00:01The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
00:05Ahoy there, ladies!
00:08Stars from Britain's best-loved shows are jetting off for a holiday showdown.
00:13Is anyone else nervous? Yeah.
00:15Legends of Corrie, I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here,
00:18Loose Women and The Chase are competing against their fellow castmates.
00:24Hey, no road rage, please.
00:26To prove they can deliver the best holiday adventure.
00:30You like that break a bit, do you want to?
00:32I'm not even pressing the break.
00:33Each famous face...
00:34Can we get back to coronation, please?
00:36O-M-G.
00:37DJ Destroyer!
00:38...will plan their dream day in the sun.
00:41We are Loose Women. Together we can do anything.
00:43And at the end of the week...
00:45They'll vote to decide who will be crowned the greatest escaper.
00:50Are we all thinking, I want to win? Yeah.
00:53Only one of us can be the greatest escaper.
00:56Who is it gonna be?
01:00Along the southern coast of Portugal lies the Algarve.
01:09Famous for its golden beaches, picturesque villages and endless sunshine.
01:14The perfect battleground for this week's celebrities.
01:17Three ex-campmates from I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.
01:21They survive the jungle together.
01:23But can they survive an actual holiday?
01:25The first of those three celebs is queen of the ballroom, Oti Mabusi.
01:30I love travelling. The freedom, the drinks, the naps.
01:35I need a cocktail and the sun. I think my day will win.
01:39I just want to always be the best and do my best every single time.
01:45Hot on her heels is ex-campmate number two.
01:48Radio One breakfast DJ, Dean McCulloch.
01:52I take my holidays very seriously.
01:55I'm definitely the one to plan everything because I love it.
01:58I even love getting up really early in the morning and going to the airport.
02:02Everyone rolls their eyes, but I like it.
02:04Where's your favourite piece you've been on holiday?
02:06Turkey.
02:07Oh, my God, I love Turkey.
02:08I am from Antalya.
02:09Oh, I went to Antalya to get my teeth done.
02:11No.
02:12These are Antalya's finest.
02:13I may not be good at a bushtucker trial, but what I'm really good at is putting together
02:18an award-winning five-star holiday. Just don't stress, everyone. I've got this.
02:27And last to arrive is the legend of the boxing ring, the one and only Barry McGuigan.
02:33I'm hoping to win. I want to put on a really fabulous day.
02:36That they really enjoy.
02:38And I'm also looking forward to revealing my competitive edge as well.
02:4313.9 kilos.
02:45Yes.
02:46Is that good?
02:47Very on the way.
02:48Great.
02:49Hi, Mum.
02:50Hello.
02:51Hi.
02:52Good morning.
02:53Good morning.
02:54Hello.
02:55We're going to get a hurry, mate.
02:57A three-hour flight from the UK, the Algarve stretches across Portugal's southern Atlantic coastline.
03:03Look at this.
03:04Baray.
03:05It's Baray.
03:06It's Baray.
03:07Oh.
03:08Who's got the biggest food? I bet you it's Baray.
03:09Not me.
03:10With your size, everything is bigger than it.
03:12I have absolutely no idea with OT and Dana planning. None whatsoever. To be honest, I'm ready for anything.
03:23I love to throw myself in all the most weirdest situations ever. So whatever you want to throw my way, I'm totally up for it.
03:33I have a funny feeling that we're going to wake up in the morning and Baray's going to be stood at the end of my bed with some boxing gloves.
03:38Right you up. And the fact that he has control of a whole day of this trip, I do worry that it will involve endurance.
03:47Three stars, three dream days, but only one winner.
03:51Cheers.
03:52To get in here in one piece.
03:54Yes.
03:55In one piece is right. Yeah.
03:56So now the crack begins.
03:58I'm really looking forward to this whole experience with you guys.
04:02I hope so.
04:03It's going to be better.
04:04Because I'm with you two, I kind of think at any moment that either Ant and Dak are going to walk in and be like, Dean, it might be.
04:10Yeah.
04:11Yeah.
04:12We're going to have a good time.
04:13We know we are.
04:14I know all this seems quite nice and lovely, but this is a competition.
04:17Yes, we're only in business.
04:18And there can only be one winner.
04:20I'm looking at a world champion boxer here and a two-time Strictly champion.
04:23I'm just going to hold my hands up and say, I would love to win.
04:26And you two, you two could go home, losers.
04:29Well, that's a genuine possibility.
04:31I am prepared to accept that.
04:34No, you're not.
04:35Are you?
04:36Well, not really.
04:37That was a lie.
04:38Yeah.
04:39No.
04:44Oti's the first to show off her perfect day out, and she's getting help from customer helper Gio to turn her ambitious wishlist into a reality.
04:53Everything has been planned.
04:55Adventure, fun, laughter, and a good time.
04:58I think my day will win because I'm giving them variety.
05:02Good morning.
05:03Good morning.
05:04How are you this morning?
05:05Oh, I'm feeling amazing.
05:06Look at the sun, blue sky.
05:08Isn't that beautiful?
05:09I'm so excited about today.
05:10So my first idea is off-road baggies.
05:13Oh, okay.
05:14That's wild.
05:15Yeah.
05:16Unexpected.
05:17It's just that element of just pushing yourself.
05:18Yeah.
05:19And getting on something that you've never got on before.
05:21Yeah, yeah.
05:22And then just going as fast as possible.
05:23Yeah.
05:24Do you have an idea where we can get?
05:25Can you sort them out for me?
05:27Absolutely.
05:28100%.
05:29Do they go fast?
05:30That's what I need to know.
05:31Well, that depends on the driver.
05:33She's told us to bring a change of clothes.
