00:03 Now back to the news.
00:05 Bruce Willis was pictured for the first time since his wife, Emma Heming, revealed heartbreaking
00:10 information about his ongoing battle with dementia.
00:13 The 68-year-old actor was spotted in the passenger seat of a car in Los Angeles Monday, just
00:18 hours after Heming, 45, went on the Today show and said it's hard to know if he's aware
00:23 of his deteriorating health.
00:25 The diehard Star War quilted navy jacket and matching hat during his outing.
00:30 This is a rare public sighting for the father of five, as he's mainly kept a low profile
00:34 since February, when his family announced that he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal
00:39 dementia, which can cause slowed movement, stiffness, balance problems and changes in
00:43 behavior or language.
00:46 The Look Who's Talking actor was spotted out and about in Santa Monica, Calif., on March

00:55 He retired from acting in March 2022 when he was initially diagnosed with aphasia.
01:02 During her appearance on the Today show, Heming fought back tears as she opened up about how
01:06 she and her two daughters are dealing with the grief and sadness that comes with watching
01:10 Willis's health decline.
01:11 "What I'm learning is that dementia is hard," Heming told Today show host Hoda Kotb.
01:16 "It's hard on the person diagnosed.
01:19 It's also hard on the family.
01:21 And that is no different for Bruce or myself or our girls.
01:24 And when they say that this is a family disease, it really is," she said.
01:28 Heming, who shares daughters Mabel, 11, and Evelyn, 9, with the actor, went on to say
01:33 that explaining Willis's illness to their girls wasn't easy, but they're a very honest
01:38 and open household.
01:39 "And, the most important thing was to be able for us to say what the disease was, explain
01:44 what it is, because when you know what the disease is from a medical standpoint, it sort
01:48 of all makes sense," she said.
01:50 "So it was important that we let them know what it is because, you know, I don't want
01:54 there to be any stigma or shame attached to their dad's diagnosis or for any form of dementia."
