00:03:13Imagine the payout on that!
00:03:16The drivers, while we were watching the fountain display,
00:03:20were making their way to the podium.
00:03:22Look, it's Vegas, right?
00:03:23So let's have a podium in the middle of the track,
00:03:26and the presentation party are there waiting.
00:03:30It's the third year of the Vegas Grand Prix,
00:03:32and I've seen a bit more spectacle,
00:03:35you know, a few more highlights and razzmatazz.
00:03:38It's a super race to be at, this one.
00:03:41It really is, it just gives us something a little bit different every year.
00:03:45George Russell is mathematically confirmed, by the way,
00:03:48his fourth in the Drivers' Championship,
00:03:50which will tie his career-best season.
00:03:52In terms of podiums and wins, it is his best season in Formula One,
00:03:56and he's our third-place man today.
00:03:58Lando Norris, an 18th podium finish in 22 Grand Prix this season.
00:04:04Not bad for consistency there.
00:04:07And for Max Verstappen, an eighth victory,
00:04:10in the US.
00:04:13And on the anniversary of the Honda Red Bull collaboration,
00:04:19and 150th Grand Prix pairing of those two,
00:04:23he takes the spoils.
00:04:40in the US.
00:04:42So that he's going to get to his house and to his honour of him.
00:04:43And he's going to get to his team.
00:04:45The point of this is what we have been saying.
00:04:47All right.
00:04:49And you are just going to get to the people.
00:04:50And there's no CONCLUSIUM thing here.
00:04:51This is what he can tell God,
00:04:52but he can send you to the people.
00:04:53And there's a very strong sanctuary,
00:04:54and the people that are located in 100,
00:04:56such as the people that are located in the United States.

00:10:51Perspective is what divides us.
00:10:54It could be one person's joy
00:10:55or another person's heartbreak.
00:10:59It defines how you view people.
00:11:03Business is business!
00:11:06Events.
00:11:09Emotion.
00:11:12Another good one to tell me, eh? Come on!
00:11:15And the ever-changing landscape.
00:11:19And on days like this,
00:11:21perspective is everything.
00:11:30Yeah, after some of the rivals faltered yesterday,
00:11:33Manchester City, of course, and Liverpool,
00:11:35Arsenal looking to extend that lead at the top.
00:11:38Leeds against Villa is the first part of the Super Sunday doubleheader.
00:11:42That's from 1 o'clock, 4 o'clock for the North London derby.
00:11:44And then the Monday Night Football from Old Trafford is Manchester United against Everton from 6.30.
00:11:50All of those on Sky Sports Premier League.
00:11:53And lots of other sports as well over the course of the coming week.
00:11:58Saturdays, the NBA continues at 12.30 in the morning.
00:12:02Magic at the 76ers.
00:12:03And then Wednesdays, the Clippers at the Lakers from 4 a.m.
00:12:06And a full programme in the NFL as well across a few channels there.
00:12:13Steelers at the Bears, Vikings against the Packers, Jaguars at the Cardinals.
00:12:17It's the featured game, 9 o'clock, Sky Sports Football.
00:12:21Eagles-Cowboys, I should say, it's the featured game from 9.15 on Sky Sports NFL.
00:12:25And it's the Buccaneers against the Rams in the late game at ten past one.
00:12:31Available now, Wicked, on Sky Cinema and Sky Max for your viewing pleasure.
00:12:37Right, lots to talk about from that race, and we'll do so momentarily.
00:12:43Max Verstappenau with the fastest lap, the DHL fastest lap.
00:12:48And he was dominant of the largest victory ever here in Vegas.
00:12:53His winning margin way ahead of the rest.
00:12:56And as I mentioned, his eighth consecutive podium finish this season.
00:12:59Third longest streak of his career.
00:13:02And in coming P1, he ends the streak of seven consecutive Grand Prix, one from pole position.
00:13:08So, Max on the top step of the podium, but Lando in control of this championship.
00:13:12We'll discuss that next.
00:13:23Welcome back, 125th podium for Max Verstappen, his sixth win of the year.
00:13:28But, all eyes on Lando Norris. He's looking odds-on now for the title.
00:13:32Here's Andrea Stella.
00:13:36Well, Andrea, we've already heard from Lando. He said, not my best day.
00:13:40Not the end of the world, though, championship-wise. He still managed to get P2.
00:13:44Yeah, I think we have to sort of acknowledge that Red Bull and Verstappen today, they were a little bit faster.
00:13:50Obviously, it would have been interesting to see if we were in condition to take the lead at the start
00:13:58and then somehow use the clean air that you have when you get in the lead.
00:14:04But, honestly, Max was faster than us pretty much in all conditions.
00:14:09So, at some stage, we thought that the second place is good enough with the perspective of the championship.
00:14:15Can I ask you specifically about the start? We heard on the team radio feed Lando wasn't particularly happy
00:14:20with what Max was doing on the formation lap. He believed he was hanging back a bit.
00:14:25Did that influence his decision to cut him off so aggressively?
00:14:30Well, good question. You know, instinctively, actually, I thought at the pitfall, like,
00:14:35to tell Will and say, like, tell him to stay calm.
00:14:37We don't know. We don't know if that was an influence or not.
00:14:42He was trying to defend the position, but I think on the inside he found much less grip
00:14:47than what he anticipated, and he went a little bit longer.
00:14:51It's racing. We lost the position. We regained one on track with Russell,
00:14:55but, like I say, I'm not sure we could have kept the lead with the pace that Verstappen exhibited today.
00:15:02Was Lando having to lift and coast for something at the end?
00:15:04Well, the result was safe. We just wanted to be conservative, bring it home,
00:15:11and then we'll play our cards in the last two races.
00:15:14Okay, and Oscar, we have to have a word about him.
00:15:16Maybe he needed to win the race to keep his championship alive.
00:15:20What's your view on that?
00:15:21My view is that mathematics is what counts, so Oscar needs to go into the two final races
00:15:29with the will to win them and take it from there.
00:15:33It's still a very exciting and interesting finale of the season,
00:15:37so Max, Lando, Oscar, everyone will just go on to the next race thinking,
00:15:43we need to win, and then we'll see what happens.
00:15:45Thanks very much, Andre.
00:15:46But it is a very comfortable cushion now for Lando Norris, 30 over his teammate, 42 over Max Verstappen.
00:15:55As I said, if Oscar doesn't outscore him by five points or more or Max by 17 points or more
00:16:00at the end of the sprint weekend in Qatar, it's done. It's dusted. He's nearly there.
00:16:04He sees the finish line now, doesn't he? Like, quite literally.
00:16:08And I think that he's got his eyes on that prize, and of course, we'll ask him lots of questions about it,
00:16:13and he'll be thinking about it, and lots of excitement building,
00:16:16but he needs to just take it one race at a time because a sprint weekend brings big points,
00:16:22and it can very quickly swing the other way.
00:16:25That said, it's a vice-like grip now, isn't it, Andre?
00:16:27It is, it is. It is a great track for Oscar. It has been in the past, but, yeah,
00:16:33so he needs to take five points out of him over the race weekend.
00:16:35That's possible. It'd be nice to see it go to the last race.
00:16:38Yeah, of course. We'd love that. We'd absolutely love that.
00:16:40What about the way that Lando drove today?
00:16:42We're going to go to the skypad in a minute and have a look at it,
00:16:44but the move into turn one, and then as Sam Worthington was saying,
00:16:49he did, he ran out of road, but it's quite an aggressive move across.
