19:06is estimated to hold 1.5 million dollars in gold but they still need to iron out the details of the

20:52the next morning the guys hit the road early to get their claim up and running as fast as possible
21:01so scott's heading out there with the surveyor now so that we know what part of that land is ours

21:10to go get our excavator and i got to take it 25 miles to the village by our new site
21:18the last time scott and george were in ghana they used three excavators to mine for gold
21:24the only one still working was the 330b but that was 11 months ago
21:29to ensure the guys get off to a good start their claim owner has let george borrow his excavator
21:38driver ushan kumar but george has no clue if the excavator will start after sitting for 11 months
21:46here in ghana machinery left on the side of the road is often stripped of parts

22:25george victor and bouchon now have a 25 mile journey to their ramaso claim

22:33just when things are starting to look up for george and scott
22:40something's in the middle of the road up there looks like a roadblock or something
22:44okay this is an illegal roadblock
22:51victor be careful victor goes to find out why the villagers have blocked the road
22:56the locals have built a makeshift bridge and they are demanding a toll to get across

23:09200 cds is over a hundred dollars just to pass through one small village i'm not paying 200 cds
23:16alone with no authorities in sight victor tries to calm the mom so they can get through the barricade
23:28they're shaking us down for 200 seconds just across this bridge will you please let us cross
23:36but if george doesn't pay up the villagers may take the truck and his excavator to strip them for parts
23:43uh but after two hours of back and forth victor returns with a deal
23:51he has negotiated the locals down from a hundred dollars to less than 20. but the standoff has
23:57pushed george to his breaking point
23:59we had to make 20 about just to get through there it's just so tiring the smaller bridges i feel
24:16by the guys themselves they use that house to build it so it's like nobody's helping them like the
24:23government's not helping them do that so they do it themselves like it's so pissed that i feel like i'm
24:27being taken advantage of you just have to appreciate their effort tell them you understand what they
24:32are saying but you don't have money and just come in that they will do it they will listen to you
24:37but if you want to be arrogant they are more arrogant than you
24:4615 miles up ahead on their new ramaso gold claim scott and mine owner chris have brought in local
24:52surveyor e.k adanza adanza's job on the site is to find the claims boundary post so the guys know where
25:00they can legally bring in their excavator once we know where the boundaries are then we'll have to
25:06sit down and devise a strategy chris owns the mining rights but he has never worked the land after an
25:13hour of searching for posts in the 25 acres of jungle the team is lost i hear pumps going on do you hear that
25:19yeah yeah people drudging the stream here's the whole camp back here look at that chinese camp
25:26probably george and scott's new land is surrounded by a chinese claim we're on a chinese site and i
25:32wouldn't have this camera out i'd put it down the team has stumbled onto chinese land they are
25:38trespassing don't speak chinese and don't have guns you have a guy right here with a shotgun hey he's gonna
25:44fire the gun the team has stopped dead in their tracks on some of the hottest gold mining ground
25:51in ghana surrounded by heavily armed chinese miners i would put that camera away if i were you scott lomo
26:08and team are trying to find the post that marked the boundaries of his new gold claim
26:13he needs to determine what land is his so he can map out a route for the excavator he needs to bring in
26:19but he is lost and is now trespassing on a chinese gold claim we are clearly not on our site not
26:26minding our business we do have a guy here and a guy here both armed looking at us right now i'm
26:32concerned about getting the hell out of here well let's go back around i know the basic direction of where
26:41this this concession is finally after two hours of searching in the jungle the team locates a ramaso
26:54claim marker this is a good sign having the boundaries properly marked gives us some ammunition to say

27:06the ramaso gold claim covers 25 acres of jungle and with its boundaries now clearly marked scott brings
27:13in their 75 000 pound excavator on a narrow three mile dirt track but it's the middle of the rainy season
27:20and everything is flooded there's no driveway onto the claim
27:29thank you just as scott meets george and victor in the village of ramaso
27:33the skies open up further complicating matters
27:46we have the throttle
27:46we're about a quarter mile away from our site just beyond these trees lies millions of dollars of gold
28:02the other one within just a stone's throw of their claim flood waters block their path