05:36Yes.
05:37It worries me, Barry.
05:38Mmm.
05:39That means we're either getting sweaty or dirty.
05:40And I don't want to do any of that.
05:41Or both.
05:42Or both.
05:43It would be really lovely for us to have lunch somewhere, which is really nice and authentic.
05:48So there's this beautiful little hidden gem where the locals would kind of go, that
05:52sort of thing.
05:53Off the beaten track, if you will.
05:54Yeah.
05:55And I think you're going to really enjoy it.
05:56Do you think she's going to get us dancing?
05:57Of course she is, yeah.
05:58She's got to be.
06:00The boys know that I love to dance.
06:02So I would love to get the boys moving.
06:05So we have this lovely little traditional folk group to kind of give you guys that little
06:10taster.
06:11You'll have a great time.
06:12You grew up in some musical theatre, so that's your thing.
06:15Yeah, listen.
06:16This is very much in my wheelhouse.
06:18Yes.
06:19I love busting a move.
06:20Yeah, yeah.
06:21I'm not sure if I want to do it on holiday.
06:24Do you know what I mean?
06:25I've been very competitive, but also good about today.
06:28I don't think they'll expect the first activity.
06:31I think those things that we're doing with the adventure that will cater very much to
06:35Barry, but the dancing that also cater very much to Dean.
06:38So I'm feeling like if I can get just two ticks from the boys, I have to have this in the
06:44bag, right?
06:46Hello.
06:47Hey, hey, hey.
06:48Morning.
06:49Hi, fam.
06:50Hi.
06:51Whilst Geo puts the finishing touches to Oti's day, the escapers are heading 12 miles north
06:55to the Moorish 12th-century castle at Pedern.
06:59The perfect place for her first surprise.
07:02A bit of sightseeing.
07:04This is one of the castles that is actually on the flag of Portugal.
07:08So I thought that we just come here and we just admire some of the history
07:12and the culture that comes with being in Portugal.
07:15Are you being serious?
07:17No, no, she is, she is.
07:18So we're going to stand here and look at this castle all day.
07:20Shall we?
07:21William.
07:23I'm just joking.
07:24I hate you!
07:26We're riding on... Oh my God!
07:29Oh my God!
07:31Now you're joking.
07:37Well done, you saved it.
07:38You saved it.
07:40Because up until now, this was getting boring.
07:44I love adventure and I love adrenaline.
07:47I love getting myself to a place where I'm like,
07:49this scares the life out of me, but I'm going to do it because it does.
07:53Come on, Barry, how's your driving?
07:56Get ready to eat dust, guys!
07:58Maybe I should have told you before, now I've been disqualified seven times for speeding.
08:02Wow.
08:03No, you haven't!
08:04Yeah.
08:05Oi!
08:10Loser!
08:11Oh, speed ahead!
08:13Come on, Barry!
08:18This is...
08:20Oh!
08:28Huh?
08:28Hey, everybody!
08:32Give him off, everybody!
08:35We're coming for you, Jose!
08:41Move out of the way!
08:43I love speed.
08:49I just love excitement.
08:50Love the risk and the danger.
08:52There was one point where I did fear for my life.
08:54I thought to myself, has Barry McGrigan ever passed his driving test?
08:58Because we were going on a single lane and Barry tried to overtake Voday.
09:01I'm from Portugal at the same side of the road as Oslo, isn't it?
09:10I am!
09:11I don't know!
09:14Come on, Elvis, Barry!
09:15We're on the right, don't worry!
09:21She's leaving us for a duck, Barry!
09:24Oh, no!
09:25Not the bus!
09:26Oh, my God!
09:34New place!
09:35Surnay!
09:36This morning was so much fun.
09:37I mean, look at me.
09:39I'm grey and brown and dirty, but you've got the biggest smile on my face.
09:46I really think that this morning I give them a little bit of a taste of me.
09:50I loved it.
09:52I thought you were going to let me pass.
09:53Barry, this is not the Formula One!
09:56That was 10 out of 10.
09:58I would give that a solid 10 out of 10.
10:00I'd give it 12 out of 10.
10:02Yeah.
10:02That's fantastic.
10:02And I think that the fact that this is only her first activity out of three,
10:07God knows what the rest of the day has.
10:08I mean, we were exhausted.
10:09We're ready for an afternoon nap.
10:13Fresh from her victory, Oti's taking the boys for lunch in the sleepy village of Alta,
10:19famous for its natural springs.
10:21I tell you what, we will not be able to beat that.
10:24Excitement and enthusiasm and fun.
10:26It was fun.
10:27I was great.
10:28But you get very competitive as well.
10:30Where do you think you get it from?
10:32When I was a kid, I was always into sport.
10:34Mm.
10:34Then I got into boxing, bingo.
10:37I knew right away this is going to be something I could be really good at.
10:42You know, wanting to be successful and wanting to be the best at something, like I suppose you did in
10:47dancing, you're dancing.
10:48You have the sort of drive that would have made you the very best.
10:51Yeah, yeah.
10:52It feels good when you work hard and you achieve something.
10:56I believe that part of me comes from my parents, really, because my dad, of course,
11:01we grew up in South Africa and it was really tough.
11:03And being a lawyer, seeing him wake up every morning, really work hard and also defend people.
11:09Yeah.
11:10But then come back home and then continue working.
11:12And that became the culture of the family.
11:14My dad is like, if I'm working hard, you guys have to work hard as well,
11:18because I'm not always going to be around.
11:19Yeah.
11:20And my mom was always about the sports.
11:22I started doing national competitions when I was seven, eight years old.
11:27So I was really young.
