00:00A new report by Human Rights Watch finds that Israel committed war crimes in its ground offensive in the West Bank earlier this year.
00:10The European Union and the Indo-Pacific region have gathered in Brussels.
00:14For the Philippines, this is an opportunity to strengthen maritime cooperation.
00:20A new report by Human Rights Watch finds that Israel committed war crimes in its ground offensive in the West Bank earlier this year.
00:28After tens of thousands of displaced Palestinians were denied return after hostilities ended.
00:35In an interview with Euronews, the author of the report, Nadia Hardman, explains why.
00:40International law is very clear on this.
00:44People, once displaced, should be returned once hostilities in the area have ceased.
00:50Hostilities in the area have long ceased.
00:53There is no reason to continue blocking off these camps to the displaced population.
00:58Human Rights Watch also found that 850 buildings were destroyed across all three camps since military operations began in January, often without warning.
01:09This is the largest displacement in the West Bank since 1967.
01:15This is a case of mass and systematic displacement.
01:18The scope is just so huge.
01:21The way in which it was conducted, the violence of the forced expulsions and the widespread destruction that has now taken place, again, systematically within the camps, has led to this conclusion that, you know, many war crimes of forced displacement have been committed.
01:37It is underlined by state policy.
01:39The Israeli military justifies the displacement and destruction of homes as a necessity to root out terrorist activity.
01:46But Hardman says it is not sufficient under international law.
01:49The mere presence of fighters does not justify the displacement of 32,000 Palestinian refugees.
01:56And this is the this is what we have tried to engage the Israeli authorities on.
02:01We've asked questions.
02:02But the Israeli authorities have just repeated their justification being one of military necessity to reshape the camps because of their security needs.
02:12So they've not really engaged with the question of the right to return.
02:15The report calls on governments to put more pressure on Israel to end the forced displacement of Palestinian refugees.
02:22They want to go back to the lives that they were living before.
02:25And I think that that, you know, that desire to return cannot be extinguished.
02:33The European Union and the Indo-Pacific region have gathered for a meeting in Brussels.
02:38This fourth ministerial forum is focusing on the themes of resilience, prosperity and security.
02:44For some participants, such as the Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs, the event is an opportunity to strengthen maritime cooperation in the face of Beijing's claim in the South China Sea.
02:55The EU has been very supportive in its statements.
03:01Secondly, there's also been so that's first.
03:05Secondly, there's also a lot of support through the visits of the member EU countries, frigates that passes the South China Sea.
03:17And this gives a lot of impetus on the relations and the principle of the navigational aspects of the challenges that we have in the South China Sea.
03:35Manila and Beijing have accused each other of being responsible for several maritime confrontations and other incidents in the region in recent months.
03:43Chinese authorities claim certain waters in the region, even though an international court has ruled against them.
03:50The Philippines has therefore welcomed the participation of some EU member states in maritime exercises as observers.
03:57Strapped into a Fennec military helicopter, we lift off over the Orléans-Bressy airbase in central France.
04:15Euronews was granted exclusive access on board this light and highly manoeuvrable aircraft,
04:21one of the key tools France now relies on for anti-drone operations across Europe.
04:27But the Fennec is just one piece of Taranis, France's major high-intensity military exercise.
04:34Over the course of three weeks, the Air Force trains for scenarios shaped by today's increasingly tense geopolitical climate.
04:41Taranis 2025, what we anima, it's really fidèles to the devise of the Brigade Aérienne d'Assauts and Projections,
04:49it's to combat and save.
04:51Combat, I speak rather for my part of helicopter, of course, it's going to be depose the commandos,
04:59to recover the commandos, to act in the air to ensure the sovereignty of the state in its space aérien.
05:06To save, it's also going to be able to recover people from the ground, from the treuillet, etc.
05:11So that's what we're going to demonstrate today.
05:13Down below, the roar of the A400M transport plane punches through the clouds.
05:19The Orléans-Bressy airbase hosts almost the entire French A400M fleet.
05:2524 aircraft capable of evacuations, humanitarian drops and heavy transport.
