00:00Tonight, we're hearing from the mother of a man declared missing in Myrtle Beach.
00:10This is not like our son. He would not just disappear without a trace. He just wouldn't.
00:17Not knowing where her son is or if he's okay, she's living a mother's worst nightmare.
00:23I'm worried that he is hurt. It's the not knowing. It's the nightmare in all this.
00:30I'm worried that someone is hurting.
00:34I just beg the public to keep us in your prayers because, you know, God is the only one that's going to get us all free.
00:47Every suspect accused of a crime has the right to remain silent.
00:51Many agree to be interrogated anyway, but they can stop the interview at any moment, making it a race against time.
01:01Justice hangs in the balance.
01:13Christopher Bowling's mother contacted the Myrtle Beach Police Department because even though he was 25 years old,
01:19Chris was the sort of person who got in touch with his mother fairly frequently, but he didn't make any contact for five or six days.
01:26He stopped showing up at work. It got to the point where several people were concerned.
01:31Chris's mom, she was just extremely emotional and convinced that something bad had happened to Chris.
01:40Shortly after police received the phone call, they checked local hospitals, no hits on the hospitals.
01:48They went to his apartment, knocked several times, no answer at the apartment.
01:52They had no leads. It's like he had just vanished.
01:55Marissa shared with us that Chris was from Tennessee, but moved to Myrtle Beach because his son,
02:21who was two at the time, lived in Myrtle Beach, and he wanted to be closer to his son.
02:27She told us that on July 28th, Chris was supposed to have their son and that she had not heard from him.
02:38She said that was very out of character and unlike him, that he was always reliable when it would come to meeting with his son.
02:46And she was extremely worried about Chris.
03:01There was no activity after the late evening of the 27th.
03:06We still weren't sure if there was some kind of foul play, but we all felt that something bad had happened to Chris.
03:16Chris was my best friend.
03:30He would even tell people, I'm a mama's boy, you know.
03:34He had a big heart.
03:37He loved his sisters.
03:40With the youngest one, when she was born, Chris called her his baby.
03:45And he was very protective of her.
03:49He was so special and so gifted.
03:54He became passionate in rapping.
03:57The age 14, 15, some around in there.
04:01I mean, to hear him spit those lyrics out like he did, it's unreal.
04:07Chris had ambition, perseverance.
04:11As he got older, he was wanting to be a producer.
04:16He would make beats for other kids out there that wanted to go into that type of music.
04:23When he went missing, I felt like I'm in a nightmare and I'm never going to wake up.
04:29I keep looking at my phone, hoping that he would text or call.
04:38I was praying that Chris was alive.
04:40July 27th is not only the last day Christopher Sky Bowling was officially seen in Myrtle Beach,
04:58but it's also the last day Kelly similarly says she heard from her sons.
05:02We want answers.
05:03We want to know where our son is.
05:22We are speaking with Tyler Panzarella.
05:25How long have you known Chris?
05:29Not too long.
05:32He advised that he did not know Chris very well, that he had met Chris through a mutual friend.
05:39So his son and stuff is here.
05:41So he was asking me, he's like, hey, I want to come down to Myrtle Beach and everything.
05:47Could you help me out and let me stay with you?
05:48I'll pay you rent or whatever.
05:49And I was like, yeah, no problem.
05:51And then Tyler told us that Chris decided to come down here with his two friends from back home as well, Bailey and Nick.
05:58Once they arrived, Bailey and Nick also asked, hey, can we also stay with you for some time?
06:03And he agreed, yes, they all could stay there temporarily.
06:05Last time I heard from him, I think it was like the 26th, 27th, I believe it was.
06:13And then he just kept talking about, like, this girl he was talking about and going to, like, North Carolina with her.
06:19Who's the girl do you know?
06:20I have no idea.
06:21I don't know the specific name.
06:23And then, like, didn't answer my phone calls or nothing, anything, nothing at all.
06:28Do you have Bailey and Nick's numbers?
06:32Yeah.
06:33Tyler said that after Chris went missing, Nick and Bailey had moved back to Tennessee.
06:39Tyler didn't seem nervous, but the information he was sharing that Chris would all of a sudden run off with a girl as much as he cared about his son, it didn't make sense.
06:52There was a gut feeling that things weren't adding up and that something was wrong.
06:58Nick Henry said that he had not spoken to Chris since the end of July and that he had basically left Myrtle Beach to go with a girl.
