00:00My backyard's open right now so that you can waltz on back there while I pay taxes
00:04for every inch of land that you step on.
00:09You have stumbled onto the largest land dispute on social media.
00:14Been in a pretty big land battle over this dirt back here,
00:17specifically the creek that goes through my backyard since July of last year.
00:22This property owner has been at war with her town.
00:26When I found the home that I'm in now, I fell in love immediately.
00:30The bad news?
00:31The prior owners did not tell me that my backyard, with a creek running through it, as was advertised,
00:39was being used as an extension of a public park and had been for decades.
00:44And while the size of my property shouldn't matter, I only own a little bit more than half an acre.
00:49My county filed suit against me to either take my land or force me to share
00:52when my neighbors started pounding their fists and getting quite upset
00:56when I exercised my private property rights and told them I no longer wanted to share
01:00my land with them, like prior owners did, after they abused me and abused my land.
01:06And for the record, I did try to share with them for almost a year and a half.
01:10Everything I did was used against me.
01:11Trespassers have been spotted in her back garden and are trying to intimidate her.
01:17I'm inside my home and this man is filling up.
01:22It's not your land here.
01:23Hey, I want to know something.
01:29What's your problem?
01:30Not you.
01:31The entitled members of my community who stomped their feet and had a tantrum
01:35and asked the government to open up my backyard so that their kids could dip their toes.
01:39Yeah, you.
01:40What's your problem?
01:42Because I heard from a little bird that you guys have been writing emails to the county commissioner
01:47on the daily to complain, and I can't figure out what in the world you're complaining about.
01:54My backyard's open right now so that you can waltz on back there while I pay taxes
01:59for every inch of land that you step on, including the land underneath the creek.
02:05Is that not what you wanted?
02:07Because I thought it was.
02:09Perhaps you're mad that I'm doing a better job parenting your little kids
02:13when you allow them to come down to the creek under the age of 12
02:17by themselves near a body of water during runoff season.
02:21Because that's not only against the park rules, but it's dangerous.
02:24And it's negligent.
02:26But damn, you guys.
02:27Man, hard to please.
02:30To those that want to make me out to be the bad guy for filming,
02:33I'm not trying to ruin your day.
02:34I'm just trying to protect myself from property damage and liability.
02:38Now, right before I got sued, the county held a town hall to discuss my land,
02:42and about 75 people from the community showed up.
02:44It was a modern-day Salem witch trial and a whole ordeal fighting over my dirt.
02:50And now, yesterday, after months of negotiation with the county,
02:55I have reached a settlement.
02:57They finally come to an agreement.
03:00Get ready to see her new property lines.
03:03There has been temp fencing erected around my property,
03:05so come with me.
03:06I'm going to show you all around.
03:08And I'm seeing it for the first time, by the way.
03:09This tree right here, really kind of all the way behind that sandwich board,
03:14those are trees and property that I just conveyed to the county for public use.
03:20You can see that they have kind of the rule board out here for accessing Bear Creek.
03:26The property line that I used to have was including all of this stuff right here.
03:32Kind of weird to think about, but here we go.
03:33So, we're skipping down the trail.
03:36I do still have liability signs up just while we finalized everything.
03:42Now, for those of you looking at this going,
03:44what in the world?
03:45This is the beach.
03:47Yeah, and the water is really, really high right now.
03:51Taking a look back now that I'm in,
03:53all of that, all of that right here,
03:57all the way to this line,
03:58that was my property.
04:01And now it will become public land.
04:03Those trees will be protected.
04:05I'm absolutely thrilled about that.
04:07The public will get a loop trail that comes in through here
04:10and goes around and which is hopefully ADA accessible.
04:14And as you can see,
04:16private property beyond this point.
04:18That is now officially my backyard
04:21that I am retaining through this nightmare.
04:25Now, I'm standing in my backyard.
04:27We're getting a totally different view.
04:30You can see that is public on the right side of that line.
04:33And on the left-hand side,
04:35this is my backyard.
04:37And now I'm standing at the far edge of my property
04:39and you can see kind of way back over there,
04:41the log in the yellow line.
04:43The public will be far away
04:44and hopefully can enjoy the beach in peace.
04:47Well, I enjoy my property in peace.
04:49This is not the only person
04:51who's jumped to the conclusion
04:52that because I've settled with the county,
04:54I must be giving in.
04:55Settling means both parties agree.
04:59I agree to something that makes me happy.
05:03It's my choice.
05:04And having it be my choice
05:06with what I do with my property,
05:08isn't that what the whole thing's about?
05:10Unfortunately, the drama doesn't end here.
05:13So apparently people aren't done
05:15acting like total fools in public.
05:17And you know I got video.
05:20Now for some context setting,
05:22my fiance was basically telling a member of the public
05:24who had wandered onto our property
05:25through the creek,
05:26because in Colorado,
05:27you can own the land underneath the water,
05:29that they were on private property.
05:31Hey, buddy.
05:33Hey, buddy.
05:35You're on the wrong side of that line.
05:40Just a foot or two.
05:41That's when some random woman decides
05:43she's going to make this her issue.
05:45And like they always are,
05:46she's confidently incorrect
05:48about absolutely everything.
05:50Colorado Star State's lost.
05:54Excuse me?
05:57Yeah?
05:57She received 250K for the land.
06:06That's right.
06:07No more court.
06:08In fact, on Friday,
06:10the same day that the announcement went out,
06:11we met with the judge.
06:13And the trial has been officially vacated.
06:17And the entire lawsuit will be dismissed
06:19as soon as all matters of the settlement agreement
06:21are executed.
06:23Pretty cool, huh?
06:25What a wild story.
06:26And to think she's been at war
06:28with her town over this
06:29for over a year now, too.
06:31Not going to lie,
06:32if people were using my backyard
06:33as their own,
06:34I would be just as fuming as she is.
06:36Just imagine,
06:37you're trying to have a cup of coffee
06:39and there's someone outside filming
06:40and trying to antagonize you.
06:42Props to her for keeping her cool.
06:44Now, as you can imagine,
06:45comments on the original video
06:46were completely rooting for her.
06:48One said,
06:49so glad you can reclaim your space,
06:51not just physically,
06:52and get back to living
06:53with some clear boundaries.
06:55One another added,
06:55all that matters is that you are happy
06:57and received a decent amount of compensation.
07:00Now,
07:00onto those deceitful previous owners.
07:03What do you think about her boundary war, though?
07:05Let us know down in the comments below.
07:07And as always,
07:07thank you for watching IGV.
