I didn't even ask for a raise.
00:39:37Oh, Alan, just take what's coming to you.
00:39:38Anyway, I haven't told you what the best news is yet.
00:39:42What's that?
00:39:43We now have a beautiful new home to move into right after the wedding.
00:39:47It's got tennis courts, a pool, maid service.
00:39:50And it's not going to cost us a penny.
00:39:53You don't mean you're...
00:39:54My parents' guest house.
00:39:56Oh, Alan, you're always telling me to be more practical.
00:39:58And Daddy says we can live there for our first year.
00:40:00It's going to be so much fun, Alan.
00:40:02And we can have dinner with my parents every night.
00:40:04Oh, Daddy told me to tell you that he wants to teach a tennis.
00:40:07Jane, I really don't think that moving in with you...
00:40:10I can hardly wait to start rejecting him.
00:40:15What do you think about aqua, Alan?
00:40:17Jane, honey, you've been talking all through dinner.
00:40:22But now I'd like to say something to you.
00:40:24What, Alan?
00:40:28Well, now I know that we've had our future planned for a long time.
00:40:34But you should see how great it is living out here.
00:40:37It's so relaxing having a place on the beach.
00:40:40And I think if you gave it a chance, you'd really enjoy it too.
00:40:45What are you saying, Alan?
00:40:46Well, just this.
00:40:48We could get married and then live out here.
00:40:53I really enjoy running my own store.
00:40:55And you could become involved too.
00:40:57It may not be a whole lot of money at first, but after a while...
00:41:00I can't believe what you're saying.
00:41:02Jane, I've worked so hard to make these plans for us.
00:41:07And now you want to throw it all away on a big...
00:41:09Star.
00:41:13I think you care more about those show-off sales girls than you do about anything else.
00:41:20No, no, Jane.
00:41:22That's not it, really.
00:41:23I've done everything I can to make you happy.
00:41:27I know that.
00:41:29I know, Jane.
00:41:33You promised me you'll sell the store right away.
00:41:40Oh, God.
00:41:47Excuse me, sir.
00:41:48Would you like to see this search right now?
00:41:50No.
00:41:51Not now.
00:41:52Of course.
00:41:53Maybe we'll just take a look.
00:42:06Alan?
00:42:08Hmm?
00:42:09Was it good for you?
00:42:14Yeah, Jane.
00:42:15It was.
00:42:16Now, aren't you glad you decided to sell that store?
00:42:29Sure I am.
00:42:33Ugh.
00:42:34Ugh.
00:42:37I still feel nauseous from last night.
00:42:41Why'd you let me eat so much, Alan?
00:42:43I'm sorry you're not feeling very well, Jane.
00:42:47Maybe you should just take it easy today.
00:42:49I have a lot of things to take care of at the store, and...
00:42:51Oh, no, you don't.
00:42:53This is my first time in California.
00:42:56You're taking me sightseeing, hon.
00:42:58But, Jane, if you're not feeling...
00:42:59I want to go sightseeing.
00:43:02You're not going to make me cry again, are you?
00:43:04No, no, you're right.
00:43:05Let's go sightseeing.
00:43:06Where would you like to go, Jane?
00:43:08Disneyland?
00:43:10No.
00:43:10No day or dry.
00:43:12Now, I'm going to take a shower, hon.
00:43:14Would you be dear and call room service?
00:43:15I'd like some blueberry pancakes.
00:43:18Jane, you asked me to help you stay on your diet.
00:43:20I can't shop on an empty stomach.
00:43:23Start my diet right after breakfast.
00:43:37You sure you want to wait, Mr. Remington?
00:43:38Oh, yes, yes.
00:43:39Okay, see you later.
00:43:41Right.
00:43:43Say hi.
00:43:44Jane and I were out shopping.
00:43:46I came as soon as I could.
00:43:47What's up?
00:43:48Alan, I think we have an excellent chance for a sale.
00:43:51Oh, no kidding.
00:43:52Who's the buyer?
00:43:53Well, his name is Eric Green.
00:43:55I don't know anything about him except that he has a lot of money,
00:43:58and he's willing to pay cash.
00:43:59He's coming by to see the place first thing in the morning,
00:44:01so I had the girls clean it up.
00:44:03Oh, yeah, great idea.
00:44:05Thanks a lot, Mr. Remington.
00:44:06See you, friend.
00:44:08See you tomorrow.
00:44:09Siny bubble.
00:44:11Oh, aloha, Mr. R.
00:44:13Aloha means hello and goodbye.
00:44:16Goodbye.
00:44:18From Hawaii.
00:44:19Pure cane sugar.
00:44:20Now you say pure cane sugar.
00:44:22From Hawaii.
00:44:22Todd, what are you doing?
00:44:24Man, we're talking very high-concept marketing strategy here for tomorrow.
00:44:29Like, inside one of these balloons is a free trip to Hawaii, man.
00:44:32Buy a bikini, pop a balloon.
00:44:34Todd, this is ridiculous.
00:44:35We just had the place straightened up.
00:44:40Mr. Remington found a buyer.
