Transcript
00:00Baby Ranger is such an intense and emotional series.
00:04What was it like releasing the show and having it receive all this acclaim?
00:08Was it cathartic for you, or was it maybe challenging in some ways you didn't expect?
00:12Well, I mean, the whole, I would say, past five months have been pretty overwhelming.
00:16I mean, there's just been so much that's happened, I almost can't believe it.
00:19It's been a whirlwind. I'm still sort of catching my breath.
00:22It's almost hard to sort of encapsulate it into a kind of positive or negative emotion.
00:26It's been a sort of, a whole whirlwind of things.
00:28But yeah, there's been so many positive things that have happened.
00:31I mean, being here is like the stuff of dreams.
00:33Being nominated for Emmys is the stuff of dreams.
00:35And obviously, like the shows have such a positive impact on charities and stuff like that.
00:39Like back in the UK, like abuse charity, referrals are up 80%.
00:43Stalking charities are up 47%.
00:45So, you know, there's been so much positives, so many positives.
00:49But it's been, there's been a lot, you know, there's been a lot happening.
00:52And, you know, and I've had to exercise some real dig deeper times, you know.
00:57But I've loved it.
00:59You know, the response has been unbelievable.
01:01You can't really ask for more.
01:02So, yeah.
01:03Speaking of the response, what sort of messages have you received from viewers who maybe felt seen or represented by the show?
01:09Yeah, that's been one of the most positive things.
01:11I mean, I get a lot of letters and I get a lot of like the fan mail and stuff like that.
01:16And I'm moved to tears sometimes with it.
01:18You know, there's people who have like, after 50 years, you've encouraged me to open up about this.
01:23Or you've encouraged me to speak to my wife or my parents about this.
01:27Or I've come out at this age because of you and the show and all this.
01:30And that stuff's really like moving.
01:32Like I really, you know, I think it has helped a lot of people.
01:35And I think that's like the best, that's the most kind of fulfilling thing.
01:39But, yeah, it's opened up a load of kind of conversations and allowed people to kind of,
01:43because the show really is about trauma.
01:44And a lot of people say it's the stalking show and all this kind of stuff.
01:47And I think that it is the stalking show.
01:49But I think ultimately it's a show that explores trauma.
01:52And I think that people have a lot to say about it.
01:54I think a lot of people struggle with trauma.
01:56And I think that it's opened up a lot of conversations and helped people kind of,
01:59with a bit of understanding around those things.
02:01And so, yeah, I get a lot of very moving and moving letters and writings from people
02:07and interactions in the street and stuff like that, yeah.
02:10Coming up, you have Lions.
02:11What can you tell us about that show?
02:13That's a working title.
02:16But I'm not sure I can say the actual one now.
02:19But, yeah, I'm working on it real hard.
02:23I'm not sure what I'm allowed to say other than what's out there in the press release.
02:26But I really love it.
02:29I'm writing it right now.
02:31I'm working real hard on it.
02:33I'm in between sort of Emmys, press and all this kind of stuff.
02:37I'm working real hard on it.
02:38So, yeah, I'm just really excited.
02:40There's lots to do.
02:41And, yeah, just getting my head down and I'm working on it, yeah.
02:45Will we also see you on screen in that show?
02:47I can't say.
02:48I can't say for sure.
02:50Well, we can't wait to see it.
02:51And one last quick question for you.
02:52Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:53There have been so many headlines about someone who claims she's the real Martha coming out
02:56and suing Netflix.
02:58How surprising was that to you?
02:59Or was that something you thought might happen?
03:01Well, I can't really speak about that because that's part of a wider sort of legal case,
03:04so I can't really speak about that, I'm afraid.
03:06Thank you so much.
03:07Have a great night tonight.
03:11Okay.