11:28And every single sport that we did, my mom was like, if you're going to use your time,
11:33you've got to be the best and you've got to work and you really have to push.
11:38When you're a dancer, like your body is your job.
11:43And it's really difficult because we have to retire so young.
11:47Yeah.
11:48How are you doing?
11:49How are you doing?
11:51This one is salad of octopus.
11:52Great.
11:53And this one is fresh and cold salad.
11:54This one is from Algarve.
11:56Oh yeah.
11:57Enjoy your meal.
11:58Thank you very, very much.
11:59I'm going to have a dig in.
12:01I've never had an octopus salad.
12:03Barry, do you remember how we were in the jungle?
12:05You would finish all my meals.
12:16Unpack then swim or jump right in.
12:19The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
12:26Sunbed snoozing or speedboat cruising?
12:32The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
12:35Three stars from I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here are in the Algarve competing to deliver the best holiday adventure and be crowned the champion Great Escaper.
12:51Today, Oti Mabusi is in charge and she's planned an activity for Dean McCulloch and Barry McGuigan.
12:57She hopes will give her the edge in the competition.
12:59My activities describe exactly who I am.
13:02Very adventurous.
13:04But then the dance.
13:05The dance is quite important.
13:07I think they'll ease it to it and they'll definitely enjoy it.
13:10And they'll be like, yeah, this is more of what we thought you'd do on holiday.
13:13Oh, there we go.
13:17Oh, there we go.
13:20Oh, come on.
13:22Yes!
13:24This is a folk group who actually do traditional dancing that is, like, known from the area.
13:35OK.
13:36And we are going to get involved.
13:38Yes, Barry.
13:39Yes!
13:40Yes, we're going to do some dancing.
13:41Come on, come on.
13:43I really and truly believe that when you go out and see other people's styles of dance,
13:50that's them sharing their history with you.
13:54Dating back to the 19th century, Corradinho is a lively couples dance, born, legend has it,
14:00when a Spanish man tried to win the heart of a local woman with his nifty footwork.
14:05I've never ever in my life done the style of dance.
14:08OK.
14:08I don't, I don't care.
14:10You could pick it up like that.
14:11Yes, I've already picked it up, but that's not the point.
14:12And he's just a dancer.
14:13Yes, and it's just this idiot that's going to look like a clown.
14:21Well done.
14:22Congratulations.
14:23Are you ready to learn?
14:27I'm completely out of my comfort zone, and you know that.
14:31It is, it is not me.
14:34I think he thought we were just coming to observe the dance.
14:36But when the dance teacher turned around and said, no, it's your turn,
14:38I could feel Barry quivering.
14:41You're going to put this arm.
14:43Yeah.
14:45Like this.
14:45OK.
14:46Here.
14:46Yeah.
14:47Yeah, OK.
14:48Now we're going to go middle steps, like this.
14:50Sorry.
14:51Now we're going to run.
14:51Go.
14:53Faster?
14:54Yeah.
14:54Let's go faster.
14:55Faster, faster, faster.
14:57Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, oh my god.
15:00It's good.
15:01We went so fast.
15:02That's it, that's it.
15:04OK, let's do it again.
15:06You are exactly my demographic to teach.
15:10Well, we could win Strictly Berry.
15:12I'm feeling very excited.
15:13I love trying something new when I come on holiday,
15:15and I would never get the chance to do this otherwise.
15:18But it is very, very fast.
15:19And the kids are like five, and they're doing it really well.
15:21Is anyone else nervous?
15:23Yeah.
15:24Yes.
15:24Can we start?
15:25Yes, let's go.
15:28One, two, three.
15:29One, two, three.
15:30One, two, three.
15:32Better.
15:34Switch.
15:35Up.
15:36One, two, three.
15:37One, two, three.
15:39Up the knee.
15:41Now it's just good.
15:42One.
15:43Arm in there.
15:44Yes.
15:44Get it.
15:45Yes.
15:45Fast.
15:46Fast.
15:47Come fast.
15:48Oh my god.
15:49Change.
15:50One, two, three, four.
15:51Two, seven.
15:52One, two, three.
15:53One, two, three.
15:54One, two, three.
15:55Go, run.
16:01What a way to end the day.
16:03I don't know how she's managed this.
16:05Barry and I don't stand a chance for the rest of the week.
16:08Yay.
16:10Good.
16:10Yay.
16:11There you go.
16:12Thank you very much.
16:12Thank you so much.
16:14What would you give us out of ten?
16:15Eight.
16:16Oh.
16:18I can't handle an eight.
16:20Even for me?
16:21No, you're a ten.
16:22You're full ten.
16:23That's my girl.
16:25I loved the dancing and they were all just beautiful people,
16:29the whole lot of them.
16:30But it was great fun and they were very patient teachers.
16:34So yeah, an eventful day and I genuinely really enjoyed it.
16:38The dancing was amazing.
16:39When you see the little kids and they love it so much and then you see how they're guided by the older
16:44generation and you can see how community is supposed to work.
16:48It took me back home to South Africa.
16:51I love the fact that they still do this and it feels really like a community and the reason
16:56why I started dancing in South Africa, we had that apartheid era.
17:01There were no places where little black kids could dance and so my mum formed her own dance school.
17:07We were safe.
17:08We had ambition in that room.
17:10We were focused and we were doing something useful for our future.
17:15And that tonight reminded me of why, you know, I love dance and I stayed in it.
17:21It's just that community.
17:22Yeah.
17:22Well, I found out more about Oti today, stuff we didn't find out in the jungle.
17:27So she grew up in a very difficult time.
17:29Great mum, very competitive, great teacher, patient.