07:19Again, it was just more of the same story that just didn't make any sense to us.
07:24Something just wasn't right.
07:24Detectives delved into his Snapchat, found a couple posts that he had made the day that he went missing.
07:46He had posted a full-body selfie where you could see what he was wearing.
07:50The shoes he was wearing were some blue Jordans.
07:53We learned that Chris was actually making plans to stay in Myrtle Beach.
07:58He was in the process of getting his own apartment.
08:02He had posted on social media on the 27th showing that apartment complex.
08:05That contradicted what we had learned from Tyler and Nick as far as him leaving town with a girl.
08:10We were very suspicious of Tyler.
08:36So we had a cadaver dog come and be on scene during the search warrant.
08:43The cadaver dog that was brought in actually alerted inside the apartment.
08:47Between the living room and the master bedroom, that was a location that Chris was known to sleep at.
08:53And when the dog got to the area, it positively alerted for human remains.
09:01Speaking to the people that, you know, are in charge of those dogs, they said it could have been something as simple as some kind of trace evidence or something being carried from clothing or from the shoes and that kind of stuff to the apartment.
09:14So at that point, we are transitioning from this missing person's case to now we're having direct evidence of a homicide occurring.
09:21We're having a lot of work.
09:52Our game plan was to start non-confrontational
09:57and kind of let him run the interview at that point.
10:04All you're signing for is that I read you your rights
10:05and you understand those rights.
10:07Then after we get his statement on video,
10:11we would start questioning the inconsistencies
10:14and make it more of an interrogation.
10:17What date was the last time you saw Chris?
10:2026 or 27.
10:22So what was the circumstance surrounding that?
10:24It was his night. He said he was leaving.
10:26And Nick was like, oh, he's just coming back here.
10:28I'm spending the night.
10:29So, I mean, like, you guys inside when he's, like, packing up his stuff?
10:32Yeah, I was leaving because I went to go to my friend Devin's house
10:35on Caroline Forest.
10:36Anybody else go to you guys?
10:38Yeah, Nick and Bailey went on to meet at Devin's.
10:41Did you guys hang around until you saw him leave
10:43or you guys just dropped him off?
10:44Just dropped him off.
10:46Like, the back of the parking lot, that's when he was just gone.
10:50Now he's locked himself into the story.
10:53Then that's when we decided to transition to the interrogation,
10:56asking direct questions
10:57and being able to verify whether he's been caught in a lie.
11:01I think he was talking to Nick about it.
11:03I didn't talk to him at all.
11:05We're all going to answer.
11:06We don't do our own thing.
11:09You know, originally we were kind of helping
11:11the missing persons division, okay?
11:13At this point, I mean, we think that something happened to Chris.
11:16And we're obviously talking to you
11:17because you're one of the last people that saw him, okay?
11:21This is the important part, okay?
11:22For you to basically be untruthful
11:24and just listen to him for a second, okay?
11:28To tell us everything you know, okay?
11:31Because we think something happened here,
11:33possibly an accident, okay?
11:34And we think you know something about it.
11:49We've been in investigation for a long time.
11:51The Myrtle Beach Police Department
11:52has not not solved an investigation like this since 2000.
11:56Okay, 20 years.
11:57So, what do you think?
12:01What I was saying, that's not 100% truthful.
12:03You know what I mean?
12:04I haven't seen it since then.
12:06I'll tell you right now,
12:07when we came here and did the search warrant,
12:09we had a cadaver dog come.
12:11The dog alerted to a possible deceased person
12:13in your apartment.
12:16It's...
12:16Where did he alert?
12:18Or, like, where?
12:19Did it just, like, in general?
12:21Or are you just, like...
12:23What I'm trying to do, I mean,
12:24I'm not playing games with you if you're...
12:25Yeah, I'm not either.
12:26I know, I'm just...
12:27I know, what I'm saying is
12:28I'm trying to give you every opportunity
12:31to basically tell us anything additional you may have.
12:33We need to know now,
12:35because later on,
12:36when we put the puzzle together,
12:37which we're going to do,
12:38we're not going to have this conversation,
12:40if that makes sense.
12:42You can tell Tyler was getting a little nervous.
12:47It's at that point he realizes
12:49that his story's falling apart.
12:52So he has an option,
12:53and the option is to change his story
12:55or tell the truth.
12:57Do you think that Nick or Bailey
13:23would be capable of doing something to Chris?
13:26I'm going to say Bailey.
