00:00Considered acceptable for all ages.
00:13So here we are, south of McCool, Mississippi.
00:16They call it Four Corners.
00:18Beautiful place.
00:19You know, we can't seem to go wrong with finding the locations.
00:22It's comforting knowing that so many families still hold on to these cabins, cherish them,
00:28and we want to preserve them.
00:31Hey, hey, boy, I think it's time to ring the bell.
00:33Yeah.
00:33It's getting...
00:34It is.
00:34It's that time.
00:35Hey, guys, gather around.
00:38Come on.
00:39Hey, guys, welcome to build number two, McCool, Mississippi.
00:43What a beautiful place, isn't it?
00:45Tell you what's even more beautiful, the family.
00:48This family is amazing.
00:50The gentleman that owned this property just passed away in January.
00:55The last thing he told them, he said, don't ever take out a loan on this.
01:00He says, it's totally paid for.
01:02All you got to do is pay the taxes.
01:04It's here for generations to come.
01:06Right there, Kevin?
01:06That's our mission.
01:07That's our mission.
01:08We want to do things that affect generations.
01:09Tiny towns in the middle of nowhere You never hear about unless you've been there
01:19Little dogs on the big hat Keepin' a train on the track
01:24Carrying the loan on the back
01:27These tiny towns make the world go round
01:32Yeah, these tiny towns
01:36Renovation Hunters is presented by Baird Brothers Fine Hardwoods
01:47Y'all got the schedule I sent out, so it's minimal demo
01:55We can get in there, get started
01:58Carpets, all that stuff has to come out, cleaned up
02:00I want to get paint on the walls today
02:02Alex, I'm going to have you start with Chad and Forever Barnwood
02:06Prepping this to do our Barnwood garage refit, repair
02:12Whatever you want to call it
02:13But it's going to look awesome when we're done
02:14Adam, if you can start that kitchen
02:17Because I know Stone Coat has a ton of work in there
02:19The rest of us will get started on those carpets
02:23Dumpster did not show up
02:25So, you know, we either have a dumpster that doesn't show up
02:27Gets stuck in the mud
02:28Or catches fire, you know
02:31It's always something
02:32But Mike had a good idea
02:34Lays some carpet out back here
02:36Throw everything on top of that
02:38When the dumpster does come, we'll roll it all up
02:40Throw it in there
02:41The house is actually probably one of the best houses we've been in so far
02:48It's brick
02:49The carpets actually are just old
02:52When you rip them out, it's probably going to be solid underneath
02:55I don't foresee seeing a lot of rot and mold
02:59But who knows until you get into it
03:01I mean, you just don't know
03:02But it looks pretty solid
03:04It's still plush for being as old as it is
03:07But it's definitely dated
03:09And it's seen a few lifetimes worth of muddy boots and wear
03:12So we had to get that out
03:14Which involved us getting covered in kind of dry rotting carpet padding
03:18Which is really gross
03:20But not the worst carpet we've seen on Renovation Hunters
03:23This location here
03:26It's a little different than some of the other ones we've done
03:27It's sort of like a grandma house
03:29Pet work converting
03:30There's a lot of cosmetic stuff we're doing
03:32So that means we've really got to make the inside pop
03:34Because otherwise you're just talking square rooms with paint on it
03:36And we need to make sure this man was impressed
03:38You know, one of the unique things of Renovation Hunters
03:49Is the mission that we have
03:50And it's one of the things that attracts so many partners
03:53And another great one is Forever Barnwood
03:57Chad, thanks for coming out, man
03:59Happy to be here
04:00So you have an assortment of things for us on this build
04:04We have some shiplap on the bottom for the ceiling here, Kevin
04:07We got a couple of porch wraps here
04:09We got some trim boards
04:10The box beams for the ceiling
04:11We brought a table
04:13We brought some chairs
04:14We brought a lot of stuff here
04:15These are the shutters for the front windows
04:17We are consistently inconsistent
04:20Which makes our product
04:21That's the beauty of it
04:22We don't want everything to look like it came off of a printing press
04:25But we can duplicate that project
04:28Next year, the year after
04:29Forever
04:30Hence the name Forever Barnwood
04:32I'm going to be gutting the bathroom
04:39Pulling the sink out
04:41Pulling the toilet out
04:42I've got to pull the old tub out
04:45It's cast iron
04:45So I've got to bust it out
04:47I'm going to be putting a new valve in
04:49And pretty much prepping
04:51Putting the shower pan back in
04:52Just getting ready for stone coat
04:55So this old paneling
05:11Old ceiling
05:12You know, this is what?
