00:00Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky reacted on Friday to his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump's
00:06peace plan for his embattled country. U.S. media outlets first reported that the plan
00:11gained Trump's approval on Thursday, indicating that it was a 28-point plan, heavily unfavorable
00:17to Ukraine. The plan includes terms such as ceding entire areas like the Donbass region
00:23and Crimea to Moscow, which Washington will recognize as de facto Russian territories.
00:28Other key areas, embroiled in fighting like Zaporizhia and her son, are to be frozen
00:33on the contact lines.
00:58Zelensky noted that Kyiv will not make, quote, loud statements and will continue working
01:17with U.S. partners to seek constructive solutions. The Ukrainian President also added that he spoke
01:24with European leaders who assured him of their continued support.
01:31Vladimir is a 28-point plan, which was allegedly prepared by the United States and Russia and
01:36passed on to Kyiv. Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed that he received the plan and that Ukrainian
01:41authorities are reviewing it. Now let's review it together. The plan starts with Ukraine's
01:45sovereignty will be confirmed. By whom? Ukraine's sovereignty is already confirmed by Ukraine
01:50and its western partners and indeed international community. It is expected that Russia will not
01:56invade neighboring countries and NATO will not expand further. Now, here are Moscow's demands
02:02to NATO, not only to Ukraine, which will continue in this plane, including if NATO agrees not
02:08to station troops in Ukraine. It then goes into Ukraine, will receive reliable security guarantees.
02:13Now, mind you, Ukraine already received security guarantees as per the 1994 Budapest memorandum,
02:19which guaranteed its sovereignty and territorial integrity in return for Ukraine, giving up the
02:24third world's largest nuclear arsenal. The size of the Ukrainian armed forces will be limited. This is
02:30something that Russia has been insisting upon since the very beginning of the full-scale invasion,
02:34wording it as demilitarization of Ukraine. Following in the same category is demand about European
02:40fighter jets not to be stationed in Ukraine and instead to be stationed in Poland. Russia will be
02:46reintegrated into the global economy. The lifting of the sanctions will be discussed and agreed upon.
02:52This is, of course, Russia's biggest demand, specifically given the latest tough sanctions by the United States
02:58and Trump administration on Lukoil and Rosneft. There is an interesting part regarding the frozen assets.
03:05So according to this leak plan, $100 billion in frozen assets, frozen Russian assets will be invested in US-led effort.
03:14And the US will receive 50% of the profit from this venture. Now, this is something that the European Union clearly will have a lot to say about.
03:23Russia also promises to enshrine in law its policy of non-aggression towards Europe and Ukraine, not only Ukraine now, but also Europe and the European countries.
03:33Let's go to the territorial concessions here.
03:36Crimea, Luhansk and Donetsk will be recognized as de facto Russian, including by the United States.
03:42How can the United States now recognize them de facto and not de euro? Now, this is a big question, but clearly something that Moscow has been pushing upon.
03:51Kherson and Zaporizhia regions will be frozen along the line of contact.
03:56Russia does not control any region of Ukraine in its entirety.
04:01Now, the biggest presence and the biggest occupation in terms of the percentage of the territory that Russia has currently in Ukraine is Luhansk region.
04:09When it comes to Luhansk and Donetsk regions known, known together as Donbass, this is not the area that Russia has been trying to occupy since the beginning of the full scale invasion in 2022.
04:21This is something that Moscow troops have been trying to occupy since 2014 for over 10 years now.
04:29One of the most important points in this alleged plan that was leaked on Thursday, all parties involved in this conflict will receive full amnesty for their actions during the war and agree not to make any claims or consider any complaints in the future.
04:44In which case, Russian forces and Russian authorities are trying to completely justify everything that their troops done in Ukraine, starting from the very first atrocities discovered when it came to the occupation of the Kyiv region,
04:59which lasted for a month and the atrocities and revelations which the world saw when it comes to the liberation of Bucha, Irpin and the rest of the Kyiv region.
05:10When it comes to the liberation of the Kharkiv region and the torture of the civilians and the sexual violence by Russian forces.
05:18Now, Ukrainian authorities did not say whether they are going to reject it or whether they're going to accept it.