28:25i mean there's water right here through this area but i can see high ground on the other side of it
28:31we're like a hundred yards away from our site there's an estimated 1.5 million dollars of gold
28:37on the ramaso claim if they can get it all out george and scott just may be able to climb out of debt
28:44and provide for their families i'm gonna walk through this hopefully you'll be able to just walk
28:49your excavator right on through follow me in if you can get across let's go we'll deal with the rest later
28:54but without an excavator there'll be no gold at all
29:03if the water level reaches the cab scott is sitting in the engine will flood
29:23if they lose their only working excavator their last ditch effort to find gold in ghana will fail
29:33get the excavator up onto the only dry land on their new claim good job dude
29:55he killed it he killed it we had a huge day today i mean just an incredible day i mean i was almost
30:01in tears at one point just because i didn't think we were going to be able to make it and then i was
30:04in tears at the other point because we did but the water all around them has the guys worried if it
30:11goes up a couple more inches the other equipment can't get in and we can't do much with one excavator
30:16so let's just hope and pray that this water goes down and that we can get all the rest of the equipment
30:21in and we can start digging i am excited with that but i there's a big ominous cloud overhead and i'm
30:27i'm hoping that it's not rain
30:40the next morning things go from bad to worse nearly five inches of overnight rain has overwhelmed the
30:47dirt road to the claim but james a local guide knows another way in all right let's go grab a canoe and
30:54head on out it's good to see you thank you for coming the floods open up a different way through
31:04the jungle the biggest worry for us is how far in is this going to go but james's route again brings
31:11them dangerously close to their chinese neighbors this time too close move it move it
31:28we got a little too close for comfort it looks like onto our neighbor's site so
31:32we had to bug out of there uh we're on our way now so we gotta go
31:42scott and george head back to dunquat until the water recedes they can't begin mining the ramaso claim
31:50seven days after arriving in ghana scott and george haven't even seen gold
31:56after all this crap it's just unbelievably frustrating you know i keep thinking about
32:00all the things that have to be accomplished by us you know obviously my never one thoughts the family
32:04you know and how far behind we are already and how we can't even you know take care of things it's
32:09just it's just incredibly frustrating yeah we need to be doing better man you know we've done the math
32:16right how much should we have sent home combined it's like 35 36 hundred bucks that we should have
32:21already sent home just to pay the mortgage just to survive we got to step it up we will
32:29let's just people are counting on us to do you know what we haven't been doing we haven't flipped
32:33on the hustle switch we got to get to do some more hustling i've just got to make sure that we're
32:37prepared to overcome no that's what we're if anyone can do this it's going to be you and i all right

32:56market to start digging themselves out of the hole they have to send money home to utah without a
33:02viable claim they only have one option buy cheap gold off the street to flip for a quick profit
33:09we're trying to go out to some of these local miners directly with cash in hand ready to buy gold
33:14for villagers it can be safer to flip gold for cash in your own village than carrying gold into town
33:21but back alley gold deals are extremely dangerous and often go south we don't know who we're dealing
33:26with and that's the biggest danger of all if their gold's real if they're trying to rob us if they're
33:31trying to set us up listen everything's okay out here in ghana until it's not scott and george head to
33:37aquaboso a remote village full of miners eager to quickly turn their gold into cash so this is aquaboso
33:44we got to make sure that we're hey yeah guys put the camera down camera down got to get that down

34:48but george and scott are attracted unwarned attention
34:53just as the dealer pulls out balls of gold he gets spooked by something on the street

35:13but their gold dealer just got spooked and disappeared george is carrying thousands
35:18in ghanaian currency and needs to find a new dealer fast

37:04in ghana it is worth about 6 400 cds and the dealer demands that price and that's the price not okay

37:32if you come down if you come down to 4 253 cds that's a good deal if he gets his price scott is
37:40looking at a potential profit of 2 200 cds or 1 000 that is if the gold he is buying turns out to be pure