13:28I mean,
13:29just from, like, the way Nick talks
13:31and carries himself,
13:32like, maybe.
13:35Nick scares me,
13:36if I'm going to be really honest,
13:38but, like,
13:39truly, like, this one, like,
13:40it freaks me out.
13:41And so, like,
13:43he, like, said weird stuff
13:45about, or basically, like,
13:47that he might have done something.
13:49And that just scared the shit out of me,
13:50because, like,
13:50I've never been around that.
13:51I've never, like,
13:52you know what I mean?
13:53What did he tell you?
13:54What was the road?
13:54What's that old haunted road?
13:56Like, on Lucas Bay Road?
13:58I never heard that story.
13:59It was, like,
14:00apparently a haunted road back there.
14:01He was saying he went there
14:03and, like,
14:04did something or whatever,
14:05like,
14:06said he killed somebody.
14:07Mm-hmm.
14:07But, like,
14:08then that's when my gun went missing.
14:10But I don't know who it was.
14:11It scared me.
14:12Well, here,
14:13here in that story,
14:14Yeah.
14:15Do you think it could be Chris?
14:17I mean, now, yeah.
14:19Honestly.
14:21As Tyler is recounting
14:24that part of the story,
14:26I felt that
14:28he was telling
14:29partial truths,
14:31but
14:32we were trying to
14:34just
14:35not show
14:36any reaction,
14:38just keep him talking.
14:40If you're scared of
14:42Nick or Bailey
14:43or someone else,
14:43or, you know,
14:44the best thing you do
14:45if you want to help yourself out
14:46is tell the truth.
14:48So,
14:48did you see Chris
14:49dead at any point?
14:55Okay.
14:56Can you tell us
14:56what happened?
14:57Vic was telling me
14:58to go there.
15:00He thought we were
15:00just going to go
15:01do some, like,
15:01haunted stuff
15:02or, like,
15:02by that road
15:03or whatever.
15:03So, like,
15:04we went there
15:04and then, like,
15:06he had my gun
15:07or whatever
15:08and then just, like,
15:09hit it.
15:10Like,
15:10just shot.
15:16Vic shot Chris.
15:17How many times
15:18did you shoot him?
15:21Where?
15:23Then what happened?
15:24I was just shaking,
15:25scared,
15:25my f***ing pipes.
15:26I don't know
15:27if he was going to
15:27shoot me or what.
15:29I don't know.
15:29I'm out of the front.
15:30Like,
15:30this is, like,
15:30the scariest
15:31I completely understand.
15:33When he's talking
15:34about shaking
15:35and freaking out,
15:37he's showing
15:38no emotion
15:39at all.
15:41To me,
15:42his demeanor
15:43seemed like
15:44he's being dishonest,
15:45but we were
15:46extremely concerned
15:47with finding out
15:49where Chris was.
15:50so we didn't want
15:52to press
15:53too much.
15:54So you're up
15:55down Lucas Road.
15:56Who's with you?
15:57You?
15:57Nick and Bailey.
15:59Okay.
15:59So,
16:01the four of you
16:02get out of the car,
16:03and what happens?
16:05We just walk
16:06into the woods
16:06and we just shot him.
16:08What was the conversation
16:09before the gun went off?
16:11Nothing.
16:12We were just all
16:12walking to the woods.
16:14So how did Nick
16:15get the gun?
16:15I mean,
16:16he just took it
16:16out of your car?
16:17Or who had the gun
16:18when the guys
16:18got out of the car?
16:19Because I was walking
16:20and he told me
16:22to bring it
16:23or whatever.
16:23So I was like,
16:24okay.
16:24And then he was like,
16:25hey, let me see it.
16:26And I was like,
16:26what?
16:27He's like,
16:27I just want to shoot it
16:28or whatever.
16:28So I was like,
16:29okay.
16:29And then I hand it to him.
16:32How far were they standing?
16:34I like,
16:35something like that.
16:37Okay.
16:37So,
16:39six feet
16:39you ever take?
16:42Arm extended?
16:43Or?
16:44Yeah.
16:44How?
16:45No, you can.
16:46I could tell
16:53that he was reliving
16:56that moment.
16:57He appeared
16:58to be seeing Chris.
17:00He didn't see me
17:01standing there.
17:03And you could just see
17:04the blank look
17:05in his eyes.
17:07It seemed like
17:08he was the one
17:09that shot Chris.