05:1450 some years of smoke residue
05:16We're just going to prime everything
05:19Get a nice clean color in here
05:20Brighten this place up
05:21So we'll get this good layer of primer down
05:24And then let that dry
05:25Hopefully this afternoon
05:27We'll get some finished coat on the wall
05:28But it's going to take at least two coats of finish
05:31Never give it a bit
05:33Just a week
05:36But while it's on the wall
05:37You know that thisisu
05:42I've got all the way
05:44I've got to bring you
05:46I know that this Personen
05:46I know that this person
05:48Who wants to spend
05:50A bit of money
05:51That semi-fielen
05:52I'm going to come to섯
05:53Stand on the wall
05:54Toon the wall
05:55And then let it open
05:56And let it open
05:56I know you
05:57Who wants to Trevor
05:58And let it open
05:59You'll get a little
06:00Every time
06:00So are we still on target with the original plan in here?
06:12Painting's taking longer on the inside.
06:15This room isn't doing too bad.
06:17We should have doors and everything ready to set to do this epoxy floor from Stone Coat
06:22in here starting Monday.
06:24Okay.
06:25I want to concentrate.
06:26Flooring's coming Tuesday morning, 8 o'clock.
06:29Okay.
06:30I want to be done with at least three of the bedrooms in there.
06:34We're going to do the same thing across the top here.
06:36Same thing across the top here.
06:37And then that whole wall gets barn wood there.
06:39That'd be good.
06:40Door and door.
06:43Two bi-hinged patio doors, 72-inch wide.
06:47And then people can just come and go freely because we're going to have a fire pit right
06:51out there, the grilling area where the trailer's at.
06:54Well, we were going to go with a new fire pit, but there's some sentimental value to Sam's
07:00strong out there.
07:01Okay.
07:02That's an effort they did for a guy that passed away here.
07:03So we're going to leave that.
07:05Okay.
07:06I love what we're seeing here.
07:07So on target, we're on schedule?
07:11Hey, target?
07:12Yeah.
07:13Okay.
07:14Whatever you want me to say.
07:15Hey.
07:16Hey.
07:17Hey.
07:18Hello.
07:19And you are?
07:20Daniel.
07:21Little Camper.
07:22Oh, my God.
07:23So this trip, I got a little tag along.
07:30Some people may call him Little Camper.
07:33Some people may call him Daniel.
07:35I just call him my brother.
07:37Did somebody give you a contract?
07:38Did we agree to this?
07:39Hey, man.
07:40You got two of them on site.
07:41Good to have you on site.
07:42Thank you, sir.
07:43Really appreciate it.
07:44Thank you, sir.
07:45Nose to the grindstone, man.
07:46Anything you can help us with, we'd greatly appreciate it.
07:48Absolutely.
07:49I'll be here for you, sir.
07:50I'll be here.
07:52Once again, I'm so sorry.
07:53When I was younger, I did a lot of framing houses.
07:56Then I started supervising for a contractor for a few years.
07:59I worked for Camper doing remodeling of a lot of his homes that he had built in Florida.
08:05I hope we bring a lot of good smiles and tears to this family.
08:09They definitely deserve it.
08:10It's a generational property.
08:12Hopefully, they will enjoy everything that they do receive.
08:16The only reason we're here is because of my new good buddy, Tyler Hardy.
08:22Tyler Hardy is not a member of this family blood-wise.
08:26But he's ingrained with this family as much as any blood member there is here.
08:31Me and Drew grew up together from playing ball at the park, football.
08:35Went to school together.
08:36Went to college together.
08:37I came hunting with them a lot when I was young.
08:40Once we got to college, as much as we could, we could slip away up here.
08:44I'm Drew Breeland, and this is Bo Harrell Breeland.
08:48He was named after my grandfather, Lanoi Adcock.
08:52He was Harold Lanoi Adcock, and this is his namesake right here.
08:56My dad, Lanoi Adcock, was the owner of the land.
08:59He passed away back in January.
09:01This land has been in our family we have figured out for eight generations.
09:04So I grew up in this area and enjoyed every minute of it, and now my kids come back.
09:10And I love it when my kids come here because they don't have a phone in their hand.
09:15They don't have a tablet in their hand.
09:17They come here to play.
09:18They come here to hunt.
09:19And to me, it's just coming home.
09:21I've been hunting and working on this place since I was big enough to walk.
