00:00So what does it feel like to have this finally coming out?
00:03I mean, I first auditioned like two years ago, so to be here now, it was kind of funny because,
00:10and I know a few of the other castmates have said this, but when you're there and you're filming,
00:16it felt like just our own little world almost.
00:19And so to know that this is being released to the world is just so amazing and strange for me,
00:27but so, so cool.
00:30What did you think when you first got that audition and kind of heard that this was all happening?
00:35When I saw the audition sent to me by my agent in the email, I said, I am putting my back into this.
00:41I'm putting all my love into this for sure.
00:43And apparently I did, I guess.
00:46I'm here now.
00:49But yeah, it meant everything to me to preserve a lot of the original character
00:55and pay homage to that from the original show while also making a lot of it my own
00:59and bringing my own authenticity to it as well.
01:03How many times did you see the stage show to kind of prepare and get it in your head?
01:07So I watched it when I was younger for the first time, about 12 actually on stage.
01:14And then I did watch it on YouTube.
01:16Hopefully that's not a bad thing to say.
01:18I'm so sorry.
01:19Go see live theater.
01:20This is not me telling you to watch the YouTube version.
01:22Go see live theater.
01:22Please and thank you.
01:24But I had such a short amount of time, not enough time to go and buy tickets to the show
01:29or the funds at the time.
01:32But go see live theater.
01:33That's my answer.
01:34But that was my, in the audition process, I rewatched it on YouTube to refresh my brain
01:39of the story because it had been a while since I had seen it.
01:43You're the first wheelchair user to actually have this role.
01:46I mean, what does that mean to you to be breaking that barrier?
01:48It means so, so much to me to be a representation for so many people out there,
01:55so many disabled people out there.
01:57And to hopefully let them know to advocate for themselves, ask for your accommodations,
02:02never feel like you're asking for too much, and to do your best to follow your dreams.
02:08And, yeah, make other disabled friends along the way because community is also important.
02:13Thank you so much.
02:15Congratulations.
02:16Have fun tonight.