00:16:52It was an aggressive move across.
00:16:54It just wasn't controlled very well after the moment of movement,
00:16:58and I think because he was too busy looking in the mirror when he could pull across,
00:17:02he's lost. To judge breaking into turn one becomes very difficult.
00:17:07Very tight line in, and you can see how deep he's gone into turn one when Max pulls back.
00:17:13Right, you knew, you know why he did it, obviously,
00:17:15because that, how often have you seen Max chuck it down the inside?
00:17:19And I think he was thinking, there's no way that's going to happen,
00:17:21because the collision's more likely then,
00:17:22so he cut him off at the pass early to do that, you think?
00:17:25Yeah, he was ahead of him, or he pulled over to that left-hand side
00:17:29way before they were anywhere near the apex,
00:17:31so before Max had got the proper drive out,
00:17:34he made sure that he was the person in front.
00:17:36Max had nowhere to go, because he's not going to take the time to go around him,
00:17:39and he couldn't be level with him in the apex of the corner
00:17:42and run both of them off the road.
00:17:43But he went so far to the left.
00:17:45He was up against the wall.
00:17:46It's like, you only need to go far enough that a car can't go down the inside.
00:17:51But I loved it.
00:17:52Great to see that aggression.
00:17:53Just didn't quite work out for it.
00:17:54Actually, that's what we were talking about there, Genson, beforehand, wasn't it,
00:17:56with regards to perhaps the change in demeanor out there in the wheel-to-wheel racing with Max.
00:18:01You can't be timid.
00:18:02You've got to be aggressive.
00:18:04Yeah, you do, and it's a change for Lando.
00:18:07He's not that driver, do you know what I mean?
00:18:09So, yeah, it didn't execute it quite as well as he had hoped,
00:18:14but it was nice to see still.
00:18:16Shall we head to the Skypad?
00:18:17Anthony is there for us to talk us through a few things.
00:18:21What have you got out up your sleeve?
00:18:24Well, yeah, just more of that McLaren start with Lando.
00:18:26I know you've seen some views of it, but we've got the onboard of Max's view, what he saw.
00:18:31And actually, from this view on the left-hand side,
00:18:35it looks slightly less dramatic than the off-board shot, especially the heli shot.
00:18:39So, yeah, I'll play it on.
00:18:40You'll see how Lando gets the initial jump on Max, that initial clutch phase release.
00:18:45And then once he realises that he's got traction there on the exit
00:18:48after that first phase of the clutch,
00:18:51as soon as he's got that traction, he then immediately starts to pull over.
00:18:56I'll just rewind it because it looks slightly less dramatic from this point of view,
00:19:00from where Max is sitting.
00:19:01But the thing that Max does so well here, despite having a car right in his vision,
00:19:08it's like Jensen said, judging when you're on this dirty line on the inside
00:19:12and a green track at the best of times anyway after that rain yesterday,
00:19:16judging where to brake, you know, you've got that 50-metre board that they've just gone past,
00:19:20they're just coming up to you here on the left-hand side.
00:19:22So that's your only point of reference for the drivers.
00:19:25But when you're sitting so close behind a car like that,
00:19:29judging the braking distance like Max was having to do is incredibly hard.
00:19:33And he would have been smiling as he watched his rival outbrake himself and run off here.
00:19:38But now Max is all eyes on the left-hand side of the track to try and maximize his own traction.
00:19:44And then you go to the rear view shot of Russell going around the outside of Lando.
00:19:49So that was a loss of two positions for Lando.
00:19:52It's so easily done when you're the first to arrive on the scene there.
00:19:55But once again, Max really had a great, just that great sense of where to brake.
00:20:02Looking at Piastri's start, yeah, a little bit more chaotic for him, even more than his teammate.
00:20:08I'm watching what happens for Lawson here.
00:20:11I'm just going to slow it down because in front of him, you've got Russell who locks up.
00:20:14And pretty much as that's happening, I'll just go and show his tyre here.
00:20:19And Lawson does the same thing.
00:20:21So I'll roll that on, you can see the Pirelli logo on the left tyre there, just hardly moving around.
00:20:25So the same thing's happening to the car we're riding on board with that's happening in front of him.
00:20:30Probably off-put by what's going on in Turn 1, everyone finding it hard.
00:20:34And he doesn't know where to go.
00:20:36He simply brake too late, straightens up the steering wheel in a hunt to go down this gap here,
00:20:40potentially that might open up, but it doesn't.
00:20:43He's got Oscar on his right-hand side and the clash is there.
00:20:47Yeah, so that's how Piastri lost a few positions there and Lawson's front wing starts to disintegrate.
00:20:53While we're talking about McLaren, there'll be lots of people wondering what was going on with Lando at the end of the race.
00:20:57Just quickly, this is a normal lap, so lap 38 with Lando, if it ever loads.
00:21:05Here we go.
00:21:05So let's listen to the lift and coast situation into Turn 5 on lap 38.
00:21:15Picks up throttle nicely on the exit, he's still pushing on, six gear, lets the revs run very, very high.
00:21:21And he attacks Turn 7.
00:21:23Now, let's look at what happened on the last lap.
00:21:26So why was he losing all this time?
00:21:28Well, the lift and coast is massive.
00:21:30Listen to this on the run into Turn 5.
00:21:32Just trailing the throttle all the way in, and the same thing here in six.
00:21:46So that's why he was losing so much time on those last two laps where he was massively saving fuel for whatever reason.
00:21:55This lift and coast was huge, so that explains that.
00:21:58Well in control, he knew exactly what he was doing.
00:22:01And we can hear from his teammate, we can't hear from his teammate.
00:22:06Back to the guys, Simon, back to you.
00:22:09Yeah, I mean obviously with regards to Oscar, he gained a place, didn't he, because of Kimi's jumpstart in the five-second penalty.
00:22:16But nevertheless, as we were talking about, it was one he needed to win.
00:22:20Yeah, it was.
00:22:21It was one that he needed to win, but he hasn't.
00:22:24So he's going to log to next week and see what he can do there.
00:22:26I think he minimised the loss, because he also lost a lot of positions at the start, as Ant had shown.
00:22:33And he managed to gain some of those back.
00:22:35So I think he'll not be unhappy with where he finished.
00:22:38Yeah, I agree.
00:22:39He's on the back foot from the word go, wasn't he?
00:22:41He needed to get a good launch.
00:22:42He needed to be attacking from the word go.
00:22:44But he didn't have the opportunity, because he was side-swiped at Turn 1 and pushed wide.
00:22:48So not an easy race for him, and stuck in traffic for a lot of it as well.
00:22:52So yeah, he won't be happy with how it ended up, but a lot of it comes down to what happened yesterday.
00:22:57Yeah, let's hear from him now.
00:23:01Oscar, just talk to me about that start today.
00:23:05What happened?
00:23:08There's not much to say.
00:23:09I mean, I felt like I was one of the only people that actually braked to make the corner and got barged out of the way.
00:23:16And that's fine.
00:23:20So, you know, it is what it is.
00:23:22I think the rest of the race was eventful after that as well.
00:23:25A few too many mistakes.
00:23:27But yeah, from start to finish, just felt like there was some tough moments through the race.
00:23:34I feel like there was good moments of pace.
00:23:36For like, in clean air, we were really quick, but just, yeah, difficult before I got the clean air and difficult after it ran out.
00:23:44You say too many mistakes and things.
00:23:46Just what sort of mistakes?