05:24They do say that they're going to review that and they're going to engage in the dialogue.
05:29But clearly, some of these points are a no-go for Kyiv.
05:33The European Union and the Indo-Pacific region have gathered for a meeting in Brussels.
05:42This fourth ministerial forum is focusing on the themes of resilience, prosperity and security.
05:48For some participants, such as the Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs, the event is an opportunity to strengthen maritime cooperation in the face of Beijing's claim in the South China Sea.
05:59The EU has been very supportive in its statements.
06:04Secondly, there's also a lot of support through the visits of the member EU countries, frigates that pass the South China Sea.
06:20And this gives a lot of impetus on the relations and the principle of the navigational aspects of the challenges that we have in the South China Sea.
06:39Manila and Beijing have accused each other of being responsible for several maritime confrontations and other incidents in the region in recent months.
06:47Chinese authorities claim certain waters in the region, even though an international court has ruled against them.
06:53The Philippines has therefore welcomed the participation of some EU member states in maritime exercises as observers.
07:01Thailand's foreign minister told Iran news on the sideline of an Indo-Pacific region meeting in Brussels that as well as economic opportunities the EU and Thailand have,
07:15the EU's presence in the Asian region brings a balance of powers between the US and China.
07:22We're also concerned, you know, right now with the policies of tariffs and protectionism on the part of the United States, you know, we think that this does not help the multilateral trading system.
07:38But with the EU, you know, we all want to see EU more engaged in the region economically, politically, also in terms of security, because it helps to balance out the balance of power in the region.
07:56The minister added that Thailand is in the process of transitioning into a more digitalised and greener economy, areas that he thinks the EU has a lot to offer Thailand and other Asian countries.
08:16The fire broke out at the United Nations Climate Summit in Belen in Brazil, prompting evacuations and disrupting climate talks.
08:24The summit organizers said everyone was evacuated safely, but reported that the blue zone had been shut down temporarily to complete the necessary safety checks.
08:35The disruption came at a critical moment as negotiators were struggling to reach a consensus on certain key topics.
08:43Just before the fire broke out, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres had urged countries to show willingness and flexibility to deliver concrete results.
08:54I think this is not the moment to talk about the possible failure of the COP.
08:59It is the moment to guarantee that that failure doesn't occur.
09:04And so I am perfectly convinced that the compromise is possible that to take into account, as I mentioned, the legitimate concerns of adaptation and the legitimate concerns of mitigation.
09:17The local fire service said the cause of the fire was believed to be an electrical device, likely a microwave.
09:2413 people were treated on site for smoke inhalation.
09:28The blue zone has since been reopened and continued operations late on Thursday.
09:33The FIFA Under-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 is down to its final four.
09:42After a dramatic knockout run across the Aspire Zone, with the quarter-finals concluding today, the tournament now moves to an even bigger stage.
09:50Khalifa International Stadium, where the semifinals await.
09:57For many of these young players, the semifinals are a chance to step onto the global stage.
10:03FIFA says the tournament is built to support development and offer meaningful international experience.
10:08This is for us a very, very important tournament to grow, to grow, to show the Under-17, the youth teams, hey, where to go.
10:17It's more about this diversity.
10:19Now, this setup, never ever, in my whole career, even after my football career, I had the same situation.
10:28This edition also breaks new ground.
10:30With 48 teams, it's the largest Under-17 World Cup ever held.
10:34The compact setup at Aspire Zone has shaped the tournament's rhythm, helping teams and fans move easily between venues.
10:41On the left side, celebrating from one game.
10:44You're here on the other side, celebrating from another game.
10:47This is a milestone tournament right now, what FIFA created here together with Qatar and the Aspire Center.
10:55Yeah, we're loving everybody, every single country.
10:58The vibes are amazing.
10:59I didn't know every single player of my national team.
11:03And now I know them better because I can actually see them closer.
11:06It's not like in a stadium environment where you are so far away and you cannot have like a direct contact or a closer contact with them.
11:14For the first time in the tournament, the action shifts away from Aspire Zone.
11:18On Monday, fans will be gearing up as Portugal meets Brazil while Austria takes on Italy in the second semi-final, with the next generation of stars stepping onto one of Qatar's most iconic stages.
