00:00The Bureau of Internal Revenue has temporarily suspended letters of authority, mission orders, and other documents related to field audits.

00:08This is in light of alleged corruption issues.

00:11In a joint announcement by Finance Secretary Frederick Goh and BIR Commissioner Charlie Mendoza,

00:17Goh stressed that they will immediately act on the issue to protect the public from abuse.

00:23Following this, the BIR will also implement a comprehensive review of current policies and procedures

00:28for the integrity of the audit process and to ensure taxpayers' rights are protected.

00:34Mendoza also emphasized that they are seriously looking into any complaints of abuse and irregularities

00:40because these have no place in the BIR.
