Ice-T Reveals Budget Cuts Reduced His ‘Law & Order: SVU’ Role

Ice-T is cooling folks off about the chatter over his lighter "Law & Order: SVU" screentime ... telling us straight up, it’s not drama -- it’s the budget.

00:00All right, so we got to get into, you know, your show, Law & Order.

00:07That's for you.

00:07You know, I've been watching it for the season, and you've been into the scare.

00:10So we got to ask you, what's going on?

00:13It's just basically business.

00:15They brought Kelly back.

00:17And at the end of the day, they couldn't really keep both of us on full-time, you know, as far as budget-wise.

00:24So they said, okay, ICE, we'll have you come in and out this year,

00:27and that way we can bring everybody who wanted Kelly back.

00:30And we've got new cops and stuff like that.

00:33But I'm not leaving the show.

00:35I'm more concerned with going to season 28.

00:38So this year, they said, ICE, we're going to work you a little less.

00:41Everything was cool with me.

00:43I understood.

00:44I said, you're getting rid of me.

00:45They said, no way.

00:46We can't imagine Law & Order without you.

00:49So I'm more like, I've been on this show for 27 years.

00:52I'm not going to say nothing negative about that show.

00:55They've taken care of me for so long.

00:57So I just want to get to season 28.

00:59So what has happened, though, is given me more time.

01:02So I got a chance to do other projects, other things.

01:05I've worked on music.

01:07So don't worry about me.

01:08Worry about earthquakes.

01:09I'll be okay.

01:10So, you know, I'm a hustler.

01:11You give me some free time, I find a free dime.

01:14You understand what I'm saying?

01:15So I'll be all right.

01:16But I know the fans are upset.

01:18I'm kind of glad the fans are upset because what if I was missing and nobody cared?

01:22That would be something to worry about.

01:24But the fact that the fans wanted to see a little bit more of Finn, that's good.

01:29But I'm going to be sprinkled throughout this season.

01:31Let's just say that.