17:10And he was trying
17:12to shift the focus
17:13to Nick.
17:15He seemed
17:15to be giving us
17:16all the facts
17:17of the case
17:17just downplaying
17:19his involvement
17:19at that point.
17:21So did Nick
17:22say anything
17:23right after Shaman?
17:24Nothing.
17:24He just was quiet.
17:25And then he was like,
17:27take this.
17:28So he gave you
17:28back the gun?
17:29Yeah.
17:29I didn't know
17:30what to do,
17:30so I just grabbed him
17:31and went to the car.
17:33He's telling us
17:34that Nick shoots
17:35somebody with his gun,
17:36with Tyler's gun,
17:38and then gives the gun
17:39back to him.
17:41At this point,
17:42you'd be able
17:42to point the gun
17:43at Nick if you want to.
17:44You'd be able to say,
17:45I'm leaving,
17:45I'm getting in my car,
17:46I'm not taking you with me,
17:47I'm going to the police.
17:48It just doesn't make sense.
17:50So where's his body now?
17:52Like Lucas Road somewhere?
17:53Yeah.
17:54You think he could get
17:55as close to the spot?
17:56Yeah.
17:57That moment,
18:02Tyler was the lead
18:04in the homicide investigation.
18:08At that point,
18:09we did not have
18:10any physical evidence
18:12and we did not have
18:14a body,
18:15so we charged him
18:17with obstruction of justice
18:19for impeding
18:21and hindering
18:22our missing person investigation.
18:24He's just going to
18:25back down there.
18:27You got a handcuff key
18:51on your thing?
18:52Yeah.
18:52You just want to get him out
18:53and take the shackles off.
18:57Swing your feet around,
18:58man.
18:58We're going to take
18:58these leg shackles off
18:59real fast.
19:04The entire time,
19:06he didn't put off
19:08an air of being scared.
19:11He was just
19:12cold and
19:14emotionless.
19:16It's kind of like
19:25saying that you're
19:26one,
19:27two o'clock.
19:28I think that's about
19:29the spot then.
19:31You want to check it out.
19:34For me,
19:35in that moment,
19:36the lack
19:38of emotion
19:38just solidified
19:40that he was
19:41the one
19:41that shot
19:42Chris.
19:45Be careful
19:46where you're
19:46stepping up
19:47if there's
19:47a crime scene.
19:48Yeah.
19:49We're going to
19:50just fall over here.
20:10Do you remember
20:11what shoes
20:11he was wearing
20:12that night?
20:13He's like
20:13blue Jordans.
20:15Blue and white.
20:19From where I'm
20:24standing,
20:24I can see
20:25shoes that appear
20:27to be the same
20:27shoes that Chris
20:28was wearing
20:28in the Snapchat
20:29from the night
20:30before he went
20:31missing.
20:31For me,
20:34that was probably
20:34one of the biggest
20:35moments of the case
20:36because at that point,
20:37you know that
20:38it's more than likely
20:39going to be Chris.
20:59I remember
20:59telling my husband
21:01he's gone.
21:04He's gone.
21:06I didn't want
21:07to believe it.
21:09I would have died
21:10for him.
21:13He was my word.
21:31Once the body's found,
21:43we decided
21:43let's basically
21:44turn that heat up.
21:45We were trying
21:45to rattle Tyler.
21:47We're trying to get him
21:48to make a confession.
21:50As a law enforcement
21:51officer,
21:51you're actually allowed
21:52to lie in interviews.
21:53You just got to be careful
21:54as far as, you know,
21:54what you're lying about.
21:55I just talked
21:58to the guys
21:58in Tennessee.
21:59They're saying,
22:00some boys there
22:01are saying he's the guy.
22:03He's the guy.
22:06Sergeant Lent
22:07tells them
22:08that he just
22:09talked to
22:10Nick and Bailey
22:11and that
22:12they are saying
22:13that Tyler
22:15is the shooter.
22:17What he is saying
22:18is a lie.
22:19We had not spoken
22:21to Nick
22:22or Bailey.
22:23We wanted to see
22:24if he changed
22:25his story
22:26or what his reaction was.
22:27They're saying
22:28that you planned this,
22:30you drove him out there,
22:32you had the gun,
22:34y'all walked out there,
22:35you gave the gun,
22:37you shot him.
22:41No.
22:42I never had a problem
22:43with Chris,
22:43nothing ever.
22:45I'm not like that, man.