17:34Getting to hear her talk about her family and what led her to where she is today was really,
17:40really special.
17:41She has determination and ambition, but she has such a big heart.
17:46I really hope my day was successful.
17:49I definitely think Barry and Dean enjoyed it and then at the end, big smiles all around.
17:54Barry, good luck tomorrow.
17:57You've got a tough act to follow.
17:58OK.
17:58To bed we go.
17:59Let's rock and roll.
18:11Today, it's Barry's chance to shine and he's confident that his day has all the winning ingredients.
18:17I think I've got a wonderful day planned.
18:20I don't think it, I know it.
18:22For me, I want to give Oti and Dean some escapism.
18:25The thing I like doing most of all is relaxing and enjoying just quiet time.
18:30And it'll be interesting to see what they're like when they chill out.
18:35There's a slight air of trepidation because I don't know what's happening.
18:39And there's something telling me that Barry doesn't know what's happening either.
18:43He's a bit unorganised, I would say, but...
18:47All day yesterday, he thought we were in Spain.
18:52We had to remind Barry last night at the Portuguese folk dance that we were in Portugal.
18:57It's not looking good.
18:58I got a bit of sick from Oti about burning the rice and beans when I was in the jungle.
19:07OK.
19:08So, I would love to cook them something nice, somewhere beautiful.
19:14I'd like to be out on the sea.
19:15We can work a lot with that.
19:16So, what about a luxury boat?
19:19You can go on, you can cook them a meal.
19:21There's a little market near where the boat's going to be.
19:23You can shop around.
19:25Barry, each morning, tries to coax me to go to the gym with him.
19:30He thinks it's a lovely time, but it's just not my idea of a very nice day out.
19:33I'd love to do something physically demanding.
19:37Yeah, OK.
19:38I like all that sort of stuff.
19:40So, what do you recommend?
19:41Cool.
19:42I think kayaking would tick the box.
19:45Perfect.
19:45And if you're having fun, you don't feel like you're working out.
19:48Exactly.
19:48Yeah.
19:48I think we've got something very special planned.
19:51It's both exciting and beautiful.
19:53I'm very much looking forward to seeing what Oti and Dean think about it.
20:00Barry's first activity is just east of the popular resort town of Albafera.
20:05It's meant to be a chilled out treat, but like everything Barry does,
20:08it involves a bit of a workout.
20:11Look at this.
20:12We're here at this spectacular looking beach and I'm going to bring them kayaking and we're going
20:18to go around the cove and it's going to be tough, but it's going to be beautiful.
20:22Where are we going?
20:23We are going to poodle along the coast and look at the spectacular views.
20:27The thing about professional boxing is it's a game of dropping weights and watching what you have
20:32to eat.
20:32And after years and years of that, I've always kept myself in shape and I love kayaking.
20:37It's a really good workout.
20:39So I hope they enjoy it.
20:40I know I will.
20:41I hope they will too.
20:42We don't try and race or anything.
20:44It's just, it's just a bit of fun.
20:45Why don't I believe that?
20:47He didn't get to overtake it yesterday.
20:49So this might be ding ding run two.
20:50No, no, it's not ding ding run two.
20:52We just want you to be safe and enjoy it.
20:54That'd be fine.
20:55As long as we overtake you, that'd be absolutely fine.
20:57If you overtake me, you've had it.
21:00This too, the orange one and the yellow one are your kayaks.
21:03Great.
21:03Like the Portugal flag.
21:05It needs the green.
21:08Oh, is the green on the flag?
21:09It's green, yellow, red.
21:11Oh, is that not the Portugal flag?
21:12No, that's just safety.
21:14It's safety, yeah.
21:16Oh, that's .
21:18Flags are not my strong point.
21:19This is Romania.
21:20This activity is 100% Barry's type on paper.
21:25It's active.
21:27You're breaking a sweat.
21:28You're working your upper body.
21:29All of the things that we don't want to do on a holiday.
21:35Bye, guys.
21:36Okay, bye.
21:38Oh, look at that.
21:39Oti, look.
21:40Oh, stunning.
21:44Oh, I love this.
21:48Follow you.
21:48Okay, left, right, cha-cha-cha.
21:52Right, left, cha-cha-cha.
21:56Wait, I feel like we're going in the wrong direction.
21:58Oh, no.
21:59I feel like every time you go opposite to me...
22:01Yeah, we're going the wrong way, yeah.
22:03We've been blown off course.
22:05Yeah.
22:05Are you sitting at home wishing you could fly off to the Algarve like our great escapers?

22:52Spa or pool bar?
22:58The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
23:02Market stalls or cannonballs?
23:08The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
23:12In the deep blue Atlantic waters of the Algarve, former boxer Barry McGuigan is taking ex-jungle mates
23:22Oti Mabusi and Dean McCulloch kayaking in an attempt to win the title of Greatest Escaper.
23:28It's Barry's idea of the perfect day out. His friends? Hmm, not so much.
23:33How do you go in a straight line, Barry?
23:36I just do this. Oti, can you do what I do?
23:39Yeah.
23:39So we can get a wee bit of movement? I'm doing it.
23:43Hey, why are you not rowing? No.
23:44I mean, I've done my years on straight line. I just need this hard work.
23:48My arms are burning. I was hot in the sand. And then I thought, you've got this.
23:53I just hate it so much.
23:56Barry, what's the plan here? Because I fear I've lost my co-pilot.
23:59She's half asleep.
24:01I mean, I know by the looks of things, you want to make your way round to Alicante.
24:03I don't want to go out to the Atlantic Ocean.
24:06I know I can tell.
24:07You're not ready for that?
24:08Yeah.
