Steve Carell tells THR on the 'IF' movie premiere carpet how he jumped at the chance to work with John Krasinski again partly "just to be with him." Plus, he reveals he will not be participating in 'The Office' reboot.
00:00You both work so closely on The Office together, so what was it like reuniting with John and also having him be your director this time?
00:06Well, he directed some episodes of The Office, so I was familiar with him as a director, and he's a great director.
00:11He's very thorough, he's very, he's smart, and he knows how to work with actors because he is one.
00:17And it was just a joy from beginning to end, and I jumped at the chance to work with him again, just partly just to be with him.
00:23You know, he's a good friend, and I hadn't seen him in a while, so it was nice to catch up.
00:27Of course. Well, speaking of, I know that Greg Daniels is creating a reboot.
00:31Would Michael Scott ever show up in this new world, and will you be watching?
00:35I will be watching, but I will not be showing up.
00:37Okay, okay, so that's totally off the cards.
00:40That is off the cards. I think they, yeah, it's just a new thing, and there's really no reason for my character to show up in something like that.
00:47But I'm excited about it. It sounds like a great conceit. I love the idea.
00:52I guess it's set in a failing newspaper company, and I worked with Donald Gleason, who is one of the leads, and I did the patient with him.
01:01And he's an excellent actor and a super nice guy, so I think it'll be great.