09:26Deer hunting, squirrel hunting, turkey hunting, rabbits.
09:30Anything that can be hunted, we hunted up here.
09:32I came for Ms. Joanne's breakfast.
09:34The only reason, a lot of times I slept in the truck, Drew went hunting, and I just can't make breakfast.
09:39We call it the deer camp.
09:40Actually, it was my grandmother's house.
09:42They built that house in the 70s, and I remember helping to move them into the house.
09:47Since then, we've had multiple family gatherings there.
09:51We always have a big Easter celebration, fry catfish, bull crawfish.
09:55And in the past, when we've had family gatherings, there's probably been 150 people there.
09:59So it's just we wanted a place that people would feel comfortable coming to, but just a little bit nicer than what we had.
10:05Dad was sick with Parkinson's disease right before he died.
10:08That was sad.
10:09It's very sad since he passed away in January.
10:12So this is something exciting and happy and something for us to focus on and to sort of recognize his and mom's hard work.
10:21They worked so hard to accumulate land and to teach us all the value of land and of having it and of taking care of our resources and using it generationally.
10:31Their focus has always been not for now, but for the future.
10:35Jeff, what you doing with the clothes hanger?
10:51You trying to find a closet?
10:52Witching for water, buddy.
10:54Hey, we got too many holes to drill around here, and there's two abandoned well lines and public water coming in.
11:00We don't want to hit that.
11:02But that's all right.
11:03We got Trent.
11:04Yeah.
11:05No.
11:06We got the plumber.
11:07It works.
11:08We didn't hit any yet.
11:09All right.
11:10So I wasn't around the crew.
11:11Didn't get a chance to ask you.
11:12I wasn't putting the pressure on you, but where are we at?
11:14We're on schedule right now, but you know, we're only first morning of day two.
11:18Yeah.
11:19And we got weather coming in.
11:20That's the thing.
11:21So if we have weather, is everything going inside?
11:24As much as we can get inside, but yeah.
11:26Today was my day to start habitat a little bit, but we're going to have to wait until this impending weather gets off.
11:32Hopefully that doesn't mess us up too bad.
11:34Alex and Chad, they're going to finish up that barn wood in there today, and then we can move everything in.
11:40But we got to have that floor ready for Stone Coat to come in there and seal that.
11:43Have you met our new team member?
11:45I want to, I want to introduce you to him.
11:46Okay.
11:47Pretty good guy.
11:48Let's go take him away.
11:51Hey, Kyle.
11:52Hey, good morning.
11:53I know you flew in late last night.
11:54You have a chance to meet the mad scientist himself.
11:56I have not had the pleasure yet.
11:57This is Kevin, the one and only.
11:58Good to meet you.
11:59Nice to meet you, buddy.
12:00Guy knows his way around a saw and a hammer.
12:02One of the best trim guys I've been told that there is in the state of North Carolina, and he's already found a bear glumbered.
12:08I hear you got him a helper.
12:10I got him a helper.
12:11So, you know.
12:12So he's in charge of him.
12:13He's in charge of Trent, the plumber.
12:15I got stuck with the plumber.
12:17Until our Pfister stuff arrives.
12:19Hot on the left, cold on the right, and we know the rest of that story.
12:23But this is how we roll, man.
12:24I'm sorry.
12:25I know you came in late.
12:26We threw you right in here.
12:27But enjoy the storm.
12:28We're going to go inside and see what's happening in there.
12:30You got to get to work.
12:31Yeah, this build here, it's a little bit of everything.
12:34We're adding some new construction outside, a lot of remodeling inside.
12:37I've done pretty much both my whole life since I was in high school.
12:41So this is right in my wheelhouse, a little bit of everything, so I can kind of help out wherever I'm needed.
12:48Now, when I talked to Tyler, this was his number one complaint and his wife's complaint.
12:53She would not take a bath or a shower in here.
12:55It was pretty rugged.
12:56You think?
12:57Hunting camp special.
12:59But you know what?
13:00We got a new shower base in.
13:02The walls from Stone Coat are going to make this thing just look amazing.
13:06It'd be bright.
13:07It'd make it look bigger even though it's such a small space.
13:09There was plenty of water damage.
13:10We're still working through some of that.
13:12Trenton has the trap installed.
13:14Get that new Pfister valve in there.
13:16And then we'll be ready for Stone Coat.
13:18I sprayed some mold prevention in there behind that to get that.
13:21But now, let's go look at the sponge walls and see what they're doing because I have some concerns here.
13:29Hey, Cam.