22:46I don't,
22:47I came from a good family,
22:48I promise you, man.
22:49I would never do that
22:51to someone, ever.
22:52They say you did it.
22:57No.
22:59I'm telling you,
22:59I'm a good person.
23:01I would never,
23:02never in my entire life,
23:03ever.
23:04You're saying
23:04he was a good guy?
23:06Why didn't you call 911
23:07whenever you left there,
23:08you just left him out there
23:09to die?
23:09Because I was scared, man.
23:12I didn't know what to do.
23:14This is your chance?
23:15I mean,
23:16did you do it?
23:17No.
23:17Did you kill him?
23:18No.
23:19I'm being 100% honest
23:21on everything.
23:21No.
23:22I told you,
23:23everything that happened,
23:24I was,
23:25no.
23:26So was it an accident?
23:27You shooting by accident?
23:28I never saw it,
23:29because Nick had the gun.
23:30Or are you just a monster
23:31and just say,
23:32hey,
23:32I'm going to take you
23:33into the woods
23:33and blow your head off?
23:35No, man.
23:36Nick had the gun.
23:37It's,
23:37he's been,
23:37like,
23:38he scares me.
23:39He's been scared of me
23:40ever since.
23:41Like,
23:41that's the type of person
23:42he is.
23:43So for a normal person,
23:46if you are scared
23:47and you just saw somebody
23:48murder somebody,
23:49are you going to,
23:50one,
23:50take that gun back?
23:51And if you're truly nervous,
23:52now you have the only weapon.
23:54So at that point,
23:55why not remove yourself
23:56from the situation?
23:57But he's doing everything
23:58that Nick tells him to do,
23:59even when Nick no longer
24:00has a gun,
24:00which is kind of strange.
24:02I know I should have
24:04told you guys.
24:04I've never been around that.
24:06I've never been
24:07in that situation.
24:08You're surrounded
24:09by someone every day.
24:10You're going to get
24:10on each other's nerves.
24:16All right, Tyler,
24:16sit tight.
24:17We'll be right back again.
24:18Okay.
24:32Sergeant Lent is
24:38more assertive,
24:40more direct.
24:42I've been sitting
24:43in another room
24:44listening to you,
24:45listening to everything
24:46you say.
24:46All these guys have told me
24:48everything that's been
24:48going on
24:49for the last three
24:50or four weeks
24:50or whenever the hell
24:51this started.
24:52All right?
24:53You're how old?
24:5423.
24:55What do you plan
24:56on doing with your life?
24:58I'm the best person
24:59I can be.
25:00Really?
25:01Where do you
25:02want to be
25:02that best person?
25:04Let me tell you
25:05right now,
25:06you're fixing
25:06to go to prison.
25:07Guess what's
25:08going to get done
25:08to Tyler?
25:10You're going from here
25:11and you're going
25:11to get charged
25:12with murder.
25:12You're going to be
25:13charged with killing
25:14Chris.
25:15Do you understand that?
25:16Look at me.
25:17Don't sit there
25:18and give me
25:19these crocodile tears.
25:21Tyler,
25:21don't sit here
25:22and bull**** me.
25:23Tyler,
25:37you've played the game
25:38in here long enough.
25:42You're involved
25:43in some ****
25:44that you would have
25:45never,
25:46ever,
25:46ever been done
25:49if you were a good person.
25:50because you don't
25:52go out to
25:52Lucas Bay Lights
25:53and bring a gun
25:54into the woods
25:55at night
25:56if you ain't got
25:58something planned.
25:59So be honest.
26:01This story,
26:02to be able to tell
26:03this story
26:03shouldn't take you
26:04any more than
26:04five minutes
26:05from beginning
26:06to end.
26:07So that's what you think.
26:08You think I'm just
26:09that type of person.
26:10I don't know where you're in.
26:11Yeah,
26:11I think you're the kind
26:11of person
26:12that takes a friend
26:13out into the middle
26:13of the woods.
26:15From what representation
26:16though,
26:16as well.
26:17From your own words.
26:19You took your gun
26:20out of the glove box.
26:21You can smile
26:22all the ****
26:22you want,
26:23brother.
26:23I'm not smiling right now.
26:24You're smirking.
26:25I'm not smirking.
26:25You took your gun
26:26out of the ****
26:26damn glove box.
26:28You handed it to a,
26:29you say you handed it
26:30to another kid
26:31who then shot your buddy
26:32and then you all just
26:33****
26:34let's just go back
26:35in the car
26:35and go back
26:35to my apartment.
