After confirming that the veteran movie star had been diagnosed with aphasia, his family now says they've received "a clear diagnosis" of frontotemporal dementia, known as FTD.

00:04confirming that his condition has worsened and he's been diagnosed with dementia.
00:08The news comes nearly a year after his family revealed that Willis would be stepping away
00:13from acting due to an initial diagnosis of aphasia. The statement began by expressing
00:17gratitude for, quote, the outpouring of love and compassion for Bruce over the past 10 months.
00:23The 67-year-old's family wrote,
00:25The statement went on to detail how FTD is the most common form of dementia for people
00:46under 60. While there are currently no treatments for the disease, the family shared that they hope
00:50that changes in the years ahead. They wrote,
00:53As Bruce's condition advances, we hope that any media attention can be focused on shining a light
00:58on this disease that needs far more awareness and research. The family also opened up about how
01:03Bruce, quote, always believed in using his voice in the world to help others and to raise awareness
01:08about important issues both publicly and privately, saying they know in their hearts that he would
01:13want to shine a light on the disease. The statement was attributed to Willis' wife,
01:17Emma Hemming-Willis, his ex-wife Demi Moore, and his children Rumor, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel,
01:23and Evelyn. It ended with,
01:25Bruce has always found joy in life and has helped everyone he knows to do the same.