13:30Hey, what's up, guys?
13:31Just spraying, huh?
13:32Wrapping up coat number 147.
13:34I'm thinking...
13:35How many gallons, actually?
13:36How many gallons on this little bitty room?
13:39I mean, we're five gallons of room.
13:42In each room?
13:43I think so.
13:44I think we're up to three coats of finish, four coats total.
13:49And that paneling still is not the way I want it.
13:52When are you going to be done painting?
13:54Definitely by next week sometime.
13:56No problem.
13:57Oh, my God.
13:58All right.
13:59Let's go, Tim.
14:00It's a minor glitch, but it is a timely glitch.
14:02Maybe coats five and six will work.
14:05Hey, we'll use 30 gallons of paint here.
14:08Or more.
14:09Oh, I have 30 gallons already.
14:11Wow.
14:12We have flooring crew coming in on Tuesday.
14:15And I got to have these rooms done so that they can get their flooring done,
14:19so that we can start doing our final setup.
14:23I'm really excited about what we're doing to the outdoor experience.
14:27And our friends at Simpson Strong Ties provided us with the best tools that we could have
14:33to make this backyard into something special.
14:36And Steph is here doing such a great job laying all this stuff out in order.
14:41This is awesome.
14:42So how are you organizing all this?
14:44Kevin gave me the planner.
14:45Oh, so you have the planner?
14:47Yeah, I'm not just making this up.
14:49Oh, I thought you were just shooting from the hip kind of girl.
14:52So they sent us the list of all the parts we need for each category.
14:56Of the pergola.
14:58And you can design anything you want for your backyard custom right here on this planner.
15:04Yeah, it tells you what to buy and everything.
15:05Anybody can use that.
15:06Even me.
15:07Come on.
15:08All right, guys.
15:09I'm going to leave this in your hand.
15:10All right.
15:11By the time we throw that M&M grill underneath that pergola top and we make them a custom grilling
15:18area, well, I don't think the people are going to leave here and go home very often.
15:22So when I come and look at these builds, I get an idea of what to do in here.
15:31But I usually have to have a plan B. Well, of course, that's what we've run into with the kitchen already.
15:37But Adam has worked out, I think, all the bugs.
15:40So I'm excited to see what he can do and with Stone Coat countertops coming in.
15:44They have the versatility to change the way we have to change on the fly.
15:49Well, Catherine and I were running to the kitchen trying to figure out what to do here.
15:52And I was supposed to tear out these built-ins that are on the side.
15:56That's a cabin tree that had a cooktop in there.
15:58And we were going to move it to the other side of the kitchen.
16:00When we started trying to rip it out, I was in there for hours.
16:03We could not rip this thing out.
16:05And usually when you touch these things, they just collapse around you.
16:08So we're going to keep it there.
16:09And rather than do a cooktop on the other side of the sink,
16:11we're going to do a coffee bar, whiskey bar, whatever you want to do.
16:14It's an added feature, and it's a happy accident.
16:20Hey, Kev.
16:21Yeah, look.
16:22Got an idea here.
16:23So a little camper and I were talking.
16:25We're trying to get this adhesive off.
16:27They'd sprayed all that over here for the cover on here.
16:30I mean, it's just not going to come off.
16:32So if we do some of the, like the Stamp 10, like the metal backsplash,
16:36we can just cut it, slab it on, and be good to go here.
16:39Because otherwise, I mean, we've got damage that's coming off,
16:41or it's pulling off, and it's just going to be a pain.
16:43There's no point in painting, like, the walls or anything.
16:45You know what?
16:46They got an old barn out back.
16:48Let's see if they got some old barn metal.
16:50We can do that.
16:51Put it right there.
16:52Bring something up that.
16:53Yeah, yeah, I'm with you.
16:54Okay.
16:55We'll put that up.
16:56No, I think that'll be a nice feature.
16:58Okay.
16:59All right.
17:00Put it on the list.
17:01Call me when you have another problem.
17:02All right.
17:03We'll do.
17:04Tomorrow.
17:05We got a delivery.
17:18Hey, Rob.
17:19Yo, dude.
17:20Can I steal you for a little mission?
17:21Do it.
17:22I got a minute.
17:23Yeah.
17:24Grab some gloves before we go hunting for some metal.
17:25Let's find some snakes.
17:26Oh, I see you didn't ask Camper.
17:27No, Camper's afraid of snakes.
17:28Okay.
17:29For this coffee bar, we're gonna bring in some rustic look here and find some sheet metal.
