01:22Well, Sergio, you've talked about this before, that Mexican style is getting a little more cultured.

01:28But Zerto Ramirez is kind of leading the way.

08:05And now we have Abdullah Mason to become the youngest now.

08:09It's a bright generation for boxing, and it's looking great.

08:51You know, stabbing at the body of the long torso for us.

08:55You know, a lot of small fighters, you don't think about them throwing the jab.

08:58But Mike Tyson even said, the most important punch for me was my jab.

09:01Yeah, but you have to have quick feet.

09:03You know, the thing about Mike Tyson, he was explosive with his feet.

09:06He would square up, he would turn southpaw, and then he would double and triple jab his way in.

09:12That's something short fighters need to do, not just throw one jab.

09:16You've got to double, triple up the jab.

09:17You have to have fast feet to break that range and distance.

09:20Are you seeing anything special from Porras that makes you think maybe he could be somebody?

09:27Not yet.

09:28Quick hands, he's responsibly with his, he's responsible with his range.

09:33He fights responsibly.

09:35But nothing, no wow factor yet.

09:37But it's difficult fighting short fighters like Impenda, so, you know, it takes a while to adjust.

09:42And with fighters like Impenda, you've just got to be happy with the jab, you know, alternating speed and power of the jab.

09:56Using the entire ring, you know, throwing straight right hands.

09:59No combinations with shorter fighters, you know.

10:01You don't give them a chance to loop something or punch in between the shots.

12:57and that's breaking that distance, not fighting at the long range of Poraz,

13:01and, of course, looping the shots.

13:03But it starts with body shots that Impenda did on both sides.

13:06See right there, he tried to loop the shot, but he didn't set up with body shots.

14:10He's in there with a stubborn, short, explosive fighter, and Impenda,

14:13so just be happy keeping him on the outside of that long range.

14:22Try to set him up with that big right hand.

14:24And it was actually just the anniversary earlier this week of that incredible knockout,

14:29Sergio Martinez, when he loops that shot against Paul Williams, the taller man.

14:32Knockout of the year, face down on the canvas.

14:37Impenda, five knockouts in his 11 wins, so not a ton of power, but he has got some KOs under his belt.

14:45Oh, good shot.

14:47He just ate one there.

14:49Impenda has the right idea.

14:51You know, he's punching between the shots of the longer arm Poraz.

14:56He's trying to time that overhand right.

14:57He keeps inching that front foot closer and closer, you know, not being at mid or long range.

15:03Clever fighter, Impenda.

15:05Yeah, doesn't seem like a lot to be excited about for Poraz.

15:14Really hasn't put his stamp on this fight.

15:17Yeah, he neglected the jab.

15:18You know, he's pawing the jab out there, but I would be busting up the shorter fighter with the jab, man.

15:23Just, you know, punching from the taller stance, making yourself a little smaller.

15:27But everything behind that jab, you know, make him run into the hard shots.

15:30He's alternated with speed, with flicking jabs, and then surprised him with a shotgun jab.

15:37But if you're hooking with a smaller fighter, I mean, it's only going to be a matter of time before the smaller fighter beats you to the hook.

15:43Coming up next, Mohammed Alakel from Saudi Arabia, unbeaten, 6-0 in action.

15:54He'll be taking on Xiaming Li from China.

15:59Sergio, he seems to be getting better and better every time we see him.

16:04And it started with, you know, the punch placement.

16:07You know, when he first started, the footwork was fine, but he was quick to punch.

16:11He wasn't turning him.

16:12He wasn't turning the knuckle, keeping his elbow in.

16:15He was focusing on speed.

16:17Now he's focusing more on technique, and behind technique is going to come the power.

16:23And credit to Abel Sanchez for slowing him down, you know, turning the punches, and minding your technique before the power comes.

16:30Mike, you spend a lot of time in this country.

16:32Can you imagine if someone like Mohammed Alakel was a one-day challenge for a world title?

16:36He wouldn't be fighting in an arena.

16:38He'd be fighting in the stadium.

16:39Yeah, I mean, look at all the fights they're having here now.

16:41All right, and his excellency, Turkey Al-Sheikh, it's a dream of his and a passion project to crown the champion.

16:47So Saltona Muhammad ends Muhammad Alakel training with Abel Sanchez.

17:22And that time he led him with a jab, which created the opening.

17:25And this is where he wants to be caught up again with a right.

17:27And Porras does not look too good right now.

17:30Lupin both shots now because now he already figured it out.

17:34He got the formula.

17:34He broke that long distance.

17:36He's inside the reach.

17:37So now he's looping both hands and landing cleanly.

17:41You can see Porras didn't like those shots.

17:43Now on the back foot boxing.

17:45And he's doing a nice job, I think, of dipping his head when he throws the overhand shot.

17:50That's what you have to do.

17:52You know, you got to tuck that chin in and swing for the fences, but do it responsibly.

17:56You threw a lot of those against, I think I was afraid of Angulo.

18:00No, I threw a lot of those, period, because I would, I would make myself small.

18:04That's a shot right there.

18:06I learned that shot when I was watching, you know, Sugar Ray Leonard, Tommy Hearns.

18:10You know, Tommy Hearns was winning every round.

18:11It was like the later in the fight, you're blowing it, son.

18:14It was that overhand right to the taller Hearns.

18:16And that changed everything for Sugar Ray.

18:19And now you see some blood trickling from the nose of Julio.

18:26Shot is quite his way back.

18:27This is not where he wants to be.

