00:03and we now have new photos from the set.

00:07via social media on Wednesday,

00:09along with a letter from Spielberg,

00:10in which he talked about remaking

00:12the 1961 Oscar-winning classic.

00:14He wrote, in part,

00:30have given our film everything they've got.

00:32The studio also shared several photos

00:34featuring Spielberg with his film Stars,

00:36the director with icon Rita Moreno,

00:38and a pic of the entire cast.

00:40Production on the film,

00:41in which Ansel Elgort stars as Tony,

00:42and newcomer Rachel Zegler plays Maria,

00:44wrapped last Saturday.

00:46As you probably recall from the original film,

00:48the movie sees Tony, a one-time member of the Jets,

00:51fall in love with Maria,

00:52the sister of the Sharks' leader,

00:54and their love has deadly consequences.

00:56West Side Story dances into theaters on December 18th, 2020.