26:36It takes you a month
26:38to come forward
26:38and say,
26:39I didn't know what to do.
26:40No,
26:41you didn't know
26:41what to do.
26:42You're a good person.
26:43But good people,
26:44you know what they don't do?
26:45They don't leave a ****
26:46kid to lay out
26:46in the woods
26:47to get eaten by animals.
26:48That's what you did.
26:50You got him.
26:51Five minutes.
26:52Five minutes.
26:53You better call him.
26:57It may appear
26:58that he lost his patience
26:59and left the room,
27:00but that's by plan.
27:01Lent,
27:03the quote unquote
27:03bad cop,
27:04then Detective DeWitt
27:05to be the big cop.
27:06That was pretty much
27:06our strategy at that point.
27:08After Lent's
27:09no longer in the room,
27:09hopefully Tyler
27:10is now going to open up
27:12to the other detective
27:13that's in that room
27:13because he's being
27:14nice and reasonable.
27:15I want to talk to him.
27:18Is there anything else
27:20you can think of?
27:20Anything whatsoever?
27:24You know what happened.
27:25You know what the story is.
27:26You know where the body is
27:27and stuff like that.
27:29I made a mistake.
27:30I should have came
27:31to you guys sooner
27:32and I should have.
27:32I just,
27:32I was,
27:33I didn't know what to do.
27:34I had no idea.
27:35But now I got to live with that.
27:39There's really nothing
27:39I can do to get away
27:41from this work.
27:43I know that.
27:45I made a mistake, dude.
27:48Now I got to pay for that.
27:52He never came out
27:53and said he was
27:53the one who did it.
27:54But the interrogation
27:55of Tyler,
27:56it was critical
27:57because he put himself there.
28:00He was the only one
28:02who owned a gun.
28:03His story,
28:04it didn't make sense.
28:05It didn't all match up.
28:07What is important
28:08to consider in this case
28:10is that Nick and Bailey
28:12are from Tennessee.
28:14Meanwhile,
28:15Tyler is from around here.
28:16If any of them
28:17would be familiar
28:18with a local ghost story
28:20that is urban legend
28:22around here,
28:23it would certainly
28:23have been Tyler.
28:24Tyler.
28:24Tyler.
28:32Now,
28:33it was extremely important
28:34for the officers
28:35to talk to Nick
28:36and to talk to Bailey
28:37for them to establish
28:38everything that happened
28:39during that shooting.
29:02He was like very thrown
29:27off his game
29:27because he was obviously
29:28seeing us from Myrtle Beach
29:29in Horry County.
29:30I'm sure that heightened
29:31his senses
29:32and the fact
29:33where it's like
29:33he knows why we're there.
29:39So what's going to happen
29:40to me?
29:41Am I going to jail?
29:42I don't know.
29:43But let's just
29:44have a conversation
29:46and we'll kind of
29:46cross that bridge
29:48and we'll get to it,
29:48okay?
29:49All right, Nick.
29:49So I'm keeping real
29:51with you, okay?
29:52Yeah.
29:53Obviously,
29:53we're from South Carolina.
29:55I work for Horry County.
29:56He works for Myrtle Beach.
29:58We've been working
29:58on the case
29:59for quite some time now,
30:00and we have
30:01recently that you
30:02are involved
30:02in that case,
30:03okay?
30:04So we're going
30:04to go back
30:05to the night
30:05of July 27, 2020.
30:08Yeah.
30:08Tell me about it.
30:14I don't want
30:14to say anything.
30:16Why?
30:20Take some deep breaths, man.
30:21I don't want to say anything.
30:37OK.
30:37Oh,
30:38make sure you get
30:57dude, please
30:59yeah, it's my house key
31:02take some deep rest, man
31:04so please
31:08he was so emotional that
31:14he wasn't, he couldn't
31:15control himself. It was
31:18important to try to settle
31:20him, make him feel
31:22comfortable and relaxed.
31:25There are times where you
31:26need to be softer and coax
31:30the information that you
31:32are trying to learn.
31:35More than 4 days later, your
31:36side of the story. And we'll
31:37have a conversation. That's
31:38all we're going to do today,
31:39okay?
31:41So come ahead and...
31:43Okay, he's a child.
31:44He's a kid.
31:45He's a kid.
31:46He's a kid.
31:47He's a kid.
31:48He's a kid.