24:09Let's get back to the base then.
24:10I'll get back, thank you guys.
24:11Okie do.
24:11Are we going to race?
24:13Yeah. You ready?
24:13Yeah, let's do it.
24:14Ready?
24:14Three, two, one, go.
24:16Remember, left, right, left.
24:17Go!
24:20Let's go!
24:21Right. Come on, come on.
24:27We're actually beating him.
24:28Oh my God, we're beating Larry!
24:30I know you're beating him, you're beating me!
24:32Come on, we're beating him!
24:34No, no, we're beating him!
24:37Come on!
24:37No, you're not beating me yet.
24:38Come on, we're beating him!
24:40We're beating him!
24:41Ah!
24:41It's going to be a collision!
24:43No!
24:44Ah!
24:46We beat you there!
24:47Yes, you did.
24:50I had a lovely time, and what I loved even more was beating Barry.
24:54Oh, yes!
24:55I hope they enjoyed it, because, after all, this is a competition, and it's whoever puts
25:05on the best day.
25:06I want to win!
25:12Thank you very much, Barry.
25:13I appreciate it.
25:14You're welcome.
25:14Yeah, it was great.
25:15Thank you, Barry.
25:15It was good fun, thanks.
25:16It was really inspiring to see you literally still going, giving it all the guests you had.
25:22And I can't believe you still have it.
25:23That's amazing.
25:24When you're a fighter, it's with you to the day you die.
25:27The day when I stopped boxing, it was a hard thing to come to terms with, but...
25:31Was it like a loss?
25:32Yeah, fierce loss.
25:34The effort that I put in, and the pain that I suffered to get into shape, was, like, incredible.
25:40For you, when you had those low moments, those tough moments, what were they, and how did you
25:44get over them?
25:45Losing my title in Vegas, just over a year after I'd won the title, and I fought 15 rounds.
25:50What?
25:51Yeah, I fought 15 rounds, yeah.
25:53And I was knocked down in the 15th round from sheer exhaustion.
25:58It wasn't, I wasn't hurt.
25:59I was simply unable to hold my hands up and get out of the way.
26:03So I said, right, that part of my life is finished now.
26:06So I was only champion for a year, and I never regained the title, which was disappointing.
26:11But you have to change and refocus.
26:14That's the way I've lived my life.
26:16I've always been competitive.
26:18I've always wanted to do well at whatever I've done.
26:22Barry really opened up about how hard he pushed himself physically and mentally throughout his
26:27career to get to the success that he has.
26:30It was also really nice to hear Barry talking about grieving the loss of his career and something
26:37I hadn't really thought of before.
26:38So the fact that he shared that with us and was honest and said that it was really difficult
26:42was brave of him.
26:43Yeah, and letting go.
26:48The kayaks were challenging, whereas now we have a very relaxed evening.
26:55We're going to be taking them out on a lovely boat.
26:57They're going to have delicious food with a spectacular panoramic view of the coastline.
27:03I'm here today to buy some fish, and I'm going to do the cooking this evening.
27:07Didn't you make us eat burnt rice and burnt beans?
27:10I did that many times.
27:12Oh, boy.
27:13At home, I'm lazy, so my wife cooks for me, so it's the first time.
27:19I've got a question for you.
27:20Yeah.
27:20Have you ever cooked fish before?
27:22Yes, I have.
27:23It's going to be fabulous.
27:24Yeah, some good fish, a red fish here.
27:26Oh.
27:27Vermeil, catarillo.
27:28Can I hold it?
27:28Yes.
27:29Look at that.
27:30Those are some eyes.
27:31Oh, wow.
27:32It slipped out of my hand.
27:36I'm sorry.
27:37Oh, give him a clean.
27:39Yeah, okay.
27:40Give him a wash.
27:41I'm so sorry.
27:43What is this?
27:44Gal negro.
27:46It's like a chicken.
27:47Gal is like a rooster.
27:48Gal negro would be the one, yeah.
27:50Okay.
27:50Absolutely.
27:51Can you fill it this first?
27:52Yeah.
27:53Of course.
27:53That would be great.
27:54I think they'll be apprehensive about my cooking, no doubt about it.
27:57But, and I'd be a bit nervous about it because I know that they were given out about the
28:02burnt beans and rice, so I want to do a better job today.
28:05I'm scared because he said, Sandra does everything for me.
28:10His wife.
28:10So now I'm like, oh, she's not here.
28:14Maybe in the jungle, he just thought, I'm not going to tell everyone that I'm a really good cook.
28:17Otherwise, they're going to make me the camp chef.
28:19Yeah.
28:20It's all going to come out today.
28:21Wow.
28:22We don't want to eat the fish eye because that's quite triggering for us.
28:25Yeah, you want me to take them out?
28:26No, no, no, no.
28:27Leave them.
28:27You want to eat them?
28:28Leave them in.
28:28I had to eat them.
28:30I had like 14 of them.
28:32I remember now.
28:34Oh, the penny's dropped, has it?
28:39Barry's hoping his last surprise will distract Oti and Dean from his terrible cooking skills
28:45by serving them dinner on a luxury catamaran.
28:49Oh, Barry.
28:49Look at this.
28:50No way.
28:51You cannot say I haven't treated you.
28:53Are we going on this boat?
28:54Yes, sir.
28:55No.
28:56We are going out to sea.
28:58Now, let's get out of here.
29:00Yeah.
29:01Yeah.
29:01Let's go.
29:03Good.
29:04All I imagine myself is just being like.
29:09Oti, you're like a Bond girl.
29:14I love it.
29:16This is so beautiful.
29:18I didn't expect this from Barry.
29:20No.
29:20Go on.
