NSW Minister for Housing and Homelessness Rose Jackson gives parliament an update on the housing project underway on the site of the former Bega TAFE
Transcript
00:00I'm happy to update the House about another fantastic use of TAFE site, this time in Bega.
00:04So we've gone from Tamworth and let's talk about an update on the Bega TAFE.
00:08One of the first announcements that I made as Minister for Housing was the activation
00:11of the old Bega TAFE for housing and the member there, Michael Holland, was really proactive
00:19in making sure that the relocation of the Bega TAFE did not leave a vacant eyesore on the old site
00:25and it was a great opportunity for us to identify that site.
00:29One of the first that we identified through the land audit for a housing outcome.
00:33Again, a lot of pressure on social housing, in particular in southern New South Wales.
00:38These are communities that were hit by bushfires.
00:40They were hit by COVID sea changes, people wanting to get out of the city
00:46and move to some of our beautiful coastal regions along southern New South Wales.
00:49But that has had an impact on the rental market and that has meant that social housing in particular
00:54has been very squeezed.
00:55So TAFE and Homes New South Wales working together in Bega to deliver social and affordable housing.
01:00That project is on track.
01:01That project is on track.
01:03That project is based on the
01:22release of the name of the number one.
