U.S.–Venezuela tensions are spiraling fast after Donald Trump officially labeled President Nicolás Maduro a “terrorist,” opening the door to new sanctions and expanded military authority. With Operation Southern Spear intensifying, U.S. troops, F-35s, B-2 bombers, and warships crowd the Caribbean as Trump reviews strike options. Maduro denies all allegations and boosts defenses with Russian Igla-S missiles. With both nations mobilizing at speed, even a minor spark could ignite a full-scale regional war.

00:00Tensions between the United States and Venezuela are escalating by the day with war clouds looming
00:23large. There are fears now that a full-blown war could erupt any time, especially after U.S. President
00:30Donald Trump has formally designated Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro as a terrorist. A latest
00:39diktat by the U.S. administration designates Maduro and his government allies as members of a foreign
00:46terrorist organization, giving them the label Cartel de las Solas. This designation now allows
00:54Trump to impose fresh sanctions targeting Maduro's personal assets and infrastructure. And the scope
01:01of this formal designation is not just limited to financial assets. Experts point out that it also
01:08allows the Trump administration to expand military operations and even strike inside Venezuelan
01:15territory. This designation comes in addition to the U.S. administration launching Operation
01:21Southern Spear in the Caribbean. The U.S. military has already amassed 16,000 troops, F-35 jets, B-2 bombers,
01:31and more than a dozen warships, including the largest U.S. warship, the USS Gerald Ford, in the
01:38Caribbean. As per reports, President Trump has already been briefed by top officials on a range
01:45of options for military action inside Venezuela, including strikes on military or government
01:52facilities and special operations raids. Trump has said in the recent past that he has
01:58made up his mind on what action to take against Venezuela, without giving out any details.
02:04Venezuelan President Maduro has repeatedly denied any involvement in drug trafficking,
02:10and his government has even denied the existence of the alleged drug cartel, Cartel de las Solas.
02:18Maduro has said that the U.S. military buildup is an attempt to oust him from power under the guise
02:24of anti-drug operations. Venezuela, too, has beefed up its military presence in the region,
02:30with Maduro even boasting 5,000 Russian IGLA-esque missiles to counter the U.S. military. With the
02:39both sides bolstering their military presence, and Trump now formally designating Maduro a terrorist,
02:46tensions are on the boil and an all-out war could erupt even at the slightest spark.