00:44:45Wait a minute.
00:44:45I thought you were beginning to like what we had going on here.
00:44:50Todd, I never said I wasn't going to sell the store.
00:44:58It's Jane, isn't it?
00:45:05Alan, are you going to let the girl run your life?
00:45:07No, no.
00:45:07No one runs my life, Todd, including you.
00:45:11But why don't you just get rid of this mess you just made, okay?
00:45:13Because I say we're selling the store.
00:45:15Well, I say we're not selling the store.
00:45:16I think we should...
00:45:17God damn it, Todd.
00:45:18It doesn't matter what you think.
00:45:20It never has mattered.
00:45:26I own 51% of this store, Todd.
00:45:31I guess I'd forgotten about that.
00:45:38Do whatever you want.
00:45:39Mail me my share in Hawaii.
00:46:02Hey, look out!
00:46:03Wait, what's the deal?
00:46:06Oh, no!
00:46:07Oh, no!
00:46:07Oh, no!
00:46:07Oh, no!
00:46:08Hey, Mr. Green, I'm Richard Remington.
00:46:29We've talked on the phone.
00:46:31Charlotte.
00:46:32Oh, yes.
00:46:33This is Alan Finston, the principal owner, in case you have any special questions.
00:46:39Hello.
00:46:41If you'd like to, feel free to look around.
00:46:43That won't be necessary.
00:46:45The escrow papers, please.
00:46:47I'm ready to sign.
00:46:47Oh, yes, I have an idea.
00:46:50Mr. Green, before you decide, don't you think you want to look over the stock a little bit?
00:46:56No.
00:46:57Well, the books.
00:46:59Oh.
00:47:00Well, the books!
00:47:01Don't you think you'd better check those books?
00:47:02I'm not concerned with your books, Mr. Finston.
00:47:06Everything seems to be okay here.
00:47:10Whoo!
00:47:11Whoo!
00:47:23Whoo!
00:47:25So, Mr. Green, have you always been involved in retail?
00:47:52Retail? I find it utterly repugnant.
00:48:00No, I'm going to make a few structural changes to this place,
00:48:04and then turn it into a recruitment and meditation center for my organization,
00:48:10the Holistic Church of Truth and Tranquility.
00:48:15We are offering an alternative lifestyle for young people seeking inner peace through meditation,
00:48:22prayer, and forfeiture of all worldly possessions.
00:48:29Perhaps you and the rest of your staff might be interested in joining our church.
00:48:34You may find yourself seeking a new direction in life, now that you will be unemployed.
00:48:42Good day.
00:48:47Mr. Green, wait a minute.
00:48:52I'm afraid I've changed my mind.
00:48:54I beg your pardon. This store is not for sale.
00:48:59Mr. Finston, you've already sold it. I own it now.
00:49:05Why?
00:49:06Well, then I want to buy it back.
00:49:08Alan Finston! Just what?
00:49:10Shut up, Jane!
00:49:12Mr. Green, how about it?
00:49:18Mr. Finston, I'm a reasonable man, and not without sentiment.
00:49:27There is another location available up the street which may suit our needs.
00:49:31You know, I think I'm going to let you buy your store bag.
00:49:35You are?
00:49:36You are.
00:49:37Yes.
00:49:38And I estimate the place is worth $66,000.
00:49:43But that's $6,000 more than you paid for it.
00:49:48Precisely.
00:49:49And I'll expect the $6,000 in cash two weeks from today, or there's no sale.
00:49:57Good day.
00:49:59Well, Alan, you were great.
00:50:14But we can't possibly raise $6,000 in two weeks.
00:50:17I guess we can. We'll find a way.
00:50:20Alan Finston, what's come over you?
00:50:23If you intend to go through this idiocy, you and I are through.
00:50:29Jane, you're right.
00:50:38You and I are through.
00:50:49Wow, Alan, what made you decide to do that?
00:50:52I don't know.
00:50:54I guess I just hate Aqua.
00:50:56Huh?
00:50:57Never mind.
00:50:59The point is, I love this store, and I love all of you.
00:51:03And I intend to fight to keep what we have.
00:51:06Oh.
00:51:07We're going to have to work together night and day to pull this off.
00:51:10Right.
00:51:11Right.
00:51:14I just wish I knew where to reach Todd.
00:51:18Did you mail the invitations, dear?
00:51:20Yes.
00:51:21On the way home.
00:51:22All 300 of them.
00:51:23Good.
00:51:24Now, who are we going to seat at the head table?
00:51:27Hello?
00:51:28Oh, Daddy.
00:51:29Princess?
00:51:30What is it?
00:51:31Well, this is all we have.
00:51:33Yeah.
00:51:34I've got it.
00:51:35We have a giant sale.
00:51:49It'll be the biggest promotion the store has ever had.
00:51:50I'm back.
00:51:51Hey.
00:51:52Tom.
00:51:53What's happening?
00:51:54What's happening?
00:51:55The Honolulu Airport was snowed in.
00:51:56Look, Todd.
00:51:57I know I haven't given you much of a chance since I got out of here.