31:49Please don't tell him, I told you.
31:54So, Kyle's in jail, so he's not
32:00going to your family, okay?
32:01Okay.
32:02But, um, unfortunately, you've got
32:04you wrapped up in this, okay?
32:06So we're just trying to see what
32:07you can provide to us as far as
32:09from your point of view, okay?
32:11To make sure we have the story
32:12here, okay?
32:13So that's what we're looking for
32:14from you.
32:16Okay, so we're in the car, and
32:21we're driving.
32:22Who's there?
32:23Baby, Sky, Tyler.
32:24Whenever you say Sky, who's Sky?
32:26What's his real name?
32:28Chris.
32:29I guess Sky said something about
32:31his nephew or something like
32:33that and started making fun of
32:34him, and Tyler just looked at him
32:36like that was the last straw.
32:38And he said, you know, I don't
32:39know, I don't know.
32:40I don't know, I don't know.
32:41I don't know, I don't know.
32:42He just looked at him like that
32:44was the last straw.
32:45They haven't really got along.
32:48What else can you tell me?
32:50We're just driving and driving
32:52and I didn't know where the hell
32:54we're going, and probably his
32:56state was on some whole dirt road
32:58and he was talking about some
32:59haunted forest, some haunted
33:01something, and everybody was just
33:03freaked out, and we started walking
33:07and he made sure he was behind
33:09us, and we all got out of the
33:11place, and we all got somewhere
33:13wherever he wanted us to go to.
33:15We told him to stay in a specific
33:17place, and he just threw
33:20soup.
33:22I was just, I was just terrified.
33:26I didn't know if I was going to
33:28die to him, and, you know, it
33:32was just, I've never seen anything
33:34like that before, and I didn't
33:36know what to do.
33:38So you, so you didn't touch the body
33:39at all?
33:40No.
33:41I promise I did.
33:42I swear to God.
33:43Checking the pulse, nothing?
33:45Just left him there.
33:46I was scared!
33:49He just popped him in front of me.
33:55One of the differences in the
33:57interview with Nick, as opposed to the
34:01interview with Tyler, Nick was very
34:05upset and showing fear, a lot of
34:08emotion.
34:09He just seems to be saying what he's
34:12feeling and exactly what he's trying
34:15to convey.
34:16He's actually scared of the whole
34:18situation compared to, like, where
34:19Tyler's very composed.
34:21Do I already say he shot?
34:26Tyler said I shot him?
34:28Mm-hmm.
34:29Cause Tyler shot him.
34:30Like, like, listen, bro.
34:33Like, I'm telling y'all that God's
34:36honest truth.
34:37I did not do it.
34:38He did it.
34:41When you see someone get extremely
34:44emotional, um, in the face of an
34:47allegation of a crime, moving around
34:50and waving around, usually they're
34:53being honest because they're worried
34:57and upset that you're gonna believe
34:59false information.
35:00But with Nick, we thought to push him
35:04a little further and see if his
35:07emotions changed, if his demeanor
35:09changed, and if anything in his story
35:13changed.
35:14And I have the proof that it was his
35:16gun.
35:17It was the first day I met him and he
35:18showed me.
35:19It was not me.
35:21I swear to God.
35:22I swear to God.
35:33That's what y'all left in the woods
35:34right there.
35:37See that?
35:38Where is it?
35:39Yeah, you tell me what it is.
35:40What is that?
35:42I should take a better picture.
35:43Look at that.
35:44Look at it.
35:45Look at it.
35:46See that?
35:47Y'all did that.
35:49See that?
35:50Look at that.
35:51Who is that right there?
35:53Who is this right here?
35:55Look at it!
35:57Shit!
35:58Who did that?
35:59What are you going to tell us the key is, man?
36:07Huh?
36:08I didn't do it.
36:09I didn't do it.
36:10Who is that right there?
36:11Look at it.
36:12That's God.
36:13I didn't do it.
36:14I swear to God I didn't do it.
36:15I did not want none of that to happen to you.
36:16I swear to God.
36:17I swear to God.
36:18I swear to God.
36:19I swear to God.
36:20I swear to God.
36:21I swear to God.
36:22I swear to God on everything.
36:23I promise.
36:24I swear to God.
36:25Like, I'm the one who took him down there to see his kid.
36:27And now he's dead.
36:28It's not my fault, bro.
36:29Even under that extreme pressure, you know, he's still saying he didn't do it.
