00:02I'm Sarah and today we are going to be talking about the next mini-series from Shondaland

00:08and Netflix, Inventing Anna.

00:22Now I'm rather disappointed in myself that I had never heard about this story before.

00:27I even put a post on my Facebook asking any of my friends if they knew of this story

00:34and literally like two people replied.

00:36This is crazy.

00:40Inventing Anna tells the story of a girl named Anna Delvey.

00:43She is supposedly an heiress to a fortune in Russia.

00:46She wants to open up her own social club and in order to do so she needs a bajillion dollars.

00:53And what does she do as the ultimate con woman cons so many people out of their money including bankers,

01:04socialites, lawyers,

01:06and people she says are friends.

01:10Like oh hell no!

01:13Y'all this is a true story.

01:15Buckle up.

01:16Her name is Anna Delvey or Anna Sorokin.

01:18No one's short.

01:19She's either a rich German heiress or she's flat broke.

01:22Anna committed real white collar felonies while posing as a socialite in an attempt to steal millions of dollars.

01:28Watching the series and seeing how this woman took advantage of these people,

01:32I actually had my own nightmare about it.

01:34I thought that I was at a fancy hotel.

01:36I thought I was the one having to give my credit card for a $60,000 stay.

01:42The series affected me y'all.

01:45The series stars Julie Garner from Ozark as Anna.

01:49Anna Chumsley, yes of my girl.

01:51As Vivian the reporter who writes the story that this miniseries is based off of.

01:57This miniseries takes you day by day, step by step, through Anna's life.

02:02The whole time it has you guessing along with the reporter if she truly is the heiress she claims to be

02:09or is she just an incredible con woman.

02:12What I really enjoyed is that while Vivian is learning everything about Anna,

02:15the viewer is as well.

02:17So as someone who came into this miniseries completely blind and having no idea,

02:22I found that an amazing tool.

02:24Because every episode is chock full of information.

02:29Every episode is very dense.

02:32So I didn't find myself completely binging it,

02:34maybe more than like one or two episodes at a time,

02:36because it was a lot.

02:39And honestly, by the end of the series, I was kind of over it.

02:43Hi Anna.

02:46I just had some questions.

02:48I have a question.

02:50What's you wearing?

02:51You look poor.

02:52I thought the acting in this series was phenomenal.

02:55I can definitely see a handful of Emmys coming from it, especially for Julia Garner.

02:59If you watch videos of Anna Delvey, because there's plenty.

03:02I am famous.

03:03Anna Chumsley, she is such an incredible actress as well.

03:07The things that this character goes through in order to make the story,

03:10in order to get her reputation back, are hard and difficult.

03:14And Anna as her character goes through them with this level of ease and empathy.

03:20But also you are stressed out watching her do this the whole time.

03:25While this is a nine part miniseries, I really thought it could be four.

03:30And I know that sounds insane.

03:32Every episode is really, really heavy, has so much dense information.

03:36However, towards the end of it, I found it to be a little repetitive.

03:40I found myself not caring because the juicy bulk of it is in the front half of the series.

03:46And then the back half, you're just kind of like, oh, we're doing more fact checking.

03:50Oh, we're going to see if this is real.

03:52Oh, we're finally to the trial.

03:56So yes, while I found the ending of the series to be lackluster,

03:59I do think that everyone should check out this series.

04:01If anything, to watch the masterclass in acting,

04:05to learn about this wild and crazy story,

04:08because there's too many swindlers out there right now.

04:12That Anna Delvey? She's not alone.