00:51:59But if you just give me a chance, I'm back.
00:52:00I'm back.

00:52:30Okay?
00:52:31Sure.
00:52:32You got it.
00:52:33Okay.
00:52:34And I just know it's all because of that stupid bikini store.
00:52:39Son of a bitch.
00:52:40You know what I've spent already on the catering alone?
00:52:43Isn't there something you can do, dear?
00:52:44You have connections in California.
00:52:45Yeah.

00:53:24Oh, Mr. Remington.
00:53:27He stopped returning my calls.
00:53:31Hey, hey.
00:53:33What?
00:53:34What?
00:53:35All we need is a fantastic new line of bikinis
00:53:39that everybody will want to buy that won't cost us a dime.
00:53:45If only one of us knew how to...
00:53:49Ronnie!
00:53:54You are going to design our new line of bikinis.
00:53:58But I don't know if I can.
00:54:00Ronnie, I think it's time you found out.
00:54:02But you must find it.
00:54:04One of your salesgirls says she put it away from me.
00:54:07I know. I'm looking.
00:54:08How are you supposed to tie this?
00:54:09I'm not sure.
00:54:10You can wait for one minute.
00:54:11Don't you have any tops with darts?
00:54:13Darts?
00:54:14This is ridiculous.
00:54:16We're your salesgirls anyway.
00:54:24No, it's still not right.
00:54:26It's okay, Ronnie.
00:54:27You'll think of something.
00:54:28Yeah, we still have time.
00:54:31Come in.
00:54:34I thought this day would never end.
00:54:37How'd it go in here?
00:54:39Well, you can't rush these things, you know.
00:54:41Yeah, I'm a lousy model.
00:54:43I can't even stand still.
00:54:45Thanks.
00:54:46But it's my fault.
00:54:48I haven't come up with a thing.
00:54:50Wait till you guys see this.
00:54:54We're all set.
00:54:55This hospital supply house is going out of business.
00:54:58I got all this stuff for almost nothing.
00:55:04Surgical gowns.
00:55:05Dozens of them.
00:55:06There must be hundreds of yards of material in here.
00:55:08We can use it to make the bikinis.
00:55:10Look at this.
00:55:12Surgical thread, needles, scissors, everything we need.
00:55:16Well, I had to spend the rest of our money, but from now on these bikinis are going to be 100% profit.
00:55:25What's with him?
00:55:26Todd, what are you going to do with all this green stuff?
00:55:29Yeah, what kind of a look would that be?
00:55:31The latest in high fashion hospitals.
00:55:33The coolest.
00:55:38I got it.
00:55:39What?
00:55:40I never wanted to register for the draft.
00:55:44Where do I enlist?
00:55:47Fantastic.
00:55:48You did it.
00:55:49They were absolutely fantastic.
00:55:50Unbelievable.
00:55:53Yeah.
00:55:54Just remember, you guys, we have to sell 150 of these by a week from Saturday.
00:55:59Let's think about that in the morning.
00:56:01I'm going to bed.
00:56:02Yeah, me too.
00:56:03Can I come with you?
00:56:05We can practice military maneuvers.
00:56:08I know some great war games.
00:56:10You want to see my bayonet tricks?
00:56:15I'm really proud of you.
00:56:17I've been really proud of you, too, these past few weeks.
00:56:19Suddenly you were there, and I knew my life could never be the same.
00:56:40Oh, baby.
00:56:43Oh, it's like a dream come true.
00:56:49I always knew your arms would hold me tight.
00:57:13Hey, Alex.
00:57:17Oh, Todd, I'm sorry.
00:57:19I was too busy thinking.
00:57:21Look at this.
00:57:22Now, at the rate we're going, we're going to be lucky to finish these bikinis by next Friday.
00:57:26Right?
00:57:27Right.
00:57:28Well, that gives us just one day for your big sale.
00:57:31How are we going to sell 150 bathing suits in one day?
00:57:34Don't worry. We can do it.
00:57:35This is going to be the biggest beach party anybody around here has ever seen.
00:57:39I don't know, Todd.
00:57:40This is another excuse for one of your big parties.
00:57:42Hey.
00:57:44I thought we were working together now.
00:57:48You're right.
00:57:49We are.
00:57:51Besides, it is a good excuse to have a party.
00:57:58Just kidding.
00:58:01And now they're making their own bikinis in the store so they can raise $6,000.
00:58:05I have a client out here who holds a seat on the Planning Commission.
00:58:12I think you'll be able to help us.
00:58:15Don't you worry, Princess.
00:58:18Alan is going to marry you.
00:58:20I don't even want to marry him anymore.
00:58:27I just want to ruin his life.
00:58:31Whoa, the jungle look.
00:58:33Yeah.
00:58:34Hey.

00:58:41What?
00:58:42We have a cease and desist order.
00:58:43No more manufacturing on the premises.
00:58:44What?
00:58:45Uh, Joe, you want to give me a hand with these?
00:58:46Yes.
00:58:47No.
00:58:48You can't take these.
00:58:49Come on.