00:23:48And is it just this track and it's not suiting you?
00:23:51And you don't like driving here maybe as much as other circuits?
00:23:55Just little lock-ups here and there.
00:23:57And that was it, really.
00:23:59But, I mean, you know, it's maybe not my favourite circuit of the year, but, you know, I've got plenty of tracks that aren't my favourites that have been good this year.
00:24:08So, I don't think it's anything to do with that.
00:24:11Just dodging, you know, pretty bad start.
00:24:14Took a while to find the rhythm.
00:24:15And then, yeah, just got stuck behind Antonelli then for a long time as well, which hampered our pace for a lot.
00:24:23It makes, obviously, your championship a little bit harder not being able to get any points today.
00:24:29Where do you see it?
00:24:30We're going to Qatar, which is a track you won the sprint at before.
00:24:34It's a track you know well.
00:24:35Do you have hope that you can cut into Lando's lead there?
00:24:40Hopefully.
00:24:41But, I mean, obviously I need more than that now.
00:24:44So, I'm just going to go into the next two weeks trying to be as prepared as I can, have the best weekends I can.
00:24:50And it would be nice to get some good results on the board to finish the year.
00:24:55But, you know, the championship picture is what it is.
00:24:58So, yeah, we'll see what I can do.
00:25:00All right, thanks.
00:25:02I feel so sorry for him because, as you said, it's been a 64-point turnaround since Zandvoort.
00:25:08And he just must be going through hell at the moment when you can see it falling away.
00:25:12But the way he's carried himself all the way through it, he's never changed his attitude.
00:25:16He's one of the good ones, isn't he, Oscar?
00:25:18And you've just got to hope that if he can't get it done this year, then another chance will come along sooner.
00:25:23Exactly.
00:25:23We can't forget he's not been in the sport very long.
00:25:27In his performances have been amazing at times.
00:25:30The consistency this year has been a little bit off, which was surprising.
00:25:34We thought he was the one that was very level-headed, could take pressure, and it seems to have not worked out for him.
00:25:40So, yeah, he will get his time, I think, to fight for more wins and also for possible world championships in the future.
00:25:47Yeah, I was just going to say we should maybe give a shout-out to the Aussies because this is one of the only races that is at a good time for them on a Sunday middle of the day.
00:25:54They'll have been watching, hoping that Piastri could have got more out of that race and closed that little gap a bit.
00:26:01But, as Jenson said, he started the year so strong.
00:26:03We were so impressed with the changes he made from last year, closed the gap in qualifying, improved the race pace.
00:26:09Everything was coming together.
00:26:11And then he's just had this little blip where the points have started to swing the other way at the time that Lando Norris is maximising everything.
00:26:19And that's just the way it goes.
00:26:21You know, Oskar's a very analytical guy.
00:26:24You know, so is Tom Stallard as race engineer.
00:26:27Regardless of how the race is, the year pans out, they'll go back and they'll look at all of the races that didn't quite go the right way and figure out how they improved the next year.
00:26:35And he will come back stronger.
00:26:37And he's a long future ahead of him.
00:26:39Exactly.
00:26:39They stuffed us in the ashes yesterday as well.
00:26:41So, I mean, there's that to fall back on.
00:26:44Let's hear from Lewis Hamilton.
00:26:46Actually, it's a decent drive to get up to 10th and into the points from where he was in Plum Blast.
00:26:51But I wonder how happy he is with the weekend.
00:26:56Hi, Lewis.
00:26:57To get in the points from the back of the grid is an achievement.
00:27:01What are your feelings standing here right now that there was so much more that could have been got this weekend with different strategies, different communications?
00:27:09How are you feeling standing here now at the end of that race?
00:27:11I feel terrible.
00:27:14Terrible.
00:27:15No, it's been very, it's been the worst season ever.
00:27:22And no matter how I try, how much I try, it keeps going worse.
00:27:28So, yeah.
00:27:31Can I ask what you're trying?
00:27:32I'm trying everything.
00:27:34So, in the car, out of the car?
00:27:35Everything.
00:27:35In and out of the car.
00:27:37Okay.
00:27:38Hope it gets better.
00:27:38Thank you.
00:27:39God, how many times have we seen that?
00:27:42I mean, you know, having been taught, I mean, he's not talked the team down in any way, shape or form there.
00:27:47He's talked himself down this weekend.
00:27:49But I just never see him so deflated.
00:27:52Yeah.
00:27:52You know, and that was a tough, it was always going to be a tough race for P19, let's be honest.
00:27:56But the Ferrari did look strong in the dry yesterday.
00:27:59He had actually a very good first stint on the hard tyre.
00:28:02And, you know, they did that strategy starting on it, ran a very long stint, looked quite good, attempted to undercut Hulkenberg, who the Ferrari should easily be able to have the pace on.
00:28:12And the medium tyre just went from bad to worse from Lewis.
00:28:16You know, the first initial laps in the medium were slow.
00:28:19Hulkenberg protected the undercut, so he's behind again.
00:28:23And then the final stint on the medium, he's dropping from Hulkenberg.
00:28:27So something's gone wrong on that medium stint for Lewis and Ferrari.
00:28:32And that's why he's so deflated, because he's got, you know, Jensen knows, he's got out of the car, not challenging, having a terrible final few laps.
00:28:40So that's his lasting memory of that race.
00:28:42And that was something we need to look at urgently.
00:28:44Yeah, damaged though again, done yesterday.
00:28:46Yeah, it was.
00:28:47But Lewis, I feel Lewis has carried himself really well this year.
00:28:51It's been a very difficult season for someone of his calibre to have difficult races.
00:28:56And he's carried himself so well.
00:28:58And this is the first time I feel that we've really seen him seriously deflated.
00:29:02And it gets to you.
00:29:03You know, mentally it's draining when you have a few bad races.
00:29:07And it felt like it was on the up.
00:29:09And this might be just one bad race, and it might be back for the next run.
00:29:13And I hope so.
00:29:14And he's very good at that.
00:29:16If he has a bad race, he's very good at turning it around at the next one.
00:29:19So it won't weigh on him after this weekend.
00:29:21But it's a tough moment for him and his career right now.
00:29:23Just on the word on the tyres today as well.
00:29:25We didn't see the graining in excess, did we?
00:29:29And most people on a one-stop?
00:29:31Most people on a one-stop.
00:29:32It seemed to be the strategy out there.
00:29:34The medium tyre, I think, lasted much longer in that first stint than anyone expected.
00:29:39I spoke to one of the strategists down at Pittly,
00:29:42and they said there was signs of the graining on the medium.
00:29:44But it just didn't fall away.
00:29:46The degradation was pretty linear.
00:29:48And that allowed them to go, you know, Verstappen did a 50-50 race.
00:29:52Half medium, half hard.
00:29:53So much, much better than last year.
00:29:56Great improvement on the tyres from that side.
00:29:58And that has led to this one-stop race where they didn't need the second half.
00:30:01Case in point, Kimi Antonelli.
00:30:02We'll probably hear from him a little bit later.
00:30:04Charles Leclerc finished just behind Kimi Antonelli in six.
00:30:07Let's hear from him.
00:30:11Charles, P6 from where you started today, is that a good result for you?
00:30:15Do you feel like it would not know?
00:30:17No, it's not a good result.
00:30:18I mean, P6 is very disappointing.
00:30:21On another note, I felt like it was probably the best race of the season
00:30:25in terms of personal performance.
