00:00Guy Pearce is opening up about the unpleasant experience he endured while previously working
00:05with Kevin Spacey. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter Scott Feinberg on a new episode of
00:10his Awards Chatter podcast, Pearce, who is Oscar-nominated for his work in Brady Corbett's
00:15The Brutalist, got choked up while discussing for the first time at length about working with
00:19Spacey on the 1997 film LA Confidential. Pearce previously called Spacey a handsy guy in an
00:25Australian talk show in 2018, though he quickly clarified his comments. Pearce is now further
00:31opening up, but noted how he was reluctant to use the word victim. Even though I probably was a
00:36victim to a degree, I was certainly not a victim by any means to the extent that other people have
00:41been two sexual predators. Pearce initially responded to Spacey's alleged advances on set by brushing it
00:47off. I was sort of scared of Kevin because he's quite an aggressive man. He's extremely charming
00:51and brilliant at what he does. Really impressive. But I was young and susceptible, and he targeted
00:56me, no question. He recalled, telling his then-wife, the only days I feel safe are the days when Simon
01:02Baker is on set because I'm dumped like a hot potato and Kevin focuses on Simon because he was
01:0710 times prettier than I am. It wasn't until decades later that Pearce was able to fully process what
01:12happened, when in the midst of the Me Too movement, veteran actor Anthony Rapp came forward with claims
01:17that Spacey made sexual advances at a party in New York in 1986 when he was 14. Pearce said he caught
01:24the headlines. I was in London working on something and I heard the reports and I broke down and sobbed
01:29and I couldn't stop. I think it really dawned on me the impact that had occurred and how I sort of
01:33brushed it off. That was a really incredible wake-up call. Pearce also noted that he has since had a
01:39couple of confrontations with Kevin that got ugly. I don't want him to get away with what he gets away
01:43with. For more on this story, head to THR.com. And for the latest entertainment news and updates,
