00:00Apps are being downloaded, and it's very clear who the winner is here.
00:03Based on this year and based on football season, the winner, Sam, to me, is Kalshi, plus 23% up, 1.47 million downloads.
00:15And I'm sure that these other sites, Sam, are recognizing this.
00:19We see this new partnership that Fanatics announced earlier today, and they would like to get probably more downloads through crypto.com.
00:27But we're seeing a lot more steam here for the prediction markets, and in places like California and in Texas, I'm sure if we geographically looked at it, why not get involved in some of these things that appear to be very similar to sports betting?
00:42Yeah, very notable. Kalshi now fifth in app downloads when you include them in the entire sports gambling space, moving ahead of Bet365, BetMGM, and Caesars,
00:52who for a long time have been thought about kind of the people behind DraftKings and FanDuel.
00:57Now it's Kalshi, which is even more impressive considering the fact that prediction market app downloads are actually down almost 20% year over year from last year,
01:06because last year is when they really started to explode first with the presidential election,
01:12where that was the first time we really heard about these apps exploding.
01:15So the fact that prediction market downloads are actually down almost 20% overall, yet Kalshi is up 23% really just goes to show you that it's not relying on election betting anymore,
01:27and just how much it skyrocketed in this last year while you have other apps like DraftKings down and FanDuel,
01:33and virtually every other sports betting app down.
01:36Those apps downloads are about 10% year over year.
01:40Now there is a little bit of an outlier, because last year you had the Jake Paul and Mike Tyson fight,
01:45which was responsible for the most sports betting download apps of any single event of the year outside of the Super Bowl.
01:52So that's a tough comp from last year.
01:54But again, prediction market's dealing with their own tough comp of the presidential election last year,
01:59and they just continue to surge, continue to get downloaded through these new partnerships.
02:03You mentioned the one that Fanatics has just agreed to with Crypto.com, Kalshi and Polymarket both have partnerships with X now.
02:11Polymarket also partnering with Truth Social, the president's social media platform, and also both partnering with the NHL as well.
02:19And that'll be another really interesting thing to monitor, whether these apps make more partnerships with leagues,
02:24because largely the MLB, the NBA, other leagues, which are facing their own integrity issues, have warned the CFTC that,
02:32hey, these prediction markets don't have the guardrails and, you know, overall structure that kind of is meant to safeguard everything that sportsbooks have.
02:40So it'll be really interesting to see maybe if one of those leagues changes their mind when, you know,
02:45the downloads for these apps are just getting too high and the popularity is just getting too big.
02:49But definitely something we're going to keep watching is whether Kalshi can even, you know, surge past prize picks and underdog,
02:55which right now are behind DraftKings and FanDuel.
02:57I would expect the downloads to only keep going up until eventually, you know, maybe the Supreme Court decides in a few years.