18:29In close, and he hit another right hand.

18:31This is the best round of the fight by far for Pius and Penda.

18:34Oh, and he's rocking Porras.

18:36Not only has he rocked him, but he shook him.

18:39Now Porras is thinking twice about throwing his own punches.

18:41Maybe this will wake the Mexican up a little bit.

18:47Kind of treating this like a sparring session.

18:51Now that Impenda's already throwing, landing those overhand shots, that's the last punch you want to throw, is that lead uppercut.

18:57You leave your chin exposed, and it's not a good, it's not a good look for technique for the taller fighter that's getting rocked.

19:10I haven't seen a ton of those from him.

19:19Yeah, every time Impenda comes in with a jab, he gets some successful shots to land after it.

19:25Yeah, that's the punch he should be landing right now.

19:27You know, you've got to hide that overhand right.

19:29You know, Porras has already felt it.

19:32He's expecting it.

19:34Now you've got to hide it.

19:37You've got to be more, manipulate your opponent into that overhand shot than do that with jabs and foot fangs.

20:14There's an uppercut coming around the guard, alternating the attack by the shorter fighter, Impenda.

20:20But there's the shot right there.

20:21All three punches in the book.

20:23Uppercut, right hook, and then looping shot over the top.

20:28You can see that Porras is feeling those punches.

20:31He got the respect.

20:33Impenda needs to continue doing this and attacking the taller fighter.

20:38Obviously, Impenda won that round.

20:40You hear his corner telling him, stop him.

20:42And that shot was right on the temple, Sergio.

20:45It doesn't matter how good your chin is, you get hit on the temple, you could go down very easily.

20:50Absolutely, especially for tall fighters.

20:52You know, they're not accustomed to getting hit with looping shots by shorter fighters.

20:55Their legs betray him sometimes.

20:57That's what happens against Anthony Joshua, right, when he fought Andy Ruiz, another shorter fighter.

21:01That's what happens with taller fighters, period, because, you know, they don't look, they don't take the looping shots as comfortable as shorter fighters.

21:09They can't hide it.

21:10All you need is to see West line, you heard the crowd, ooh, he felt that one.

21:16Just like Joseph Parker and Bacoli right here in Riyadh.

21:19There you go.

21:20So what's your strategy if you're Porras right now, Sergio, after coming off that tough round five?

21:28I would go back to the basics, and that's the jab.

21:31I mean, you got all that height.

21:33You got all that reach.

21:34You just got to flick that jab out there.

21:36You make the shorter fighter who's already getting aggressive.

21:39Let him run into your jab.

21:41Bust him up with that jab.

21:45But see, that's all he's been doing, Porras.

21:47He's just been flicking that jab, touching that jab, poking that jab, but he's not really committing to that jab.

21:58No doubt about it, Impenda has to win this round.

22:03And it still might not be enough.

22:05Impenda now, the one pressing forward.

22:19Just missed a big right uppercutters, Impenda.

22:22He's swinging for the fences, and he has to.

22:24That's what his corner told him to do.

22:26As he should.

22:27Momentum has changed.

22:29Now it's Impenda going forward, being the aggressor, looking for the big shots.

22:36Julio Porras certainly lucky.

22:38This is only a six-round fight.

22:42Nice shot again.

22:43And Porras is leaving himself wide open as he follows through these power punches.

22:48Yeah, momentum has definitely changed.

22:50This is Impenda's round, and the momentum has switched.

22:54You can see that Porras is respecting and backing up, filling the hands of Impenda.

23:00Good thing this isn't an eight-round, or Porras would be in some real trouble losing on the cards.

23:35I mean, that should be the MO of very stout fighters, short fighters that are accustomed to being a lot shorter and smaller

23:43than their opponents.

23:45The body's the way to go.

23:53And that will do it as Porras bounces off the ropes.

23:58So you've got to believe Impenda most likely won those last two rounds,

24:01but did he sneak one of the first four and earn a draw?

24:06We'll find out here momentarily.

24:07I want to remind you of what's coming up straight ahead on our main event of the evening.

24:15Brian Norman Jr. and Devin Haney.

24:18This is Haney's first fight at 147, and he goes right after a champion, Sergio.

24:23Do you agree with that strategy?

24:26I agree with the guts of Devin Haney, and you can just look at his resume, and this guy hasn't, you know,

24:31he hasn't avoided anyone.

24:33It's champion after champion.

24:34You've got to give the kid credit, man.

24:37He turned the dream into reality.

24:40Not a lot of happy faces in the corner of Porras right now, and for good reason.

24:46And you asked me early in the fight if I'm impressed with what I'm seeing,

24:50and I couldn't really pick out anything, Todd, because there's a lot of work to be done

24:55with Julio Porras right now.

24:57And one of the things is upper body movement.

24:59You know, the thing about Mexican fighters, they have great upper body movement.

25:04They work on their lower back.

25:05They know how to go under punches.

25:07Porras was a little bit too stiff.

25:09Didn't use a jab enough.

25:11Fought to the smaller man's stature and got hit with those looping shots.

25:15It wasn't the type of performance where you can go away and say, all right,

25:20there's something to work with there.

25:21There's a lot that Julio Porras needs to work on.

25:24Let's hear what the judges had to say, and for that, we're back in the ring with Thomas Tribe.

25:27Ladies and gentlemen, after six rounds of boxing, we go to the judges' scorecards

25:37and all three judges, Mike Ross, Mike Fitzgerald, and Pavel Hennig are in agreement.
