During an appearance on 'The Graham Norton Show,' the former presidential candidate detailed her dilemma, and disappointment, with attending the swearing-in ceremony.

00:00Hillary Clinton revealed she tried to avoid attending President Donald Trump's inauguration.

00:13The former presidential candidate told the story during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show

00:17Friday. She explained that it's tradition for former presidents and first ladies to attend a

00:22presidential inauguration to show support and continuity of our government. But she admitted

00:28that she and former president Bill Clinton hoped others wouldn't go, so they had an excuse to skip

00:33the ceremony. Even though the elder Bushes weren't attending because they were in the hospital,

00:38the younger Bushes and Carters were both going to the inauguration. Clinton said that was the deciding

00:43factor in their dilemma. Bill and I looked at each other and said, well, we gotta go. Although

00:48hesitant to attend, Clinton admitted that she had high hopes for the ceremony, but left disappointed.

00:54What I wanted to have happen was, despite the kind of campaign he ran, I wanted him to rise to the

00:59occasion of being our president and being the president for everybody, not just people who

01:04supported him. That didn't happen. Clinton said she was sitting by George W. Bush and her husband

01:09at the inauguration. And we were listening to this really dark, divisive speech that I describe as

01:14a cry from the white nationalist gut. She also remembers that comment Bush was overheard saying.

01:19It's reported that George W. Bush, as it ends, says that was some weird s**t.

01:26Clinton also talked to the host about Trump's use of Twitter. According to Clinton, the most

01:30dangerous thing the president does on the social media platform is conduct diplomacy there. She gave