00:30:28I felt like, honestly, all the laps were quality lapsed,
00:30:31and there were many mistakes, so I'm very happy with my own performance,
00:30:36but P6 is very frustrating.
00:30:39Yeah, you were quite down and disheartened yesterday
00:30:41and looking for answers, really.
00:30:44How tough is it?
00:30:45I mean, we saw your moves, we saw your overtakes,
00:30:47we saw how good you were on track,
00:30:48and you're just not able to show it, I guess, right now in this car.
00:30:51Yeah, I struggled because in the straights,
00:30:54we were losing a lot of speed compared to the guys in front,
00:30:57and actually the DRS activation is very late in the straights,
00:30:59so in the very first part, I was losing so much,
00:31:02but then on braking, I knew I could make the difference,
00:31:04so I think I surprised some of our competitors in braking of turn 14,
00:31:11but at the end, when Oscar had the DRS of Kimi,
00:31:16it was then very difficult for me, so, yeah.
00:31:20Still a great drive.
00:31:21Thank you.
00:31:23What are they supposed to say?
00:31:24It takes us back to actually John Elkins' comments, doesn't it?
00:31:27But when you've got a car that isn't competitive,
00:31:29and you can sense the frustration from him as well,
00:31:32there's only so many things you can say.
00:31:34You're not going to come out and say,
00:31:35oh, it's brilliant, I finished sixth.
00:31:37You finished sixth, and he said that.
00:31:38It's not good enough, really.
00:31:39Both Lewis and Charles know that that car should be capable of better than P6 and P10 at a track
00:31:47that we all thought they were going to go brilliant at,
00:31:49and they both, as drivers, are capable of more than that,
00:31:52so they need to try and improve, try and find more pace, obviously,
00:31:59but it is defeating for both of them,
00:32:01and they can't come out and say that's a success.
00:32:04It's not a success for Ferrari.
00:32:05No, but, I mean, Lewis is heading towards his first podium-less season in his entire career.
00:32:11He's not got one.
00:32:12Charlotte's got seven, and you just saw in there,
00:32:14they are now even further down in fourth, 20 points behind Red Bull, I think they were,
00:32:19so it's just one of those things, I suppose,
00:32:21it's the way it's tailed off this season, isn't it?
00:32:24But you're not going to bring upgrades, are you,
00:32:26and everything's towards 2026?
00:32:28Yeah, and I think there's a lot of pressure on everyone within the team right now,
00:32:32and I think that's probably why Charles felt that he had to say,
00:32:37it was one of my best races.
00:32:39So he's saying, I did the best I could,
00:32:43and that, you know, this was one of my best races,
00:32:45but the performance just isn't there.
00:32:47There we are.
00:32:47That is a very deflated Lewis Hamilton making his way out of the pen,
00:32:51and I should imagine hopping straight onto a plane and getting home.
00:32:55OK, we're going to take a short break on the other side of that.
00:32:58We'll continue rounding up everything that's happened here in Vegas
00:33:02with Max Verstappen picking up his eighth win on US soil.
00:33:06Welcome back, George Russell's ninth podium finish of the season.
00:33:28Great drive as well by Kimi Antonelli, who finished in fifth.
00:33:31Let's say a hit for me, but first of all, Toto Wolff.
00:33:34Well, that's a very, very solid result.
00:33:38And wow, Kimi Antonelli, almost, what was it?
00:33:41Almost the whole race on one set of tires?
00:33:43Yeah, and then quickest lap times at the end.
00:33:46I think how he's managed to treat the tires,
00:33:48how he's balanced his driving to kind of make it go quick was really impressive.
00:33:53And George, tell us some of the issues, especially towards the end.
00:33:56We heard various radio messages about steering, but it didn't seem to affect his pace any.
00:34:00No, I think he has the ability to kind of manage to adapt his driving,
00:34:05and the steering got a bit sticky.
00:34:07But we need to look at the tires, whether he damaged them in the initial laps,
00:34:12trying to maybe push Verstappen, which I'm not sure it is the case.
00:34:16Let's see, we need to analyze the data, but I have a thought that maybe we haven't been pushing them enough
00:34:24in order to protect the podium, but again, this is just a theory.
00:34:28Constructors with max winning is looking, it's going to be interesting all the way to Abu Dhabi.
00:34:32Well, I mean, we lost some points, did we?
00:34:34We lost some points against the one-car team.
00:34:37The one-car team.
00:34:37And 25, I think it is, so that's before not enough to say that it is easy.
00:34:45We just need to go to Qatar and to Abu Dhabi and do our best.
00:34:48Thanks, Toto.
00:34:52Kimi, that was a fantastic drive today.
00:34:55Is there any part of you that thinks, oh, if I just got it yesterday, I would be?
00:34:59Yeah, for sure.
00:35:00I mean, obviously, you never know.
00:35:03But the pace was very strong today.
00:35:05This, you know, was very clear.
00:35:09And especially the last ten laps, you know, I was trying to manage
00:35:13because I saw the graining appearing halfway through the race.
00:35:18And I was getting a big concern.
00:35:20And especially when I got the call of Plan B,
00:35:22I knew I would have had to get to the end with the same set.
00:35:26So obviously, I was trying to manage.
00:35:27And obviously, when Oscar, you know, arrived behind in the arrest zone,
00:35:32I had to start pushing.
00:35:35And eventually, the graining started to clean, even though it was still there.
00:35:40But it cleaned up.
00:35:41And the time just kept coming and coming.
00:35:43So super happy that we made it stick.
00:35:45And, yeah, important points for the team.
00:35:48I know you had that penalty for the start, for moving at the start, or so they seem.
00:35:52But doing 48 laps on that one set of tyres, what were they like at the end of the race?
00:35:58Yeah, well, it was not easy because the traction started to be really poor.
00:36:04The front started to give up a little bit.
00:36:06So I had to really work on tools and a bit with the driving to adapt.
00:36:11But it was not easy because traction was starting to be very tricky.
00:36:16And especially at the end, when I started to, you know, to push more and more,
00:36:19it was, tyres started to give up a little bit.
00:36:22So it was not easy.
00:36:23But still, you know, they hold on very well.
00:36:26And, yeah, just glad we made it stick.
00:36:30Voilà.
00:36:30Thank you.
00:36:31Lots to pick up on, but, Bernie, let's get into your field of expertise as a strategist.
00:36:38Do you doff your cap to the Mercedes strategy team and go, ooh, very good?
00:36:42Well, yeah.
00:36:44And the Kimi Antonelli strategy and the Kimi Antonelli drive is super impressive today
00:36:50because I had it in my head that maybe, you know, an effective one-stop on the hard tyre was good.
00:36:57I hadn't had it in my head until I sort of seen what was unfolding,
00:37:00that maybe he might not stop again.
00:37:03And I don't know when Mercedes made that decision to not stop again.
00:37:06But from that point onwards, massively well managed by Kimi.
00:37:10First of all, he was able to hold Piastri and Leclerc back from Russell.
00:37:15Now, at that stage, they didn't know how poor Russell's lap time would become to the end.
00:37:19But they protected Russell.
00:37:21And then just in the last few laps, Kimi had enough in it to push,
00:37:25to open a big enough gap that he didn't lose the position to Leclerc with the five-second penalty.
00:37:30So really, really well managed from him and the entire team.
00:37:35So, yeah, I was really impressed by that as I've seen it unfolding.
00:37:39One of the great pleasures of this job is in watching these guys week in, week out.
00:37:43You get to see them mature.