05:31To keep these crews mission-ready, Taranis pushes them onto improvised runways,
05:39including this brand-new gravel strip inaugurated for the exercise.
05:45In total, 250 personnel and 20 aircraft from France and Greece are mobilized,
05:52all with one single objective, to strengthen tactical expertise ahead of potential high-intensity conflict.
05:59The Taranis exercise will wrap up on November 27,
06:04marking the 80 years of France's military air transport command.
06:12Women in Ukraine are not drafted into military service, but they can volunteer to join,
06:18and tens of thousands have done so since Russia first invaded Ukraine in 2014.
06:23Euronews spoke to three Ukrainian service women,
06:27who decided not just to stay, but also to defend their country.
06:31In Ukraine, now in army, there are more than 70,000 women,
06:36and this is certainly a number of armies of European countries, for example, in general.
06:43Women will stay more, they will become more.
06:45There is no other choice.
06:47And as a result of women in army,
06:49the more women in army, the more women in army,
06:50the more comfortable and better will be feeling each of these women.
06:54Olexandra Lysitska, a lieutenant, serves as an officer of the Special Purpose Group
07:01in the National Guard of Ukraine.
07:03She joined the army following the all-out invasion.
07:06When asked why she decided not just to stay, but also to join the defense, she said...
07:12Visiting the European Parliament in Brussels,
07:23they say the Europeans do not realize yet they might also face this choice.
07:29An option to stay away with COVID-19.
07:32As a result of the European Union, there is a possibility to be able to get the support of the people,
07:34to get the support of the people, to get the resources, to learn, and to be able to help.
07:38And together with Ukraine, we should be able to get the help of those people,
07:43because it is better to get the cancer out the way possible and to get it out the way,
07:47until the cancer is fully developed, if it is a black hole.
07:51And there is no way to go, and you can't fit the cancer out the way,
07:53and you can't fit the cancer out of it, until the cancer is immediately done.
07:57The Bulgarian General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Sofia City Prosecutor's Office
08:18announced that 35 Bulgarians were arrested for antique trafficking in an international
08:23operation involving Europol. Many treasure hunters, dealers, and high-level traffickers
08:29were detained both in Bulgaria and elsewhere in a coordinated operation spanning eight countries.
08:35Bulgaria requested Europol support almost two years ago. Because of the complexity of the case
08:42and the intensive investigation measures needed, we have proposed to set up a kind of an operational
08:49task force with Bulgaria, Europol, but also European and non-European countries.
08:54The police operation was carried out by 30 hours, but it is not closed.
08:59On the ground, we have over 220 employees of GDBOP, who are doing a lot of professional
09:07actions before the arrest of the police. As the prosecutor said, these are the offices, offices,
09:14and other companies. The criminal network has operated for 16 years across Western Europe,
09:23the United States, and the Balkans. They have many subcontractors in other countries ranging
09:29in specialties and professions. In Greece, archaeologists and professors were arrested after evidence suggested
09:36they were involved in the scheme.
10:01In addition to international trafficking of historical valuables, members of the group are also being
10:06investigated for money laundering and other financial offenses.
10:10A NASA-funded telescope, the Atlas Survey Telescope in Chile, first reported observations of the comet on July 1,
10:312025, to the Minor Planet Center. And NASA has been tracking and studying Comet 3I Atlas ever since.
10:37This object is a comet. It looks and behaves like a comet, and all evidence points to it being a comet.
10:43But this one came from outside the solar system, which makes it fascinating, exciting, and scientifically very important.
10:50This is only the third interstellar object like this that humanity has ever found.
10:54There is circumstantial evidence, given how fast it has come in to our solar system, that it came from some very old population,
11:11a solar system around a very old star. Quite possibly, we can't say this for sure, but the likelihood is, it came from a solar system older than our own solar system itself,
11:22which gives me goosebumps to think about frankly, because that means the 3I Atlas is not just a window into another solar system,
11:31it's a window into the deep past, and so deep in the past that it predates even the formation of our Earth and our Sun.
