00:00It was very sudden and scary. I have MS. I was diagnosed in 2013. And it started just by
00:10numbness and tingling in my hands that spread to my arms and chest and back.
00:19I saw a doctor and they said to come back if it got worse. And then once it started spreading to
00:27my chest and back, I went to a hospital and got an MRI and they started the conversation about MS.
00:36And actually, it got worse to the point of waking up one day and not having the strength to stand up
00:44or walk. And it was completely overwhelming and sudden. I mean, I was an able-bodied person that
00:55could run and play sports and was very physically active. And all of a sudden,
01:04having weakness to the point of being able to move my legs one way, but not another way was like,
01:12was shocking. The ongoing sensory symptoms are like numbness and tingling in my fingers that are
01:18fortunately at a low enough level that is pretty much I'm able to ignore them. It'll kind of flare
01:25up every once in a while with hot weather or cold weather or alcohol or stress or lack of sleep.
01:31You know, those are all things that I try to stay on top of. And I'm sure a lot of other people like that
01:40have MS can relate to that. I try to stay grateful for all the things that I do have and that all of
01:48these gifts I have, whether it's my family or friends or abilities.
01:55And, you know, there's always something horrible that could happen to you in the future. Like,
02:06you know, I could get hit by a bus just as much as I could have a relapse. So why should I
02:14let my life be controlled? I have a goal for me in this video and kind of being public about this is to
02:21be a lot more engaged in the community and be of service and more of a public facing way.