00:37:45And it's actually happening in front of our eyes, isn't it, with this kid?
00:37:50This kid.
00:37:50Yeah, I mean, for me, the start, it's such a shame.
00:37:54But it is what it is with the regulations.
00:37:56If you move, you get a penalty.
00:37:57But he didn't gain anything from that.
00:37:59He actually lost.
00:37:59He got a really bad start.
00:38:00Yeah.
00:38:02To take that out of it, he was two seconds off the podium.
00:38:05I know.
00:38:06I mean, starting that far back.
00:38:08And the car in front was his teammate, who was taking massive chunks out of.
00:38:12So really impressive.
00:38:13He got in a groove and just was consistent with those lap times.
00:38:17I was 100% thinking they were going to fall off a cliff towards the end.
00:38:21Yeah, but actually, it's one of the skills, though, isn't it?
00:38:24You need that in your armory if you're going to be a great driver.
00:38:27It's not just about out-and-out pace.
00:38:28If you can do that and be as deft as he was on those tires, that's something that you can carry forward.
00:38:32I don't think he was looking after them, though.
00:38:34I think he just pushed them, and they just lasted.
00:38:36They just lasted.
00:38:36You do?
00:38:36Yeah.
00:38:37Okay.
00:38:37I think that sort of matches what Toto said there.
00:38:39Toto said, we need to lock out Russell's stint, where Russell grained the tires and said
00:38:43he didn't think he was going to make them to the end.
00:38:45And Toto's basically said there, I actually think he wasn't pushing enough,
00:38:50that Russell was managing too much to avoid the graining.
00:38:53Temperature drop, maybe.
00:38:53And then he didn't clean up the graining.
00:38:55He never got to a point of cleaning up the graining.
00:38:58And they'll have a look at that, because I think it was, yeah, repressed.
00:39:02Can we also talk about George, though?
00:39:04Because, again, it's just, what was it?
00:39:06Did I say it was the ninth podium he's had this season, and he's only failed to score once.
00:39:10He's only qualified outside the top six once.
00:39:12Again, it's just that word, consistency.
00:39:15He was unhappy yesterday, and he obviously had a problem towards the end as well.
00:39:19I think he was unhappy at the end of the race to finish third.
00:39:22And that's a really good position to be in, to be disappointed with third,
00:39:26because he thought there was more on the table.
00:39:28I don't think the one was on the cards, but the possibility of a second,
00:39:32maybe.
00:39:33But, yeah, I think that just shows how good he is at the moment.
00:39:38He is doing a really good job.
00:39:40Guaranteed to finish fourth in the drivers as well.
00:39:42Yeah, like me and Jensen were just sort of talking off-air before we got to this,
00:39:46that they decided to try and undercut Verstappen,
00:39:49or try and undercut Verstappen protect from Norris.
00:39:52And then he did push a little bit on those earlier laps, too.
00:39:56And they should have maybe thought, Verstappen's not our race.
00:39:59We need to focus a bit more on Norris.
00:40:01And maybe he would have been able to hold on to that position.
00:40:03But very impressive, you know, and like we've discussed so much consistency.
00:40:08That's why he's fourth, you know.
00:40:09That's why he's fourth in this championship,
00:40:11because every week he's been putting in the results and very rarely making mistakes.
00:40:15Exactly.
00:40:16Fourth won't be good enough for him next year, though.
00:40:18We know what he's eyeing up, and that is a first title,
00:40:21particularly if he's great mate.
00:40:23And the man who also had his 150th Grand Prix start, Lando Norris,
00:40:27picks one up this year.
00:40:28So let's go to the Skypad.
00:40:30Anthony's there.
00:40:31Have a look at Kimmy's.
00:40:32This was the jump start, right?
00:40:34Only slight.
00:40:36Ah, it's so slight.
00:40:37It's so slight.
00:40:38But the problem is that it's a digital process.
00:40:40And sometimes we see drivers.
00:40:42Lando Norris springs to mind from Jeddah.
00:40:45Do you remember that one where he,
00:40:47it was very obvious visually that he had jumped the start,
00:40:49but the computer said no that day, and he got away with it?
00:40:52Well, this is the absolute opposite.
00:40:53The computer's detected.
00:40:55They have sensors in these lines,
00:40:57and the computer's detected that there's been movement in the car.
00:41:00And it was such subtle movement.
00:41:02It's such a shame.
00:41:03It's basically, you can see on his dash there
00:41:06how he's holding the revs in just the right place
00:41:09because you've got the red lights on.
00:41:11They're about to disperse.
00:41:15And so he's got the red lights on his steering wheel,
00:41:18holding the revs, and the revs, the vibrations in the car,
00:41:21I believe, without having his foot on the brake,
00:41:23is just enough.
00:41:25And I use the tools here to help.
00:41:26This is how subtle it is.
00:41:28I do my best artistic skills here from the mirror
00:41:30along that yellow line.
00:41:33Nope, I've messed it up.
00:41:35I've got to get it right on that yellow line on the top there.
00:41:38Unfortunately, it's yellow versus yellow,
00:41:40but you'll see where I'm going with this.
00:41:42If I just use the scroll wheel,
00:41:44and you'll see that line that I've just drawn,
00:41:48very slowly, as the red lights are still on,
00:41:51start to separate from the other yellow line.
00:41:54And that is how subtle it was.
00:41:56That's the little bit of movement we're talking about.
00:41:58See, as I go back and forth there with the red lights on,
00:42:02I mean, it's practically nothing,
00:42:04but it is there.
00:42:07So that's what it has picked up.
00:42:08It is so cruel, but there is movement.
00:42:11Another way I can do it is to,
00:42:13if you look at the, not that tool,
00:42:15the magnifying glass tool,
00:42:17if you look at the ribs on the tire,
00:42:19on the inside shoulder,
00:42:20these, I don't know if you can see at home,
00:42:21but these dark lines.
00:42:23And if I just draw an arrow onto one of those lines,
00:42:27and you'll just see on the tire now,
00:42:29as I roll it forward,
00:42:30the same kind of thing happen.
00:42:32It just moves away from that arrowhead.
00:42:35So that you can,
00:42:36you definitely see there is movement,
00:42:38but my goodness, that's,
00:42:40it's definitely not, you know,
00:42:43the rule is the rule,
00:42:44but like Jensen said,
00:42:46he doesn't gain anything from that.
00:42:48And actually, when he does get going,
00:42:49in the start was pretty terrible anyway.
00:42:51Other people are pulling away from him straight away.
00:42:54But what a drive.
00:42:55He likes this type of track.
00:42:57He's a technical driver,
00:42:58fresh out of go-karting pretty much.
00:43:00And he likes the rear of the car floating around a bit.
00:43:04My top and his worth on this
00:43:06is that he likes to rev the engine when he downshifts.
00:43:09He likes to run quite a lot of engine braking as well in the car.
00:43:13And in doing so,
00:43:14in these kind of short, tight corners,
00:43:17with not much downforce on the car,
00:43:18maybe in using a bit more of the rear of the car
00:43:21than perhaps George Russell would have been,
00:43:24that has worked the tyres differently.
00:43:27So it's actually protected the front tyres a bit more
00:43:30because he likes to have the car moving around
00:43:33like a go-kart on the entry to slow-speed corners.
00:43:36Doesn't help him a lot of the time around high-speed corners,
00:43:39but then again he put together a brilliant race in Brazil as well.
00:43:42So it's fantastic to watch this kid
00:43:46getting better and better all the time.
