00:00Jeff Kirkshen at the CMAs with Gretchen Wilson. Hi. I have one rule in this booth. I only get to
00:10ask you one question and then you're done. Oh, okay. Because I can talk a long time. That's
00:14probably all you have to do. You make my job easy and I love that. All right. So one big
00:19question for Gretchen Wilson is yesterday I talked to Ella Langley who told me and I asked her
00:25about how cool of a moment it was going eye to eye with you on stage at the Ryman like this.
00:31And I was like, Ella, you were just so confident. She's like, I was shaking in my boots. I was so
00:35nervous because she was so excited. She looks up to you. But then she added that you drank Jack
00:42out of a horn. Yeah. Can you confirm this? Yeah. Well, I brought her a bottle of single barrel
00:50Jack. It's some commemorative bottles that I had made a long time ago that say have the little
00:57necklace on them on the bottle that says CMA vocalist of the year. So I brought her that as
01:02a gift because she invited me to come sing with her at the Ryman, which I thought was really cool
01:06and very special. And of course, I thought it was really neat. So she said, we have this thing that
01:11we do on stage. And since you brought this whiskey, maybe we'll drink that out of there. But she said,
01:16well, you got to drink out of the horn. Well, I was expecting there to, you know, they were going
01:20to pour it in and it was going to come out of the bottle. Like a funnel. Right, right. Thank goodness,
01:23because who knows what would have happened if that would have been the case. But no, she said,
01:26it's just this little horn and we're going to pour it in and you're going to drink it. And I was like,
01:29yeah, that's kind of silly. And it's kind of the stuff that I used to do 20 years ago on stage.
01:33It reminded me very, very much of myself. So of course I said, yes. She was so happy that you said yes.
01:40And then she even admitted that she's been trying to get that part out of her act for like a while,
01:44but the band keeps saying, nope, this is tradition. And now that you've done it,
01:48you've kind of locked it in. My advice to Ella would be keep it. People love to see you being you.
01:53And also you're killing at least a minute and a half that you get to save your voice.
02:00Smart girl. Keep drinking it.
02:02Thank you so much for joining us here. Thank you.