29:23Oh, that was so underwhelming.
29:26I mean, he's slaving away in the kitchen right now.
29:28Yes, he is.
29:28So we are hopeful that this isn't going to turn out like a bush took her time.
29:33Oh, yeah.
29:33So when was the last time you cooked a meal?
29:38Well, not long back.
29:39A couple of weeks.
29:40And what was it?
29:42Baked potatoes.
29:47And beans and grated cheese.
29:49Oh, for the love of God.
29:50That's it.
29:51And did you put it in the microwave?
29:52Of course I did.
29:53Barry's meal of boiled potatoes and fried fish is finally ready to be served.
30:03A big step up from burnt rice and beans.
30:06Right, guys.
30:08Here we are.
30:09This is giving me flashbacks.
30:10Do you know what I mean?
30:11Yes, yes.
30:14Sandra, your wife would be very proud of this dish.
30:17Well, thank you, Dean.
30:18And in fact, I think when she watches this, she's going to make you do more cooking.
30:21Exactly.
30:22That's the problem.
30:24So how did you and Sandra meet?
30:26Well, we couldn't not meet because we lived across the road from one another.
30:29So we grew up with each other, basically.
30:31And how long have you been married?
30:32This is our 44th year.
30:34Wow.
30:35Long time.
30:37I gave Sandy a ring when I was five years old.
30:40When you were five?
30:40Five years old.
30:41I gave her a wedding ring.
30:42She kept it.
30:43Oh, my word.
30:44So there you are.
30:45And I'm still madly in love with her.
30:46And I hope she's still madly in love with me.
30:49It's amazing.
30:50Barry has done well.
30:52The beginning of the day was hell.
30:54I hated it.
30:55But this, the food, everything else, I absolutely loved.
31:00Barry, this has been such a great meal.
31:02Such a great day, actually.
31:05I didn't expect Barry to want to do stuff like this on holiday and to share a sunset with us.
31:11And it seems almost sentimental.
31:13What a perfect way to end an amazing day from Barry.
31:16The food was great.
31:17The crack was great.
31:18The chats were great.
31:19It was brilliant.
31:20This has been one hell of a day.
31:23To finish off out in our catamaran, I think it's going to be a tough task to measure up to.
31:29Dean is the last to plan his day.
31:38And if he wants to win, he's got a hard act to follow after all the quad bikes and kayaks.
31:43My dream holiday soaks up culture, fun, and I love going out and having a good time.
31:49But I think this morning it might be quite nice to kick back and relax a wee bit.
31:53What is the spa culture like in the Algarve?
31:57So I've got the perfect spa in mind for you.
31:59Very natural.
32:00Keep you in touch with your jungle side as well as a trio.
32:03I don't think Barry's ever been to a spa.
32:05In the jungle, he was constantly brushing his hair.
32:08And then his mum gifted him skin care for his skin.
32:11So he's quite a luxurious person.
32:14That might have something to do with it.
32:15Maybe we'll go shopping.
32:17Maybe we'll go shopping.
32:18No, my worst nightmare.
32:20So I love when I go away to be in amongst the trees or on the beach.
32:26So have you heard of razor clam fishing?
32:28No, tell me about it.
32:29Okay, I used to do this actually back when I was a little boy.
32:32It's actually really therapeutic as well.
32:33Is it?
32:34Yeah.
32:34Do you think what he does on holiday is something that you would typically do on holiday?
32:39No.
32:40So he's got his work cut out.
32:41He's got his work cut out.
32:43I think I'm going to have to lump it.
32:45We've not been able to let our hair down together much since we left the jungle.
32:49Yeah.
32:49So I think to end the trip on a high, I need to take Barry and Odie down the strip.
32:54Love it.
32:55Odie's strength is dancing.
32:57Barry's strength is boxing.
33:00My strength is taking holidays from work.
33:03So I think I've got this.
33:08Where does it look like we are, Odie?
33:09It looks like we are in literally the middle of nowhere.
33:12They're actually heading towards the Spanish border and the Castro Marim nature reserve,
33:19where Dean's planning to win over Odie and Barry with a relaxing spa day.
33:23We're here at a salt spa and there is wellness in the air.
33:27Because we've had quite a busy few days and it's time to just kick back, relax and float in the salty water.
33:35Look at this.
33:36Wow.
33:37Today we're going to be pampered.
33:39We're going to be preened.
33:40That's great.
33:41Barry, you're about to get a glow up and you're going to come out of here like a shiny two-pence piece.
33:45I don't need to be any more shiny.
33:47Look at my head.
33:48We need to cover ourselves in the salt, really exfoliate your body.
33:54And then we just float in the water.
33:56This is the part where I wish I had have gone to the gym, Barry.
34:00They used to have rock hard abdominals.
34:03Now, unfortunately, I've got a duvet over the top of them.
34:05You look wonderful.
34:06Oh.
34:07How are we going to be so muddy?
34:09Are we all wet?
34:10Yeah.
34:18Oh, babes.
34:24Oh, yeah.
34:32I'm going on holiday with you forever.
34:36Don't think we've forgotten about you at home, because you could also be in with a chance to win a seven-night holiday to the Algarve, courtesy of Jet 2 Holidays.
34:45We're also throwing in £3,000 spending money, too.
34:48Enter now for free.
34:50Go to the website before 3pm on Friday.
34:52You must be 18 or over.
34:54Good luck.
35:01Hiking or mountain biking?
35:07The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
35:11Beach Funday or Ice Cream Sunday?
35:13Darling, hold my hand.
35:17The Great Escapers, brought to you by Jet 2 Holidays.