00:43:49And it's only a matter of time
00:43:50before he's consistently right at the sharp end,
00:43:54not getting caught out by the rain from yesterday.
00:43:57That went against him big time,
00:43:59not getting out of Q1.
00:44:01And so it's onwards and upwards for him.
00:44:04And it's great to see.
00:44:05This drive he did today,
00:44:06for me, he was driver of the race.
00:44:08Just to pick up on that, Ant,
00:44:10with the start infringement there,
00:44:11I think that even Kimi Antonelli,
00:44:13there was a lot of discussion on the Mercedes radio.
00:44:15How did that happen?
00:44:17I don't remember.
00:44:18I don't think I moved.
00:44:19But post that Norris infringement,
00:44:22they actually changed the regulation
00:44:23so that any indication of movement,
00:44:25even if the electronic sensor doesn't pick it up,
00:44:28warrants a penalty.
00:44:29And five seconds is the minimum penalty
00:44:31that they can give in the regulation.
00:44:33So they can actually give five seconds,
00:44:35ten seconds or a drive-through.
00:44:36So I think they have looked at the point
00:44:38that it's very, very minor
00:44:40and he didn't gain from it.
00:44:42But because they changed that regulation
00:44:43post-Norris not being penalised for it
00:44:45when it was clearly a jump start,
00:44:47they've had to say they've had to give a penalty.
00:44:51Yeah, you have to give that penalty
00:44:53if the rule changes.
00:44:54But, yeah, people like Kimi
00:44:56will look back retrospectively and say,
00:44:57oh, it's so cruel.
00:44:58I've seen, say, someone like Valtteri Bottas
00:45:01in the past get away from it,
00:45:02around the Red Bull ring, I seem to remember,
00:45:05and the Norris situation as well.
00:45:06But if the rule changes,
00:45:08you have to abide to those rules.
00:45:10And, yeah, just make sure, you know,
00:45:12it's the first time he's been to this track,
00:45:13maybe there's a slight undulation there.
00:45:15He'll never forget to keep his left foot
00:45:18on the brake pedal ever again, I'm sure.
00:45:20It's just another learning curve.
00:45:22Gustav, thanks, Ant.
00:45:23OK, let's get some views from the Red Bull camp.
00:45:25Max Verstappen obviously won it.
00:45:26Yuki Tsunoda finished whopping 86 seconds,
00:45:3087 seconds behind and in 14th position.
00:45:34Let's hear from their boss, Laurent McKees.
00:45:35Well, Max and you, Laurent, your team,
00:45:40did the job you needed to do today.
00:45:42You know what to say, you know,
00:45:43it was another masterclass from Max.
00:45:47Close to perfections also from the team.
00:45:50Honestly, I think everyone back in Midtown McKees
00:45:52should be proud.
00:45:53The car was fast on the weekend
00:45:57where nobody had the time to do proper preparations
00:45:59because FP1, FP2 were somewhat disturbed,
00:46:02FP3 as well.
00:46:03But the car was fast.
00:46:05The tire management was certainly good enough.
00:46:09The execution was very, very strong.
00:46:11So, you know, and you can probably feel
00:46:15that Max probably had some margin at some stage.
00:46:18You know, when he needed to push,
00:46:20he has been able to bring more to the table.
00:46:22So, you know, a big well done to everybody
00:46:23back at the factory and here at the track
00:46:25because it's been, you know,
00:46:27it's a weekend where we have been struggling
00:46:29a lot last year here.
00:46:30It's a weekend that is very different
00:46:33to everything else we find in the seasons
00:46:34with the temperatures, with the track layout.
00:46:37And Max and the team have mastered it
00:46:39and I think they should be proud.
00:46:42Indeed, everyone should.
00:46:43By sending Giampiero Lambiazzi onto the podium,
00:46:45you made sure that Max gave him
00:46:47the biggest champagne shower
00:46:49I think I've ever seen.
00:46:50Their relationship is great.
00:46:52I thought it was crucial that GP reassured Max
00:46:55after Lando's cut across
00:46:57and he said, I think, well done,
00:46:59you kept your head there.
00:47:00Max could see that move coming in a way,
00:47:02don't you think?
00:47:03Yeah, you know, Max is unbeatable
00:47:04in this sort of move
00:47:06and he always gets it right
00:47:07and he did again today.
00:47:10So not a big surprise.
00:47:13But yes, it was, you know,
00:47:14it's always looked easy after all
00:47:16because there were a few critical moments
00:47:18in the race, you know,
00:47:19when George pitied
00:47:20and in the end both us and Lando
00:47:22stayed out on a few other moments.
00:47:24But again, everybody managed it to perfection
00:47:26and very, very happy to see Max
00:47:31and GP for the teams there.
00:47:33Okay, well, we'll see obviously
00:47:34what happens with the Drivers' Championship.
00:47:36He has gained on Lando,
00:47:38but maybe things will get difficult.
00:47:39We'll see how that goes.
00:47:40Just finally, I just want to ask you
00:47:40about the Constructors.
00:47:42It's equal now between you and Mercedes.
00:47:44Both scored 25 points today
00:47:45with them picking up 10 and 5
00:47:50and, sorry, 10 and 15.
00:47:53and you are obviously getting the 25 with Max.
00:47:58Obviously, with Yuki not managing
00:47:59to score points at the moment,
00:48:01how do you see that progressing
00:48:02in your fight with Mercedes for the Constructors?
00:48:03You know, I think for Yuki,
00:48:06we paid the price of what happened yesterday
00:48:08and that's what it is.
00:48:10You know, we take it race by race.
00:48:12That's the reality.
00:48:13We want to nail every weekend
00:48:15as much as we can.
00:48:16Today, we made it.
00:48:18This weekend, that's what matters.
00:48:19A win is a win.
00:48:21And, you know, we leave this race with a win
00:48:24and we will reset
00:48:25and we will prepare Qatar
00:48:26and look at Qatar
00:48:27with that very same objective,
00:48:29extract everything.
00:48:30The points are just the consequence.
00:48:32We don't do anything
00:48:33thinking of the points.
00:48:35Well, the points have certainly helped Max today.
00:48:37Congratulations.
00:48:38Thank you, Laurent.
00:48:41That is the problem, isn't it?
00:48:42And it was a little dig in the ribs from Toto
00:48:44because actually it is advantaged them
00:48:46in the race for second
00:48:47because as Toto caught them,
00:48:49the one-car team.
00:48:51Yeah, it is staggering
00:48:52what Max is doing
00:48:54in a one-car team.
00:48:55Fighting for second
00:48:57in the Constructors' Championship.
00:48:58Amazing.
00:48:58Yeah, it is.
00:48:59But,
00:49:00I suppose as far as Max's future is concerned,
00:49:02it's over to Red Bull power trains
00:49:03for next year
00:49:04because that is going to dictate
00:49:06whether he stays or goes,
00:49:08you should imagine, from Red Bull.
00:49:09Yeah, it is.
00:49:10I think Max is sort of
00:49:11is obviously staying for now
00:49:12and I think he's taken the decision
00:49:13to wait and see
00:49:14how next year goes
00:49:15with that new power train
00:49:16with the big change in regulations.
00:49:19If you listen to all the noise in the paddock,
00:49:21we think that the Red Bull power train
00:49:22isn't there.
00:49:24But noise in the paddock
00:49:25is noise in the paddock.
00:49:26It's not...
