European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen issued a sharp warning at the G20 Summit, rejecting key elements of the US-backed peace proposal for Ukraine. She insisted that Ukraine’s borders cannot be altered by force and condemned any deal that would force Kyiv to cut its military or surrender territory to Russia. EU officials travelled to Geneva for urgent talks, hoping to pressure Washington to include Europe’s red lines as disagreements deepen over the future of Ukraine and the direction of ongoing negotiations. #EU #ukraine #russia #US #russiaukrainewar #apt
00:00Ukraine has been at the heart of many discussions over the past days.
00:04Any credible and sustainable peace plan should first and foremost stop the killing and end the war while not sowing the seeds for a future conflict.
00:15We have agreed on the main elements necessary for just and lasting peace and Ukraine's sovereignty.
00:23And let me highlight three of them.
00:25First, borders cannot be changed by force.
00:30Second, as a sovereign nation, there cannot be limitations on Ukraine's armed forces that would leave the country vulnerable to future attack and thereby also undermining European security.
00:44Third, the centrality of the European Union in securing peace for Ukraine must be fully reflected.
00:53Ukraine must have the freedom and sovereign right to choose its own destiny.
00:57They have chosen a European destiny.
01:00It starts with the country's reconstruction, its integration into our single market and our defense industrial base, and ultimately joining our union.
01:11We will continue our work together with Ukraine, our member states, the Coalition of the Willing and the United States to make real progress towards peace.
01:22What is important is that we move forward as partners on a single track, and I want to end on a point that is personally important to me.
01:33A crucial element that must be part of any agreement, the return of each and every Ukrainian child abducted by Russia.
01:45Of all the horrors unleashed by Russia's war, none cuts deeper than this.
01:50Tens of thousands of boys and girls remain trapped in Russia, frightened and longing for their loved ones.
01:58We must place these children at the top of the global agenda, and this is why, together with Ukraine and Canada, we will co-host a summit of the international coalition for the return of Ukrainian children.
02:13We will not rest until every single one of them is reunited with their families, in their homes, where they belong.
02:23We will not rest until every single one of them is reunited with their families, in their homes, in their homes, in their homes, in their homes, in their homes, in their homes, in their homes.