35:20After two hectic days in the Algarve, Dean's hoping to find the winning formula by giving his old jungle mates, Oti and Barry, a very different day out.
35:34But he's brought them to a salt spa for his favourite activity, relaxing.
35:40Can I let you both into a secret?
35:41Go on.
35:42So I've kept my jungle outfit in a bag in my bedroom and I've still not washed it.
35:51Yeah, same!
35:52I can't bring myself to put it in the machine.
35:56Every time I'm missing you, I just go and sniff the clothes.
36:00And that pungent smell of cockroaches and fish guts reminds me of you two.
36:05You're welcome.
36:06Just the two of us, only us two.
36:12And now we bake.
36:16Do you remember those feelings that you felt when you left the jungle?
36:22Yeah.
36:24I got out and I was on such a high and I really wish that that's where it ended because I'd been sent quite a
36:33few death threats.
36:34I didn't know you had death threats.
36:37Neither did I.
36:38I've never ever had that.
36:39There was something like 35.
36:4135?
36:42Yeah, there was 35.
36:43I think it's classified now as aggravated malicious contact is the official term for it.
36:50My agent said, look, there are threats to come to your work in the morning.
36:55I was like, for what?
36:57For like saying I'm a celebrity, get me out of here because I didn't want to be trapped in a box.
37:02Like, what have I said?
37:03What have I done?
37:03And they said, I don't think it's what you've done.
37:06I think it's who you are.
37:07Yeah.
37:08And then I realized, oh yeah, homophobia is still rife and there's no getting away from that.
37:16Then I start going over the things in my head that I could have done differently.
37:19But now you're dimming your own lights for other people to satisfy them.
37:24And you can never make anyone happy.
37:27I had the time of my life.
37:29I don't regret a single thing.
37:31Even the screaming.
37:32Yeah.
37:33I was a bit shocked to hear that Dean had death stress.
37:37Whoever threatened him, this just sounds ridiculous.
37:40To actually go out and threaten someone is just unacceptable.
37:44I have to remember that as long as my mum is proud of me,
37:48and my boyfriend is proud of me, that's all that matters.
37:51Yeah.
37:51Because I won't be able to keep everyone happy.
37:53Because if I was everyone's cup of tea, I'd be a mug.
37:55Yeah.
37:57And with this clay on us, I think that could be happening pretty soon.
38:00That could be happening as we speak.
38:07Dean's love of mindfulness and nature is also the inspiration for his next activity.
38:13When I'm on holiday, I like to do things that you wouldn't normally get to do.
38:16I had a little look and a chat with Gio, and he's recommended this spot,
38:20which is very famous for clam fishing.
38:23It's going to be very relaxing.
38:25Okay.
38:25How many times can you say you went on holiday and you fished for clams, Barry?
38:29No, never done it before.
38:31I've never been fishing, and I've never been fishing for clams.
38:34I like my holiday friends to be outside their comfort zone.
38:42Oh, hi there.
38:43This is our friend.
38:44Hey.
38:46My name is Kristina.
38:47How are you?
38:48Welcome.
38:48Good to meet you.
38:49So today I'm going to show you how to catch razor clams.
38:52Okay.
38:53A much sought after delicacy in the Algarve,
38:55razor clams are mollusks that love burrowing into sandy seabeds.
39:00Try and look for holes shape of a number eight, okay?
39:03And then we use a technique with salt.
39:05Oh, I see.
39:06So the razor clam inside doesn't like it?
39:08Yes.
39:08It comes to the surface, you grab it.
39:10Let's play a game.
39:12Okay.
39:12Who can collect the most razor clams in 10 minutes?
39:15All right.
39:16Good.
39:16All right.
39:17Three, two, one.
39:18Go.
39:19Go.
39:20I'm going to get over here.
39:23Oh, here we got it.
39:25Barry's got one, everyone.
39:26Get up, get up, get up, get up, get up.
39:28Get ready to catch it.
39:28Come on.
39:29There you go.
39:30Go on, mate.
39:30Go on.
39:31Go on, Barry.
39:32Go, go, go, go, go.
39:34Oh, no.
39:34No.
39:35He's gone.
39:35He's gone.
39:36The clam came out, saw by McGuigan, and run.
39:41I don't like to get my hands dirty looking for food.
39:44I'm not that girl.
39:45I can't say that Odie's having a ball.
39:47And now my back hurts.
39:49I need physio.
39:50I don't think she's quite appreciated the fact that this is a mindful activity of relaxation.
39:58Are you in there?
39:59All right, please don't start punching the sand, okay?
40:01Exactly.
40:02Grab it, grab it, grab it, grab it, get up.
40:03Yeah.
40:04Yeah.
40:06Here we go.
40:07Yep.
40:09Got it.
40:10Yeah, got that one.
40:12But it will be quite awkward if I set this challenge and I come back for nothing.
40:20Oh, God, they just keep winning clams.
40:25Got another one here, guys.
40:27Coming out.
40:28Oh, my God, I got one.
40:29Really?
40:29I got one.
40:30Guys, here.
40:32Catch it, catch it, catch it, catch it.
40:34And then he's there.
40:35I got one.
40:36I got one.
40:36Yeah.
40:39What is it?
40:39How many have you got?
40:41I've only got two.
40:42Two.
40:43I've got two.
40:46Come on.
40:46The next person to collect the clam wins.
40:50Oh, we just can call it a tie and go eat something.
40:54Are you happy with it being a draw?
40:56No.
40:58Has to be a winner.
41:01Come on.
41:02Oh, here we go.
41:03Yeah.
41:03Yeah, now.
41:04I did it.
41:04I did it.
41:05I did it.
41:05I did it.
41:05Hold.