00:49:27Nobody's compared them like for like
00:49:29and we won't know
00:49:30until we get to the first race
00:49:32really next year
00:49:33but they need to be working hard
00:49:36on the car
00:49:37which Max has been
00:49:37vocally unhappy with
00:49:39at times this year
00:49:40and the engine for next year
00:49:42in order to retain him
00:49:43and if you take him out of the team,
00:49:46the team is nowhere in the championship.
00:49:49So that's really...
00:49:49But they pulled it back
00:49:50didn't they?
00:49:51They did turn it around
00:49:52because at one point
00:49:52it looked like
00:49:53they were falling off a cliff
00:49:54and then they got a couple of upgrades
00:49:55and they've been able to pick up.
00:49:57It's really impressive.
00:49:58Yeah.
00:49:58Because they were falling back
00:50:00when they were actually
00:50:00pre-summer break.
00:50:03So now it's impressive.
00:50:04They have in high downforce
00:50:06and low downforce tracks
00:50:07picked it up.
00:50:08Absolutely.
00:50:09Right.
00:50:09Okay.
00:50:09There we go.
00:50:09Max Verstappen is your winner
00:50:11this evening here
00:50:12in Las Vegas.
00:50:13His second win
00:50:14at the Las Vegas Strip Circuit
00:50:17and we will wrap everything up
00:50:19from a busy weekend
00:50:21here in Las Vegas
00:50:22in a couple of months.
00:50:23Don't worry.
00:50:24Well, that's Max Verstappen
00:50:39lifting the trophy aloft
00:50:40largest winning margin
00:50:41in Las Vegas Grand Prix history.
00:50:44Over 20 seconds.
00:50:46One, two, three
00:50:46with Lando Norris
00:50:48and George Russell.
00:50:51So let's just run you
00:50:52through the race results
00:50:53and the drivers
00:50:54are constructors.
00:50:55Max Verstappen, there we go.
00:50:56Confirmation of that big victory
00:50:58over Lando Norris
00:50:59but Lando finishing
00:51:00a couple of places
00:51:00ahead of Oscar Piastri
00:51:01means that he's tightened
00:51:03his grip on the championship.
00:51:05George Russell picking up
00:51:06his ninth podium
00:51:07of the season.
00:51:08Kimi Antonelli dropping
00:51:09behind the Australian
00:51:10because of that
00:51:11five-second penalty
00:51:12for jumping the start.
00:51:14Charles Leclerc finishing
00:51:15in six.
00:51:15He was unhappy with that.
00:51:17So too is teammate
00:51:17Lewis Hamilton
00:51:18despite the drive
00:51:19from the back
00:51:20and up into the point.
00:51:21Sainz, Hadjar
00:51:22and Hulkenberg
00:51:23making up the rest
00:51:24of the top ten
00:51:25and there were three DNFs
00:51:27in the form of Alex Albon
00:51:28Gabriel Bortoleto
00:51:30for that slightly funny
00:51:32and aggressive move
00:51:33early on
00:51:33and Lance Stroll
00:51:34who was clipped by that.
00:51:36So the drivers looks like this.
00:51:41Lando's lead over his teammate
00:51:42is 30 points
00:51:44then a further 12 back
00:51:45to Max Verstappen
00:51:46and what that means is
00:51:47that if Oscar doesn't outscore Lando
00:51:50by five points or more
00:51:51or Max Verstappen
00:51:52doesn't outscore Lando
00:51:54by 17 points or more
00:51:56next weekend
00:51:57in the sprint weekend
00:51:58in Qatar
00:51:58then it is done and dusted
00:52:00and Lando
00:52:01will become world champion.
00:52:02George Russell guaranteed
00:52:03finishing in fourth.
00:52:05Another disappointing weekend
00:52:06for the Ferraris
00:52:07but at least they both
00:52:08got into the points
00:52:09this time around.
00:52:10Kimi Antonelli
00:52:11impressed again
00:52:12by making those hard laps
00:52:14last for 48 laps.
00:52:16Albon,
00:52:17Hadjar
00:52:17and Hulkenberg
00:52:19making up the rest
00:52:20of the top ten
00:52:21in the drivers.
00:52:23No points for Oli Behrman
00:52:24just finishing
00:52:24outside of that
00:52:25today.
00:52:26Carlos Sainz
00:52:27slipped from third
00:52:27to seventh
00:52:28and it's four points
00:52:29clear of him.
00:52:34In the constructors
00:52:35we know that McLaren
00:52:36are champions
00:52:37but Mercedes
00:52:37are in second
00:52:3932 ahead
00:52:41of Red Bull
00:52:42with Ferrari
00:52:4320 further back.
00:52:44The Racing Bulls
00:52:45now 14 clear
00:52:46of Aston Martin
00:52:47in sixth.
00:52:50Right, okay
00:52:50let's hear from
00:52:51Isaac Kajar
00:52:52finishing in eighth
00:52:54today.
00:52:57We didn't see much
00:52:58of you on the coverage
00:52:58during that race
00:52:59Isaac
00:53:00because there was
00:53:00so much going on
00:53:01all around
00:53:01so just tell us
00:53:02how you would sum up
00:53:03your race for you
00:53:04today.
00:53:04So boring
00:53:05like honestly
00:53:07we had an
00:53:07awesome
00:53:09first lap
00:53:11but to be fair
00:53:13we were not very fast
00:53:14so yeah
00:53:16from there
00:53:16we kind of fell off
00:53:17and obviously
00:53:18we knew with the top
00:53:19teams going long
00:53:20it would be possible
00:53:21to have a
00:53:22good result
00:53:24but still
00:53:24P8 is nice.
00:53:25Good to get points
00:53:27but I guess
00:53:27no one had any
00:53:28long run
00:53:29what did you see?
00:53:31The race start.
00:53:32Oh are you watching it
00:53:33on the skypad
00:53:33with that?
00:53:35Yeah it was quite
00:53:35aggressive move across
00:53:36and then some
00:53:37strong defending
00:53:38as well.
00:53:40With the lack
00:53:41of race data
00:53:42or the lack
00:53:42of long run data
00:53:43from yesterday
00:53:43did that affect you
00:53:44as well
00:53:44do you think
00:53:45with more information?
00:53:47Yeah I think
00:53:47we as a team
00:53:49we maybe played
00:53:50it a bit conservative
00:53:51we were expecting
00:53:52to have
00:53:52maybe a bit
00:53:54more graining
00:53:54but in the end
00:53:56yeah it was
00:53:58a full push race
00:53:59so yeah
00:54:01it's nice
00:54:02to drive
00:54:03but when there's
00:54:04no fight around
00:54:05it's quite boring.
00:54:06Thanks.
00:54:10Oh there you go
00:54:11summed it up
00:54:12didn't enjoy his evening
00:54:13did he?
00:54:13Maybe he'll have
00:54:14a bit of fun
00:54:14on the blackjack tables
00:54:15later who knows
00:54:16but yeah I mean
00:54:17you get a bit lost
00:54:18in these things
00:54:18can't you
00:54:19when you're driving
00:54:19around having
00:54:20your own race
00:54:21what's happened
00:54:21to you a few times?
