00:00Mel Gibson is denying renewed allegations of anti-Semitic comments leveled against him

00:07In a recent interview with the Sunday Times, the actress claimed that 25 years ago, Gibson

00:11used an anti-Semitic slur in an apparent reference to her Jewish heritage.

00:15She notes in the interview that she was at a party with her good friend when Gibson turned

00:18to them and made a homophobic remark to her friend.

00:21She continued saying,

00:22And then something came up about Jews, and added that's when the actor made the anti-Semitic

00:27remark.

00:28The actress claims that Gibson later tried to apologize to her.

00:31Ryder made a similar accusation in 2010 in an interview with GQ magazine.

00:34However, Gibson's rep spoke to The Hollywood Reporter, saying that Ryder's story is 100%

00:39untrue, saying,

00:40His rep added also she lied about him trying to apologize to her back then.

00:49He did reach out to her many years ago to confront her about her lies, and she refused to address

00:54it with him.

00:55She pushed back Tuesday afternoon on Gibson's denial, and said she stood by her memory of

00:59the interaction.

01:02I believe in redemption and forgiveness and hope that Mr. Gibson has found a healthy way

01:06to deal with his demons, but I am not one of them.

01:09Around 1996, my friend Kevin O'Coin and I were on the receiving end of his hateful

01:13words.

01:14Back in 2006, Gibson had made a number of anti-Semitic remarks while being arrested for drunk driving,

01:29saying in part, Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world.

01:33Although he apologized for the incident, he was essentially blacklisted from Hollywood

01:37for a number of years before re-emerging with a few acting roles in his directorial comeback,

01:412016's Hacksaw Ridge.
