00:00Here are today's top stories. First, Nick Cannon is apologizing after receiving criticism for using
00:04anti-Semitic language in a recent podcast episode. THR's Neha Joy has more.
00:10Cannon posted the message on Twitter on Wednesday, writing,
00:12First and foremost, I extend my deepest and most sincere apologies to my Jewish sisters and
00:17brothers for the hurtful and divisive words that came out of my mouth during my interview with
00:21Richard Griffin. They reinforce the worst stereotypes of a proud and magnificent people,
00:26and I feel ashamed of the uninformed and naive place that these words came from.
00:30The video of this interview has since been removed. The artist was dropped by ViacomCBS earlier this
00:35week after the podcast surfaced and received wide visibility. However, Cannon will remain as host of
00:41Fox's hit, The Masked Singer. The network said Wednesday night, when we were made aware of
00:45Nick Cannon's interview with Richard Griffin on YouTube, we immediately began a dialogue with
00:49Nick. He is clear and remorseful that his words were wrong and lacked both understanding and
00:54context and inadvertently promoted hate. This was important for us to observe. Nick has sincerely
01:00apologized and quickly taken steps to educate himself and make amends. On that basis, and given
01:05a belief that this moment calls for dialogue, we will move forward with Nick and help him advance
01:10this important conversation broadly. Next, Captain America himself, Chris Evans, was so moved by the
01:15story of a boy saving his younger sister from a dog attack, the Marvel actor reached out with a
01:20message and a special gift. On Sunday, the aunt of six-year-old Bridger Walker of Cheyenne,
01:24Wyoming, posted on Instagram the story of how the boy saved his sister on July 9th and was horribly
01:29injured in the process. The Captain America actor saw the story and responded, sending this video
01:34message that was shared by the family on Wednesday.
01:37You're a hero. What you did was so brave, so selfless. Evans then revealed he had a special gift for the
01:45young boy from one hero to another. I'm going to track down your address and I'm going to send you
01:49an authentic Captain America shield because pal, you deserve it. And Glee star Heather Morris has
01:55pinned an emotional tribute to her co-star and close friend Naya Rivera, who was declared dead at the age
02:00of 33 on Monday. Naya has more on that story too. Morris, who played Brittany S. Pierce, the love
02:06interest of Rivera Santana Lopez on the Fox musical comedy series, took to Instagram on Wednesday to
02:11detail her close friendship with a late actress, even sharing photos of Rivera's son alongside her
02:16children. We started out as the closest friends and then like all new things, we went through a bit of
02:22a rocky phase. However, we stuck by each other's side and created the most beautiful friendship built out
02:27of love and understanding. The Glee star said that the novel coronavirus prevented
02:30them from spending Easter together, which is a holiday they vowed to spend together every year.
02:35You are and always will be the strongest and most resilient human being I know,
02:39and I vow to carry that with me as I continue to live my life.