36:57It's not my fault.
36:58He's still naming Tyler as the person that did it.
37:02So you're seeing him actually get frustrated, getting angry about the situation because he's
37:05being blamed in his mind for something that he didn't do.
37:10Did you talk to the plan with Tyler?
37:14No.
37:15Tyler.
37:16Did you contribute to the plan that Tyler had for this whole situation?
37:17No.
37:18Neither did Baby.
37:19What percent of responsibility do you think Tyler has for this?
37:24What happened?
37:25Zero to a hundred.
37:26Zero being the least, a hundred being the worst.
37:28Like a hundred.
37:29He's the one who...
37:30Let me ask you this.
37:31Babe, what percentage do you think he is for this?
37:35None.
37:36Zero.
37:37Zero percent?
37:38Yeah.
37:39And what percent do you think you are for this?
37:42I couldn't say anything.
37:44I couldn't.
37:45Percentage-wise, do you think you have no responsibility for what happened?
37:50I mean, I couldn't help it.
37:52So, like, maybe like two or something, but I can't just stop that.
37:56Because he was going to do that to me, too.
38:01Like, please, it wasn't me.
38:02Like, I swear to God, it wasn't me.
38:06Watching Nick, I think that his emotions were real in that aspect.
38:09Everything he said and the way he was reacting, I really believe that he was scared of Tyler at that point.
38:14What made it believable was the fact that Nick was not just scared for himself.
38:20He was scared for his grandfather and for his family.
38:24He seemed to get more emotional talking about that.
38:27All right, this is a voluntary statement.
38:30Everything you just told us, you'll be writing on paper.
38:33All right.
38:35Take your time.
38:50It's very important because Bailey hasn't had the finger point at him yet.
38:57So we wanted to really talk to Bailey because we figured that he'd be the most independent person.
39:00Is he going to say that it was Nick? Is he going to say that it was Tyler?
39:20You've got to see right down that channel left.
39:26So here's the deal, Bailey.
39:27We ultimately know what happened to Chris.
39:29We know you were there.
39:30What we're looking for right now is to see how cooperative you're going to be with us.
39:34Because we don't need you getting in trouble just because your friends put you in a bad situation.
39:38Because nobody said you did anything, but you were there.
39:41What I need to know is, did Tyler shoot him?
39:44Or did Nick shoot him?
39:46Who shot him?
39:48Who pulled out again?
39:49Tyler?
39:50Tyler.
39:51Tyler.
39:52Tyler.
39:53Tyler.
39:54Tyler.
39:55How many shots?
39:56Just one.
39:57Okay.
39:58Make any direct threats to you?
39:59I mean, he told me if something happened, he'd know.
40:03Some other people we've spoken to said Nick shot him.
40:07No, it wasn't.
40:10No, just because he's my friend, don't mean I'm going to stand up for him because I'm going
40:15to try it either way.
40:18But it was Tyler.
40:19Would you be willing to take a photograph to show that you're not having writing false
40:23information to us today?
40:24No, sir.
40:25All right.
40:26Sit tight for me, all right?
40:27Yes, sir.
40:28After Bailey's interview, he wrote a written statement.
40:35And then he also drew a sketch where the vehicle was parked and the way they were standing in
40:43the woods.
40:44And it just strengthened our case and Nick and Bailey's version of events.
40:58Bailey gave police all the information that he was able to, and he did not lie.
41:05Investigators determined that Bailey's involvement in this case was mere presence.
41:10And at that point, he was allowed to leave the police department.
41:13Bailey was never charged with anything related to this case.
41:20The interrogations were extremely important in this case.
41:24The initial interrogation with Tyler was obviously the huge turning point.
41:36All three interrogations put together gave us that timeline of events and the details of
41:45what happened that evening.
41:48Normally, you can kind of keep yourself detached from cases.
41:53For some reason, this case, it was like Chris didn't do anything to kind of bring this upon
41:57himself.
41:58He was trying to go to work, trying to be in his child's life.
42:01We all really fought really hard to try to find the facts and the truth of what happened
42:05in this case to bring closure to his family.
42:08I want people to remember Chris.
42:37I want people to remember Chris the way I remember Chris.
42:41The happy, joyful, witty, charming kid that he was.
42:50If I could say something to Chris right now, I would tell him that I loved him and hopefully
43:00one day I'd see him soon.
43:07We all know.
43:09Thanks.
43:10Thanks to John and your life.