41:06Yeah, yeah.
41:07Yay!
41:07There you go.
41:10Brilliant.
41:10You're the winner.
41:12I think this has been a roaring success.
41:14I mean, we're all feeling positively relaxed.
41:16I mean, I'm having a ball.
41:17I loved it.
41:18Didn't get enough bites.
41:20Got two.
41:20I couldn't think of anything worse.
41:22And for a girl with big boobs, bending over is not an ideal thing to do on my vacation.
41:29You know, I actually think that I was a fisherman in a past life.
41:32Is that right?
41:33Have I ever told you this?
41:35What are you laughing at?
41:37What?
41:38Why are you laughing?
41:40I just don't see it for you.
41:41What?
41:46It's the final night of the trip, and I've got one more trick up my sleeve.
41:49We have had the most relaxing day, and now it's time to hit the infamous Alba Fear Strip.
41:59For our last activity, I thought I would take you back to a place that I came to exactly
42:1210 years ago, because I came to the Alba Fear Strip, but I can't remember leaving.
42:16Oh, God.
42:17And look, I'm five years sober this year, and I thought that I would show you guys how
42:24you can still have fun in a night out.
42:26In sobriety?
42:27Exactly, Barry.
42:29What made you stop drinking?
42:31Alcoholism is in my family, and there was one Monday I was going to work.
42:37On the way out, I was stepping over bottles that were due to go down to the bin,
42:41and there was a two-litre bottle of vodka, four bottles of wine, and all these tins of gin and tonics.
42:48Never in my life did I ever think I would drink that much, and I knew I had a problem.
42:52And I said to my best mate, I think I'm just going to stop drinking for a month and just see what happens.
42:58And the one month turned into six months, turned into a year.
43:02Having the courage to do that takes an awful lot of effort, so congratulations.
43:06Thank you, mate.
43:07I know you get it.
43:07I know you get it, mate.
43:08And I thought tonight is the night for us to let our hair down, get our dancing shoes on, and party!
43:14We met in the jungle, but we never had a night out, like a night to remember,
43:31and that was something that always made me really sad, and like now with you, I don't know what I expected.
43:37I spend my life in clubs DJing, and that is my new party medicine.
43:46Bring all your friends, I'm DJing, and they're in a bit.
43:48It's exactly how I like to spend my nights out in holiday.
43:51So the only thing I can remember about my night here was the buck and bronco.
43:55You have to get on it for all time's sake. Let's go!
43:58Now, who's got a euro?
43:59To the left, take it back now, yo.
44:03Dean, look! Come on!
44:05Dean, look!
44:06Take it back now, yo.
44:102015 Dean wouldn't actually believe this.
44:14Making friends with Oti and Barry and coming back here to show them
44:17the chaos that I used to be really has felt special.
44:21Come on!
44:22It's brilliant!
44:25It was great to see Dean doing this thing.
44:27He's really good at what he does, and you could see how he gets the audience all worked up.
44:35Sting Dean in his natural habitat was, I think, just unforgettable.
44:41He loves DJing, he loves clubbing, and he's done this all so much.
44:48Shall we have a nightcap?
44:49We have to have a nightcap.
44:50What are we thinking?
44:50Whiskey!
44:52Come on, my tea.
44:52Oti, Barry and Dean have each shared their perfect day out, and now they must decide
45:02who will be crowned the champion Great Escaper.
45:06Each one of your days have been fantastic.
45:08I hope you've enjoyed mine.
45:09Yeah, we did.
45:10So I think we've got to come to the stage now where we've got to make our mind up on who's won.
45:15Oti, your day was pretty amazing.
45:18When you surprised us with these incredible buggies, it was phenomenal.
45:23It's almost like you picked it especially for me.
45:26Barry, I did not know what to expect with your day.
45:28But I loved learning about you, Barry.
45:30I love it when you talk about how much you love your wife.
45:33And we went on the catamaran, and then you cooked, and we didn't die of food poisoning.
45:38And then Dean, the spa was fantastic.
45:45The way you opened up about the jungle, we hadn't realized what you were going through as a friend.
45:51Dino, the night was incredible.
45:54I've seen you in a whole new light.
45:57This is the real Dean McCullough.
45:59I have to think what things I wish I'd bring my family to do, and so I'm going to go with Barry.
46:05Thank you very much Oti.
46:09Of all the things, those fast buggies, that was the thing I really loved.
46:13So, Dino, I'm really sorry, I'm going to go for Oti's day.
46:17Go on Oti.
46:18Thank you Oti.
46:19Well done.
46:20The power is in my hand.
46:21Wow.
46:22It's going to be so hard to call this, but my absolute highlight of this whole entire trip
46:27has to be the three of us on the front of that catamaran watching the sunset.
46:31So, Barry, you are my winner.
46:37Thank you very much.
46:38You really, really was.
46:39And well done you.
46:40Dean and Barry definitely have surprised me.
46:42I mean, there were bits about Dean that I didn't know,
46:46and then just getting to know who Barry was and how he lights up when he talks about his wife.
46:51We have experienced a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity together living in the jungle.
46:55So the fact that we've came here, we've almost debriefed.
46:58I'm actually a bit sad to be leaving.
47:00This has been the best holiday that I have ever been on.
47:03Group hug.
47:04To the greatest game.
47:05Oh, yeah.
47:06Yeah.
47:06Yes.
47:08I'm absolutely thrilled to win this.
47:10And of course, the bottom line is I've learned so much more about Dino and Oti.
47:14And they'll be my friends for the rest of my life.
47:17When you win, you have to buy the drinks at the bar.
47:18That's fine.
47:20I'll see you then.