00:54:22Yeah it's like
00:54:22did I do well
00:54:23I felt like
00:54:25I did everything
00:54:25I could
00:54:26but he just
00:54:27didn't have much
00:54:27fun out there
00:54:28he just drove round
00:54:29but he did pick up
00:54:30four points
00:54:30again
00:54:31and he just
00:54:32he just keeps
00:54:33amassing them
00:54:33doesn't he
00:54:33I mean he's
00:54:34really really
00:54:35I mean one of the
00:54:36picks of the rookies
00:54:37yeah I think he is
00:54:38one of the picks
00:54:38of the rookies
00:54:39for sure
00:54:39and I think he's
00:54:40shown what he can do
00:54:41he's shown he's
00:54:42had the pace
00:54:42but he's also
00:54:43shown that on Sunday
00:54:44he can make it happen
00:54:45and I think one of
00:54:45the things he says
00:54:46there maybe they were
00:54:47a bit conservative
00:54:48I suspect they're
00:54:49maybe telling him
00:54:50to manage a bit more
00:54:51so he spends his
00:54:52whole race
00:54:52not feeling like
00:54:53he's pushing
00:54:54in the same way
00:54:55you know we heard
00:54:55Leclerc say he's
00:54:56pushing like an
00:54:56animal
00:54:57I think
00:54:57Agir was probably
00:54:58managing because
00:54:59the team's worried
00:55:00about the greening
00:55:00and then now he
00:55:01looks at the race
00:55:02and thinks
00:55:02if I get again to
00:55:0410th or 2 10th
00:55:05every lap
00:55:05where would that
00:55:06I left me
00:55:06so that's the type
00:55:07of these guys
00:55:08walk away from a race
00:55:09like that
00:55:09they think
00:55:09a bit hard done
00:55:11even though the
00:55:11result is still good
00:55:12ok DNF for Alex
00:55:14Albon his teammates
00:55:14started third
00:55:15finished in 7th
00:55:17here is the smooth
00:55:18operator Carlos Sainz
00:55:19hi Carlos
00:55:23hi Carlos
00:55:23a P7 from where
00:55:25you started
00:55:25is I'm sure
00:55:26probably a disappointment
00:55:27today but just
00:55:27no it's not
00:55:29ok good
00:55:30so I mean
00:55:31the qualifying
00:55:32was exceptional
00:55:32and what
00:55:33the car just
00:55:33didn't have the pace
00:55:34to match the others
00:55:34today or
00:55:35well we when
00:55:36I mean we're
00:55:37racing cars that
00:55:38in the dry are
00:55:383 or 4 10 squeakers
00:55:39over 50 laps
00:55:41is no chance
00:55:42that you're gonna
00:55:42keep them behind
00:55:43I think to be honest
00:55:45with a good race
00:55:46the next midfield
00:55:47car was 10 seconds
00:55:48behind
00:55:48we were only
00:55:49within 3 or 4
00:55:50seconds of Piastri
00:55:51and Charles
00:55:52on a Ferrari
00:55:52and a McLaren
00:55:53so I think we need
00:55:54to be happy with that
00:55:55maybe to say
00:55:56something a bit
00:55:57conservative
00:55:58around the pit stop
00:55:59I think we could
00:56:00have kept Charles
00:56:01and Oscar
00:56:02behind
00:56:02and we could have
00:56:03had to make
00:56:05them pass us on track
00:56:06rather than around
00:56:06the pit stop
00:56:07which is maybe
00:56:08something to note
00:56:09if we wanted to be
00:56:10a bit more aggressive
00:56:10but we knew
00:56:12they were quicker
00:56:13and they were
00:56:14probably gonna pass
00:56:15sooner or later
00:56:16so happy with
00:56:18P7
00:56:19it's what I should
00:56:20have been in Mexico
00:56:21what I should have
00:56:21been in Austin
00:56:22but unfortunately
00:56:23we didn't convert
00:56:24there and here
00:56:24we converted
00:56:25so the last two races
00:56:27then Qatar
00:56:27and Abu Dhabi
00:56:28how much of a fight
00:56:29can you put up
00:56:30at those two races
00:56:30will they suit you
00:56:31or not those tracks
00:56:32I think Qatar
00:56:33will be a tough one
00:56:34for us
00:56:34probably damage
00:56:35limitation
00:56:36if possible
00:56:36but then Abu Dhabi
00:56:38should be back
00:56:39in the pace
00:56:39and fighting
00:56:39for another P7
00:56:41hopefully
00:56:41thank you
00:56:42been good to see
00:56:45Carlos hasn't it
00:56:46back end of this year
00:56:47back to the Carlos
00:56:48we know
00:56:49of old
00:56:49yeah he looks
00:56:50he's gotten much more
00:56:51confident in the car
00:56:52and you know
00:56:52massive support here
00:56:54on the grid today
00:56:55there was a massive
00:56:55cheer when he got
00:56:56onto that truck
00:56:57at the beginning
00:56:57and he had a really
00:56:58good race
00:56:59you know
00:56:59his pace
00:57:00in that final stint
00:57:01was matching
00:57:03the guys ahead
00:57:04you know
00:57:04he wasn't
00:57:05falling away
00:57:06the way we might
00:57:07expect the Williams
00:57:08to
00:57:08so they were
00:57:09strong
00:57:09right
00:57:09hypothetically
00:57:10then let's get
00:57:11into 2026
00:57:12they've got
00:57:14Mercedes engine
00:57:14in there
00:57:15if the Mercedes
00:57:15power unit
00:57:16is the best
00:57:17of the lot
00:57:17there's going
00:57:17to be four teams
00:57:18do we think
00:57:20that they
00:57:20you know
00:57:20that Williams
00:57:21could be a force
00:57:22next year
00:57:22I mean
00:57:23the problem
00:57:24is that two
00:57:24of those teams
00:57:25are Mercedes
00:57:26and McLaren
00:57:26of course
00:57:27but of course
00:57:28yeah I mean
00:57:29when you look
00:57:29at what they're
00:57:30doing this year
00:57:31the performances
00:57:32are amazing
00:57:33compared to the
00:57:34last couple of
00:57:34years in the sport
00:57:35it's been a massive
00:57:36shift into 2025
00:57:37and a lot of it
00:57:39is about usable
00:57:40downforce
00:57:40yeah
00:57:41not just about
00:57:42straight lines
00:57:42so I mean
00:57:43something you always
00:57:44talk about right
00:57:44is how does the
00:57:46downforce work
00:57:47at your
00:57:47and it's giving
00:57:48the drivers a lot
00:57:50more confidence
00:57:50to push this car
00:57:51so it's a shame
00:57:52that we're not
00:57:52seeing the performances
00:57:53from Alex
00:57:54and he's had some
00:57:55bad luck
00:57:55and a few little
00:57:56mistakes
00:57:56because he's equally
00:57:58as good at getting
00:57:59points
00:57:59so yeah
00:58:00okay right
00:58:00let's finish by
00:58:02hearing from the
00:58:02champion elect
00:58:03is he looking forward
00:58:04to Qatar

00:58:16do you dare to dream
00:58:18no I'm just
00:58:20pretty disappointed
00:58:20with today
00:58:21so
00:58:21no I look forward
00:58:23to Qatar
00:58:24I look forward
00:58:24to getting

00:58:44he's playing
00:58:44us off
00:58:45against each other
00:58:45he's not thinking
00:58:47that he's looking
00:58:47forward to
00:58:47of course he is
00:58:48it's nearly there
00:58:49he cannot be
00:58:50thinking like
00:58:51it is coming
00:58:52across
00:58:53that can't be
00:58:53that can't be
00:58:54real
00:58:54don't believe that
00:58:55but it seems to be
00:58:56working for him
00:58:56he's controlling
00:58:57himself and
00:58:58you know
00:58:59he's proving that
