00:00Embattled kids TV producer Dan Schneider is finally speaking out, denying toxic workplace claims on Nickelodeon, which includes sexualizing child actors.
00:09Schneider was a prolific kids TV producer behind several Nickelodeon hits like The Amanda Show and All That,
00:15but has been at the center of allegations of abuse, sexism, racism, and inappropriate behavior involving underage stars and crew members on set,
00:24all of which was recently highlighted in Investigation Discovery's docuseries, Quiet on the Set, The Dark Side of Kids TV.
00:31A spokesperson for Schneider released a statement which read,
00:34Everything that happened on the show's Dan ran was carefully scrutinized by dozens of involved adults and approved by the network.
00:41Had there been any scenes or outfits that were inappropriate in any way, they would have been flagged and blocked by this multi-layered scrutiny.
00:48The spokesperson continued saying the kids TV producer's script secured network approvals.
00:53Remember, all stories, dialogue, costumes, and makeup were fully approved by network executives on two coasts.
01:00A standards and practices group read and ultimately approved every script, and program executives reviewed and approved all episodes.
01:07In addition, every day on every set, there were always parents and caregivers and their friends watching filming and rehearsals.
01:14Schneider's statement comes after the first two episodes of Investigation Discovery's docuseries premiered on Sunday night.
01:20Former Drake and Josh star Drake Bell and other former child actors came forward with allegations in the docuseries,
01:26with Bell sharing his story of alleged abuse at the hands of Brian Peck, his former dialogue coach.
01:32Other allegations leveled at Schneider include that he allegedly tolerated toxic workplace conditions,
01:37and that he allegedly tormented and humiliated the cast and crew on his TV sets.
01:42Working for Dan was like being in an abusive relationship.