17:30So there's an old barn back there.
17:31Rob and I are gonna go check it out and see what we can find.
17:32And hopefully we can find some useful stuff back there.
17:33This top piece right here is probably going on.
17:34Grab that little piece underneath there, too.
17:35Grab that little piece underneath there, too.
17:36That's a nice one.
17:37This guy?
17:38Yeah.
17:39This guy?
17:40Yeah.
17:41All right.
17:42All right.
17:43Let's find some snakes.
17:44Let's find some snakes.
17:45Oh, I see you didn't ask Camper.
17:46No, Camper's afraid of snakes.
17:47Okay.
17:48For this coffee bar, we're gonna bring in some rustic look here and find some sheet metal.
17:49So there's an old barn back there.
17:50Rob and I are gonna go check it out and see what we can find.
17:51And hopefully we can find some useful stuff back there.
17:53This top piece right here is probably going on.
17:56Grab that little piece underneath there, too.
18:02That's a nice one.
18:03This guy?
18:04Yeah.
18:05All right.
18:06Now we're gonna hold this stuff back.
18:08I got an idea.
18:09While we're looking at the sheet metal, I look into the barn and I see this little razor
18:15side-by-side.
18:16I wasn't sure if the key was in there or if we could even get this thing started.
18:20Oh, my gosh.
18:21It's a little tight, though.
18:22I'm not fitting in there.
18:24It didn't really fit me.
18:27I was a little big for it.
18:29Adam was too tall, so he couldn't even get in.
18:31But we had a little fun.
18:32Let's try this.
18:33Do you think Hal's gonna fire us?
18:36No, but Kevin might.
18:37Oh, that's true.
18:40We put the sheet metal on top of this side-by-side, and we hauled it up.
18:48And it seemed like a good idea until we got to the top of the hill, and Kevin was standing
18:54there waiting for us.
18:55Hey, boss.
18:56Your truck's in the way.
18:57We got a delivery.
18:58It's not a great fit, but...
18:59It's a good look for the two of you.
19:00I'm glad they're having fun, but...
19:01I don't know what else this week is gonna have in store for us.
19:03Really.
19:04He'll break his leg.
19:05He'll break his leg.
19:06I don't know what else this week is gonna have in store for us.
19:11I don't know what else this week is gonna have in store for us.
19:12Really?
19:13He'll break his leg.
19:14So we're building a pergola on this build, and if you've never heard of one of these
19:44before, they're very popular with designers and wives right now.
19:48Basically, it's a beautiful wood structure that has absolutely no purpose.
19:54There's no shade.
19:55It will not protect you from the rain, but it looks awesome, and it makes your wives happy.
20:01So definitely research how to build one of these.
20:04So we're taking advantage of no rain right now.
20:09Had a little bit early this morning, but we're gonna work on all this exterior stuff.
20:13At least get everything started.
20:15We're actually waiting for paint to dry inside, as crazy as that sounds.
20:19The way things are progressing out here, we might have just about all this structure up.
20:23So we're gonna keep plugging along as long as we don't have any rain falling down on us.
20:2724 and 8.
20:28All right.
20:29Add you in.
20:30Separate from the house, we're building an actual 10 by 12 little shelter roof-type deal
20:36for M&M barbecue.
20:38We're gonna lay down some pavers.
20:39We're gonna smooth it all out.
20:41This way you can go out there and grill and not get soaking wet.
20:44It's just gonna be a cool area.
20:46A fire pit.
20:47Great for the family.
20:49And I'm hoping they invite me back to come hang out with them sometime.
20:53It's gonna be that cool.
20:55It's going real well.
20:56We should be able to get the metal roof on tonight before we close it up because it's
21:02gonna be raining tomorrow.
21:04high school public fame.
21:05Yeah, there's a toilet.
21:06It will be run LV off the table now.
21:07It's going real well.
21:09It's gonna be a big deal.
21:10It's gonna be a big deal.
21:11We could make it little dudes in the room.
21:12So we think this is going real well.
21:13We can really keep going.
21:14We have to keep the floor together.
21:15Up to this district, we see boundaries!
21:16We keep the floor back in the room here.
21:17We don't even have to wait until we might say complications.
21:18Otherwise we have to wait until our new temple,
21:20so we 없eti ما can show up We don't know what much more people are going right now.
21:22Rajah says the name of utilities.
21:25We can use theseلم sä fac ain concerns.
21:26We'll be able to bend our eyesSpace
21:27mano that we should be having back a little rear interior.
